I read a lot of literary fiction as well as genre fiction and I am glad some booktubers are talking about how both categories have incredible books for us to enjoy and appreciate. Classic literature doesn't only comprise of literary fiction. 1984 by George Orwell is a science fiction novel and still acknowledged as a classic for its influence on society. LOTR is an epic fantasy but its enduring relevance makes it a classic. Beloved by Toni Morrison is a historical fiction but a modern classic for exploring the historical reality of slavery and its roots and how it still impacts its victims. Sherlock Holmes belongs to the thriller/crime genre and is a classic in English for its exploration of the human mind and society at large with the gripping element of mystery. Genre fiction doesn't have to be superficial and badly written. There are so many incredible books that defy that stereotype.
Preordered when the dust settles through the Amazon link in the description. It looks like a beautiful story very different to anything I've ever read before. Publishing sounds like so interesting and a huge congratulations on getting your stamp on such a wonderful story. I've not read a book like this before. It will come to me in the UK in August 2025. Amazing recommendations as always ❤
I really think you’d love The Air You Breathe, by Brazilian-American author Frances de Pontes Peebles, and maybe The House in Smyrna too, which is translated fiction and is by Turkish-Brazilian author Tatiana Salem Levy - they both seem right up your alley, imo 🩷
I prefer Storygraph. It has million of different graphs and pretty wrap ups. 😍 It's free with no ads and specifically made for phones.
i use goodreads, fable and storygraph but storygraph is definitely my favourite!!

The book cover for Dust Settles North is so beautiful and unique! I can't wait to read it
