Hello everyone today in Microsoft flight simulator 2020 we will discuss a new feature in the nvidia control panel and how this may hurt your performance. The topic for today is the shader cache and why you should delete this on every update to the sim. Ill also show the info that i was able to get from nvidia about the best setting. Check the link section below and lastly i will touch on the nvidia profile inspector and show how to disable the shader cache for msfs alone. This may help prevent the creation of corrupt files in the cache but i would try it with and without turning it off to see what works best on your system. Leave a comment below and thanks for watching!

This worked very well, reduced 80% of the stutters I was getting. Tested well around LA and NYC. But as a bonus, the fans on my RTX2080-TI have stopped going into overdrive. I was maxing out at 74deg Celsius, since the change it hasn’t gone over 60 degrees, and the fans are at normal speed. So thank you for offering this procedure, worked really well for me.
Great thanks for the comment . Happy it helped you .
Yes, this was crashing my 3080TI card too.
This will destroy any level video card.
Yes locking frames can help with gpu load but will also help more for the lower to mid range cpus . I personally don't I get better performance not locked . The other thing you could do is use vsync to lock frames as well .
Yep I always use that method
Dude - mega respect! This method works. I checked in Oculus 2. Stuttering disappeared, everything began to work smoothly.
Great thanks for the comment 😀
Hear all that applause? That's me!.
I just love following your step-by-step analyses. Really tickles my love of tekky-philia
Thanks a bunchness !
Barty
Thanks Barty 😊 I appreciate all the applause 👏 🙏
I've been doing the first part, inside the Nivida folder, for a while now. Even just that on it's own makes a big difference towards reducing stutters. I haven't done everything in the video that came after, I look forward to my Nvidia GT710 being able to deliver 240fps in 4k on ULTRA settings in MSFS from now on
😜
Lol thanks for the comment .
Hey man! Just commenting here to let you know it worked just fined in my laptop . Thank you so much
Hey thanks for the comment glad it helped 😀
Hey man! you just fixed my game that broke down and was unplayable because of stuttering.. now everything works like a charm! THANKS! Br from Sweden.
Your welcome thanks for sharing 😀
Thank you for this tutorial. I just tried it, and MSFS is different now. All stutters have disapeared. 👍👏
Great thanks for the comment 👍
Very nice! Thanks. As usual, you save the day.
Your welcome thanks for the comment 👍
Always great tutorial. Works well for me. Thank you .
Awesome thanks for the comment 😁
Nice worked well. Got a pint waiting for you at the bar. Cheers
Thank you happy it helped ☺️
Thank you, thank you. This indeed was the fix and it made sense.
Your welcome . I'm happy it helped ☺️
Hello, I have a problem in fs2020, my camera when I change the position of the mcdu or pad or front adjusts but shakes, my question is if it is due to some Nvidia configuration or maybe it is something related to the screen, my component is a ryzzen 7 7800x3d + 4090 msi trio and 32 ghz ram ddr5 monitor Lg32n600 windows 10 xbox game. I got it thanks! I wait your answer.
Grate video. Awesome format.
Thanks for the comment 👍
Looks interesting I’ll have to give it a go. Thanks.
Please let me know your results thanks for the comment
Hi there thanks for your great videos. Just after some help - I’m seeing a lot of long black rectangular pop ins occurring in my scenery, a lot at lower levels, I have a high spec system and follow a lot of your setup but don’t know what’s causing this. These seem to kinda grow and grow in size as opposed to just appearing
Thanks for the comment . Ok have you tried to turn off all photogrametry and the Bing maps and try again it may be the server or photogramentry
Very helpful video, thanks! Could I ask, what exactly is the benefit of disabling shader cache just for MSFS? Does it simply negate the need for deleting the cache files regularly after updates etc?
Thanks for the comment . Yes my logic behind turning it off for msfs is that it will not create corrupt cache files thus you won't need to delete any of them but others have said deleting the cache has helped other games too so if you are running other games then maybe just delete the cache every so often instead of turning it off. This is something that you would need to test out on your system.
Just tried this. Seems to work very well.
Awesome thanks for the comment .
Pretty great video! I am wondering what is the sense of the shrader cache and rolling cache anyway? Thanks!
Thanks for the comment . The cache is to help load the scenery faster but in some cases doesn't.
Dude you’re an actual magician. I have an i5 12400f with an rtx 4070. Fps usually isn’t an issue, I get 30-40 but I have DLSS frame gen so it looks like I’m always 60+ but the stuttering was still very bad. When I did this, I figured it wouldn’t work but I’d try anyways and this probably removed 90% of the stutters and seemed to increase my average fps by 3-10 fps
That's some good results thanks for the comment 👍
I skipped the step at 4:33 because for me, i didn’t see the “disk cleanup” setting when I clicked on properties. Im on windows 11, do you know how I can do this?
@@owenklein1917 Click on the Windows button and type Disk Cleanup into the search bar. Select the C drive from the drop-down. It then brings you to the same menu shown in the video. I only know this because I just had the same issue as you and had to Google it.
Thanks
Why do I not have Dx Cache but it is enabled? Feel like that went away when I installed the GeForce Experience App. Any ideas?
It's in a different location when I get back from vacation i will update the video
Hmm. I just found out thare are not further folders in my Nvidia folder inside the appdata folder. It's blank and I reinstalled FS2020 quite recently...
I will have an update to this by this weekend
Is there a way to diagnose random in-flight game crashes? Ive followed most all of your guides that apply to my setup and I think the crash issues began once I downloaded the intelligent standby list cleaner. . I'm running a Lenovo legion laptop with an RTX 2080 super and a meta quest pro. Should I be looking at a specific area of performance in task manager?
You can use the windows crash log I think I have no idea how to use it lol. Have you tried without starting the islc program and see if that works . Because it's a separate application as long and you don't start it and then close the app it will not be used
@@2020fsers Not starting the islc program seemed to work (facepalm). From what I could gather from the crash log, I suppose islc causes an issue with the Oculus client. Now the sim runs much more steady and without as many stutters.
Ok.great well at least you figured it out and can play it now .
ooooh god it helped!! Thanks a tonne!
Your welcome 😀
Thanks for the info and hard work and hours you put in to bring us these tips.
You mention that MSFS corrupts the shader files. Do you have any insight as to what situations cause this corruption?
Your welcome .. anytime there is an update and they change things with graphics it will corrupt the shader cache just like the rolling cache . So I would do this after any update to msfs unless you turn it off like I go over at the end
Wow. Sounds like a bug. I wonder if a bug report has been filed with Asobo. I don't recall it being on their big list.
That I don't know
Urgent! At some point you mentioned something about the number of cores or was it CPU’s? I changed something to “1”. Msfs won’t load saying “your computer doesn’t have the capacity to run” … or something to that effect. Help!
This video is on shader cache
What version of windows are you working with? I'm on windows 11 and was not able to delete any files in the cache folder. I also didn't have a "cleanup" option under the C: drive properties. So in the end the only thing I could do is change the cache size. Too soon to tell if that made a significant difference.
i am using windows 10 . most of this stuff is in a different directory for windows 11
@@2020fsers Yeah I found the folders but it wouldn’t let me delete any of the shader cache files. Changed the cache size to 10 and didn’t see any appreciable improvements. The best stuttering improvements come from adjusting the detail sliders down some but not to zero, that makes it worse. Somewhere around 100 seems to be the sweet spot.
The rolling cache still wont work for months now, every time I try to delete it it jumps to 100% instantly & does nothing even if I let it sit for a few minutes, & no one ever replies to my asking for help on it they just say, well mine works, good for them, I even did do a total clean reinstall of MSFAS that takes a day or two to download & update everything, still wont work
Thanks forthe comment . What do you mean when you say you delete the rolling cache and it jumps to 100. The other option is to go to the location of your rolling cache and delete the file there.
I was following your directions for deleting the files in the DXCache and the GLCache and that went fine. I also have another folder in the NVIDIA folder named NvBackend with a number of files in that folder. Since you didn't mention this folder, should I just leave it alone and move on to the next step?
Cdrbuck
Thanks for the comment . I'm not sure about that. If you do decide to delete it do yourself a favor and research it before just to make sure it's OK.
My question....why do we even have to do this? Shouldn't stuff work automatically without having to do anything?
In a perfect world yes . But not so much with msfs.
Does deleting the cache files reset my NVIDIA game filters and or NVIDIA control panel settings?
It does not affect your control panel settings and it shouldn't reset any filters either . I don't use any but I'm 99% that it won't reset
I have problems with the simulator since the last sim update.. I have microstutters a bit on the ground in some large airports and also in flight some times especially if I move over the city at low altitude for example with a fighter plane etc. Su 10 I had no problems whatsoever. I have a rtx3060ti, i7 10700k and 32gb ram, I've been changing settings since November, even lowering them to the maximum but nothing seems to help me. I can't enjoy the simulator anymore I have both lods at 100, dx11 settings between ultra and high, I tried dx 12 but nothing changes, I changed 1000 settings nothing, rolling cache always kept disabled. game mod and hags off, i tried on but it doesn't change. I can't enjoy the sim anymore, do you have any help?
airport operators and vehicles at 10.20. I use fsltl, but even if I don't use it, the problem doesn't change. I reinstalled windows several times clean but nothing
I think a bug was introduced in last update. I have problems as well. Even my CPU and GPU running at 17 ms sometimes a stutter comes without any reason related to bottlenecks in CPU or GPU.
Yeah there are lots of little bugs in the system check out the msfs fixes playlist I have lots of different stutter fixes and su11 setting guide as well as vr guide . Not all fixes work for everyone and these no 1 fix for all the stutters either its all trial and error.
before/after comparisons would greatly improve your tipps&tricks!
The issue with doing before and afters is not all fixes will fix everything or everyone's system. Even some fixes I have posted don't do anything for me but a lot of people said it works for them . I put a lot of time into these fixes or tweaks and I get input from other as well as myself in testing for weeks before I post anything . So what works for me may not for you and then if I do before and afters and it doesn't meet your expectations because it doesn't affect your pc the same then you are upset so that's why I ask for feedback from the community and if it works please tell me and if it doesn't please tell.me with system specs so someone else that may have the same result came look at system specs to see if their result is the same . Hope that makes sense . So I try not to spend time in filming to try and capture the fix on camera rather I like to use that time to show everyone a possible fix for them .
I cant find the diskcleanup in the prop on c drive it just says details?
Ok try to go to the search in the lower left and type disk cleanup and see if it comes up
Hello and thank you again for these tips. One question I have which i think I've asked before but have you ever heard of people struggling with flight sim freezes? Mine keeps freezing then running and freezing etc. It's very frustrating and I have tried all of your tips but can't get rid of this freezing issue :( I only fly PMDG really and it only happens once I leave the ground it really affects my enjoyment and stops all of my flights really. I know it's a big ask but if you have anything you can help with it would be very much appreciated. Thank you again and keep them coming. Cheers🍻
Pmdg knows about the issue with the 737 . I actually was talking with someone else about this a couple days ago and they contacted pmdg and are working on a fix but they cannot replicate it so who know how long it will take for them to get a fix for it . Thanks for the comment 👍
@@2020fsers cheers man for taking the time to reply, I won’t hold my breath but hopefully they sort it soon as it’s very frustrating 🙄
Your welcome my friend I try my best to respond to every comment . I may not have a good answer lol but that's another story 😅
What about turning off the shader cache within steam? Is it ok to do that and have the setting to 10 gb within the nvidia control panel?
I didn't know steam had a shader cache . This is something you would need to test on your system to see what works best
Hello :) I have a question about another Video from you (Somehow no comment is showing there) Its the video about debloading the Nvidia Driver (Your most viewed Video) Question: what do I have to do if a new driver comes out? Do I have to redo all the steps? Greetings 😀
Yes you will.redo all the steps again
@@2020fsers Isn’t it enough deleting everything once, because all the unneeded features are gone then and you can just use the driver modification program for every future update, without needing to delete every Driver File with the other program every time you update?
Not really your pc still stores files from that driver in the system and registry. when you install a new driver sometimes files get corrupt when they overwrite. The only way to remove all traces of the driver is the ddu application because you need to be in safe mode to do that step.
If I have shaded cache to 10gb, should I change it to 10gb in nividianprolfile inspector
No you do not need to do that in the inspector.
I don't have a DXcache folder. Only one folder GLcache. Αfter changing the GPU yesterday Why?
It's in a new location after the latest nvidia update . I'm on vacation in Mexico 🇲🇽 I'll do a refresh video the end of this week .
@@2020fsers I found it on I found it on AppData/LocalLow
Ive been deleting the nvidia cache files many times in the past but with the latest sim update I went to the nVidia folder I had a shortcut to and for some reason its empty. I do not know if perhaps I previously deleted all the sub folders. Is there any way to restore them? Recycle Bin has since been emptied
It's should auto populate new folders for you . If you update the driver it will also reset all the folders .
@@2020fsers thanks but it is not creating new folders after system restarts or running the sim. I also uninstalled the driver using DDU and installed the latest. Rebooted and ran the sim. Again I am not seeing the cache files. I also disabled cache in nvidia control panel and then enabled it again and set it to unlimited. Still nothing
Despite reinstalling the driver I do NOT have any nVidia folders within "AppData\Local" no matter what I do. Perhaps its because I use NVCleanstall. Might just run the full driver installer as a test to see what happens@@2020fsers
Nvidia moved the location of the cache files in the latest driver update
I'll do a video when I get back from Mexico 🇲🇽 me and my wife are on vacation .
I have been deleting the rolling cache with a flight sim update AND NVIDIA driver update. Are both recommended or just when the Flight Sim is updated?
I would say anytime the sim gets an update delete all the cache rolling shaders everything. On a nvidia driver update as long as you are using the ddu to delete all the previous driver before the new driver install then you don't need to delete the shader caches as they all get removed using the ddu.
The rolling cache should not be affected by a nvidia driver update as it only stores files from the sim so theoretically it should make no difference.
@@2020fsers Makes sense, thanks Jonathan Plus with each new NVIDIA driver update, I would need to increase the size of the shader cache to 10 GB again.
Yes that's correct
Hello. Thanks for your video. Rolling cache in game turn ENABLED of DISABLED for better performances?
I keep my rolling cache off but try it both on and off some users say they see micro stutters if it is off so it all depends on your system .
Thanks for the comment
I dont't have these two folders in the nvidia folder (3060 ti)
I am updating this at the end of this week
Hi, I also have a NvBackend folder along with those two.... anything to do about it?
Not sure about that 1 i would leave it alone.
@@2020fsers ok noted
I dont have DXCache folder anymore idk why, i dont remember if i deleted or not but even if i delete it should recreate again no ? but it doesnt. Now i found it in LocalLow - Nvidia - PerDriverVersion - DXCache, btw what should I choose in Nvidia Control Panel - Shader Cache Size Driver Default or Disabled ? I want to get ridd of stuttering in games. I always had it on Driver Default but I get some nasty stuttering in Apex Legends idk if its the game or my gpu. Sorry I havent watched the full video so idk if you explained the Shader Cache Size
I would use 10 gb for shader cache or unlimited. It's weird how the dx cache folder moved idk .
@@2020fsers thanks for the fast replay ! 👍
There is no desk clean up in the local c property, any advice ?
I had the same issue. Press the Windows key + R, type %windir%\system32\cleanmgr.exe, and click OK. Or type disc cleanup not showing in Google and will show the above workaround.
Thanks for the info jimbob
Do you recommend turning off hyper-threading is yes or no please explain
I keep mine off I feel it helps with stutters but that is something you will need to test on your system .
Will this affect anything from the fix video you made a few months ago or will I be ok to follow this one to the T cause if you remember i commented saying how that video fixed everything....even my pc ran faster lol. But now ive got some stutters back and i didnt change anything besides turning traffic down more. Im no pc nerd, lol partially why I watch your videos cause they are SUPER informative, just wanna make sure though i wont fuck anything else up. Thanks for the video!
Lol thanks for the comment .. you should be perfectly fine doing this with any other tweak. This is something completely new that nvidia thought would be a good idea.lol. I use every tweak I show on here and I test for a while before making a video at least 2 to 4 weeks of testing.
@@2020fsers Lol @ 1:15 youre like "first thing everyone should do is go in and delete the rolling cache. And everyone knows that when you do that it elimantes a lot of micro stutters in the sim... " and my new self im just sitting here like..."WHAT?!?!? WELL NOW I KNOW" XD LOL thanks for all these videos man, you really have been such a lifesaver when it comes to some of this technical stuff.
Lol 😅 thanks bud I'm really happy you enjoy the vids and get some info out of them .
If you haven't yet check out the msfsfixes playlist on the channel I have lots of different tweaks and things .
@@2020fsers appreciate it!
Why would you want to turn it off inside the Inspector? Have you tried it, what were your results?
Yes I keep.my shader cache off in the inspector and it work perfectly fine on my system no stutters . And it also is ok if I leave it on after the deletion of the cache but here is my thought I don't want msfs creating more 'corrupt files so because it work fine in the off state I leave it off and I don't need to worry about the cache being corrupt again .
i have a weird bug in the pmdg 737
On Final approach , the plane's instruments just froze on final approach. Sound was still working,
but I could not click anything in the cockpit.
physical control inputs still worked
it happens sometimes
but not every time
I use pmdg last update version 3.0.60
i hope your video will solve my problem
Or have you also had this problem and do you know the solution?
Wow I have the 737 -7 and 900 and have not had this issue I also am on the latest version . Have you check the pmdg forums maybe they have a ticket on the issue if not you may want to put one in. I doubt this fix will solve your problem I guess maybe it could but I don't think so .
@@2020fsers Thanks for your response i already started a ticket at pmdg they don't know ;( they say some customers have this bug and some don't and they don't know why
Well that kinda sux
Thanks a ton, I feel like it helped but stuttering is still problem. And I have a higher end PC. There is a video on UA-cam of one user who has identical hardware as I do and his runs smooth. Pretty much hopeless at this point, maybe msfs 2024 will be a better product.
Not all stutters are from the same problem . So there are many different stutter fixes . Also make sure to run msfs in high priority mode.
When I right-click on my Local C: drive, I don't get the DELETE option, but a button that says "DETAILS". When clicked it takes me to APPS option and cannot find the DirectX Sader Cache option.
When you right click on the c drive did you go to properties
@@2020fsers yes. After selecting Properties, it shows exactly what you showed, but instead of Delete, it had a button for Details. I use Windows 11
Hmm idk what to say for that I am not using windows 11 maybe someone can chime in that does have windows 11 .
I had the same issue, must be a Windows 11 thing... on the bottom toolbar search, disk cleanup select C drive.
Thank you
Suggestion I found. For any file that wont delete in the DX or GL folder just restart your PC and go back to those folders and try again. You will get rid of most of them.
Yes that may work for some things but on some of them it won't. like the one pic you can see it's my stream deck causing me to not be able to delete and I could close my stream deck and delete the cache but I don't really care about those I mainly care about all the msfs cache. But that me just me.
Hi thanks for the information, have you used this method on your sim and what were your result? Cheers
Your welcome and yes I do the settings that you see me use in the video is what I use . For the stutters yes made a big difference but please remember that this will not remove all stutters only the ones pertaining to the shader cache corrupt files.
@@2020fsers OK thanks will give it a try
Again, following your directions to delete "ALL" shader Cache ......, but I do not have a "Disk Cleanup" tab and cannot get to something that refers to the DirectX Shader Cache. Now what??
Cdrbuck
Go to your search bar in windows and type disk cleanup and it should come up .
As always your shows are super informative thank you very much I made a mistake and deleted the folder with in the GLCache folder, am I am in trouble
Make a new folder and name it the same name and make sure the letters are capital and lower case when making the folder name.
Worst case scenario is you reinstall the nvidia driver
@@2020fsers I restored them from the trash ben then I probably did what you said thank you very much
That works too glad you got it back
This works in DCS, they always say to delete all shader folders after an update.
Thanks for the comment 👍
Interesting, gone try it out, thx. I see, you also enabled the resizable bar, does that make any difference, any improvements with that? I thought this is off by default.
Hey thanks for the comment .. the resizebar seems to remove some micro stutters for me. But it really all depends on your system some people it makes things worse and others gain fps its crazy the results are all over the board. I did a video on it ua-cam.com/video/03cMA9lnNjk/v-deo.html
The other thing is to enable it you need to update your bios if the feature is not listed in your current bios. And some gpus may need a bios update. Luckily I only updated the mb bios and I was ok .
@@2020fsers Great!, I had to update my bios but not my video card, I'll do some tests today with msfs2020. Ow, and my DirectX Shader Cache was 164mb!
Please let me know how rebar works for you .
Should I enable auto cache on msfs? I have it on disabled
You have your Power Management mode set to "Normal" in that video!! It needs to be set to "Prefer Maximum Performance". I'm surprised someone making videos about settings for FS doesn't know that it's absolutely essential to set Power Management as above. Also, deleting the folders in hte Nvidia Cache folders doesn't cause any problems - they get replaced as the new shaders are built.
Thanks for your comment . I do use prefer maximum performance and for you to say that you are surprised for someone that makes setting videos that I don't know that, is a little rude. I do testing and change my settings frequently so that i can bring you the best settings i find. Also everyone's system is different and to say a setting needs to be set , well, i can tell you there are lots of people that can't run that setting in max performance. This video is solely on shader cache and I feel it hits the mark for that. Thanks for the info on the folders.
Thanks!
Thanks so much I really appreciate the donation 😊. Im.happy this video helped

Do your recommended turning off shader for msfs ?
That is something you need to test on your system . I leave mine on and just delete the cache every couple weeks or unless there is an update then that's the 1st thing to do as well as rolling cache .
i can't change cachesize on nvidia profile,...any solution?

When they try to delete and gives you the option to skip or retry . Look at what it says is keeping it from deleting most of them are not related to msfs and probably related to explorer. Exe or something and that is currently being used.
I have the Steam version installed on my D storage. I need a different path i guess??
What do you mean by that . Steam doesn't have any affect on where your nvidia folder is.
disconnecting the Meta Quest 2 when you play on steam helped me..... no more stutters and highest resolution values now without any stutters 🙂

I don't have a GLCache is it necessary?
If you don't have it then dont worry about that cache directory
what happnes if i set it higher then 10gb?
Higher is better from what I understand but I don't think it will be noticeable .
Why would you turn shadercashe off?
The reason I keep it off (and I have tried on and off with no performance difference on my system) is so that the shader will not create any corrupt files.
When I am flying, the ground changes, in squares, as I fly. Is this a result of this or...Is there a setting that will stop the game from doing this? Thanks for all your help! I love your videos!

@owenklein1917 thank you I try my best to get back with everyone. It's ok if you delete the folder it will get remade .
By the way. This its working not only for MFS
This itd working for every game or app.
Thanks for the comment 👍
I dont see DXCache file in the NVIDIA Folder
Then you may not have 1 . But Some other people have told me their DX cache had moved into a different file folder. You may want to just do a search on your c drive for that file folder.
Try this location instead AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion\DXCache
Changing the Shader Cache Size does nothing to the FPS - placebo. Also deleting the cache does nothing, but freeing some space on SSD/HDD till the next start of the game.
Changing shader cache size shouldn't increase fps and I never claim that it does . But deleting the shader cache will remove any corrupted files thus eliminating stutters in the sim . And yes it will save new shader cache files when you start the sim or any program that uses the shader cache. I can say for sure if you have stuttering caused by corrupted shader cache files and you delete those files the stutters caused by those corrupted files will be eliminated.
Could this help with iRacing?
It's a possibility. Try it
what is the driver version you have? 5.28.02 ?
I am.using the newest studio driver
@@2020fsers Thanks
Your welcome
thanks a lot
Your welcome .. thanks for the comment
to be able to delete ALL files and not have files in use, disable shader cache size in nvidia control panel, restart computer and then use the steps in the video, then reenable shader cache size in the NCP.
Thanks for the tip
After deleting the shader cache I get a high GPU temperature about 75degrees when starting MSFS. Before doing this “fix” the GPU temps didn’t exceed 65degrees in all phases of the flight. I got a small not noticeable performance boost and now msfs is unplayable because of the temps. Not worth it
Shader cache has nothing to do with the gpu fans or Temps. When you start the sim it will automatically store new shader cache.
@@2020fsers thanks, i am still confused how the temps increase when starting msfs2020 now. It’s the first time after months seeing that the PC Fans are using 100% speed. My pc never got loud before. And all of this happened right after i deleted the shader cache. I will try to do a clean install to see if this get fixed
Sry i don't undestand if it's better to put the Nvidia cache off in to flight sim Nvidia pannel.thank you
I can't say 1 is better than the other you need to test it on your system .
first of all, I want to tell you thank you and I really appreciate what do you do for us and for vr world.I started play after your guide, you don't shoot bullstit like other streamer. Well in terms of improvement, I didn't see any difference maybe because my Nvidia cache was clean. The really improvement was after I watched your guide for install without other shit the nvidia. This for me was the key for started to play well before yours guide I can't play, the shuttering kill my head and the graphics was bad, although I had a 5900x 3080 quest2. Thank you again. You are a wizard i watched all your guides, you are really good 👍.
Thank you very much 😊 I do put lots of time into the performance vids and it's awesome when they can help someone like yourself . Thanks again
Just curious what happens if you use unlimited??. Love your content
Thanks for the comment yes unlimited is also fine if you have the space.
@@2020fsershow do you know if you have more space?
Right click on the drive and select properties .
GL cache not showing
Then you don't have any to delete .your good
So gpu drivers that should run your graphics actually F..k it up? Maybe someone should inform nvidea i do not want to jump through these hoops for a game to run normally
Well.its not the driver per say it's the cache files that get corrupt .
But yes nvidia has put out some bad drivers
Msfs even put out a bulletin to roll back to 531.29 if you have issues with the new drivers
I have a 4TB ssd, is it worth selecting 100GB or should I stick with 10GB?
You can try 100 the more the better. Or turn it off and test .
Im just about to trash my sim. 230 gig, over $500 in addons, almost 500 hrs of flight time. Not to mention a $3500.00 rig and I may fly for 90 minutes on a flight then a stutter and CTD. My last two flights have done this and I refused to waste more time and anguish over this. RTX 3080 so Ill try once again. Thanks for your time. If it works for at least a little while Ill donate
Hey Ron I know this sim can be very frustrating but when it works it's great . Please remember that this will only solve issue regarding the corrupt cache files and no other stutter issues. I also have posted a lot of other stutter fix videos in the msfs fix playlist some of those may help you out as well. Also check out the sim 11 update video. I thing the link for that is in the description
Hey Ron I had the same frustrating problems when I first got MSFS2020. The answer for me was to go for broke and re-install windows from scratch and then reload flightsim (8hr. process). Bingo! everything has worked perfectly since. Hope it works for you, don't forget to backup before starting. Good luck.
I don't have any problems with Flightsim 2020. It runs outstanding with my RTX 3080. I'm always surprised to hear that people have so many problems. Must be a something specific to your guys's system. I did try these settings and I don't have any issues with the new settings but I wasn't getting any stutters before doing this either.
@@heinzpilot thanks for your input. In the beginning I was amazed and wanted to spend time flying. After upgrades the video got better but the crashing to desktop was getting worse. I wanted to do a fresh install of the game, but was afraid to loose it all since it is not all physically on my pc. Im about to upgrade from xplane 11 to 12 and just give up.
Yea i agree before they implemented Xbox it was better
What are the chances of getting MSFS to run with OpenGL? I bet it would fly if it could....
If they would optimize the code better and allow the sim to be utilized by more than 1 cpu core it would probably eliminate all these issues we have . But after all the updates they have yet to consider the thought of allowing our 10 and 20 core cpus work for the sim .. idk 🤷♀️ 🤷♂️
@@2020fsers It seems they're more worried about expansion than fixing.....
Btw, Great job as always ✌
I only have GLCache and not DXcache
Here is the updated video .. things changed from the new drivers

I don't have an nvidea card and this is happening
What about shader cache = unlimited ? THX
You can do that as well if you have the space on your ssd or hd.
Did not see the replies below
If you do delete the folders by accident, they will automatically regenerate
Yes they will
I turned it on and put it to unlimited and I no longer have back pains.
Thanks for the comment 👍
@@2020fsers jokes aside actually did this 😂 I'm going to see if there's any changes for me. I recently discovered that the MSI gt77 with the 4090 actually has rebar I didn't even know what it was
Rebar will help very slightly 5 % or so . Let me know how it goes
Never turn off shader cache
Hmm for some reason my c: drive properties doesn’t have the “disk cleanup” option
Are you using windows 11?
This fixed Hogwarts Legacy.
