I worked at a corporate Verizon store for around a year. Back then we had "techs" who would "repair" phones. This was really just the techs and scummy sales staff taking attractive customer phones to the back room to look at and even send themselves naked pictures from the phones. It happened weekly and I got shut down by management when I brought it up.
Lew talks like he plays conversations in turn based combat.
The reason why I uninstalled Facebook, that app doesn't make sense

It's constantly doing something in the background, even when it hasn't been launched. My old phone used to go from 100% to 30% over the course of a single day, after uninstalling the app I'd go from 100% to 60% in the same amount of time.

This has nothing to do with bashing Apple you numbskull. Facebook asks for the permission and "YOU" give it to them. Apple has no influence over this.
You mean giving permission to a third party app that is already known for selling all sorts of data about you just like Google?
It's a bug. Apple or not, the bug was able to compromise the camera on an iPhone so yeah it's a bit ironic how much Apple prides on privacy when Facebook was turning on your camera without your knowledge. Not a good look for both companies. Plus, I've always noticed that all the celebrities that had their nudes leaked all used an iPhone. Most of them were hacked via iCloud. Their privacy ads are all bullshit.

Sol O You’re an idiot. It’s a bug from Facebook. Should I consider all of Android trash since most of the apps on there are always buggy and not as smooth as the IOS version? Most celebs who got their nudes leaked during the fappening didn’t have it hacked but instead gave their own password away through email phishing scam. You can only protect privacy so much but you can’t do much against people’s own carelessness.

I'm young and could very easily work at an apple repair store, but I wouldn't take a picture, due to me properly seeing her gallery to send it, and seeing another persons "private photos" it would scar me. But because privacy is a bigger topic talked about on the daily, I would freak out too, the fact that there is no encryption law is kinda annoying and scary.
How does accessing your camera without your consent a “bug” ???
They have to consciously code that into their app. It’s not like without programming the camera just magically turns itself on.
as a programmer, I can see this type of issue happens without a conscious decision. Programming is messy and the general public is kept away from it most of the time.
Not that I'm defending FB here, I had it uninstalled ages ago along with all the apps and games that need FB to run.
I could see this happening when FB has a legitimate reason to open your camera (such as when live streaming or posting directly from the camera) and the code that calls the camera doesn't then terminate it. Either way this is screwed up stuff.
Facebook already has access to your camera (so you can take a shot from within the app and post it directly, just for one example).
I could see it being that the app is calling the camera when it doesn't need it. It isn't *necessarily* malicious. But I will concede it's a bad look for them especially with all the privacy concerns with them and with the robot CEO up there testifying at Congress about their practices again.
Bug or not, class action lawsuit it should be, potential invasion of privacy it is

Lew a full size acoustic piano is 88 keys not 52. Small synthesizers are 49 keys, other common sizes are 61 and 73 keys. There are some concert acoustic pianos with more than 88 keys, but expense so not many around. So their's you trivial info of the day a real is 88 keys.

When I broke my screen and went to the Huawei store, they told me to factory reset my phone before handing it to them, so I can be sure my info doesn't move around there.
Of course, I could backup all the info into my SD card, a USB pen, etc

The bug is that you can see it happening. When it's "fixed" it will still be there just hidden like it always has.
That Facebook _bug_ is not really a bug, is an app feature and is about using phone camera for videos, photos, etc inside the app, same for Instagram. However what might people concern is the microphone usage while not using that feature. Folks talking about Nike shoes on a conversation and when comes to app, right there starring at them is a Nike ad. That might indeed be a 🐞 I would not love.
That's why i love the pop-up camera you instantly check when it becomes active😉

There should be some kind of safety mode that you can put your phone in when it’s getting repaired, so that it works enough to let the repair person know it’s working, but not let them access ANY of your personal information. Get on it, Apple! 👍

a confidentiality contract should be sign when you send your device in for repair, the legal and responsible way to do these things
every time you install an app you agree to permissions/terms, well a person is more important then a company/brand/corporation

That isn’t a bug, Facebook loves getting information about people. So in this case they would use your camera to see your reaction on your feed and other things.
I hope some brand should start mechanical switch for camera and mic. Im waiting since 2016.

Instagram does this too, my Samsung phone makes a little clicky noise when the front camera is activated, and when i'm in a quiet room and scroll my Instagram feed it makes the sound at random times.

Yea I noticed this for my phone screen too. All I think I can do other than taping my cameras is to keep facebook from using my camera in settings.
I have thought of the apple employee situation before like man people really trust these people who they really don’t know with there personal information! Like wow it’s crazy you know but people can’t help but to trust in a stranger to hope things don’t happen like this. It’s sad that there is some people in the world like the apple employee! The real question is has the apple store employee done this before? And if so how many times has he done something like this. This could be the one instance where he slipped up and I feel extremely disgusted with his behavior as someone who wants to be able to do what he does in a tech store like apple.

Why is there not a repair login for devices that only allows a limitedaccess to things like only settings but only limited access to it and only you can take it off with a code, face I'd or fingerprint.
