      Can you rent a car without a credit card?

  • @SL1PSTAR

    Booking in advance still doesn't guarantee you a specific vehicle type. Most rental companies will keep vehicles at a minimum so in theory your vehicle will not be sourced until
    a day or two before your booking.
    I've worked in the rental industry for 14 years. If there's one tip I would like to share it would be this one....
    ‼ If you don't mind driving the smallest vehicles make sure you book the smallest available. The reason for this is because most of the time the smaller vehicles are not available but the rental company will have to honour your booking, therefore you get a FREE upgrade to the next size up. ‼ You're welcome 😁

    For insurance I recommend getting a credit card that already covers rentals, even if you need it for just 1 trip. I often take a platinum or whatever premium credit card with higher coverage and insurances and once my trip is over I cancel it. In my case this premium card is 14EUR for a single month, but I get more than enough rental and medical coverage. And I use that card to pay for everything because I can set a limit on it and it helps me manage my budget.

      That's a smart tip! Using a premium credit card for rental and medical coverage can be a cost-effective strategy. Thanks for sharing! 🚗💳

      In Berlin and Prague, look for park-and-ride options outside the city center where you can park for free or cheaper and use public transit! 🚗🅿

    Hi. Great vid!! Any advise on petrol v electric?? Eg are there plenty of charging stations?? Does it take long to charge?? Which is a better option in your experience??
    Ill be in Europe for a month later in the year and doing several legs with a hire car. I have zero experience with electric cars. Thank you!!

    • @GregorBrown
      @GregorBrown  13 днів тому +1

      I think that electric cars are still not way to go. Because charging stations are difficult to find in old europe

    I’m arriving in London but can I take it and do a road trip to France?

    • @GregorBrown
      @GregorBrown  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes, you can definitely pick up a car in London and road trip to France! Remember, you'll be crossing from a country that drives on the left to one that drives on the right. Also, you'll need to take the Eurotunnel or a ferry to cross the Channel. Make sure your rental agreement allows cross-border travel and covers any additional insurance or equipment you might need.

    I am renting a car from Zurich Airport and dropping it off in Geneva Airport. Can you please recommend a good rental company based on your experience ? The reviews on car rentals are ghastly. Can I pay for the SCDW insurance for peace of mind ? Or is it a scam, too? TIA!

    • @GregorBrown
      @GregorBrown  29 днів тому

      Renting a car between Zurich and Geneva sounds like a fantastic trip! I've had good experiences with major rental companies like Europcar and Hertz. Regarding SCDW (Super Collision Damage Waiver), it does offer peace of mind by reducing your liability for the rental car, but it's essential to read the terms to ensure it's not redundant with your travel insurance or credit card coverage. Also, check the parts in the video where I talk about that.
