Great timing on this video. I have been somewhat unhappy with the neck profile on my current scratch build. Used this technique and whilst not as fast as your good self I ended up with a result I am far happier with. Always appreciate the content - thanks and cheers from Australia.

He just showed the diffeence in a 200 dollar kit, and a 3000 dollar guitar. Thats's why I buy the 55 dollar kit, or the very best guitar. They make some of the best guitars I've ever seen anyway .... love these guys.

I definitely agree with slimming down "the sholders" on the neck profile... Ive done this to a few necks I've used. Especially being careful the you dont slim down the entire back profile because you're not sure where the truss rod channel actually is inside.....
Although. Ive done a couple of "Neck TWIST" repairs. By routing a 1/4" wide channel to meet the truss rod channel .. from the back. Being EXTREMELY careful to not nick the truss rod.... but used a utility knife to score though the last tiny bit. Then. Clamping down the heel.. and clamping two blocks over top and back of headstock. Using pressure to (un)Twist the neck back .. just a little past (back, reverse the twist) and then glueing in a walnut skunk Stripe... Let it set dry.. and..release the clamps.
I have done 2 , that are still fixed perfect after 3+4 years

I love that you guys work fast and do a great job every time. There's so much pretentious cr&p with people going for days and days sweating over minutia that doesn't matter, I've seen videos where people spend more time than this just shaping a control cavity cover. I'm from the UK, I don't even like bullets on t-shirts because I'm a typical european snowflake, but you guys are great to watch.

Ahoy there Matt and Chris, that was a great look into your build techniques! Matt, I do my necks almost exactly the same way (no deadhead and I really have only done a few necks, heh heh). Chris, your explanation of applying the finish on top of the sealer (no stain) finally soaked in for me 😂Thanks guys for your hard work!!

I have this kit and I'm getting close to adding the hardware. I'm hesitant to install the kit bushings because I think they will be hard to swap out in the future if I decide to upgrade. I would be grateful if y'all could talk about how to remove the bushings when y'all get to that step in the kit build. It seems like you would need some kind of puller to get them out.

Great video... I plan to reshape my neck as well, but I'll probably do mine to my Carvin DC-150 profile which is my favorite for this kind of guitar. What rasp file are you using to reshape the neck, I don't recognize it?

I bet this thing turns out gorgeous. I would love it not in sunburst but in All Orange.
I would also like to see it in Blue or Green. See thru on either. The White binding would really pop I think.
(I am more a Solid Body type guy, but have a love for all guitars.)
A nice inlay of some type on the headstock with the headstock painted to match the body would rock.
    Something like "Kit" or "StewMac".

@@TexasToastGuitars I saw a 335 in a Minneapolis music store window in 1970. It was finished in natural blonde. The only part of it not "to die for" was the price. I think yours would look great in a simple Aged Clear finish. That's just me. I love the look of natural wood.
