- Igloo BMX 25 quart cooler review. In this video I do an ice test on an Igloo BMX 25 and a basic Rubbermaid cooler to see if the Igloo BMX is worth the extra money!

As soon as I heard this mans voice I knew I was watching a subject matter expert
Glad you watched!
I've learned a bunch from this gentleman!
Thanks for the recommendation. I took delivery of a BMX25 from Amazon ($111.00 CAN) yesterday and have just installed a weatherstrip seal.
I cut a tubular gasket to the exact circumference of the lid and joined the ends by 'Gooping' in a short length of soda straw. Then I half filled the cooler with water and inverted it. Surprisingly, not a drop leaked out! Bit of suction getting it open, but no big deal. Next, I'll install rubber feet and cut a 'Reflectix' draft blanket to lay atop the contents. May cut one for the interior bottom as well since the thinner bottom appears to be its weak point. When camping I always keep my coolers in the shade and covered with a heavy duty metallic emergency blanket (metallic side out), but this time I may try "fabbing up" a full Reflectix shroud to drop over it. I also have a SAIL brand soft cooler which fits snuggly into the BMX25 to consolidate the last of my ice and provisions into for an extra day or two of chill.
this guy's accent is amazing!
Any man who drives his truck around with a bbq in the back, ought to be listened to. Thumbs up
Just want to thank you for taking time out , to make a video about the differents between two popular coolers. Made my choice easy !
I bought the 52 qt, and it arrives tomorrow. Your commentary is appreciated, and very much along the lines of our expectations. Not $$$, but it works better than the cheap ones.
Glad your unwanted visitor didn't steal your cooler. I just bought the 25 just like yours only it is CAT yellow. I have a 45 RTIC but wanted smaller/lighter and a lesser price point. The features you pointed out are what sold me on this cooler. Good video presentation.
thanks for the review, bud. also your southern accent is spectacular. cheers.
Thanks for watching Martin!
As always another great video hubby! I love you! 😘
Thanks sunshine I love you!
I love it here
I'm glad you continued on with the test despite the intruder. It made the video more interesting to watch. Thanks for posting and subbed!
Just what I needed to watch. We are currently having a heatwave in sunny Scotland 30C. Nothing compared to you guys but we aren’t used to it out here. Need a new cooler. I enjoy the lovely content on here you two! Take care
Thank you so much and hope this video helped!!!
One of the best reviews I’ve ever seen on UA-cam! Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Excellent review. I needed a decent cooler to keep our contents cold for the weekend. I watched your video and headed over to the Igloo company store. I purchased this exact cooler and it worked perfect for our weekend on the beach. Temps were low 90's at the Gulf and the cooler had lost about 1/2 the ice at the end of the weekend. Now I'm considering getting the 52 quart.
Glad I could help! I'm thinking about getting a 52 as well!
I wasn’t in the market for this cooler but I stumbled on this video and I think it was really helpful. I’m also in Kentucky so knowing how it will do in our summers is helpful!
Hey thanks for watching! I hope it was helpful!
You are the best buddy, I guess someone figured you stashed cash or tools or guns in there. Something to steal and sell. Better yet I bet he didn’t look in the grill you got or cheapie red cooler. I’m from NYC, we love Kentucky, I’d go down there to stay up all night to watch your stuff. No problem. God bless you and yours, and the one and only - USA.
That Igloo is pretty impressive. Great review man!
Thank you!
Nice video Ryan. Great comparison. I have yet to get myself a decent cooler. I have 3 old coolers laying around and it might be time to upgrade.
Stay safe and keep the videos coming.
Jeffrey thank you! A good cooler is definitely a must!
LOVE my BMX like yours. Biggest drawback for a gimpy old dude: NO DRAIN. So, being a SAVY old dude, I obtained a large drain for an Igloo 52-100 at cooler. After ALOT of modification , it functions perfectly! Just back in today from a 2 day roadtrip...just had to slide it to the edge of the seat to drain excess water in the am..and OF COURSE , it still had ice after keeping everything cold in the car for 2 1/2 days! conclusion...OLDUDESRULE!
Great review. Thinking of getting this for work and road trips and I think this will do the trick.
If the cooler were full of cold items, the ice might last longer. Great video! Thanks.
Thats a good point! Plus I just used one bag of ice. I'd say 3-4 days might be possible with more ice and cold items! Thanks!
Good review. I appreciate you making this video as I am considering buying the same cooler.
I have the same cooler. I get great results using block ice and freezer packs. There is less surface area interacting with the air to melt the ice when the ice is in block form. Just use 16-128oz water bottles to make your own blocks
Cracking review lad from across pond, purchasing for me an grand lads this weekend. Will be enjoying a cold beer with their granddad.
pleasantly surprised at such a well-presented cooler review video. Thanks!
I got that same cooler a few weeks back and put rubber window seal on the lid from Home Depot works awesome!
Excellent video & dedication. Thank you.
Great review!
Hey Ryan that igloo cooler is similar to one I have and it works almost as well as an Engel cooler I also own at about a third of the price. The key on any cooler if you need to keep stuff cold is to brine it for 12-24 hours before using it. I just freeze water in a gallon or 1/2 gallon milk jug to make a block of ice and use that. I do a lot of remote fishing/camping trips and have found block ice (in addition to to brine the cooler ) is the best way to go to keep things cold for a couple days.
Hey Kevin thanks for the tips! I'm always thankful for tips and ideas from others! Thanks for watching and for your input!
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it. This cooler is 1 of 3 that I’m looking at. For what I need and for the price I am looking at this one hard.
Just got a BMX 52. Looking forward to the upgrade from my old cooler👍👍
They're great coolers!
Ty for your review . Very helpful
Really enjoyed the video!
Thanks my friend!
In Australia we call them Esky and New Zealand Chilli Bin but basically the same thing, that Igloo one looks fantastic haven't seen one like that, the steel handle and rubber latches are a nice addition, looks awesome 🥶🧊🍻
Cool! It's a pretty solid little cooler I think!
Great review, thanks.
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing.
I’m here just listen to him say “coooler” 😀
Great review 👌👌
I like the handle on this but I want one with a drain too. great review.
The other 2 larger models of this cooler have drains.
great video Thank you man
Great video, thanks for sharing! Like others have said, with more ice and items inside, it would have stayed cold longer. I used to help sell beer at Harley rallies (Thunder Beach, to be exact) and we could get hot beer ice cold in 15 minutes using a combination of ice and water. That works better than plain ice.
Thanks for watching Rob!
Great vid
I saw a kids video that used this cooler for a sports event. On day four there was still ice attached to their can sodas.
👍
those high dollar ones are ridiculous the colman extreme is the best one we ever had 3 two 4 days a few bags of ice.. all you have two do is wrap them in insulation and put expanding foam on the top .. drill holes and pump the top full of insulation...and there better than yeti not that yeti are all that great but seem two be top of the line
Coleman definitely makes some good products. Their coolers are nice! I appreciate you watching and commenting Jason!
This is super helpful. Great simple videos. Keen for more.
More to come!
I got 52 AND tide INSIDE PREMIUM RUBBER inside and keep ice better now.5/16" X 17' White EPDM D-Profile Self-Stick Weatherseal - 1/4" Thick New In Pack
5/16" X 17' White EPDM D-Profile Self-Stick Weatherseal - 1/4" Thick
Nice!
I have one of these that I take with me in my T-800 Kenworth. My question is: why does this thing not have a seal for the dang lid?? If you tip it, water comes out. Are they supposed to have one and someone took mine from the store where I bought it? (It was the last one available after all...)
I don't think mine has one but it would be a good idea!
You should test AR15s in your neighborhood next time lol.
Dang that's nuts
Like others have said. You should try the test with food and drinks in there for real world results
With a larger amount of ice or even a larger ice chest the ice would last longer. That's pretty solid.
It's a pretty good cooler for the money!
"Holds about 37 12oz cans" haha that is the most important thing though, isn't it? I'm glad it can pack an extra can on top of a 6-er and a 30 rack
I had been thinking about getting a cooler for a year and this was one of my top contenders but after going to the store this week Igloo came out with a 25qt Overland and is very similar to this cooler but without the reinforced feet, ruler on the lid or tiedown straps. The handle is a metal bar with a plastic grip and they added a drain plug on it. It was $59. It doesn't look quite as cool but I am hoping it preforms just as good.
I was looking at that one too. Let me know how it does if you get one
I recommend adding a water/air tight gasket as the single most important upgrade. PS, use the handle to tie the cooler down and the strap loops at the corners to attach a cushion or gear to the lid. That way you'll still be able to access the contents when it's tied down.
ok, im creeped out that some guy came up to your place and opened the lid, surprised you still have the cooler....
That Igloo BMX 25 cooler is $149 right now. I have seen it this price at Meijer and Target
Wow!
Good cooler for the $49 I spent for it 5 years or so ago but no way worth a $100. Water pours out around the lid ever time you stop or go.
You shouldn't test it with so much air in the cooler. More air, faster warm up
Just bought a 25oz cooler so I can take food to work.
You would be better off with a " Lifetime " cooler
That BMX would be even better if it had wheels
True!
I refuse to spend THAT much money on a cooler
