I have had it all over my hands and arms as I have had agent orange, gas , all kinds of grease and other oils, chemicals, fertilizers, for the past 80 plus yrs. with no affects that i know of., for over 50 yrs i kept a pail with a couple gal of gas in the garage to wash the grease off my hands when working of engines and that was the old leaded gas, today I would jump all over with anyone i saw doing anything so stupid.
OA does burn if it gets in a scratch on your hand. Also the fumes from doing vape will take your breath away. I got lucky and it showed i had blood clots in my calves legs lungs and heart. Use resperator . Lived thru it to buy right resperator for the product. And got clots sucked from lungs and heart from doctors.
Not from the oa .it just means me going to doctor for my calves being tight. When I told of shortness of breath he sent me to big hospital where they came up with the clots. Maybe oa saved my life. And the bees
yes, you really dont want to breath it. I can feel it burning around my finger nails if its been there too long. I try to keep soda water handy, so I can wash a spot if it starts to burn
thats what Randy put in, but when he tested the strips after it was done, most of the OA was still on the strips. so I dont think it matters, as long as it kills Varroa
@@djg585 if just having it in the colony inhibits varroa growth, it can stay on the sponge. It doesn't seem to kill them, somehow screws up their ability to reproduce. That's why it's not a quick fix it works over time
how many strips did this make and how many do you put on per hive and did you put the strips between the two boxes or slip them down into the frames? Thanks in advance
seems like it was about 400 double strips. one double strip per 10 frame box. the strips have a tear line in the middle. I put mine on top of the frames, and found it worked great if there were frames above. not so much on a single, where they couldnt walk on top of it. I will put some at the entrance this year, like a door mat, and will probably hang some. I dont like hanging stuff because it tends to make that part of the comb unusable. but if it works better i will
Did you ever reach out to Randy Oliver about using those mats as a better medium to infuse the blend in? Cauz from what i can see they don't disintegrate like the sponges he uses in his research
Those colored kitchen sponges that disintegrate are not that good. This work better. Everything with microfibre works good. I think that white side is some kind of microfibre
@@jamesbarron1202 no idea what he didn't like. He might have just not wanted to cut them into smaller strips. I haven't had any trouble with them, and they don't fall apart like the sponges
@@harrisjoubertwithsleepycre1924 thanks! Have you ever done any videos of different vented bee suits. Ones you like or dislike. I’m just getting started in this. My beekeeper is retiring so I have to learn now for my Ag tax exemption.
Looks good. You're a practical guy. A real Beekeeper has to be
thanks Danny

I should not be as healthy as I am because of lots of things I did when younger. probably say the same about the next 30 years
Funny, Soon as I started eyeing them you mentioned the clips. Thanks great job, think I might save this video.
what, you dont save all my videos? LOL
@@harrisjoubertwithsleepycre1924 I ain't goin lie hah I've saved a few. Somewhere down the line I plan to setup playlists on various bee topics.

On blood thinners maybe for life.

Now that's bulk OA
go big or go home
I believe the goal is 50 gm of oxalic acid per hive, or 100 gm of the oxalic/glycerin mix.
thats what Randy put in, but when he tested the strips after it was done, most of the OA was still on the strips. so I dont think it matters, as long as it kills Varroa
@@harrisjoubertwithsleepycre1924
I think we need to find a better carrier, one that yields up most of the oxalic acid.

All the best on your almonds!
I have always wanted to take mine to Florida (from Maryland), but never have.
@@harrisjoubertwithsleepycre1924 correct over 75% remains in these types of applicators.
What is the glycerin called. If I was looking it up
go to Lab Alley, and look up glycerin
Kind of lost me, 4 gallons glycerin to 40 pound of OA? Correct?
My Guess is hes going for a 50/50 blend by weight, that's the ratio Randy Oliver found to be optimal.
yep. 50/50. my first batch was 1 gal. 10 lb. just have more bees now

Didn't get the recipe do you mind repeating.
50/50 mix. 1 gallon to 10 lb OA. make sure they can soak up as much as they can
