- TESTED TOUGH and Ridiculously Consistent 9 SECOND Porsche 991.2 Turbo S
We make six (6) 1/4 mile passes with our Champion Tuned 2018 Porsche 991.2 Turbo S. Incredibly, all of the passes were within .05 of a second of each other. Yes, 5/100th's of a second. We ran a 9.84. 9.83, 9.82. 9.81 and 9.78. The car ran back to back with no cool down and didn't miss a beat all day. Our Porsche Turbo S is powered by a 3.8 Liter Twin Turbo Flat 6 which is rated at 580 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque when stock. We went to our friends at Champion Motorsports to increase the horsepower while keeping all of the stock hardware, except for an exhaust change. Champion added a Tubi Exhaust and Tuned the ECU resulting in an additional 100 horsepower to the wheels. Even though there are a lot of companies tuning the 991 Turbo, we chose Champion Motorsports and GIAC because they stand behind their work and take a safe approach to tuning. We also changed the tires to Toyo R888R's. Needless to say, we are very impressed the Champion GIAC tune . Road Test Network - We Live High Performance!

I have the same car. Only ECU tune 700 hp / 910 nm torque. I ran a 10 sec 1/4 mile with 139 mph trap speed ..on winter tyres and a cold regular road. These cars are incredible 💪🏻
Agree 100%. The 991.2 Turbo S is a great platform that responds to minor mods.
car is running great! hand holding the dragy for that launch!?
DragTimes lol ... You saw that ... Holding the dragy with my left hand, working the sport overboost button with the right ......
@@roadtesttv I noticed you holding the phone too..lol. Is the over boost button necessary when it's Tuned and in Sport Plus? I heard it wasn't. Can you confirm? I'd also like to confirm this is the same "race gas" tune that GIAC has embedded (I paid to unlock it) in the Stage 2 tune? I upgraded to their new Stage 2 pump tune. I've tried the new 93 pump tune but not the race gas tune yet. Managed a 6.37 sec. 60-130 with just the same exhaust and pump gas tune.
@Interceptor2500 We have the same tune as you do. When launching the car on a 1/4 mile pass we use Sport mode, not Sport Plus. In Sport Plus, the spoilers extend which makes aero worse. That said, in order to launch at 5000 rpm in Sport, rather than the default 4000 rpm, you have to press the overboost button. 5000 rpm is the default launch rpm in Sport Plus, but we want to avoid extending the spoilers. Also, our best 60-130 to date is 6.29 during a 1/4 mile pass. Great question and Thanks for watching !!
@@roadtesttv I'm sure you know this but you can setup your "INDIVIDUAL" mode with the Sport Plus power / LC / Shifting but WITHOUT the aero being deployed. That's what I use when making pulls. That'll save you from having to work the sport response button during Sport launches. Like I said above in another post, I was able to run a very slightly "Invalid" (slope -1.2%) 6.37 sec. 60-130 but that was only on the pump gas (93) stage 2 tune. I've not yet tried to switch to the Race Gas tune yet. Need to acquire the fuel first. Thanks for the great vids. Looking forward to trying the race gas tune
@@protectandswerve I have a 991.2 Turbo S, stage 2 and my 60-130 is 7 seconds flat. I thought it should be a bit quicker than that. Your numbers seem more in line with what I was expecting.
How do you like the R888’s on the street? Any complaints? I have a similar set up just in 93 octane. I spin hard on the street on the stock tires
R888R’s are a bit noisy on the street but we’ll worth tolerating the noise for the traction they provide. Thanks for watching !!
That car is so consistent it can win in a bracket race just saying
My car has similar tune in Uk. Es motors. It ran a 10 second on street. I have PS4s sometimes if I launch it bounces off redline in 1st. Won’t change up unless I click paddle. Is it wheel slip that confuses the car. I’ve heard issue with others. Doesn’t happen every time
9's are VERY impressive . Your car is sorted ! On no prep asphalt, are the R888R's a lot better than the Michelin's are just a bit better ? 1.5x Michelins vs 1.4x R888R or closer than that ?
@tom deskins Thanks, Tom. The R888R’s are much better on street when dry.
That is a quick car. Insane you can do that with minimal mods.
"speed costs money, how fast do you wanna go?" Carroll Shelby
Great work. I'm looking forward to this when I sort my tune out next year. My car is more or less the same car you have (color + some options differ).
R888’s on all 4 or just rear?
@Console Finder R888R on all 4. A little noisy, but hook. Thanks for watching !
Hardly no wheel spin. Great launches!!! Great machine!!!
For a 700 hp it very fast this 991 porsche is savage
Incredible power (and speed) for such few mods. I have this exact car and am considering exhaust, intake and a tune but not sure what the dealership would tolerate. Hate to void my warranty but would do it if I can be assure of general dependability. Going to pay maintenance anyway.
@Shawn Tyrie Hey Shawn, may not be a bad idea to contact the guys at Champion Porsche regarding your questions. If you want, PM us and I’ll give you the name of our contact. You’ll be very impressed with the tune and Tubi exhaust if you decide to do it. Thanks for watching!!
Smooth powerful launches
i detect a few haters in the comments
I'd like to confirm this is the same "race gas" tune that GIAC has embedded (I paid to unlock it) when I upgraded to their new Stage 2 pump tune?? I've tried the new 93 pump tune but not the race gas tune yet. Managed a 6.37 sec. 60-130 with just the same exhaust and pump gas tune.
@Interceptor2500 We have the exact same tune as you if you have the GIAC stage 2. Our best 60-130 so far is a 6.29, which was recorded on a 1/4 mile pass and very flat surface. Likely can do a little better starting from a 40 roll. Thanks for watching !
@@roadtesttv Well so far I was able to run a very slightly "Invalid" (slope -1.2%) 6.37 sec. 60-130 but that was only on the pump gas (93) stage 2 tune. I've not yet tried to switch to the Race Gas tune yet. Need to acquire the fuel first.
Hey how much output hp exactly that porsche has?
About 620 horsepower to the wheels about 700 hp at the crank. Thanks for watching !
Nice work!
Which race gas were you using and at what Blend / % ???
@Interceptor2500 We use 50/50 mix of Sunoco 93 and Sunoco 260GT unleaded. Thanks for watching !
@@roadtesttv Thank you! I'll probably try MS109, since that's what I can get around here.
Great quarter mile times but it seems like a waste not to race road courses with it.
Big deal. Lets see what it does on 93 pump gas. Anything is fast with race gas.
I have the pump gas Stage 2 you're referring to (and this race gas tune he's running). I pulled a 6.37 sec. 60-130 with it at full weight (I'm 275 lbs). It was trapping 135-137 during those pulls. So, yes, it IS a very big deal for a stock car with only a tune / exhaust to run 9's!! Especially THE most capable car (Porsche 991.2 Turbo S) for the money that's on the market today!
@@protectandswerve what was your 1/4 mile time on 93. I’m hoping to be low 10’s
@@WolfpackRides Actually never got a good time due to how cold it was and not good traction. Never tried much since it was winter. I did get one pass with a very Slow 60 ft. on the race gas tune. It only ran a 10.6 but did 140+ MPH!! That's easily high 9's with a proper 60 ft. on prepped track, like in the vid of the black car. Here's the vid. They're all on my channel. ua-cam.com/video/Mbe9TJE_pSc/v-deo.html
It should be very low 10's on the 93 tune with proper 60 ft. easily.
@@protectandswerve cool man! Good luck! I’ll give ya a follow! I’ll try to post some videos once I get to the track!
@@WolfpackRides Thank you!!
Is this the silliest car to upgrade in order to go 9's? Either you show a stock 9's or you take a golf or mini cooper and BRING it to the the 9's. Stop mod's to cars made for fast track times while being daily driver. It's like asking countries to a random american..... it doesn't work!
We disagree, as do most people on the planet since the Porsche aftermarket is pretty robust. That said, you’re entitled to your opinion. Can we borrow your Mini Cooper? Lol. Thanks for watching.
Jeremy, You must drive a Toyota Corolla or are too young to drive because modifying a car, boat and in my case a motorcycle to get more HP and driving/riding it on the street is exillerating and as long as you respect other drivers. Besides competing at the track is fun and can be rewarding. It really doesn't matter what you drive, there's nothing wrong with midifications. P.S. It does work!
@@roadtesttv What were your reaction times? I believe the runs you did where your ET times were quicker, but the MPH wasn't always faster, is because your reaction time(s) were quicker.
Hey Clifford. Thanks for the question. Since the time clock doesn’t start counting until the car moves out of the staging lights, and the track was only running 1 lane at a time (no side by side racing) we didn’t focus on reaction time. Instead, we focused on the 60 foot times to get the best ET. Thanks for watching!!!
@@roadtesttv Ok I see. Great video and consistent ET & MPH! you could bracket race it because of the consistency.
