Great video, I appreciate that John didn't reference Sitka items specifically. Just for reference, do you know what he meant by the wind stopper layer? What is the Sitka version? He mentioned the Black Diamond Helium which I don't think exists. There is a Black Diamond Helios, which is a full on GoreTex hardshell; and there is an OR Helium which is an ultralight rain/wind jacket. Obviously very different garments.
Late response but John loves the mountain jacket from Sitka. It’s just a wind stopper shell. They also make a few other windstopper pieces with varying levels of insulation. I love my mountain jacket though.
Just out of curiosity. Have you guys already done or have you considered doing a more "budget friendly" gear list? I really respect your opinions and knowledge but I don't get to hunt out west every year. I MAY get to every other year. I've enjoyed your gear list videos but most of the items seem to be at the very top end of ther price range. Just looking for your opinion on budget friendly items.
Yeah love watching there recommendations for gear lists, but I always have to change brands on there recommendations due to the high prices of everything.
The thing with Sitka is to look for past season models and clearance. There are lots of places to pick them up for 20 to 40% for normal sizing, and smalls and XXL+ can be found 50 to 60% too. I would not and you don't have to pay full price for the clothes. If you are government, Leo, first responders look for places like leoadventures to get % off too.
I think Badlands is a phenomenal budget choice. Pants still run about $130 as an example (compared to Sitka/FL/Kuiu at what?...$2-300 a pair....). Its about 60% the price, at LEAST 100% as durable, performs very well IMO and the fact that everything you buy is backed by an unlimited lifetime warranty just gives me incredible confidence in it. Some people call it crap with a good warranty, but thats ridiculous. For $250 are you REALLY getting 2x the pant?? Hey if you agree, good on ya you should keep buying that. But we all know those other brands are at least somewhat inflated on hype. DONT get me wrong...FL, SG, and Sitka make EXCELLENT clothing, and I own it too...but this is just my opinion I thought was worth sharing. BTW this is my opinion on clothing ONLY. I sold my $250 Badlands pack and bought an SG and for 3x the price ($650) I got a bag thats 10x better. Hands down. In summary: try it out, if you dont like it, send it back and spend more money finding something better.
Thanks for the input guys. I apologize for my lack of clarity. I switched to First Lite last year and had great luck so far. I was speaking more in generalities. It just seems like everything (from boots to sleeping pads) they push on the channel is the most expensive in it's category. It would be nice to hear some good, cost effective alternatives from time to time.
The goHUNT crew all wears a variety of bino harnesses that we carry in our Gear Shop! You can check them out here: shop.gohunt.com/collections/bino-harnesses
You know, we asked for a hooded Kelvin active jacket. They gave us one with a hood... and cut the sleeves off. Stupid. Just add a hood and keep the damn sleeves. It isn't that hard.
Great job 👍 guys on the video I like the idea of Sitka gear But I'm Old School and can't justify price point. The main reason is All the hardships and people who lost businesses because of CHINA FLU. I'M sorry I will not for now buy anything for there God's Blessings and Thank You
This eight piece system is not specific to one brand. You can incorporate this concept to whatever clothing brand you choose. We just wanted to highlight the foundation of what a proper layering system entails and how to incorporate it in your own clothing system.
This is honestly the best video I’ve ever seen to explain layering in a simple way
Awesome to hear!
Hope they can offer more tall sizes in big game line.
Us too! Thanks for watching

Look into SKRE. Sitka quality, better warranty and way lower prices.

Are they ever going to offer a thick Union Suit for Whitetail? I love union suits but I want one that will last me longer than a few season
We will pass along the request! Thanks for watching and best of luck this season!
Please come out with a white or white camo predator hunting, cold weather bibs and jacket line!
We never know what SITKA might have in the works, but we will pass along the request. Thanks for watching!
What kinda bino harness do you recommend
Marsupial seems to be the industry leader. They are coming out with a no magnet version.
I have found the Sitka bino harness very handy.
@@annalongfield ok thanks

@@GOHUNT oh. I know. I’m just giving a hard time to some of the prices these companies charge. I appreciate your input on these topics
