    Thank you for mentioning SUPER GLUE! My wife used to give me grief for carrying this to use for cuts. It burns like fire but it definitely works in a bind and you can use it to mend your equipment.

    That idea of putting the bugle tube end through the back pack strap and twisting it back is INGENIOUS! Why didn't I think of that years ago?! That idea alone was worth watch this video. Thanks man!

    This is absolutely what I needed to see. I've gotten the bug to do different hunts than just whitetails but I've always been intimidated because I wondered how much gear I'd need. Now I know and it's way less intimidating than I thought. That's as much because of the way y'all bring us along with you on your trips and into your world. Many thanks for making me feel like one of the boys!

    When I first started watching Born and Raised Outdoors a few years ago, the idea of backcountry hunting was super intimidating. But, the more I watch those videos the more it makes sense. Thanks for doing the gear dump video. Good to know those backpacks are probably not as heavy as they look.

      I've been doing it every year since I was 16. Gotta come up with what works well for you. I save some room on food by eating 2 grouse mostly every night and cook on a fire. I bring more clothes. However these days I started going into town every 4 days over the 14 day hunt

    Zach, as a fellow elk hunter I enjoy your videos. For many years when I was on a budget I bought economical boots. Now that I can afford any boots, my boot of choice for mountain hunting are Meindl's. I also have a pair of Zamberlans for winter. The Zamberlans can run around $400 and the Meindls are under $300. If I knew they made that big of a difference, I would have still found a way to buy a pair when I was closer to broke.

    For someone living as far south as it gets, can you guys do a video on HOW you plan these hunts and what all goes into it? I'm a hunt over bait guy (Texas has very limited public land) who wants to chase bulls, but since I've never done it, I'd like to know all the prep work that goes into making one happen. I'm a newer subscriber but already liking the channel! Great bull!

    Stick cotton balls in the advil bottle to take up extra room so that doesn’t rattle, they weigh pretty much nothing. Cotton balls and Vaseline or wax makes good fire Starters too. Old man I met in the woods taught me that. We were hiking not hunting but he said he could hear my pill container rattling 100yards away.

    Once in college I got embarrassed in front of my girlfriend because I borrowed my parents' big ol' canvas tent and it was missing some poles. So as soon as I got my loan money for tuition/books/etc. from the bank I went straight out and invested in a great pup tent that's lasted me ever since. That four hundo seemed like a lot at the time, being a broke student, but it was one of the best investments I've ever made in terms of the return in value. I'm now closing in on forty and my five year old son can setup that tent and stay warm and dry in it.

    • @ez7977
      @ez7977 Рік тому +1

      typically packing out, assuming with a butchered game, takes multiple trips. So leaving your gear in the woods while you pack out is typically necessary. I have 'shuttled' game and gear and broke up the return trip before. this way my gear is never more than a couple miles away. I tend to keep my rifle with me as it is a very expensive item.. also, if you return to your vehicle with your gear first, you may have a hard time convincing a waiting game warden that you have intent to return for the meat. Also why most states suggest packing out the antlers last.

    What Keens do you wear for whitetail? I had a awesome pair of super soft bottom boots that were marketed towards bow hunters but i cant find them any more.

    What do you do with the guts when you field dress a deer on public? I’ve been wanting to hunt on public land but I don’t want to leave guts and organs on the ground.
