- Here is how to fold down the backseat on a Chevrolet truck with an extended cab. If you have an old Chevrolet truck or GMC truck, and it has two doors and a jumpseat in the back, this is how to fold up the backseat or fold it down. To fold down the back seat on a Chevrolet Silverado truck, just use the lever on the passenger side of the seat on the bottom, and when you pull it you can put the seat up and back against the back of the cab, or fold the back of the seat down to build a little shelf behind the driver seat. This video shows you how to fold down the backseat on a Chevy Silverado or GMC pickup truck.
Here is where to get a repair manual for this Chevy truck.

Been looking for this info for about a year. Took forever to stumble onto your vid. Thankyou
Wow I have had my 1998 GMC Sierra for almost 5 years and never knew that was possible. Thank you Sir
I’ve never seen one with that lever intact hahaha
My dad has a Chevy like this and we’re going to fix it up and make it my first truck
same bro! post some vids on ur channel i wanna see ur progression
That’s great! My son is using this truck as his first vehicle as well, and he takes it camping and surfing and off roading with a camper shell on the back.
@@xqhiv2 I just might when we get to work
@@fatchicken3535 do you have an insta or snap?
@@xqhiv2 I’ll prolly just post them to my channel
Thank you I thought I broke my seat couldn't get the top backup
You’re welcome.
The seat stays folded and won't open back up into normal possition. When I put it down to open back up it doesn't lock.
This happened to me. Did you figure out how to fix it
I have same problem 😭
My handle appears to have been broken some time ago 😕
Im able to fold mine up...now its stick there. Troed everything. Been that way since 99.
Chevy needs to take note of ford ext. Cab rear seat and make it useful at least .. put bottom seat up have unlevel floor board ! Put a mattress my ass..lol ! Put top seat down and WTH is gonna ride and stay there? Better off leaving seat as is and have a tilt so shit won't fall off in floor. Ford has level platform using both seats and Facts.. because I've owned both and used them.
I don't know what you're talking about dude. My chevy doesn't have a lever for the back seat.
We have a 2001 and I can only get the bottom part of the seat up about 4 in. What would cause it not to go up any further? I have looked and felt and can't see any obstructions. It was hit on the passenger side hard enough to damage the back door . It wont open. It looks like there is plenty of clearance between it and the seat. Could that be enough damage to damage the seat too? It feels locked when you lift on the seat. Like I said it will only go up about 4 inches. I hope you understand what I'm saying lol.
how to do move the driver seat forword and backwords on a 1992 silverado k1500 its a bench seat
The second position 🤯
I never knew
Sweet wife bitching that if I get a truck I need to have the back seats fold never knew on these model chevys till now always wanted one looks like she gotta deal with it!
Bro I dropped my airpod in the seat belt opening
Looks like this is a three-in-one.
Did you ever have to remove the rear seat? I'm having trouble installing one maybe it's bent.
I have never taken one out, so I’m not sure exactly how it works.
Did ya ever find a online or hard copy tutor ?
1A-Auto has a U'Tube vid' real simple process except for the removal out ;-)

Just picked up an old Sierra from my grandad. Couldn't for the life of me figure it out😂. Thanks man!
Glad I could help!

I absolutely love that body style! My '95 k2500 is still going strong (even with some cancer) with almost 200k on the clock.
The last generation of trucks that look like trucks!!! And made to run forever!
Yes last of the good trucks my 2000 Silverado 2500 has 330,000 miles and still running like a champ.
@@johnsundin5484 mine broke down on me at 260 last week
What year is that truck
1995
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you. I have a K1500 and I needed the reminder.
You’re welcome
How much clearance is under the seat, trying to figure out if i can fit a sound system under mine, but the interior is torn apart right now.
The Jack takes up a lot of room on the left side, but on the driver side there is room for a subwoofer.
I used to have a 12 inch sub under my driver side backseat space .. until someone wanted it more than me and took it... sad face
What is the black lever looking thing for on the left side of the passenger seat towards the rear?
I don’t know. I’ll have to read the manual and see if it says. It might be something that you can hook things too so They don’t roll around. It’s a strange place for it though.
A bit late. But that lever is on my 2001 GMC Sonoma but on both sides. What it does is fold top part of seat downwards. Spare tire is back there .
Do a video where you put fluid film on the underside of the truck
What’s fluid film? I did a few videos where I painted under there wit rust converting primer.
Fluid film goes on top of the paint and in the seams and on rust under a car. And then it soak in the pores.
What if that handle and the stub break off?
Then you’ll have to find a replacement handle before you can move the seat. You might be able to take the handle off and turn it with pliers, but you risk doing damage.
@@hoohoohoblin the entire stub that the handle was on broke off, it stopped moving and snapped.
I love this guy
Thanks
Snow Summit represent!
Haha! We like snow summit! Mostly in Summertime for mountain biking.
what can i do if the lever is broken?
I don’t know. Maybe grab onto the little knob with vice grips and turn it that way. You can probably buy a replacement lever on eBay.
@@hoohoohoblinwhat do you call tge lever?
Thank you sir
You’re welcome.
What a great truck that has been!
Yes!!! 25 years old and still truckin’!
Maybe u can answer something for me I recently purchased a 95 Cheyenne ext cab and the previous owners took out the back seat I recently purchased one from a local junkyard but it seems different my truck doesn’t have that rear assembly sticking out on the sides that bolts the rear folding seats down so I’m confused there .
I got the exact same problem. I've got a GMC C2500 from 1998. The previous owner took out the rear bench seat. I wanted to reinstall it, but there's nothing to bolt the bench seat onto. Did you find any solution?
@@TotenwutKanal i actually found the bolts there but it was special ordered didn’t come with the back seat I just want to junkyard and bolted it in
@@joserosas2619 Okay thanks. Do you have a part number or anything for the truck-side assembly to which you bolt on the rear bench?
