@reekhadol Disagree with the BoP favouring Toyota, it might slightly but the other factor is BoP is equalling the cars maximum pace and it is up to the teams to get as close to that. And that is what Toyota has been able to do better than any other team due to having 2 years more experience than every other team bar Peugeot and Glickenhaus but they had their own problems which meant they weren't competitive last year. Sebring was probably the only time the BoP fully favoured the LMH cars due to the extra weight the bumps didn't affect them as much. But later I to the year the Caddy and Porsches were equalling the Ferrari, so equally experienced teams Even at tracks where Toyota would have a larger advantage like Bahrain and Fuji (where no other team apart from Peugeot has actually ran their cars before to my knowledge), the Porsches were close on pace, leading a good portion of the Fuji race and being the 2nd quickest car behind the Toyotas at Bahrain with the JOTA when in clean air but they struggled overtaking the Peugeots and Ferraris due to a lower top speed which gave Toyota a big advantage plus the JOTA vs Ferraris fight slowed them down. The Caddy did alright at Fuji before their tyre fell off, if I remember correctly and can't say much about Bahrain as after lap 1 they were already out it so I didn't pay much attention to how they did.
@@maxb148 I get the experience advantage as a team but they’ve had less than 2 years with the car, and they shouldn’t have been able to always be on top and overtake the whole grid from multiple laps down when something went wrong with one of their cars. And out of both IMSA and WEC, Toyota was the only team doing this sort of thing, and they would do it every round. LeMans was a great performance by Ferrari but if Kobayashi didn’t crash I wouldn’t have trusted Ferrari to stick it out until the end.
@@maxb148 DTM BoP was just as insane but in a different way, in DTM this year if you won a weekend you were pretty much guaranteed to place outside of top 10 the next race because of how big the air restrictor and ballast they would put on your car.
I gotta say @offintheesses thanks for doing these videos, they are really helpful for a noob like me to get invested in US motorsports. Also your passion and interest in IMSA really comes through in your videos, great job. Keep up the good work.
Really glad you're enjoying them and glad they're helping! That's the whole goal is to be a place where new fans can learn and existing fans can stay up to date!
Agreed that it's been big in getting into IMSA. It's been somewhat difficult to find tons of info, but this channel does a great job. Have already learned a lot and going into the 2024 season I think I kinda know what I'm talking about now 😂 😂
With the popularity on the rise in both GTP and LMP2 i would love IMSA to try a prototype only race just to see how quick these cars are without GT traffic slowing them down. Also, i think its a crime that Mosport won't have GTPs. I just think its odd to have an international round and not bring the flagship class to it and i aint even Canadian.
Yeah man. Been to CTMP the last two years and I don’t even think I wanna go this year. GTDs just aren’t enough to make me wanna go. I’m there to see the GTP cars.
we actually talked about this during a recent Rain Race Podcast! ua-cam.com/users/live5KbGw98mjgo?si=mmy88BAsllnsL5Dc&t=972 starts at 16:12 mark! Yeah it's unfortunate that the GTP's won't go to Mosport but I think it's an opportunity for the underrated racing in the LMP2 class to shine! That being said the GTP's better be back in 2025...
The cars may not be as fast as the DPis but at least IMSA handles BOP better than WEC, not to mention that the commentary is better and that the tracks have a lot of character for the most part. It really is a great era for endurance racing.
Oh I should point out that I am Stu! I get some images for these videos from a photographer named Jamey! Yes I will be at Daytona and will try to organize a little meetup at some point!
After a full year of GTP and 2 years of WEC i still can't decide which Manufacturer's car even looks the best The Cady is loud and rumbling BMW, Acura and Lamborghini look angularly aggressive Meanwhile Porsche i can best explain as it just looks right having 2-3 Porsches in perfect single file slip streaming each other while looking so sleek, it looks like the entire car is designed to be on a all teamcar wallpaper Photo taken while running down the Mulsane Straight in LeMans
Yeah this is actually a really good point, not only did all of these manufacturers go out and make a car capable of winning but they all made cars that looks darn good!
CTMP is my home track for IMSA and it’s disappointing that the GTP class isn’t coming this year. Makes me not even want to go this year. GT3s just aren’t enough for me to spend a whole weekend at a track.
CTMP is my home track as well! Yes it's certainly disappointed that the GTP's won't be there this year, that's the overwhelming response. However I actually think this weekend will be better than last years. First I think the LMP2's are criminally underrated, from the drop of the green flag at Daytona to the checkered at Petit I think they provided consistently the best racing throughout the whole season. Better than GTP's but because TV focuses most of their attention on the GTP class people weren't as aware of how good the LMP2 racing was. Whether you're a fan of GT racing or not the growth in the classes are only going to lead to more great racing. With the addition of the new Corvette and brand new Mustang I know that I can't wait to hear them roaring around the track! And this year the MX-5 cup returns which in my opinion is some of the closest and best racing on the planet right now! It's disappointing that the GTP's won't be there but there will be plenty of great racing that is definitely worth seeing that weekend! Sorry for the paragraph!
I assume you mean the broadcasts right? If so and you’re in the US then you can watch it on Peacock or they post the full race the Thursday after it happens on UA-cam. If you’re outside of the US then you can watch for free at IMSA.TV
There's literally only one team that runs them and the only time the team has ever participated in any IMSA events through any of their partnerships have been the Rolex 24. The only thing that blends less than "Ferrari and IMSA" is "IMSA and factory Aston Martin programs"
Sportscar 365 put out an article on this in Sept and it sounds like they just prefer to focus on the WEC this year. Here's the full article if you're interested! sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/ferrari-daytona-bid-with-499p-not-on-radar-for-2024/
Ferrari mostly just cares about the European market to sell their cars in, because they are a very controlling brand and it’s easier for them to control used Ferraris in Europe. A customer team could totally run Ferraris in IMSA but if you’re in that position Porsche is a no brainer choice in terms of cost/support/performance.

I will be interested to see if Toyota will ever make the jump over to GTP. I think they would have some good competition in the IMSA field.
Hopefully we will see an LMH come over along with Aston next year! Having a ferrari or one of the Toyota's on the grid would be awesome!
We really need a Toyota vs Acura confrontation, everyone wants Acura at Le Mans but the WEC BOP favors Toyota so much that it wouldn’t be fair.

Yes IMSA deserves a big round of applause for how they handled GTP BOP last season!!
I agree with you about the commentary, done by John Hindhaugh and Jeremy Shaw, with Shea Adam.

I thought Acura pulled out of IMSA after 2023?
Meyer Shank Racing is pulling out of IMSA. Acura/HRC dropped them after the tire pressure scandal. They will continue with Wayne Taylor Racing
@@leoromo74 - I had no idea MSR was pulling out. Or being pushed out.
Yeah, as people have pointed out it was just MSR, although they hope to be back racing in the series soon!
