I hate how that when you raise a character's approval, they think you're in a relationship with them... I recently did a Warden Queen playthrough, and I told Leliana from the getgo that she was a treasured friend when she complimented my hair and tried to initiate a romance. I was always interested in Alistair and wanted the throne. When I tried to kiss him in front of her, she said she thought it was cute. But, after the landsmeet, she got all sad about our engagement and made it sound like we were in a relationship all along... WTF game?

Anthony Murano The same thing happened to me when I romanced Zevran. I told Alistair early on that I just wanted to be friends, and he accepted it. Later in the game, he acted jealous and then made a sad face when I rejected him! 😞

Alistair breaks my heart in that end bit. He's so mad at himself for thinking the Warden could love him back.

haha I thought about writing that exact thing. Yeah, it would be neat, but I think the magic of human interaction is not quite knowing how they will react. Pretty sure it wouldn't be nearly as gratifying to accept someone's love just because you made your Persuasion check.

Haha brilliant. It's the way her voice changes as she says it too. Starts out stuttering and not knowing how to phrase it then suddenly goes really decisive and uses the most insulting way of term she can. In addition to the physical analogy, I guess it's a dig at Morrigan's uncivilised roots too (growing in the swampy wilds).
I love how all the characters are like "it's okay I'm sorry" then you end the conversation and it's like -50!!!

I've always been confused by Morrigan's jealousy. For a woman who chastises attachment and love, she is awfully clingy.
Abit late here but two reasons, 1 the whole point of her being there is to make a child with the spirit of a god in it (but building up her relationship with you does change things to her wanting to have it to save your life) and 2, she's a tsundere

i went full romance with morrigan then at the end of the game out of nowhere she said i m interested in zevran i was like wait what? so i had to tell him that i dont love him and he almost left the party i had no idea i was just being friendly with everyone and flirty with morrigan
Same exact thing happened to me, except it was Leliana, even though her approval was -7? What the hell? Was more funny than surprising to be honest, when I had to speak to Leliana it was like we didn't like each other plus the option to break up wasn't there so I had to reopen a previous save and then make her leave the group.
it kinda sucks and is fun at the same time to see them get jealous and all but they should have changed the + - to relation level like friendship love hate ect xD. in DA 2 i ended up kissing Anders so i dont make him angry since no middle ground was there x_x

Same shit happened to me. I was romancing Alistair with my City Elf Warden and failed to harden him. Well, he left me during the Landsmeet, and at the very end, suddenly Zevran is like "HEY, YOU ARE MY LOVE". Boy, was I glad when DA2 suggested that Alistair and the Warden may still have SOME sort of relationship!

I got the jealousy conversation with Leliana when I was romancing Zevran but really high friendship with Leliana. I'm all "Uhh, I thought we were just having girl talk. I'm sorry...I guess?" One of the main reasons I never romanced her is because it's glitched all to hell.
takkunelwood Yep, because once you romance her and someone else, then break it off with her, you'll still get her back and pretty much glitch the jealousy moments altogether since this doesn't happen again as far as I remember

Yeah, she does that when her approval is very high and you meet all the prerequisites for her romance, even if you never flirt with her. She has the most difficult conditions to meet for any romance, so if you meet them, the game assumes you are trying to bang her.
This happens with me all the time with Zevran. I'm just being friendly and they all ask about it.

You've got mods that will remove jealousy from your partymembers. Mayby it ruins the experience for you since it takes away a bit of the realism but its worth a try.

Y'know, for a spy, Leliana is really bad at lying. Like, sitcom bad. I really hate getting to this point with Leliana when I want to romance someone else. Then I have to let her down and she seems so sad and then I get sad and then I want to tell Zevran or Morrigan that it's over between us, even though I was planning on romancing one of them instead. Testament to the great voice acting by Corrine Kempa, I suppose.
I'm gay and I romanced Leliana. She was (aside Alistair) my favourite character. Even when jealous, she has that bit of compassion and care for others and not just herself.

It’s like in mass effect 1 with Liaras romance: one scene she’s asking whether you feel the same and there’s three options: one saying you want to be together basically, one where you just want to be friends, and the other where she says along the lines of, ‘I thought we had something between us. Or was I wrong about that?’ And you say she was wrong, but that still classes as initiating the romance. Bloody stupid lol

When I played through this game for the first time, I started a relationship with Morrigan. She's not exactly marriage material, but she offered no strings attached whoopie and the world was ending, so why not? When I met Leliana, I wasn't super interested until I got to know her and she's just a sweeter, more pleasant person. When I started pursuing Leliana, suddenly our no strings attached arrangement got a whole lot of strings. I give Dragon Age credit for accurately depicting what it's like to date THAT goth girl.
I agree, Leliana's personality is exactly what I'm looking for. Plus that accent... Impossible to resist.

@@Mr-Noro DA:O rose to number 1, #2 is Witcher 3, #3 is Dark Souls, #4 is Persona 4 and #5 is Nier Automata.
#1 used to be Skyrim, but I fell out of love with it and cant rank it that high anymore. I keep trying to comeback to it but I always lose interest after a while. Morrowind is also a superior RPG to Skyrim. Hadnt tried it 5 years ago but ranking it would be hard as modern aspects and conveniences makes me enjoy Skyrim a bit more, despite knowing that Morrowind is a better game.
I dont remember what was number 2 back then anymore... best guess would be either A Link to the Past or Fable:TLC. I still enjoy those games, but the ranking 5 years ago was mostly due to nostalgia alone. Fable is still the best Fable game(which is not saying much) and the only nintendo console I ever had was my now dead gameboy, so my other Legend of Zelda experience was Zelda 1 on emulator which is not that high of bar to cross.
And since we are on the topic of RPG and emulations, I also tried Chrono Trigger during these 5 years, which is a fantastic game. Without a doubt my favourite 2D game. And it will probably stay that way as I rarely look out for 2D games as I like 3D more. but on the other hand, the 2D games I tried are often high quality(Check out Hyper Light Drifter!) and I havent tried Secret of Mana(on Emulator as I heard the remake is not as good as the original) yet and I still need to finish Undertale. I bought last summer but my busy schedule and playing in my free time, Persona 4 or The Nonary Games I also bought during that Steam sale kept me quite busy.
Thanks of making me go this small trip down memory lane.

I have over 1000 hours in Skyrim, also played Persona 4 and tried Nier Automata (unfortunetly my pc is not good enough for it, so I couldn't really play it, but I will as soon as I upgrade my pc), and I just bought The Witcher 3 (at least this one runs well in my pc) so I'm only missing Dark Souls, but I'll keep an eye on it

when i was romancing Zevran in 2nd play, i didn't approach Alistair at all when he would ask to chose between him and Zevran so i waited till the landsmeet for Alistair to forget about my warden without doing the rejection part myself

There are two love arcs that have the best payoffs in the story.
One is female Warden and Allistair. He is a lost soul who doesn't even believe in himself at the start, despite everything he has going for him. As the Warden player you not only build his confidence but push him to be more, give him reason keep fighting, and rise to the occasion he is most needed. It's a real kingmaker playthrough and very satisfying story. The affection route with Morrigan here is as a best friend, as she finally opens up and finds someone she can be close to after a life of solitude. Meanwhile, she and Alistair gradually go from loathing each other to sarcastic insults to just friendly teasing throughout the game. It makes it truly painful when she sleeps with him because nobody involved wanted it, but it saves both Wardens in the end.
The other of course is male Warden and Morrigan. The sort of forbidden wild girl who is a truly bad influence. Many companions urge caution, if not outright suggest she will be like her mother and drain your life force like a succubus. Though Morrigan scolds your attempts at altruism, in reality she slowly allows herself to feel and give affection, coming out of the brutal conditioning of Flemeth. If you listen to your companions and common sense and go with Leliana, Morrigan will be devastated. You can actually re-direct the route back to her by completing her companion quest later on, and I think this is strong emotional development for both characters deciding to follow their hearts despite all circumstances and others' opinions in the end.
