    • @celina-
      @celina- 5 років тому

      Subi Akto Hi subi! Overlaying line work makes the line work a darker color than the layer underneath it, so if your line art looks brown maybe it’s on top of a yellow color!

      Cel hi Cel! Actually about the line kinda brown-ish, I kinda point out about pypah’s drawing in this video. Just wanted to put this out there
    You do not need the iPad pro to make digital art. Videos like this are proof of that! Amazing art with apple's most 'basic' iPad usuable with the Apple Pencil.
    The differences between the pro and the 'lesser' ipads is pretty minor if you've not used the pros exclusively. The regular iPad did not lag for me unless I was using a smoothing brush (that creates ideal lines- which is normal because it has more to do). Which sounds bad but cintiqs lag too and have been used by professionals for years and people love them and use them STILL, so to me lag isn't as big of a deal. Most devices (yes including phones) go at 60hz so these iPads aren't slow, they are just slower than the pros. The gap in the screen is noticeable as I like to get waaaaay close to the screen while drawing but after a few minutes my hand adapted to the input of the iPad rather than just on the pencil and it was just enjoyable. I've seen people in my ap art class draw really awesome stuff with the regular iPad and a worn down apple pencil and i have seen one girl draw consistently not so good with the new 1k pro and new pencil. It's more about the artist skills than the tools.
    So if you're strapped for cash, don't think you have to shell out for the pro. Get the 2018 iPad, it's a solid device and good size for drawing. No it doesn't have the p3 gamut or whatever fancy features like it's big brothers, but colors still look bright and pretty on the LCD screen and you will have fun drawing on it!
    Another good option is the iPad air 3 for those really itching for a more ipad pro experience and don't mind spending (atleast in my situation) 50$ more for it over the 2018 Ipad.
    I got the Air 3 on Sprint (data plan +financing) for 25$ +10$ a month (with a phone plan) so it is a cheaper option for me that way as I would only be paying 240 for the device overall plus unlimited data with it! I would have to pay nearly double this for the 10.5 pro because it's discontinued.
    The iPad Air 3 I would reccomend if you want to get a 'semi pro's as it has the laminated screen (which largely reduces lag), anti reflective coating, 4gb of ram, ture tone, and the p3 gamut screen which is a nice touch. No ProMotion but input lag is something that everyone who's ever used a digital program has experienced and is it really that bad? Eh no imo. I'm not about to dump 800 more dollars for a slightly quicker brush stroke and ability to add a more bajillion layers in procreate just yet. I mean barely use more than 7 at a time for a complex piece because honestly it's a hassle to keep up with. Besides you can always merge layers as you work like who tf can keep up with 50 layers open?) A plus for me is it's lighter (great for school!) doesnt have a bending issue (yikes) and will last longer in the Apple ecosystem since it's newer and runs on the A12 chip. I haven't been able to do a hands on with the Air 3 as they have been consistently sold out at best buy and sprint (they are selling more than the ipad pros! Which says a lot) but I should get it Tuesday and will add my thoughts.
    So stop listening to reviewers that say 'its too slow for art so only use it for occasional notetaking :) because the pro is faster' or ' too slow for editing my 4k hdr videos!!!! so it's useless just shell out the money for the pro' or 'blahs blahs blahs Promotion is soooo smooth I could never use a slightly slower device' and especially the 4 speakers thing because most people use earphones or headphones anyway or use actual speakers that can fully capture the dynamic range better so I don't really understand the gimmick for that. Because yeah, the pro is better than the others because it's more expensive and thus has more features.. And if you can get one for less than the other options, and manage to avoid the white spot screen thing or the bending thing than yeah it's awesome. But if you can't, don't sweat over it because the others can do the same things the pros can, just a fractionally slower.
    ***People make a big deal about the Ram and Promotion as if the regular iPad is going to fall apart if you use 2 apps at the same time. My workhorse pc has the same amount of ram as the iPad air and I can have 20 tabs open, a game running, and krita open and switch between them with ease. And I've never had it crash photoshop even with other stuff open. Maybe it's not uber speedy like my s10+ (8gb ram) or a gaming pc but the difference in speed is so minimal can I really say my PC is unusable or too slow or even slow at all? No. It's still fast and I've had it for 6 years!***
    Sure, the 'Unpro iPads' aren't as fast as the 1k Pros are but they aren't slow. They are all optimised to work with their individual systems and im sure you can run any app to your heart's content without issue.
    Edit: my bad the iPad air 3 has 3gb of ram!

    • @lanny3230
      @lanny3230 5 років тому

      Okay the iPad Air came today!
      Having never used a tablet this thing feels huge out the box! It's the perfect size for any artist as it's not too big where it's cumbersome, or not too small when you feel there is no room to drawer lay your hand. And ofcourse procreate is noninvasive anyway so the whole screen is artistic domain! It is the size of a sheet of paper , and I feel at home drawing on this size ipad.
      It runs very smoothly and 120hz can kiss my cheap butt. Animations run butter smooth and unless you have been using the iPad pro and nothing else I doubt you've experienced a tablet that renders this smoothly. And the colors are so bright and vivid for an LCD screen! Colors really pop and I can't wait to split screen videos with procreate!
      Apple Pencil: Amazing! It feels awkward sometimes on the screen as you would expect. It's like turning on a windshield wiper on a dry windshield. So there is some friction that a matte screen protector can solve. Pressure sensitivity is very good and the pencil is very responsive. Sometimes it feels overly responsive as it captures even the slightest of movements. The pencil itself is a bit thicker and heavier than I imagined but is comfortable to hold and draw with (coming from a small handed person).
      The most important thing is lag. There isnt any that I can observe with my naked eye, and like I said I like to get close to the screen.It doesnt feel sluggish or stuttery. I think there is a big difference between the iPad 2018 and the iPad air and pro models. The laminated screen seems to make the most difference, as a slight lag is noticeable when drawing on the iPad 2018 because of the gap vs the air which doesnt have any that I could observe.
      So far I'm loving it! Would defo. Reccomend the iPad Air 3 if you have the money or iPad 2018. Both are great for anyone into drawing and painting digitally.

    Yay! Another tutorial using procreate and ipad. Btw, if you don’t mind I have several question for you...
    I know you use Ipad 6, so sorry if my question is about this gadget.
    1. Do you have any complain about drawing on Ipad 6?
    2. Do you have a problem about the screen not laminated (the gap on actual screen)?
    3. How about the color on screen? Is it accurate?
    4. Did you ever print your artwork that made from this ipad 6? If so, how’s the result? Is the color correct?
    5. If you don’t mind can you give me a short comment about ur drawing experience using ipad 6.
    I know that’s a lot of question. But i hope you can answer me. Actually, i’m gonna purchase ipad 6 + apple pencil in very near future. And your input is gonna help me a lot to be sure. Since i also draw and an artist my self.
    Anyway, i love your artwork 💖💖💖

    • @a.p.official787
      @a.p.official787 5 років тому +10

      Subi Akto I know I’m not Pypha but I’m also an artist and use the same iPad. I can give you my personal answers/review.
      1. With this iPad is very smooth and easy to sketch. It is a bit weird transitioning from pencil and paper. You get used to it after a while. The more you play around with it, the better it gets.
      2. You don’t really notice the screen isn’t laminated unless you’re really looking for it (if that makes sense). Something good about none laminated iPads is that if you crack your screen, a laminated iPad will cost you sometimes double the amount of a none laminated to get fixed. The price can be so high you can just buy a new one.
      3. The colors are just as you can see, but it depends on what kind of devices you’ve used before. The only thing you’ll notice is if you share your art, for example Instagram, the app will downgrade the quality a bit but that isn’t the iPad or Procreate’s fault. It isn’t too noticeable.
      4. Procreate and your IPad shouldn’t have any fault on how the printing of an image looks. That is based on your printer and the kind of ink/paper you use. There’s also, on procreate, you before you start a canvas (when it asks you for the canvas size) you can choose the pixels and that can affect how your image looks. If you choose the highest resolution, when you post online the resolution will adapt to the app colors it can handle. (there’s a UA-cam channel called “ e r g o j o s h “ that explains how this works).
      5. The iPad is amazing. Although everyone calls the 6 the “budget iPad” and it isn’t laminated, those things don’t matter if you enjoy drawing. It’s great for multitasking, amazing and smooth for drawing, and for being a cheap choice it is fast and reliable.

      A.P. Official i am an artist and i use this ipad. It is very easy to use and you do get a bit used to from importing ur picture to procreate, I had got this ipad when it first came out and i noticed the screen wasnt laminated, but i looked at it really carefully! I hope this helped!!

    I always liked digital art better than real art. The fact that you can combine them is amazing! I ordered an ipad air and an apple Pencil. I will edit this comment when I will try procreate (after I buy it).

    A tip is instead of putting line art on overlay put the line art on alpha lock and get a bigger brush and just change it like that (it's easier)
