I don't know about you, but I always thought that the SMG4 series wasn't supposed to make sense. I love this series to death as a whole (especially the story arcs), but I understand what you're saying here. Hell, I feel the same way about this series sometimes.
My problem with the Lawsuit Arc is that it barely involves any law. I kinda wished the courtroom would be one of the few places in the SMG4 universe that would be taken seriously, since it's literally something that can threaten their entire existence. And seeing Lawyer Kong just smack Meggy during court infront of the judge felt like it was building up to a lawsuit against him. I really hoped that his defeat wouldn't be a rap-battle, but a kind of counter-trial.
I would honestly describe this arc as messy, yet fun. I loved things of this arc like how they reestablished that brother and sister bond Mario and Meggy have, but it definitely felt rushed multiple times. Though you can't deny that the animation in the rap battle was fire! Also, I loved how they referenced past villains and the rap battle felt like a recap of what the characters went through. Overall, not the best arc, but definitely enjoyable.
I can't believe people actually review smg4 videos so thoroughly like this. I know they have a bit of arcs and lore to his videos and content but to me Smg4 has always been just an awesome guy who makes funny and cool meme videos. Also I hope you guys don't think I'm hating on people for doing this it's more of just surprising
@@e1iteyoshi998 OG fan here, came back to SMG4 after hearing about his redesign was admittedly on the bandwagon before of "it's gotten pretty sucky" before, but i put my biases aside and took a look at it fairly and i honestly had a pretty fun time with his content there's some things i don't like, honestly, but if i'm being fair there's still a lot of enjoyment to be had like Mario stuck in the door or when he was exterminating Minions, and there's even some changes that i like like Mario being more compassionate towards everyone i think it does go to show nostalgia really can cloud judgement, and even if i still do prefer a lot more of the older videos i think saying that the content is awful now compared to before is a flat out wrong statement

Maybe instead of SMG4 (the character) being connected to Luke which is why he died, maybe hes connected to the SMG4 channel and so died when it was deleted? but yeah that one line in wotfi suggests otherwise, the writing was a let-down in this arc. Though i did like lawyer kong a lot as a villain, and personally didn't find the voice annoying, but i can see why you did. By the way, what are your thoughts on the redesigns?

Boot-lickers defend it at all cost, cause if somebody even has a single problem with a new episode, they’re considered haters because SMG4 “can do no wrong”
I think when smg4 said I was just a stupid little child, I think they were just referring to the first episode that had smg4 in it or the first video of of the smg4 channel entirely. The evidence of it is in the 10-year anniversary special trailer where they explicitly mention the first ever video. That's not only a nice reference for the movie, but is also possible confirmation that my theory is right.
Honesty I feel like one of if not the biggest problems this Arc has is how there's a lot of good ideas but they're normally very rushed. When Meggy becamw an Inkling again it was such a big moment that it looked like it would last until the end of the Arc but instead she changes in the very next episode. Same thing with Mario becoming normal it could've lasted for much longer but he's turned back in the next episode by memes of all things. Plus there's also the Breaking Luigi episode which I think could've lasted for longer as the idea was great especially with Bob and Boopkins working for Luigi but it just ends up not being important by the end of the Arc. This Arc is just wasted potential to me and should've been better then what the end product we ended up getting.
I hope that this Wotfi would be like ace-attorney style: calling witnesses, cross-examination, and using Wotfi chalanges as proves, not just as random jokes.
Lawyer Kong was a good character. I liked when he was on screen, and it felt refreshing having a Mario character as an antagonist again (still hoping for a Bowser arc), but he wasn't a good villain when compared to Zero, SMG3, and even Francis and Waluigi. I feel like this was supposed to be a more laid-back arc after having 2 arcs focusing on Zero in a row, kinda like the Rapper Bob arc since Bob wasn't a particularly good antagonist either
Now that you mentioned it, I do wish Bob and Boopkins did play a big role in the arc. Bob's redesign does look pretty good, tho. Also, I just think it's nice they brought back Lawyer Meggy either way.
Even I think Boopkins' redesign is weird. But I'm sure I'll get used to it. He does look like a Sunset Paradise character. I do think SMG4 and SMG3's redesigns are kinda cute.
Well, in my opinion, Luke has tried to do more of a comedic arc than a serious arc that is too dependent on the previous stories. Overall, it was interesting for me. The silly stuff and the fun battles with the Nintendo ninjas was a nice way to take a break from the anime stuff or the previous stories. And as for Lawyer Kong or Funky Kong, he plays Nintendo's lawyer in this arc, so he's legally bound to stop Nintendo-related crimes, but many say he doesn't have a particular motivation as a villain, which I think it is wrong. A lawyer has to do the necessary work for his company, but after realizing that Nintendo doesn't value his words, he reverts to his old self. Considering the story that happened and not comparing him to other villains, Lawyer Kong played his part as a good and fun villain in this arc. The problem is that from now on, arcs are always going to be compared to Genesis arc and Revelations, which I don't think is right, anyway, one of the points of this channel is the random adventures of Mario and his friends.
Had me in the beginning and then at the end pulled me out. Ofc thats the point of the channel. Thanks... for telling us that? But really, this felt like a ginormous filler arc. Which I guess is SMG4 every episode, but the difference was there was little consequences and it was overall dumb in a good way. This aint it chief. This shouldve really had about as much relevance as that of the Waluigi arc, and yet it falls more flat than the Rapper Bob arc. Sure, he served his purpose, but at what cost? A predictable arc that had a pretty kindergarten level understandable ending? Nah chief. More mid than the Pittsburgh Steelers. And the redesigns, aside from Bob suck, Fishy Boopkins out here looking like baby's first blender project and Luke looks more generic than the average NYC street. SMG3 out here looking like a dollar store "chad". Overall, couldve really been much better imo.

I think we need another dive at the smg4 iceberg because holy hell with how much time has progressed from the last one that was reviewed it’s safe to say it might be even more confusing and frustrating to go through now with the contradictions from this arc and the ones before it
@Jako yeah I agree there must be like almost a thousand of entries from then to now but yeah hopefully Luke will someday just take the time to look at his lore and establish what is canon and not and continue from there but yeah hope to see another smg4 iceberg review in the future
I feel like this arc wasn’t for story but for comedy, because the ultimate episode where Mario is fighting lawyer Kong is hilarious on purpose. This also explains why the villain is so goofy and why the lore isn’t effected that much, because this arc was probably made because smg4 had a bunch of Nintendo related jokes and so made a Nintendo related arc me thinks
If they wanted to do a comedic arc, they shouldn't have forced a dramatic moment where everyone dies. Nor tie it back to the Genesis arc (your most serious arc).
im gonna be honest, the anime arc probably was the best plotted one since it was unpredictable, not saying it was the best story since they were just going after a dweeb with a pencil edit: the wotfi arcs i enjoyed overall were the waluigi one, because it actually made sense, he forces people into a challenge because hes a tyrant, and the youtube arc as well since, seeing smg3 fail was amazing
Gonna have to disagree on that one, while anime arc was and still is unpredictable, that doesn't automatically mean it's a good thing, it just feels like it's two arcs separately without rhyme or reason, meggy's kidnapping was sudden and out of nowhere with literally zero buildup
Only thing I hated about that arc was Desti's death, which just made no sense with everything that wss established up to that point. Up to then, dying was just a minor inconvenience they could bounce back from next scene. And Desti actually dying just... didnt make sense. At all. Sure some people justify it as not being close to Mario as the others but like... that doesnt matter, this breaks the conventional rule of SMG4: Dying is but a mere inconvenience that should not hinder your progression into the next scene. This was a major juxtaposition of that rule. And honestly kinda marked the beginning of the end of the mostly fun and interesting episodes. In a way, SMG4 kinda died with Desti. The numbers wont say it but it definately did tbh. I miss the old stuff man.
@@kyperactive yeah desti's death spawned probably the worst trend in smg4 arcs about having to kill characters to do an impact, even tho most of the time that impact falss incredibly short (atleast imo, a lot of the fandom is really sensible to deaths as i've seen people get REALLY affected by it). ALSO another really big flaw about desti's death is just how much it affected meggy, like it really came out of nowhere, desti was a pain in the back for meggy's team, not only wanting to steal mario off her team and straight up cheating by stealing their weapons, literally 2 videos before her death they were enemies to death and just suddenly meggy cares so much about her death to have 7 breakdowns in the span of a week

Deference between the 2 is sml uses marketable plushie and set into real life. Also you can mistake it for being apart of nintendo from how it appears. Sml is alot more edgy and encourage bad behavour while amg4 is alot more light hearted and don't rely on edgy humor

But I believe that Meggy being a lawyer in the Lawsuit Arc is only for the arc, I think they're probably gonna go back to the sports teacher job in 2 or 3 weeks. Here's my honest opinion on the lawsuit arc. Yes, it's just repeating the UA-cam arc so it was impossible to feel sad because we knew what was gonna happen. The beginning was perfect as you said but the way they executed the story was rushed. I get lawyer Kong was made as a joke but that is why he's not a threatful villain. Too many SMG4 fans actually thought Nintendo signed a DMCA at SMG4 and if that was the case they would've already done it so Nintendo clearly doesn't care yet. If Mario was in splatoon 3 didn't give me any connections to splatoon 3 because the game just came out and there's no Gmod models that they could work with. (But you gotta admit putting TF2 eyes on a manta ray for Big man was funny) but I don't see how that whole video was supposed to be splatoon 3. Breaking Luigi was just SMG4 turning Luigi into Walter White. I laughed at the video but knowing it was just to keep the Lawsuit arc going just killed it. Then after that was just the UA-cam arc being repeated with all characters dying and coming back to life with a WOTFI for which I was kinda wishing for a normal WOTFI this year. And yes. You did point out SMG4 broke so much lore of what was said in the past. I don't want to see this story take a huge downfall but unfortunately it's going down that path. Last of all: The redesigns just felt pointless because all the characters that did nothing this arc got it. All the long time fans are just going to hate SMG4 for doing that. The time was right for Meggy when that whole thing happened to her in the Anime arc as you stated but ya. Honest opinion 4/10 Had potential but the was it was executed was bad. I don't wanna hate on SMG4 because it's his channel and his characters but he's not doing a good job keeping his lore straight
Personally once you think about it, boopkins design is fine. After all, compared to everyone else in the main group, who is an adult or teenager, boopkins is still just a kid, he's still growing
I know a simple way to fix all the flaws in SMG4 you need to be recruited man because you pay more attention to details you’re pointing out things that weren’t executed right. You find alternative ways to make it these episodes better possibly funnier and that’s why I like watching your videos because you point out these things you find alternatives to make them better

Great review! I completely understand why you didn't care for this arc, personally I like it! Is it predictable? Yes. Is it a simplistic story vs the Genesis or Revelations arcs? Yes. I'm just glad nobody died at the end! Also, around May when I started binging SMG4 episodes that I missed out on, I was concerned if SMG4 would actually get sued, and that made me realize "Hay, they could make a story about it", and sure enough, here we are!
I liked The Lawsuit Arc, but even I'll admit it felt rushed. In fact, I feel like a lot of season 12 has been rushed. The Kaizo story was so short, both arcs have only been the minimum amount of episodes allowed for an arc, Clown Fever had a lame ending, a lot of episodes are less than 10 minutes, and it seems like they just completely forgot about the Games Be Like... series. However, I will say the WOTFI rap was awesome in my opinion and it's impressive how they managed to make Lawyer Kong sound good in it.
There are also the Mario Does Things videos which they keep reusing the same ideas for. Mario Tries Life Hacks 2, Mario Reacts To Funny Tik Toks 2, Mario Reacts To Nintendo Memes 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11! Why can't Mario do stuff like speedrun Super Mario 64 or react to weird Nintendo commercials anymore?
tbh i wonder if after the first couple kaizo arc episodes they got reminded that nintendo exists and could easily destroy them at any moment, and were like "AH! we need to deal with that!", thus leading to the lawsuit arc, and kaizo's arc getting rushed as collateral damage of a complete 180. But because some of the resources normally used for making one arc had already been used on the kaizo arc, that caused the lawsuit arc to become lower quality as a result. and tbh, the lawsuit arc would have worked better if it was allowed more time to progress in a more intricate manner, and then ended not in a wotfi but in a court-themed smg4 movie type gig. heck, they could have decided to experiment with doing the kaizo arc as a simultaneous but seperate arc that could have then also interacted with the lawsuit arc as well in some way. i'm not sure how wotfi 2022 would fit in with all this, but maybe that would simply have been a standalone gig started by mario calling one of smg4's memes cringe or something idk lol
Funky Kong also has probably one of the worst motives in comparison to others: Waluigi wanted to make everyone suffer because of being rejected, SMG3 wanted SMG4's channel, Francis wanted an anime island, and Zero his own universe back. Sure, most of those aren't serious at all, but it was a goal in mind that pushed them forward since the start. Lawyer Kong was just... Mario doesn't want to work with Nintendo, so he gets mad and wants to get rid of everyone. That's it. It didn't even feel like he was being backed up by Nintendo most of the time, just that he was throwing a tantrum out of spite even though Miyamoto was fine with things at first. With Waluigi at least he was doing things for himself, but with Lawyer Kong he was doing something for someone who didn't even have an issue at the start
a great motivation for him would be him wanting to get rid of the memes that "infected" the world, it would be understandable, and would make us question the impact the memes had in the SMG4 world, he could have a backstory where the memes somehow affected his life in a bad way, making him determined to end SMG4 and the memes that came with him, that would be the PERFECT reason, but they unfortunatly missed this great opportunity

I felt like it was just short, and the "Clown Fever" video should of been a start of a arc, because like the clown has more backstory like how his girl thought he was not the biggest clown and how he was a failiure, it's like the waluigi arc, how he had been rejected from the smash game.
I appreciate how in depth this discussion is. Awareness and constructive criticism (done responsibly.) are pretty much the best existing tools used for changing things for the better. I also agree with you about Wotfi. the repetition and predictability we saw this year took away from the celebratory nature of Wotfi. when we got to the song battle, (doesn't really feel much like a rap anymore, but I get why.) Last year, they killed off Axol. that was a huge* surprise given the fact that Axol was a major character, and not a supporting role. in addition, they let Melony grow as a character in Wotfi 2021's aftermath. this year, they threatened to remove all Nintendo characters, and kill off everyone else. What reason did we have to believe that they would go through with that? (*): Forgot to mention, it was an outcome you could potentially foresee, but it was surprising that they went through with it anyway.
Anyone else feel that because of the origin in smg4 revelations where it's revealed Smg4 is the reason everyone acts so dangerously stupid kinda makes it hard to root for him, like at that point he's practically the Villian.

I like this arc, but I would've personally changed it so that it ties in with the aftermath of "If Mario was the last man on earth." Remember how his friends just abandoned him just for some stupid pizza competition? Then when he ruined it, WHICH WAS JUSTIFIED, they all beat him up? That doesn't sound like something friends would do to one of their own! Then I remembered, this wasn't the first time Mario's "friends" have treated him like shit (cause trust me, there were other times). So I really wanted this new arc to finally be Mario's breaking point. In fact, here's a little summary of what I had in mind. So things would start off after the pizza incident. Everyone realizes they may have been a bit too harsh on Mario, so they each try to apologize individually, but Mario avoids them, saying that's all in the past and he's perfectly fine. Though deep down, he's in a state of grief, negative thoughts and emotions flowing through his head. The embodiment of his emotions takes the form of a evil version of himself, we'll call him Mr. M. Now Mr. M is constantly urging Mario to stop being a weakling and leave everything behind. Eventually, Mario gives in, and this leads to a huge emotional argument scene, where Mario decides he's had enough of his friends and declares that he's leaving. Some time after he leaves the Mushroom Kingdom behind, Smg4 and the gang finally come to grips with the fact that they've been horrible friends, so they decide to go out and find him. While that's going on, Mario becomes a depressed hobo, until he meets a new group of friends who actually respect who he is, his attitude also changes and by the time the gang finds him, he is a completely different person. More drama occurs and Mario dissapears again, and we have this scene with Mr. M finally getting into Mario's head, and he turns to the dark side (kinda like Waluigi in his story arc). Mario decides to use his Avatar powers to create a new universe, one free of Smg4, Meggy, and everyone else that wasn't in his life before. Essentially, he wants to create a world before Smg4 came along. Back when things made sense. I'm not really sure what happens next, other than Mario facing off against his friends. During the fight, Mario comes to his senses, but Mr. M fights for control. Eventually, the two split from each other, which leads to another epic battle between Mario and Mr. M. Of course things go well, and everything is resolved. The end
Im gonna make this comment as I go through the video. I wanna make it clear I have been a fan of smg4 since late 2013 and still continue to love this series. I personally love his new arc formats and adding lore, character development, emotions, etc. to his unique world. With that out of the way lets go into it. So far im 2 minutes in and im glad you highlight some of the good stuff it did. I think in terms of concept this arc was the best, because it takes a scenario that could happen to Smg4. Now you mention how more videos in between the previous 2 arc and to that I do agree, I wish smg4 did a better job at making these arcs stand out. He did it well once when we did the anime arc and than the youtube arc but ever since then its been fine to meh. Now in terms of missed potential, I cant say I agree. What missed potential is there? You never give any example of what could have made the story flow better. A 4 episode arc? God no, why? I think the problem for me is when the episodes arent long enough. If the arcs were consistently 17 - 26 minutes long with 5 - 8 episodes each I see that as an amazing amount. Every show has filler, you kinda need filler to make the major plots stand out more. I completely agree the start of the Arc could have been better, but the entire execution of this arc I think was very well done. You than mention how nothing changes really from start to end of the arc. Um, what? Did a lot change no, but what was gonna change to make it seem like a lot? Because the way I see it having all nintendo characters revert back to "normal", non nintendo IP characters getting deleted, Smg4s channel being temporarily deleted, the redesigns of Smg4 smg3 bob and boopkins, and an arc where Violence isnt the solution at all? I think those are some pretty big changes personally. I will say that those changes should have lasted longer to hold more of an impact. For example they completely rushed mario reverting to his nintendo self and then back to normal. Ill have to check out your wotfi video so I wont talk about that. However what I will say is I dont mind the wotfis being in the arcs, I remember back in 2019 I believe when they went back to the OG wotfis and it just wasnt good, it was bland and boring to me. Besides its War Of The Fat Italians, sure it started off as smg4 vs mario but them being on the same team makes the title still work. As for what you say for the redesigns, I do agree that the process should have been longer but doesnt that contradict what you said about the arc should only be 4 episodes? I understand you said because of filler it could have been that short if you took it out but again all shows have and need filler. I dont think the arc was to just change the designs, I think its smg4 wanting his characters to hold their own and be unique aside from the MAJOR ones like Mario, Peach, Bowser, etc. I see nothing wrong with them at all. I can understand if someone wouldnt like the bob and boopkins ones but the smg4 and smg3 ones makes perfect sense to me. I do completely agree however how they should have implemented the characters that got redesigns way more into this arc, but at the same time it makes sense that it would focus on Mario, Smg4, and Luigi just as much as the others. I dont see why you say smg4 and luke are not connected when in genesis arc its luke plugging in the usb seemingly to his computer to create the world of smg4. Smg4 the character doesnt know his origins aside from that so when you mention the point of him saying a childhood I agree that, that is a clear contradictory. But im gonna be deadass with you, who cares. At the end of the day theres a lot of contradictory throughout the entire universe of smg4 and smg4 is supposed to be luke inside the world of nintendo/mario/internet, etc. I just dont see it as that major of an issue personally. And then your comparison of the youtube arc and lawyer arc is wrong. The characters didnt die in the youtube arc, they were all just sent to the internet graveyard. Where as in the lawyer arc they quite literally died. And wow that to me is a surprising take on Lawyer Kong, I thought so far he was the best antagonist so far in the series. He is smart with what hes doing, he is actually threatening in a different way than the genesis arc, he is a competent villain. In my eyes that was the problem with antagonists such as waluigi and smg3 where it was all just power that seemingly fell into their hands instead of being competent at all. They were never scary to me for the series. I will agree though that the entire kaiso and lawyer arc should have not been rushed in anyway. I dont know why they would feel the need to rush anything in the first place honestly. Im glad youre here giving actually competent criticism for the most part because not a lot of fans do that for smg4s universe, but at the same time when giving constructive criticism you have to provide your own examples on how it could have been improved. I could name a lot of things I would do differently whether based on my own taste of what I love about the show or based on something I didnt like as much. I personally loved the arc still and I view it as the 3rd best arc weve had behind the waluigi arc and Genesis/revelations

So arcs feeling slowpaced or an arc episode that has very little meat to offer is what bothers us. You can't just tune in without a little context, but you only come out with little to gain. >Um, what? Did a lot change no, but what was gonna change to make it seem like a lot? Because the way I see it having all nintendo characters revert back to "normal", non nintendo IP characters getting deleted, Smg4s channel being temporarily deleted, the redesigns of Smg4 smg3 bob and boopkins, and an arc where Violence isnt the solution at all? Rapper Bob did the last thing already. The deleted stuff were reversed so everything is going back to normal like the UA-cam arc or Zero's damage. The status quo. I think a lasting effect is what he is talking about. You don't have to like WOFI 2019, but a lot would prefer these arcs to end naturally and not predictably, especially when higher stakes are involved. More of an adventure like the movies and Final Hours and less 15 minute filler collabs+rap battles. Holding their own huh? If SMG4 wanted his characters to hold their own, then he failed with how 4 is the only redesigned/original character to do something of value. There had to be some balance with how this arc involved multiple factions, but the character scope was just small with only the Main 4 who didn't need this much focus aagain. A few problems I have with this arc is just all the side characters don't have much say in the events until the end for challenge filler. Like with SMG4 being why the universe and its residents are messed up, it would effectively mean their memories are effectively a lie? Does anyone react? No. Does anyone actually want to resist or accept Lawyer Kong's rule? Does anyone care that their lives may permanently change forever? No. Considering that the OCs who would get mass killed off are the ones that have little say in the arc, the serious aspect of this arc falls flat. In regards to Meggy. Yes, real people take time to find their calling. It is a bad thing narratively in relation to Meggy having a lot of screentime for an ongoing story that doesn't need to be padded this far, while some characters like Tari haven't got major development in years. Also how circular things have gotten. She wants to fight crime? No. She is depressed and gets Sunset Paradise dedicated to herself. After fighting an inner demon, she wants to become a sports teacher and gets College partially about herself. She doesn't want to become a sports teacher and instead fight crime. Like is Sunset Paradise/College just pointless now? I end up thinking Meggy is going to be in multiple serious stories without actual lasting development, at the expense of other characters never getting anything. Padding and false leads will just come off as the writers are desperate to not have Meggy become irrelevant and centre of the verse.

Arcs from best to worst in my opinion: 1-UA-cam arc: Why is it the best for me? Because before this arc, SMG3 was thrown back and this arc made me remember it again. The only bad thing was the new voice that came to Meggy. Because of that voice, I didn't watch anything about Meggy for 1 month. 2-Waluigi Arc: Waluigi's vengeful story was really good in this arc. But it is not suitable for someone who is used to WOFTI. 3-Rapper Bob arc: Nothing special but this arc have many good jokes but still is not the best 4-Revelations Arc: Actually, I don't like the next arcs very much. Because these arcs often caused some of their characters to be forgotten. But I am still neutral towards this arc. 5-Anime Arc: Here, I'm starting to bury it. After a beautiful arc like Waluigi arc, this arc really ruined this great journey. Especially the story wasn't very good for me. But the real blow was Meggy's change. But what did you do to Meggy? D: 6-Genesis Arc: I never felt sorry for the death of a not so important character like Axol or even cared about it. I can put it here as much as the fight scene is beautiful. 7-Lawsuit Arc: God bless this arc! A lot of logic errors, very mundane storyline, Smg4 is officially cast aside, Meggy is not clear, many character traits are ruined, a villain like Lawyer Kong that is not scary at all, unnecessary attention on Mario and Meggy, and most damned, THAT NEW DESIGNS. Bob is not bad but the other character traits are officially trashed. The only good thing is the rap is good
I believe that the arc was a bit weird not because of the rush but because of the previous arc . The cosmology lore was a perfect arc and made the channel deeper and gave us information about the past etc. I believe that there should be more arcs like that ( I really wish that axol would return but it's OK even if it doesn't ) and the channel is capable of doing so
I honestly felt the same way through this arc , but I was happy they did Give meggy more attention and the main focus of the rap. I feel as though Luke and Smg4 were always connected and Due to the Mario in real life video. However it does fell weird that they contradicted Smg4s orgin cause he came from a flashdrive as an avatar. Unless they’re not telling us something. If case what? That Luke and Smg4 are connected? Then if that’s the case there should be an arc around that. And linking the characters back to the real world with them trying to get back to the main world. Like in Mario but in real life. This arc honestly felt like a 7/ 10 at the best for me. I love this series too.
Personally, I hated how much Meggy was used here. Since 2019 Meggy has been used so much by Glitch Productions and given different stories that I just can't enjoy her showing up anymore.
I really didn’t like this arc a whole lot. It was underwhelmed. The Genesis arc was so good but ever since then, there has been nothing better than it. And yeah the redesigns look good but if that is all what they made the arc for and to just turn Meggy into an inkling temporally just to make if Mario was in Splatoon 3 then why bother. The arc was pretty pointless. And while I like how it had the Waluigi arc feel, I still felt like it didn’t improve whatsoever. Almost as if they went back down a step. Maybe even multiple

Something that’s supposed to make you laugh isn’t supposed to have good and in-depth lore, you’re supposed to LAUGH not think about the story because that happens in the background. Personally I thought that arc was really stupid. I believe this whole arc was just a reason to throw in the new character models… BOOPKINS LOOKS HORRIBLE…Bob though looks good. He actually came out quite nicely. SMG4 and SMG3?…yea also no. It just isn’t what SMG4 is. And this whole arc kinda threw away Meggys development. Ever since the new actor for Meggy took over she became less mature. Now she acts out like the others do and feels like she’s reverting back to who she was prior to the anime arc. There’s just a lot of factors that throw away what was built up. I meant we never even see MELONY OR TARI anymore. It’s all MARIO MARIO MARIO. What happened to the show being about EVERYONE? That’s what I miss. Everyone had a role and now they are a one liner side piece. RIP. I’ve kinda started to lose interest in the series. Maybe they will turn it around…. BUT GOSH PLEASE REDO BOOPKINS 😂
I think it would have been more interesthing if they explore how would the original Nintendo charathers react to what they have done in their memy state, and the idea of Smg4 forcing them unwilling, that would have made a more interesthing arc.
That's the problem I have. It is so focused on SMG4, Mario, Meggy and Luigi. We don't see the side characters react to their old lives being a lie and changing in front of them. Both the Nintendos and the third parties.
Honestly to me this wotfi feels it was made as a break to the more recent serious arcs along with the change in character designs and dam the ending rap is so good

Maybe Luke can take control of smg4 if he wants to, in case stuff gets to dumb, and they need a way out. Also if you ignore all the inconsistencies, like I did, it was perfect. And Kaito might not have gotten an arc because of his controversial design, even though people voted on it. Not many people watched the stream.
You really cannot ignore the inconsistencies when so many stuff of previous arcs and now heavily contradicts eachother and makes no literal sense to do so. This heavily plays so with how luke changed smg4’s origin being a guardian and an «avatar», although in the lawsuit arc they treat smg4 and luke as one of the same person which by the way makes no sense if they are contradicting the genesis arc backstory. Meggy’s character is also heavily inconsistent given she was saying she was gonna become a sports teacher and then…nothing really happens or progresses of her character. There is just way too many inconsistencies to the point one cannot ignore it by how much shit they contradict arc after arc and doing WOTFI 3 times in a row now where all three made no literal sense to be WOTFI.
Well in my opinion the lawsuit arc felt really rushed and is definitely my least favorite arc of all. Like I really hoped meggys inkling self being back would have more impact on the story, but it didn’t. Same with the whole everyone dying stuff. It was such a touching moment only for them to casually be brought back in the next episode, it doesn’t really feel like anything special. Also just wanna point out, I think meggy is overused and overrated. I’m sorry but she was just completely ruined after her redesign. She used to be so likeable and fun, but now she’s just insane like every other character and I just hate seeing a character with so much potential go to waste. Also wotfi. It really doesn’t fit with the arcs. I mean I get that making arcs isn’t easy, but it all just feels like a ruined potential for a plot that could have been really interesting. Oh and there’s also the redesigns or whatever…
I actually really enjoyed the lawsuit arc. As someone who didn’t enjoy the dark themes of revelations and genesis this was a breath of fresh air and I personally think that the whole point of the middle episodes like breaking Luigi was to restore the order that lawyer kong destroyed (or re-destroy the order lawyer kong brought back depending how you look at it). I think that the arc was meant to be a light hearted romp to address the fact that Nintendo is the owner of a large part of the cast and give some redesigns to make sure we don’t lose some of the more iconic characters.
One thing I REALLY dont understand is that at the end of the WOTFI when SMG4 and 3 change design, doesnt that go against a MAJOR plot point established in the genesis arc, that SMG4 and 3 are guardians, and they are designed based off of the avatar BECAUSE THEY ARE THERE TO PROTECT, if they change the design then what happens to that bit of lore???

Is sad to me that SMG4 had to do a redesign. Since I have got used to that design ever since 2014. Sighed, is gonna be weird to look at this channel ever again... Also what's the point with last arc now anyway? Does the meme guardian not mean anything anymore? SMG1 and SMG2 didn't even say anything? Have they just been forgotten since that arc? I'm just starting to think is all. As I liked that arc myself. Since I liked the feeling of SMG4 himself to be in danger. But not like this though, I mean in physical. About the Meggy’s collage arc being incomplete, smg4 actually listened to his audience about how they were angry about how the Meggy collage arc didn’t continue, so he made Mario’s Tunnel of Doom. This is not the only example, as in the episode announcement, he listened to criticism and redesigned smg4, smg3, bob and boopkins to look better Wonder why people say smg4 doesn’t listen to critism

I get your point, I never realized that lawsuit arc was kind repetitive of UA-cam/Genesis Arc quite being Similar for Smg4 characters dying and Returning at the same time after begin with I don't understand why Smg4 can't make something to different story better than UA-cam Arc, it's not because it's a good thing, it's because somehow to repetitive but dying and returning doesn't work. The thing that I don’t like about the Lawsuit Arc is that Lawyer Kong has no… villain energy if you know what I mean. He just feels like he was there just because they needed a villain. And the enemy could’ve just been Nintendo. Because (almost) every arc has a villain and they just didn’t know what to make so they just used a Funky Kong model and put a suit over it. They didn’t even give Lawyer Kong a backstory. Because every arc villain has a backstory but they just decided to make Lawyer Kong evil, because he’s evil. He’s like early SMG3. He’s evil just because he wants to be. And they had the audacity to make Lawyer Kong even more of an annoying idiot by dubbing the DK rap over his voice. Honestly, I thought the Lawsuit arc was fine, but, SMG4, next time you make an arc, please make an (at least) enjoyable villain. For example, Waluigi. He was a really funny character and was perfect for SMG4 at the time because all of his videos before that were just random videos he thought were funny. But, after all of that. I still enjoyed the Lawsuit arc. Even though Lawyer Kong was probably the worst villain I’ve ever seen.

i feel like another part of why this arc seems so rushed is probably because wotfi was nearing and maybe they didn't know what to do with it? Maybe they had established kaizos story but realized it wouldn't be long enough for it to end during wotfi 2022 and so had to rush things in a way that wotif itself would not be another "mario and smg4 do random things and then rap" kind of wotfi considering the last ones were all pretty much story/arc driven. Or maybe Kaizos arc WOULD have ended during wotfi but they realized the end wouldn't be a proper wotfi AND arc end, maybe only an arc end? These are only my thoughts tho!
Honestly I'm surprised you didn't talk about your personal thoughts on the redesigns. (Or maybe you did and I just didn't pay attention.) Personally for me I'm in the "middle area" of the new looks of some characters. Lot of people hate them, others love them. I don't really have a problem with them myself It will take some getting used to thats for sure. All of them except Boopkins, dear god he looks horrible. I can defiantly understand peoples outrage over this though. But at the end of the day this is all made for fun. (And to occasionally make you cry. Looking at YOU Meta Runner finale.) After all it's not the end of the world, because at the end of the day it's all just about a bunch of idiots going on adventures.

I have just noticed what your issue is. You think predictability equals bad. It doesn't. Here's an example. In Ace Attorney: Justice For All during the final case, you take the role of Phoenix Wright who is trying to save his best friend from a kidnapper. The game makes you feel worried the whole time but deep down every player knows she will be saved. I still felt scared the whole time I was playing but I knew where the story was going all along. The reason I mentioned this is because you said that it is "impossible" for you to feel sad when you know the outcome. That may be the case for you but many other people can feel sad in predictable moments. When talking about SMG4, you need to keep in mind that this is just some guy who uploads shitposts on the internet. You shouldn't be expecting god tier storytelling from this. WOTFI 2022 was as good as all of the other WOTFIs. I heard you say something that made me think. You said that they "didn't know what to do with Meggy." They do know what they want to do with Meggy. They are making her into a character who they can fit into any important role because she can't settle on a single career. And on a final note, Luke made a huge mistake trying to create such deep lore. You also noticed the contradictions but that is expected of something this large. You cannot possibly expect Luke to be able to keep up with every single bit of lore he has created by himself over the years.
Well Meggy didn't switch back to wanting to be a lawyer. She just temporarily used some of her other skills. Nothing rewritten there. Her true goal has just been put on hold for now
The first plothole I remember with this was the Waluigi Taco stand joke. I was baffled because isn't Taco stand a fan game, not canon and out of character for normal waluigi, who is inside the border? I remember posting this plothole and a lot of people said that I was nitpicking and then giving me their Headcanon. But then each new video contracticted previous and the same arc, damn why Funky Kong died if he's technically an OC, since SMG4 and 3 died having in mind they're mario with other color while he is Funky Kong with another suit?
Opinions on the new designs: - SMG4-needs some fine-tuning to look more polished, but pretty good overall. - SMG3-not bad. Still wish he was german, since that’s how I always read his lines before they gave him a voice, but not bad. - Bob-probably the best redesign. - Boopkins-no. Too blocky.
I like SMG4's new look cause' it gives me Stanley from DK3 vibes. Would've been cool if in the future that if Mario retired from being a mascot and passed the torch to the Bugman, Stanley as the new Nintendo mascot lol.

Very sad to see people on the comments calling you a hater, being major fanboys or missing your points, while i didn't 100% hate the arc (which yes i know you didn't) i do agree with you that it could have been executed better, it had some funny humor and i didn't mind funky kong voice being dk rap but i did feel like some stuff could have got executed better there was a point in one of the arc videos i went "ok this is good and all but for some reason it feel like it's missing something".

Time to criticize this criticism, the lore is pretty well done, and the wotfi had an amazing rap battle, the redesigns were needed in my eyes due to as you said, fear of Nintendo, and Nintendo could come at any moment, I loved this arc as it had a great finish, although you made good points, I think the wotfi's are amazing, the rap battles show climax and with one's in the past it had epic proportions in a big final battle for the arc, while this one didn't have much of a battle per say, the song was amazing and I loved it overall, and the series isn't falling off due to smg4 its UA-cam fault for trying to be kid friendly and penalizing people who do anything adult, also the redesigning was good, your asking smg4 of all things to do all of this is hard to think of, although you made some points your pointing out mainly personal ideas which makes sense but seems like your being harsh and mainly focusing on critism, I respect your opinion and agree with some of the points you made, I'm not trying to sound like a butthurt fan and am sorry if i come off that way. The worse thing about the lawsuit arc is that its contradicting cosmology but I have a theory and that is that there are two different consciences in smg4 one that is the original one (aka the one seen in cosmology) and a conscience that is not Luke but mirrors Luke but its not an exact replica of Luke that's why sometimes smg4 remembers the events that took place in cosmology but also thinks that he was "just a naive stupid little child" because the smg4 conscience that mirrors Luke does not know anything about cosmology. Is this cannon, no will it be cannon, no are there plot holes, probably if someone else makes the research for me I would gladly appreciate it, because I'm not going to because just like Luke I HATE doing research.
I can understand your opinion, lemme tell you my opinion: I think this arc was pretty good, I give it a 8/10. It was pretty fun and I liked how they parodied the Nintendo's Strict Copyright Laws, also they made good chapters like the Splatoon 3 one or Breaking Luigi, these were so fun. I can agree the weakest points by far are the waste of other characters like Bob or Boopkins, they used more Meggy, Mario, Luigi and SMG4 than the others, i'm sad Tari didn't had highlight. The redesigns are good but I feel they could been better after Revelations or Genesis Arcs, Boopkins redesign is godawful, Bob one is p cool. But in the good points, comedy was so fun, I laughed a lot with the Nintendo jokes, Lawyer Kong was a funny villain, not the best one from SMG4, in my opinion Waluigi and SMG3 were better, but the lawyer was fun anyways, and Meggy being lawyer stole the show. I love Meggy, both Inkling and Human form, and seeing her as a lawyer helping Mario and SMG4 in their fight to defend SMG4 property was awesome for me. With the good points and the bad ones, I can say this is a good arc, I want to see what Luke and Kevin going to surprise us next time.

Hey, you didn't remember that she said that she is gonna probably have to get her lawyer brain out. Means kinda become a lawyer kind of. So, Meggy doesn't want to actually become a lawyer. She had to, its not her job, and more.
I liked the arc and also it was a breath of fresh air from the last darker arcs. Now I do prefer the darker arcs because I love that kind of lore (but i dont like it when a characters dies), but they did need a little break. Also I think SMG4 and Luke's channel are half connected in some way and they should honestly make an arc on SMG4 and Luke. Also the rap battle was easily the best of the arc, as most are and I dont mind arc wotfis because they usually have the better rap battles.
I felt the lawsuit arc was made only outta some sort of problem with glitch itself. Trying to distance itself from Nintendo is admittedly a smart move. But I felt they went about it the wrong way. I think it should’ve actually had Mario fail to escape, lawyer kong not realizing the parody contract, and it getting into Bob and boopkins hands. Having 1 to 2 episodes of them trying to escape and confirm they aren’t random enemies from random games. It would’ve given their redesigns much more meaning. Then afterwards have the story remain somewhat the same. However make the final episode not a wotfi. But an actual court battle. Meggy makes many great points about Mario no longer being the one Nintendo shows. Making it under parody law. Afterwards reveal meggy only did that outta necessity by talking to one of her students (another way to add more unique characters btw). I still want the rap battle though, I genuinely love it when arcs end with them. Also Bob is the only redesign I like at the moment. It’s unique enough to stand out while making it look like Bob. Boopkins just looks like a child drew him, and smg3 and smg4 look like regular people.
I don't think you should be taking this so seriously. I think that Smg4 is just trying to make content that is goofy and funny. Other than the more serious arcs, all of his content is like this. I don’t know if Cibles will be seeing this but I know the real reason behind the redesigns, more marketability. He can’t use a Goru (whatever legend of Zelda enemy Bob is) and/or a Spike (fishy boopkins) for marketing unless he has Nintendo’s permission (which will happen when pigs fly) so he redesigned them to allow more characters to market.

My problem with the Lawsuit Arc is that it barely involves any law. I kinda wished the courtroom would be one of the few places in the SMG4 universe that would be taken seriously, since it's literally something that can threaten their entire existence. And seeing Lawyer Kong just smack Meggy during court infront of the judge felt like it was building up to a lawsuit against him. I really hoped that his defeat wouldn't be a rap-battle, but a kind of counter-trial.
The one arc that should’ve had a rap battle that didn’t was the rapper Bob arc, such a missed opportunity

I would honestly describe this arc as messy, yet fun. I loved things of this arc like how they reestablished that brother and sister bond Mario and Meggy have, but it definitely felt rushed multiple times. Though you can't deny that the animation in the rap battle was fire! Also, I loved how they referenced past villains and the rap battle felt like a recap of what the characters went through. Overall, not the best arc, but definitely enjoyable.

I can't believe people actually review smg4 videos so thoroughly like this. I know they have a bit of arcs and lore to his videos and content but to me Smg4 has always been just an awesome guy who makes funny and cool meme videos. Also I hope you guys don't think I'm hating on people for doing this it's more of just surprising

was admittedly on the bandwagon before of "it's gotten pretty sucky" before, but i put my biases aside and took a look at it fairly and i honestly had a pretty fun time with his content
there's some things i don't like, honestly, but if i'm being fair there's still a lot of enjoyment to be had like Mario stuck in the door or when he was exterminating Minions, and there's even some changes that i like like Mario being more compassionate towards everyone
i think it does go to show nostalgia really can cloud judgement, and even if i still do prefer a lot more of the older videos i think saying that the content is awful now compared to before is a flat out wrong statement

I think when smg4 said I was just a stupid little child, I think they were just referring to the first episode that had smg4 in it or the first video of of the smg4 channel entirely. The evidence of it is in the 10-year anniversary special trailer where they explicitly mention the first ever video. That's not only a nice reference for the movie, but is also possible confirmation that my theory is right.
This was the first arc that felt like an actual continuous story since the anime arc. Although it did feel not like a real adventure….
Honesty I feel like one of if not the biggest problems this Arc has is how there's a lot of good ideas but they're normally very rushed. When Meggy becamw an Inkling again it was such a big moment that it looked like it would last until the end of the Arc but instead she changes in the very next episode. Same thing with Mario becoming normal it could've lasted for much longer but he's turned back in the next episode by memes of all things. Plus there's also the Breaking Luigi episode which I think could've lasted for longer as the idea was great especially with Bob and Boopkins working for Luigi but it just ends up not being important by the end of the Arc. This Arc is just wasted potential to me and should've been better then what the end product we ended up getting.
I hope that this Wotfi would be like ace-attorney style: calling witnesses, cross-examination, and using Wotfi chalanges as proves, not just as random jokes.

Lawyer Kong was a good character. I liked when he was on screen, and it felt refreshing having a Mario character as an antagonist again (still hoping for a Bowser arc), but he wasn't a good villain when compared to Zero, SMG3, and even Francis and Waluigi. I feel like this was supposed to be a more laid-back arc after having 2 arcs focusing on Zero in a row, kinda like the Rapper Bob arc since Bob wasn't a particularly good antagonist either
I feel like this arc may be meant as a breather for anyone who only really cares about the arcs, and doesn't watch every upload.

Well, in my opinion, Luke has tried to do more of a comedic arc than a serious arc that is too dependent on the previous stories. Overall, it was interesting for me. The silly stuff and the fun battles with the Nintendo ninjas was a nice way to take a break from the anime stuff or the previous stories. And as for Lawyer Kong or Funky Kong, he plays Nintendo's lawyer in this arc, so he's legally bound to stop Nintendo-related crimes, but many say he doesn't have a particular motivation as a villain, which I think it is wrong. A lawyer has to do the necessary work for his company, but after realizing that Nintendo doesn't value his words, he reverts to his old self. Considering the story that happened and not comparing him to other villains, Lawyer Kong played his part as a good and fun villain in this arc. The problem is that from now on, arcs are always going to be compared to Genesis arc and Revelations, which I don't think is right, anyway, one of the points of this channel is the random adventures of Mario and his friends.

Had me in the beginning and then at the end pulled me out. Ofc thats the point of the channel. Thanks... for telling us that? But really, this felt like a ginormous filler arc. Which I guess is SMG4 every episode, but the difference was there was little consequences and it was overall dumb in a good way. This aint it chief. This shouldve really had about as much relevance as that of the Waluigi arc, and yet it falls more flat than the Rapper Bob arc. Sure, he served his purpose, but at what cost? A predictable arc that had a pretty kindergarten level understandable ending? Nah chief.

If they wanted to do a comedic arc, they shouldn't have forced a dramatic moment where everyone dies. Nor tie it back to the Genesis arc (your most serious arc).
If it was for pure comedy, then the outcome wouldn't have been that major, even though the redesigns were useless to me.

Only thing I hated about that arc was Desti's death, which just made no sense with everything that wss established up to that point. Up to then, dying was just a minor inconvenience they could bounce back from next scene. And Desti actually dying just... didnt make sense. At all. Sure some people justify it as not being close to Mario as the others but like... that doesnt matter, this breaks the conventional rule of SMG4: Dying is but a mere inconvenience that should not hinder your progression into the next scene.
This was a major juxtaposition of that rule. And honestly kinda marked the beginning of the end of the mostly fun and interesting episodes. In a way, SMG4 kinda died with Desti. The numbers wont say it but it definately did tbh. I miss the old stuff man.
@@kyperactive yeah desti's death spawned probably the worst trend in smg4 arcs about having to kill characters to do an impact, even tho most of the time that impact falss incredibly short (atleast imo, a lot of the fandom is really sensible to deaths as i've seen people get REALLY affected by it).
ALSO another really big flaw about desti's death is just how much it affected meggy, like it really came out of nowhere, desti was a pain in the back for meggy's team, not only wanting to steal mario off her team and straight up cheating by stealing their weapons, literally 2 videos before her death they were enemies to death and just suddenly meggy cares so much about her death to have 7 breakdowns in the span of a week

Here's my honest opinion on the lawsuit arc.
Yes, it's just repeating the UA-cam arc so it was impossible to feel sad because we knew what was gonna happen. The beginning was perfect as you said but the way they executed the story was rushed. I get lawyer Kong was made as a joke but that is why he's not a threatful villain.
Too many SMG4 fans actually thought Nintendo signed a DMCA at SMG4 and if that was the case they would've already done it so Nintendo clearly doesn't care yet.
If Mario was in splatoon 3 didn't give me any connections to splatoon 3 because the game just came out and there's no Gmod models that they could work with. (But you gotta admit putting TF2 eyes on a manta ray for Big man was funny) but I don't see how that whole video was supposed to be splatoon 3.
Breaking Luigi was just SMG4 turning Luigi into Walter White. I laughed at the video but knowing it was just to keep the Lawsuit arc going just killed it.
Then after that was just the UA-cam arc being repeated with all characters dying and coming back to life with a WOTFI for which I was kinda wishing for a normal WOTFI this year.
And yes. You did point out SMG4 broke so much lore of what was said in the past. I don't want to see this story take a huge downfall but unfortunately it's going down that path.
Last of all: The redesigns just felt pointless because all the characters that did nothing this arc got it. All the long time fans are just going to hate SMG4 for doing that. The time was right for Meggy when that whole thing happened to her in the Anime arc as you stated but ya.

Great review! I completely understand why you didn't care for this arc, personally I like it! Is it predictable? Yes. Is it a simplistic story vs the Genesis or Revelations arcs? Yes. I'm just glad nobody died at the end! Also, around May when I started binging SMG4 episodes that I missed out on, I was concerned if SMG4 would actually get sued, and that made me realize "Hay, they could make a story about it", and sure enough, here we are!
I liked The Lawsuit Arc, but even I'll admit it felt rushed. In fact, I feel like a lot of season 12 has been rushed. The Kaizo story was so short, both arcs have only been the minimum amount of episodes allowed for an arc, Clown Fever had a lame ending, a lot of episodes are less than 10 minutes, and it seems like they just completely forgot about the Games Be Like... series. However, I will say the WOTFI rap was awesome in my opinion and it's impressive how they managed to make Lawyer Kong sound good in it.
There are also the Mario Does Things videos which they keep reusing the same ideas for. Mario Tries Life Hacks 2, Mario Reacts To Funny Tik Toks 2, Mario Reacts To Nintendo Memes 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11! Why can't Mario do stuff like speedrun Super Mario 64 or react to weird Nintendo commercials anymore?

Season 12 is the season of SMG4 we're in right now, it began with Mario Waits For The Bus.
tbh i wonder if after the first couple kaizo arc episodes they got reminded that nintendo exists and could easily destroy them at any moment, and were like "AH! we need to deal with that!", thus leading to the lawsuit arc, and kaizo's arc getting rushed as collateral damage of a complete 180. But because some of the resources normally used for making one arc had already been used on the kaizo arc, that caused the lawsuit arc to become lower quality as a result. and tbh, the lawsuit arc would have worked better if it was allowed more time to progress in a more intricate manner, and then ended not in a wotfi but in a court-themed smg4 movie type gig. heck, they could have decided to experiment with doing the kaizo arc as a simultaneous but seperate arc that could have then also interacted with the lawsuit arc as well in some way. i'm not sure how wotfi 2022 would fit in with all this, but maybe that would simply have been a standalone gig started by mario calling one of smg4's memes cringe or something idk lol

Funky Kong also has probably one of the worst motives in comparison to others: Waluigi wanted to make everyone suffer because of being rejected, SMG3 wanted SMG4's channel, Francis wanted an anime island, and Zero his own universe back. Lawyer Kong was just... Mario doesn't want to work with Nintendo, so he gets mad and wants to get rid of everyone. That's it. With Waluigi at least he was doing things for himself, but with Lawyer Kong he was doing something for someone who didn't even have an issue at the start
a great motivation for him would be him wanting to get rid of the memes that "infected" the world, it would be understandable, and would make us question the impact the memes had in the SMG4 world, he could have a backstory where the memes somehow affected his life in a bad way, making him determined to end SMG4 and the memes that came with him, that would be the PERFECT reason, but they unfortunatly missed this great opportunity

I also agree with you about Wotfi. the repetition and predictability we saw this year took away from the celebratory nature of Wotfi. when we got to the song battle, (doesn't really feel much like a rap anymore, but I get why.) Last year, they killed off Axol. that was a huge* surprise given the fact that Axol was a major character, and not a supporting role. in addition, they let Melony grow as a character in Wotfi 2021's aftermath. this year, they threatened to remove all Nintendo characters, and kill off everyone else. What reason did we have to believe that they would go through with that?

Anyone else feel that because of the origin in smg4 revelations where it's revealed Smg4 is the reason everyone acts so dangerously stupid kinda makes it hard to root for him, like at that point he's practically the Villian.
5:28 - 6:31 that all is explained in the recent episode "Mario's Tunnel of Doom" they even acknowledged that people probably didn't remember. seems like they may watch your videos and take that into consideration
I like this arc, but I would've personally changed it so that it ties in with the aftermath of "If Mario was the last man on earth."
Remember how his friends just abandoned him just for some stupid pizza competition? Then when he ruined it, WHICH WAS JUSTIFIED, they all beat him up? That doesn't sound like something friends would do to one of their own! Then I remembered, this wasn't the first time Mario's "friends" have treated him like shit (cause trust me, there were other times). So I really wanted this new arc to finally be Mario's breaking point. In fact, here's a little summary of what I had in mind.
So things would start off after the pizza incident. Everyone realizes they may have been a bit too harsh on Mario, so they each try to apologize individually, but Mario avoids them, saying that's all in the past and he's perfectly fine. Though deep down, he's in a state of grief, negative thoughts and emotions flowing through his head. The embodiment of his emotions takes the form of a evil version of himself, we'll call him Mr. M. Now Mr. M is constantly urging Mario to stop being a weakling and leave everything behind. Eventually, Mario gives in, and this leads to a huge emotional argument scene, where Mario decides he's had enough of his friends and declares that he's leaving.
Some time after he leaves the Mushroom Kingdom behind, Smg4 and the gang finally come to grips with the fact that they've been horrible friends, so they decide to go out and find him. While that's going on, Mario becomes a depressed hobo, until he meets a new group of friends who actually respect who he is, his attitude also changes and by the time the gang finds him, he is a completely different person. More drama occurs and Mario dissapears again, and we have this scene with Mr. M finally getting into Mario's head, and he turns to the dark side (kinda like Waluigi in his story arc). Mario decides to use his Avatar powers to create a new universe, one free of Smg4, Meggy, and everyone else that wasn't in his life before. Essentially, he wants to create a world before Smg4 came along. Back when things made sense.
I'm not really sure what happens next, other than Mario facing off against his friends. During the fight, Mario comes to his senses, but Mr. M fights for control. Eventually, the two split from each other, which leads to another epic battle between Mario and Mr. M. Of course things go well, and everything is resolved. The end
Im gonna make this comment as I go through the video. I wanna make it clear I have been a fan of smg4 since late 2013 and still continue to love this series. I personally love his new arc formats and adding lore, character development, emotions, etc. to his unique world.
With that out of the way lets go into it. So far im 2 minutes in and im glad you highlight some of the good stuff it did. I think in terms of concept this arc was the best, because it takes a scenario that could happen to Smg4. Now you mention how more videos in between the previous 2 arc and to that I do agree, I wish smg4 did a better job at making these arcs stand out. He did it well once when we did the anime arc and than the youtube arc but ever since then its been fine to meh.
Now in terms of missed potential, I cant say I agree. What missed potential is there? You never give any example of what could have made the story flow better.
A 4 episode arc? God no, why? I think the problem for me is when the episodes arent long enough. If the arcs were consistently 17 - 26 minutes long with 5 - 8 episodes each I see that as an amazing amount. Every show has filler, you kinda need filler to make the major plots stand out more. I completely agree the start of the Arc could have been better, but the entire execution of this arc I think was very well done. You than mention how nothing changes really from start to end of the arc. Um, what? Did a lot change no, but what was gonna change to make it seem like a lot? Because the way I see it having all nintendo characters revert back to "normal", non nintendo IP characters getting deleted, Smg4s channel being temporarily deleted, the redesigns of Smg4 smg3 bob and boopkins, and an arc where Violence isnt the solution at all? I think those are some pretty big changes personally. I will say that those changes should have lasted longer to hold more of an impact. For example they completely rushed mario reverting to his nintendo self and then back to normal.
Ill have to check out your wotfi video so I wont talk about that. However what I will say is I dont mind the wotfis being in the arcs, I remember back in 2019 I believe when they went back to the OG wotfis and it just wasnt good, it was bland and boring to me. Besides its War Of The Fat Italians, sure it started off as smg4 vs mario but them being on the same team makes the title still work.
As for what you say for the redesigns, I do agree that the process should have been longer but doesnt that contradict what you said about the arc should only be 4 episodes? I understand you said because of filler it could have been that short if you took it out but again all shows have and need filler. I dont think the arc was to just change the designs, I think its smg4 wanting his characters to hold their own and be unique aside from the MAJOR ones like Mario, Peach, Bowser, etc. I see nothing wrong with them at all. I can understand if someone wouldnt like the bob and boopkins ones but the smg4 and smg3 ones makes perfect sense to me. I do completely agree however how they should have implemented the characters that got redesigns way more into this arc, but at the same time it makes sense that it would focus on Mario, Smg4, and Luigi just as much as the others. Listen I adore meggy but she definitely didnt need as much screen time aside from her being the lawyer so Ill give you her at least.
I really dont understand this rant on Meggy though. People change, a lot. And in smg4s world where anything can happen I dont see why this is such a big deal. Can it be viewed as a flaw in her character? Sure, but why is that a bad thing? It shows that shes not perfect and is still finding her way through life and what she is passionate about.
I dont see why you say smg4 and luke are not connected when in genesis arc its luke plugging in the usb seemingly to his computer to create the world of smg4. Smg4 the character doesnt know his origins aside from that so when you mention the point of him saying a childhood I agree that, that is a clear contradictory. At the end of the day theres a lot of contradictory throughout the entire universe of smg4 and smg4 is supposed to be luke inside the world of nintendo/mario/internet, etc. I just dont see it as that major of an issue personally. And then your comparison of the youtube arc and lawyer arc is wrong. The characters didnt die in the youtube arc, they were all just sent to the internet graveyard. Where as in the lawyer arc they quite literally died.
And wow that to me is a surprising take on Lawyer Kong, I thought so far he was the best antagonist so far in the series. He is smart with what hes doing, he is actually threatening in a different way than the genesis arc, he is a competent villain. In my eyes that was the problem with antagonists such as waluigi and smg3 where it was all just power that seemingly fell into their hands instead of being competent at all. They were never scary to me for the series. I will agree though that the entire kaiso and lawyer arc should have not been rushed in anyway. I dont know why they would feel the need to rush anything in the first place honestly.
Im glad youre here giving actually competent criticism for the most part because not a lot of fans do that for smg4s universe, but at the same time when giving constructive criticism you have to provide your own examples on how it could have been improved. I could name a lot of things I would do differently whether based on my own taste of what I love about the show or based on something I didnt like as much. I personally loved the arc still and I view it as the 3rd best arc weve had behind the waluigi arc and Genesis/revelations

Yes SMG4 has filler, but that is the rest of the 50 videos they make a year. Thus the arcs standout for an attempt to have longer narratives. So arcs feeling slowpaced or an arc episode that has very little meat to offer is what bothers us. You can't just tune in without a little context, but you only come out with little to gain.

Rapper Bob did the last thing already. The deleted stuff were reversed so everything is going back to normal like the UA-cam arc or Zero's damage. The status quo. I think a lasting effect is what he is talking about.
You don't have to like WOFI 2019, but a lot would prefer these arcs to end naturally and not predictably, especially when higher stakes are involved. More of an adventure like the movies and Final Hours and less 15 minute filler collabs+rap battles.
Holding their own huh? If SMG4 wanted his characters to hold their own, then he failed with how 4 is the only redesigned/original character to do something of value. There had to be some balance with how this arc involved multiple factions, but the character scope was just small with only the Main 4 who didn't need this much focus aagain. A few problems I have with this arc is just all the side characters don't have much say in the events until the end for challenge filler. Like with SMG4 being why the universe and its residents are messed up, it would effectively mean their memories are effectively a lie? Does anyone react? No. Does anyone actually want to resist or accept Lawyer Kong's rule? Does anyone care that their lives may permanently change forever? No. Considering that the OCs who would get mass killed off are the ones that have little say in the arc, the serious aspect of this arc falls flat.
In regards to Meggy. Yes, real people take time to find their calling. It is a bad thing narratively in relation to Meggy having a lot of screentime for an ongoing story that doesn't need to be padded this far, while some characters like Tari haven't got major development in years. Also how circular things have gotten. She wants to fight crime? No. She is depressed and gets Sunset Paradise dedicated to herself. After fighting an inner demon, she wants to become a sports teacher and gets College partially about herself. She doesn't want to become a sports teacher and instead fight crime. Like is Sunset Paradise/College just pointless now? I end up thinking Meggy is going to be in multiple serious stories without actual lasting development, at the expense of other characters never getting anything. Padding and false leads will just come off as the writers are desperate to not have Meggy become irrelevant and centre of the verse.

Arcs from best to worst in my opinion: 1-UA-cam arc: Why is it the best for me? Because before this arc, SMG3 was thrown back and this arc made me remember it again. The only bad thing was the new voice that came to Meggy. Because of that voice, I didn't watch anything about Meggy for 1 month. 2-Waluigi Arc: Waluigi's vengeful story was really good in this arc. But it is not suitable for someone who is used to WOFTI. 3-Rapper Bob arc: Nothing special but this arc have many good jokes but still is not the best 4-Revelations Arc: Actually, I don't like the next arcs very much. Because these arcs often caused some of their characters to be forgotten. But I am still neutral towards this arc. 5-Anime Arc: Here, I'm starting to bury it. After a beautiful arc like Waluigi arc, this arc really ruined this great journey. Especially the story wasn't very good for me. But the real blow was Meggy's change. But what did you do to Meggy? D: 6-Genesis Arc: I never felt sorry for the death of a not so important character like Axol or even cared about it. I can put it here as much as the fight scene is beautiful. 7-Lawsuit Arc: God bless this arc! A lot of logic errors, very mundane storyline, Smg4 is officially cast aside, Meggy is not clear, many character traits are ruined, a villain like Lawyer Kong that is not scary at all, unnecessary attention on Mario and Meggy, and most damned, THAT NEW DESIGNS. I honestly felt the same way through this arc , but I was happy they did Give meggy more attention and the main focus of the rap. I feel as though Luke and Smg4 were always connected and Due to the Mario in real life video. However it does fell weird that they contradicted Smg4s orgin cause he came from a flashdrive as an avatar. Unless they’re not telling us something. If case what? That Luke and Smg4 are connected? Then if that’s the case there should be an arc around that. And linking the characters back to the real world with them trying to get back to the main world. Like in Mario but in real life. This arc honestly felt like a 7/ 10 at the best for me. I love this series too.

I really didn’t like this arc a whole lot. It was underwhelmed. The Genesis arc was so good but ever since then, there has been nothing better than it. And yeah the redesigns look good but if that is all what they made the arc for and to just turn Meggy into an inkling temporally just to make if Mario was in Splatoon 3 then why bother. The arc was pretty pointless. And while I like how it had the Waluigi arc feel, I still felt like it didn’t improve whatsoever. Almost as if they went back down a step. Maybe even multiple

I think it would have been more interesthing if they explore how would the original Nintendo charathers react to what they have done in their memy state, and the idea of Smg4 forcing them unwilling, that would have made a more interesthing arc.
That's the problem I have. It is so focused on SMG4, Mario, Meggy and Luigi. We don't see the side characters react to their old lives being a lie and changing in front of them. Both the Nintendos and the third parties.
Honestly to me this wotfi feels it was made as a break to the more recent serious arcs along with the change in character designs and dam the ending rap is so good

Maybe Luke can take control of smg4 if he wants to, in case stuff gets to dumb, and they need a way out. Also if you ignore all the inconsistencies, like I did, it was perfect. And Kaito might not have gotten an arc because of his controversial design, even though people voted on it. Not many people watched the stream.
You really cannot ignore the inconsistencies when so many stuff of previous arcs and now heavily contradicts eachother and makes no literal sense to do so. This heavily plays so with how luke changed smg4’s origin being a guardian and an «avatar», although in the lawsuit arc they treat smg4 and luke as one of the same person which by the way makes no sense if they are contradicting the genesis arc backstory. Meggy’s character is also heavily inconsistent given she was saying she was gonna become a sports teacher and then…nothing really happens or progresses of her character.
There is just way too many inconsistencies to the point one cannot ignore it by how much shit they contradict arc after arc and doing WOTFI 3 times in a row now where all three made no literal sense to be WOTFI.
Well in my opinion the lawsuit arc felt really rushed and is definitely my least favorite arc of all. Like I really hoped meggys inkling self being back would have more impact on the story, but it didn’t. Same with the whole everyone dying stuff. It was such a touching moment only for them to casually be brought back in the next episode, it doesn’t really feel like anything special. Also just wanna point out, I think meggy is overused and overrated. I’m sorry but she was just completely ruined after her redesign. She used to be so likeable and fun, but now she’s just insane like every other character and I just hate seeing a character with so much potential go to waste. Also wotfi. It really doesn’t fit with the arcs. I mean I get that making arcs isn’t easy, but it all just feels like a ruined potential for a plot that could have been really interesting. Oh and there’s also the redesigns or whatever…
I actually really enjoyed the lawsuit arc. As someone who didn’t enjoy the dark themes of revelations and genesis this was a breath of fresh air and I personally think that the whole point of the middle episodes like breaking Luigi was to restore the order that lawyer kong destroyed (or re-destroy the order lawyer kong brought back depending how you look at it). I think that the arc was meant to be a light hearted romp to address the fact that Nintendo is the owner of a large part of the cast and give some redesigns to make sure we don’t lose some of the more iconic characters.
One thing I REALLY dont understand is that at the end of the WOTFI when SMG4 and 3 change design, doesnt that go against a MAJOR plot point established in the genesis arc, that SMG4 and 3 are guardians, and they are designed based off of the avatar BECAUSE THEY ARE THERE TO PROTECT, if they change the design then what happens to that bit of lore???

About the Meggy’s collage arc being incomplete, smg4 actually listened to his audience about how they were angry about how the Meggy collage arc didn’t continue, so he made Mario’s Tunnel of Doom. This is not the only example, as in the episode announcement, he listened to criticism and redesigned smg4, smg3, bob and boopkins to look better

The thing that I don’t like about the Lawsuit Arc is that Lawyer Kong has no… villain energy if you know what I mean. He just feels like he was there just because they needed a villain. And the enemy could’ve just been Nintendo. Because (almost) every arc has a villain and they just didn’t know what to make so they just used a Funky Kong model and put a suit over it. They didn’t even give Lawyer Kong a backstory. Because every arc villain has a backstory but they just decided to make Lawyer Kong evil, because he’s evil. He’s like early SMG3. He’s evil just because he wants to be. And they had the audacity to make Lawyer Kong even more of an annoying idiot by dubbing the DK rap over his voice. Honestly, I thought the Lawsuit arc was fine, but, SMG4, next time you make an arc, please make an (at least) enjoyable villain. For example, Waluigi. He was a really funny character and was perfect for SMG4 at the time because all of his videos before that were just random videos he thought were funny. But, after all of that. I still enjoyed the Lawsuit arc. Even though Lawyer Kong was probably the worst villain I’ve ever seen.

i feel like another part of why this arc seems so rushed is probably because wotfi was nearing and maybe they didn't know what to do with it? Maybe they had established kaizos story but realized it wouldn't be long enough for it to end during wotfi 2022 and so had to rush things in a way that wotif itself would not be another "mario and smg4 do random things and then rap" kind of wotfi considering the last ones were all pretty much story/arc driven. Or maybe Kaizos arc WOULD have ended during wotfi but they realized the end wouldn't be a proper wotfi AND arc end, maybe only an arc end? These are only my thoughts tho!

Honestly I'm surprised you didn't talk about your personal thoughts on the redesigns. (Or maybe you did and I just didn't pay attention.) Personally for me I'm in the "middle area" of the new looks of some characters. Lot of people hate them, others love them. I don't really have a problem with them myself It will take some getting used to thats for sure. All of them except Boopkins, dear god he looks horrible. I can defiantly understand peoples outrage over this though. But at the end of the day this is all made for fun. (And to occasionally make you cry. Looking at YOU Meta Runner finale.) After all it's not the end of the world, because at the end of the day it's all just about a bunch of idiots going on adventures.

I have just noticed what your issue is. You think predictability equals bad. It doesn't. Here's an example. In Ace Attorney: Justice For All during the final case, you take the role of Phoenix Wright who is trying to save his best friend from a kidnapper. The game makes you feel worried the whole time but deep down every player knows she will be saved. I still felt scared the whole time I was playing but I knew where the story was going all along. The reason I mentioned this is because you said that it is "impossible" for you to feel sad when you know the outcome. That may be the case for you but many other people can feel sad in predictable moments. When talking about SMG4, you need to keep in mind that this is just some guy who uploads shitposts on the internet. You shouldn't be expecting god tier storytelling from this. WOTFI 2022 was as good as all of the other WOTFIs. I heard you say something that made me think. You said that they "didn't know what to do with Meggy." They do know what they want to do with Meggy. They are making her into a character who they can fit into any important role because she can't settle on a single career. And on a final note, Luke made a huge mistake trying to create such deep lore. You also noticed the contradictions but that is expected of something this large. You cannot possibly expect Luke to be able to keep up with every single bit of lore he has created by himself over the years.

The first plothole I remember with this was the Waluigi Taco stand joke. I was baffled because isn't Taco stand a fan game, not canon and out of character for normal waluigi, who is inside the border? I remember posting this plothole and a lot of people said that I was nitpicking and then giving me their Headcanon. But then each new video contracticted previous and the same arc, damn why Funky Kong died if he's technically an OC, since SMG4 and 3 died having in mind they're mario with other color while he is Funky Kong with another suit?
Opinions on the new designs:
- SMG4-needs some fine-tuning to look more polished, but pretty good overall.
- SMG3-not bad. Still wish he was german, since that’s how I always read his lines before they gave him a voice, but not bad.
- Bob-probably the best redesign.
- Boopkins-no. Too blocky.
I like SMG4's new look cause' it gives me Stanley from DK3 vibes.
Would've been cool if in the future that if Mario retired from being a mascot and passed the torch to the Bugman, Stanley as the new Nintendo mascot lol.

Even than I feel like saiko got redesigned for the sake of it kaizo not being the villain is just a missed oppertunity and is came like out of nowhere not like the one of the lawsuit arc but still and also they do nothing with kaizo afterward just shove him aside like post revelations melony

@@GamerKid64 the main issue for me isn't the redesign is the writing of episodes after the genesis arc when the trying to hard to blend the gags with serious story and is don't do well
Very sad to see people on the comments calling you a hater, being major fanboys or missing your points, while i didn't 100% hate the arc (which yes i know you didn't) i do agree with you that it could have been executed better, it had some funny humor and i didn't mind funky kong voice being dk rap but i did feel like some stuff could have got executed better there was a point in one of the arc videos i went "ok this is good and all but for some reason it feel like it's missing something".
@@monster-mecha_enthusiast_2002 I like the new videos as much as i like the old videos, while there is some stuff i'm still not 100% fan of (like human meggy) i still enjoy the new videos a lot, but i can't deny even when compared to other newer videos this arc failed in execution it had some good moments from time to time but i would still put it low on the arcs tier list.

I am someone who can enjoy episodic comedies to dramas. And thought this arc didn't deliver enough on either end.

The arc wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t so forced.
Like you said, if they were really in hot water with Nintendo, they would’ve done the redesigns quicker and more efficiently.

Time to criticize this criticism, the lore is pretty well done, and the wotfi had an amazing rap battle, the redesigns were needed in my eyes due to as you said, fear of Nintendo, and Nintendo could come at any moment, I loved this arc as it had a great finish, although you made good points, I think the wotfi's are amazing, the rap battles show climax and with one's in the past it had epic proportions in a big final battle for the arc, while this one didn't have much of a battle per say, the song was amazing and I loved it overall, and the series isn't falling off due to smg4 its UA-cam fault for trying to be kid friendly and penalizing people who do anything adult, also the redesigning was good, your asking smg4 of all things to do all of this is hard to think of, although you made some points your pointing out mainly personal ideas which makes sense but seems like your being harsh and mainly focusing on critism, I respect your opinion and agree with some of the points you made, I'm not trying to sound like a butthurt fan and am sorry if i come off that way. @@monster-mecha_enthusiast_2002 Criticism is not hating, people criticize stuff because they love it and want to see it improve, the author of the video never said he hated the entire arc and that it should be destroyed in fact if you watched the video with actual calm and not being a major fanboy, you would have noticed they stated the idea for the arc was pretty good, just that it felt rushed and some stuff on it could have improved like making the redesigns feel more natural like making boopkins or bob have major roles in the arc, or giving more motivations to funky kong as a villain, just because you don't own the studio of a movie don't mean you can't say "i wish x scene of the movie was better" just because you don't own the studio of game you play don't mean you can't "i wish x boss of this game was better balanced" everyone is free to express their opinions and judgement on stuff and the easier you learn that, better it will be for your life.

When you grow up an enjoyer of SMG4 who equally likes both the Old and New content, nobody respects your opinions since all they say "your opinion is hard for me to take serious" because constructive criticisms are a constant reminder that out there I'm just a disgrace to the SMG4 community for liking the new SMG4 era and it's characters.
But that wouldn't be nothing compared to having the one OG fanbase, That ONE OG fanbase I thought I could trust, stabbed me in the back for it lol.
The worse thing about the lawsuit arc is that its contradicting cosmology but I have a theory and that is that there are two different consciences in smg4 one that is the original one (aka the one seen in cosmology) and a conscience that is not Luke but mirrors Luke but its not an exact replica of Luke that's why sometimes smg4 remembers the events that took place in cosmology but also thinks that he was "just a naive stupid little child" because the smg4 conscience that mirrors Luke does not know anything about cosmology. Is this cannon, no will it be cannon, no are there plot holes, probably if someone else makes the research for me I would gladly appreciate it, because I'm not going to because just like Luke I HATE doing research.

I think this arc was pretty good, I give it a 8/10.
It was pretty fun and I liked how they parodied the Nintendo's Strict Copyright Laws, also they made good chapters like the Splatoon 3 one or Breaking Luigi, these were so fun.
I can agree the weakest points by far are the waste of other characters like Bob or Boopkins, they used more Meggy, Mario, Luigi and SMG4 than the others, i'm sad Tari didn't had highlight. The redesigns are good but I feel they could been better after Revelations or Genesis Arcs, Boopkins redesign is godawful, Bob one is p cool.
But in the good points, comedy was so fun, I laughed a lot with the Nintendo jokes, Lawyer Kong was a funny villain, not the best one from SMG4, in my opinion Waluigi and SMG3 were better, but the lawyer was fun anyways, and Meggy being lawyer stole the show.
I love Meggy, both Inkling and Human form, and seeing her as a lawyer helping Mario and SMG4 in their fight to defend SMG4 property was awesome for me.
With the good points and the bad ones, I can say this is a good arc, I want to see what Luke and Kevin going to surprise us next time.
2021 was better made on purpose, its the genesis arc for god's sake! 2022 is fine in my opinion, besides smg4 turning into stanley and smg3 being asian, its just...good
Hey, you didn't remember that she said that she is gonna probably have to get her lawyer brain out. Means kinda become a lawyer kind of. So, Meggy doesn't want to actually become a lawyer. She had to, its not her job, and more.
I liked the arc and also it was a breath of fresh air from the last darker arcs. Now I do prefer the darker arcs because I love that kind of lore (but i dont like it when a characters dies), but they did need a little break. Also I think SMG4 and Luke's channel are half connected in some way and they should honestly make an arc on SMG4 and Luke. Also the rap battle was easily the best of the arc, as most are and I dont mind arc wotfis because they usually have the better rap battles.
I felt the lawsuit arc was made only outta some sort of problem with glitch itself. Trying to distance itself from Nintendo is admittedly a smart move. But I felt they went about it the wrong way. I think it should’ve actually had Mario fail to escape, lawyer kong not realizing the parody contract, and it getting into Bob and boopkins hands. Having 1 to 2 episodes of them trying to escape and confirm they aren’t random enemies from random games. It would’ve given their redesigns much more meaning. Then afterwards have the story remain somewhat the same. However make the final episode not a wotfi. But an actual court battle. Meggy makes many great points about Mario no longer being the one Nintendo shows. Making it under parody law. Afterwards reveal meggy only did that outta necessity by talking to one of her students (another way to add more unique characters btw). I still want the rap battle though, I genuinely love it when arcs end with them.
Also Bob is the only redesign I like at the moment. It’s unique enough to stand out while making it look like Bob. Boopkins just looks like a child drew him, and smg3 and smg4 look like regular people.
I don't think you should be taking this so seriously. I think that Smg4 is just trying to make content that is goofy and funny. Other than the more serious arcs, all of his content is like this. Consistent lore has never been a strong suit of the series believe me, but I think that is what gives the series it's charm. It's just my thoughts but what do I know?

I don’t know if Cibles will be seeing this but I know the real reason behind the redesigns, more marketability.
He can’t use a Goru (whatever legend of Zelda enemy Bob is) and/or a Spike (fishy boopkins) for marketing unless he has Nintendo’s permission (which will happen when pigs fly) so he redesigned them to allow more characters to market.
But he could've done what SML did where they still keep the original designs while using the human puppets for the marketing(Before the c&d).
