Mt Apo is the highest mountain in the Philippines. There is still a bit of volcanic activity mainly in the form of sulfur vents which create natural hot water springs. Mt Apo National Park is a fantastic place to do some mountaineering!!
Many tourists are afraid of Mindanao due to the horror stories about Abu Sayyaf. The U.S. military label them as "terrorists" but locals of Mindanao refer to Abu Sayyaf as "the rebels." Getting to Kidapawan from Davao airport, you will need to take either a private van (roughly 3500 pesos for the whole van) or a public bus (roughly 200 pesos per person) if you take public buses around Mindanao as we did, I recommend wearing a face covering by using an old T-Shirt. At the beginning of this vid you see me wearing an old T-shirt as face covering, I am on a public bus. If you wear full length pants, long sleeves and the face covering, 99% of people you pass will not know that you are white.
