Super Bomberman R 2 Review - A Short Fuse for a Short Lived Experience

Super Bomberman R 2 doesn't do much to differentiate itself from its predecessor or the series. There's just nothing really here to justify a purchase with a campaign consisting of only three unimaginative levels, very limited power-ups, and a strange implication of online modes. The charm is still present when playing classic modes, but nothing that has been added moves the series in any significant direction.

Solid review, I wouldn't really say the series was specifically aimed at children so much as prior to the Super Bomberman R games it felt like it was for anyone, these characterizations and cutscenes on top of the puyo esque presentation definitely feel like they alienate an older demographic in a way that older entries didn't.
I love Bomberman and genuinely want the best for it, if there was any IP from my childhood I'd love to get a chance to work on it'd be Bomberman, above all else, but I could not justify this game for $50 over 80% of it is reused content from Super Bomberman R and Super Bomberman R Online and what's new isn't even very much worth your time, really wish they'd just sit down with the IP let it rest a bit and put their best foot forward rather than these releases that seem perfectly content with being lazy, mediocre or both.

About to return my Switch version of the game. 35fps is unacceptable for a bomberman game, especially at $50

They should go back to Bomberman N64, the bomb bouncing mechanic and carrying bombs while spamming B to make a bigger bomb also a heart piece that protects you from one hit only
