Brown to Blue Hair with Overtone

- It’s that time of the year again. what better time to do it than coronavirus "quarantine" - and I mean that as slang for the stay-at-home order in New Hampshire. I'm fortunately not actually in quarantine!
This is my third time colouring my hair blue on youtube. maybe I'll just keep recording forever
Some info:
This is my third time dyeing my hair blue. The first time (2 years ago), I used Manic Panic, which is why the ends of my hair are green when I bleach it. The second time (almost a year ago), I used Overtone Extreme Blue, and the blue faded out pretty nicely. The entire process took just 2 hours today: 30 min for applying bleach, 20 min waiting for bleach to process, 10 mins washing out bleach, 10 mins applying overtone, 15 mins leaving it in, 5 mins washing it out, and 30 mins dryin' and stylin'
I would have tried the Blue for Brown if it weren't sold out, but I also think the Extreme Blue looks pretty good on dark hair. I procrastinated buying more because I felt really guilty ordering stuff from the pandemic, but I broke that pact buying notebooks from Cognitive Surplus to support them and thought: well, maybe I could justify it as supporting businesses.... and also I feel better about myself & more productive when I am content with my appearance and wellness... so maybe it cancels out the shipping? Or perhaps I'm still a bad person for online shopping when I don't need the things I get for projects like this one, but, then again, I wouldn't judge friends who order things so why do I feel so bad about it myself?!?!?! if you've read this far, I am sorry

Thank you!! It stayed like this for 3 washes (1.5 weeks) and faded a bit. It takes a few weeks for it to fade to a greyish blue

Ya! I've used bleach before on my ends, and every two months or so I'll lighten my hair with a lightening box dye or bleach+developer. Any powder bleach and developer works for me (I usually use 20-30 volume developer). I then go straight into overtone blue conditioners. I don't tone my hair bc the blue is so vibrant that it cancels out all my orange tones anyway. Hope this helps!
your vid is so helpful, but im still slightly confused. Did you acc just use the bleach from loreal, and then applied the blue overtone? like is that actually it ? my hair are also like yours but ive never dyed them etc so will i get different results? does the bleach has a Vol? or is it like a universal thing. you just buy and use it?
Hi!!! I did just use the Loreal box dye to lighten my hair, but it would have been better to use bleach with 20 volume or something. I was just too lazy to buy the whole kit :{P if you have virgin hair (hair that hasn't been dyed before), you probably need to lighten it a few times (with bleach+developer preferably over a bunch of box dyes) to get it to light enough color for the blue to pop out

I used the same colorista bleach but my hair turned out very orange (I have dark asian hair). Do you think it’ll come out as greenish if I use this blue dye?
Tone your hair before you dye it to get rid of the orange

@@theia1107 Lol I ended up bleaching 2x with colorista, realized it was damaging my hair too much, bought Schwarzkopf professional bleach and dyed it with arctic fox
I think it would've been fine to put blue on top cos it would cancel out the orange anyway
would you suggest using the extreme blue or the blue for brown hair?

How is your hair so healthy for 3x of dying it?
The overtone hair dye is a conditioner with coloring in it. That means that it softens your hair and makes it super healthy!
@@danip1041 is right! Overtone is super conditioning. I also have naturally hair thick hair follicles, so it takes a lot to lighten it but also takes a lot to overprocess my hair (which I've done before and will not wish on anyone)

Did it cover your greys?
I was thinking of using this to cover my greys since I have random strands throughout my hair. Lol
It covered the greys and turned them into a light blue, not a saturated blue. Hope that helps!
