Your content more than makes up for the minor (and they were minor) technical glitches.
    I have a TI-99/4A that I inherited from a friend.
It still works and it's always a blast to fire it up every now and then, just to remember the "good old days."
Thank you for your hard work in making these videos.

You're too kind. Thanks for watching. I had a friend when I was a kid who had a TI-99/4A. I picked up the FinalGrom99 recently and have been playing some of the games. Brings back memories.

@@YARC-1981 Watching your videos is always a pleasure!
I still have my original Dragon 64 that my father bought me back in the day. It was either a Dragon or a VIC 20, since there were literally no home computers in Swaziland (where I grew up) and very few in Johannesburg, the nearest big city that did have machines.
I now have the Dragon, the TI-99/4A, my very first Apple Mac 512K (still working), two C64's, an SVI 728 and a ZX81.
      I am not a collector - I am a hoarder! LOL
Memories are indeed what these machines bring.

Much appreciate the detailed troubleshooting. I've been trying to learn to use my oscilloscope, and this is helpful!

Excellent video and work! The echo comes when you have speakers turned on, on the same computer you have connected the mic too. Had the same issues before. Loving the TI repairs!

Thanks, Rudy! You're, of course, right, but I don't have my voice channel output to local speakers or a monitor channel (that'd drive me nuts). Also, I didn't change the audio setup prior to the echo occurring or after it. It just "happened" in that segment, then went away all by itself. I can only assume it was a bug in OBS that I hope won't happen again. Hopefully, part 2 of this one will give us all the satisfaction we need and I'll be able to get the thing working. Cheers!

A small note on the use of base and acid to neutralise a spill - it is always best to do a spot test before you start to see which reacts (off-gas) so you use the right one (unless you have litmus paper on hand to measure the pH level). The abrasiveness of bicarb is not something to worry about the way you were attacking the board with a toothbrush. Even without a solder mask you'd struggle to do much damage without significant effort but it is definitely better to get it in solution rather than a slurry to maximise the reaction with an acid contaminant

I appreciate the advice. Thanks. And Thanks for watching. I do actually have litmus strips, just didn't think to use them.

Great video. I have a UK PAL TI-99/4A with the same fault symptoms as yours. I have all the correct voltages and clock's. I am getting towards changing the SRAM chips.

I'm beginning to suspect the SRAM and the ROMs myself, but I'm going to check control signals first. Thanks for watching!

I checked the GROMS and VDP in a working machine like you, all fine. I have now replaced the two SRAM chips and have a fully working machine. WooHoo.😁😁😊😊 Good luck with your repair too.

Although I really liked my Commodore computers best, The TI 99/4a was the first computer I had as a kid. My stay at home mom spent many, many hours playing the adventure game Return to Pirate's Cove by Scott Adams on it while I was at school. We didn't have the expansion box, so it was cassette tapes all the way. Yeah, there were cartridges, but they didn't really have a huge selection. I seem to remember a lot of the cartridges being educational. But this was the first computer I learned BASIC on.
Also, I loved the voice echo! I kinda feel like there should be a "Todd God" mode where you add some reverb, for some reason. 🤪

I was all cassettes and cartridges on my VIC-20 and Color Computer 1 until I finally got a disk drive (cobbled together from spare parts) for my Coco 3. I loved adventure games, just didn't have many until my DOS days when I played a ton of Infocom adventures. A lot of the TI software seems to be edutainment and productivity.
"Todd God" -- I like that. :) But I'm too likely to let it go to my head. Thanks for watching, Marcus. Oh, and I just saw you join the Discord. Welcome.
