That was a journey! Great find on that bent over socket pin Todd. Really enjoying these videos

Machines which someone put some work on can be a pain. Untouched c64s usually are quite easy to fix. Very well done, sir! :-)

Yeah, who doesn’t know this kind of roller coaster, never really tried tech 🙂 I was once hunting a problem, that was caused by a wrong data sheet for a week.

That WAS kind of frustrating until I figured it out. I couldn't reconcile the values I was seeing when I scoped the pins with what was on the schematic.

Hi, I haven't even finished the video yet, but nice work. Don't beat yourself up.. been there, and I'm sure lots of others have:) remember.. you have a good vic this time and good sids on the other boards. That's awesome

@@donaldblakley6796 Thank you. I didn't mean to sound too negative. It was challenging, but fun. I regret the lost CIA and KERNAL, but as for the rest, it was fun figuring it all out.

That's most important. U had fun:) just out of curiosity... did you get your spare 8701s and color ram chips used on ebay? Those are 2 chips that I don't have spares

It's been a while, so I'm not sure. I THINK I remember buying them from AliExpress. I just checked my ebay purchase history and neither the 8701s nor the 2114s show up there. I do also have a few of Jeff Birt's 8701 replacements, but I like to use the real deal when possible.

Mighty fine marathon you got going here :) Are you leaving the remaining working mT ram chips be for the time being?

Yes. I don't think I made it clear at all that I'm just trying to get the machines working at this point. I'll go back later and do all the common sense "future proofing" stuff like binning MT RAM and MOS logic chips. Thanks!

When plugging stuff into the ports, make sure the power and video connectors are not plugged in, make a habit of this, don't be lazy. Both those plugs provide a mains ground path to the board and an ESD charge becomes much more dangerous. I lost an Amiga 500 CIA that way just last week, I needed to solder 2 wires on 2 vias, and got lazy, did not unplug everything, most probably a little charge on my soldering iron found its way to mains ground thru the CIA, killing it instantly.
