Having animals means you are always going to be faced with the challenge of doing what’s best for the animal, and making the animal comfortable, regardless of what’s going on, and not letting the animal suffer. If they were on their own without a human taking care of them, then nature could take its course. but, when you see an animal suffering, it is your responsibility to intervene, it’s a lot of work having animals and a lot of responsibility. I’m sorry if I sound harsh, I didn’t know how else to word this.
Oh Grainger, the pic of you and River walking away from the camera about took away my breath! You see, our 40 year old son transitioned to his Heavenly home one week ago. He succumbed to cancer a short 3 months after the diagnosis. One of my favorite pictures of him and his almost 3 year old son is very similar to yours-they we’re walking away from the camera holding hands. We miss our son oh so much! Enjoy your kids! ♥️

Hi Granger. There is a medication you can get at your local farm supply to keep your hen from being pecked more and aids in healing. I'm sorry that the heat is affecting you so negatively. It isn't like you to be fatalistic about simple pecking in your flock. Easy fix. Hugs from MT.

Amber it does seem like time goes faster the older you get. And I can't believe how big London and Lincoln are getting. They grow so fast and sometimes you just want to freeze time and let them stay small forever. Thank you for continuing to share it makes it feel like I'm extended family.
I live in Canada, and we are on a shallow water well . When it's really warm for many days, our well goes dry. So I feel you, Granger. I wish it would rain here, too. There is just not enough rain this summer.
Seeing you and Maverick in that truck sure is reminiscent of those truck trips and truck talks with River. Getting a Lane Frost belt buckle...how cool is that? Watching you walk with Maverick on that pier definitely reminded me of what I believe was your last video with River shortly before he passed. I am definitely over this heat and this dry weather. I just wish it was over us. I keep praying for beneficial rain and cooler temperatures, but I always add with that a request for the proper mindset until God decides it's time to cool us down and provide some rain for us. Yes, summer went by very quickly, but I must admit I'm looking forward to fall. It's my favorite time of year. After tonight, Granger just has two more shows left. Kids today start school so early but then they get more days off during the year. I have Oak trees and there are these tiny acorns that have been falling out of the trees. Today 8/24 we reached 109 and with the wind outside I felt as though I opened the oven door. I sure hope the chickens are going to be ok. Granger have a safe trip and Amber you as well. Wishing the kids a wonderful year in school. Maverick was wanting to cool Mom off. He is a trip. Much love to the Smith's
