Hey Granger...your neighbor up the 35 in Temple...our last icemageddon was Feb. 2021...our house will never forget because we lost power for 5 days...survived with fireplace and a generator. Lowest temp at our house was 1 deg. F. I remember you guys were in the 5th wheel in a metal building....hope we never have it that bad again! And although this storm isn't as bad as the one in 2021, the trees will be more damaged because of the extreme drought leading up to this storm... the trees are much weaker. On a positive note..lots of firewood to season for a couple of years from now.
Yeah, I've been thinking that it must be the drought making the tree damage so bad this time. Our trees have had a pretty tough time lately, and I think this was just too much for some of them.
Maveerick wanting Alexa to play "Dada"- absolutely precious. Texas is definitely pyschotic. Hope the power is back on and you now have water. Stay safe. Blessings
I love that you provide heat for your chickens. Everyone says oh they will be fine and then they're not fine and have frostbite issues etc. Nothing wrong with making your animals comfortable instead of leaving them miserable.
I love snow days when everyone can be home doing fun things. Love to have the fireplace on and bake. Get comfy on the couch and watch movies. Thankful for a warm home and good food that God provides.
The second night was horrible for our trees and electricity poles west of Austin. We had downed lines due to the weight of the ice snapping poles and lines. Lots of tree limbs crashing during that second night and Lisa of power. Our electricity was out 82 hours. Thankfully it was cold most of those days because our freezers kept the food frozen and we didn’t lose our meat 🥩 and fish 🐠. So grateful to other electric ⚡️ companies that came to help getting repairs done as quickly as possible. Enjoy watching your UA-cam channel and the content.
Granger and Amber when maverick went to Alexa wanted to hear Dada I about died. Maverick stared to dance was the cutest. I could watch y’all 24/7. Love y’all so much 💗❤️💗❤️❤️❤️🙏🦋🎈YEEYEE
Omgosh Dada on Alexa is priceless😂 and he already started dancin before music plays!! And my Alexa immediately played “In this house” YES 😍Mav is the cutest ❤❤
I’m a Northern Girl at Heart and will always see the beauty in anything frozen. I understand no better than y’all the hazards of being without power, and the harm that ice can bring, lived it. I ALWAYS appreciate you sharing your family with us Granger, and that beautiful homestead!
Moving to my husband’s childhood home in southeast NC, we get a lot of the outer bands and sometimes find ourselves in the path of hurricanes that come inland. We installed a whole house generator a few years back and it’s the best thing we did. Everything operates as normal in an outage; well, outer buildings, etc.
Grainger , thank you for all you have done in your career . I just finished watching your movie " Moonrise" and like your character . I. Lost my wife to cancer August 31 , 2018 , she fought so hard but in the end I couldn't believe that I told her To go home to the Lord because she was fighting so hard and she just couldn't keep it up . I told her doctors to let her go to just keep her comfortable and out of pain . The doctors said that she would only last for about a half hour that was at about 10:00 am on August 30 2018 . Though she had to show the doctors they are not always right and didn't pass away until just after 12:20 am on the 31st of August . I couldn't accept that she was gone for the longest time , I think that I was looking for her . She was a strong believer in God and Jesus Christ , at first I didn't think much of her belief but I saw how unfailing her faith was and I also came closer myself. I only pray that I can do her faith in me justice . I wish to say I like and follow your families channel's all 3 of them . And Maverick is just growing up so fast !...!...!
Definitely a couple of "River" moments with Maverick at the start of this video. I can recall Amber and River singing "The Wheels On The Bus", and I can also clearly recall River strongly requesting that Granger be played on the sound system ("You're In It" comes to mind). Granger, I still think the storm you're referring to was the one in 2021, not 2020. No denying that 2020 was an awful year for a number of reasons, but don't recall bad ice in 2020. The bad storm where folks were without power for several days started Feb. 14th of 2021. Cool lesson on heating, and it makes sense. Not sure why I've never thought of that before, but I'll be using that lesson going forward. I'm thinking there's got to be some spiritual application/sermon topic that can be derived from that. Just haven't come up with it yet. Maybe something like God giving off heat to us, and then we radiate that heat to/with one another when we gather together? Still need to flush that thought out some. Glad to hear the generator came through for y'all. I was wondering about it when I heard there were outages up in your area. Thanks for sharing your lives with us. #YeeYee
Mav wanting to hear dada on Alexa was so cute! So sorry the weather has been so cold down there. Generator is a great idea. We have 1 also that has to be turned on manually when our power goes out. I am sure you will figure out how to plug the well house into the generator, too. God Bless & stay warm!
Mav is the sweetest asking Alexa for dada 😊 Those poor trees. Might want to plant a few hardier ones. The ice crystals sure are pretty though. Especially on the grass!
I'd been wondering if you all were without power. Prayed hard for y'all. So thankful you were prepared with the generator! Maverick started to dance before Dadas music came on... so cute ! God bless you and keep you all!! Hugs, love and prayers from a Kansas Grandma
Tell London I watched some of her videos with my 14 year old daughter and the making a cake blindfolded was hilarious. Best one and bravo to yall for letting those kids do these fun things and get messy. I love it so much.
I live NW Austin, and driving around after the ice left, it was heart breaking to see all the broken Oak branches. Days later still amazes me to see how many piles of branches/limbs are on the side of the road waiting to be collected. 4 days with out power, yeah I don't care for these ice winters.
We are in southeast Arkansas and we got the same weather. We only lost two limbs , but the county north of us has a lot of trees down. Stay safe. We are facing tornadoes tomorrow. Loving the weather.
A separate gen back-up on your well is a great idea! Specially if that is a 220 amp well. According to the 12 year solar cycle Texas will probably have another bad winter before things start warming up to normal winters again. Keeping ya'll in my prayers!
So sorry for the cold and ice. Some in my family had to get out in that because of a emergency and hospital visit for a disabled family member. They are still there. Have not got answers to what happened, so prayers please. I pray things have warmed up since then. Maverick wanting to hear papa's music, so sweet. God bless and stay safe Smith family.
My daughter lives in Dallas and the roads were such a mess. She went into labor during the ice storm. Thank goodness everyone was able to slowly make it to the hospital, lol!
So heartbreaking to see more of your trees just being destroyed! Maverick you're so cute! Wants to hear Daddy singing! Take care and stay warm! Hope you get power soon! I know you'll figure something out with your water situation Granger! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏. God bless all.
Y'all stay warm and safe during your cold spell! Hopefully you can get the water on soon and you don't lose too many trees. Love and prayers for y'all! ♥️🙏♥️🙏♥️
I feel so spoiled in California right now. I was so used to east coast winters. It was always tree limbs freezing and falling on powerlines in NJ also! There are so many trees there it always happens during ice storms and heavy snow storms. Sad for your oak trees! The greenhouse seems to be great, nice hack. Love seeing Mavy request his Dada on Alexa. So adorable! ❤️ Stay warm! Hope the well house power wasn't out to long!
I remember watching u and Amber in the ice storm last year and u were outside listening to the tree limbs break under the weight of the ice… that was such an eery sound!! stay safe !! Love and prayers sent your way🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
May God give you the strength and will to handle today’s challenges, grace to keep achieving and strong health to keep living. May this Tuesday be a blessing to you. Have a Beautiful and Blessed evening/ day and week. See you next video. Stay safe and healthy. God Bless.
Mrs. Alma, I got worried for a bit because I didn't see you right away on top of the comments where you usually are. I'm praying for you and your husband and family. 🙏🙏🤗🤗🙏🙏🤗🤗🙏🙏🤗🤗. I'm praying and sending love to everyone out there. Be safe and warm and well. God bless you all.
@Victoria S. yes, he's doing better. We're waiting to hear from the surgeon on what's next for hubby. He's the one who wanted him to see the Pulmonary specialist. I'm doing pretty good. It does but trying to stay strong. My surgery has been postponed until I get health insurance. We appreciate the continued prayers from lots of friends on here. How are you, friend?!
@Lana K. from New Mexico thank you, friend. We're continuing to pray for you and your family. It's warm here. Praying no severe weather the next few days.
What you need for the well house is a generator transfer switch and outlet to connect a jenny. This way you can connect a portable generator to the outlet outside the well house and start it up when you need water. I remember the ice storm we had here in MO around 2006. It occurred over night. I lost an elm tree and juniper bushes in the front of my house. It knocked the power out for about a day to day and a half. I stood out side in the wee hours of the morning and for a metro area it dead quiet and you could hear the trees break and crash to the ground.
Truly have enjoyed watching this. I have been so blessed not to have lost electricity as so many folks here in Texas have. Well at least you will have replacement wood for the fireplace. The best thing is the invention of the chainsaw. Looks like the greenhouse is doing just fine. Thank you so much and Love y'all.
Great episode. Awesome having the generator for your house. That’s a huge relief! Good luck with the well house. Love seeing all of you guys, love the Smith’s 💜💜💜💜💜
Texas here, Joshua, and early February 1,while bringing water to my chickens, took a step on the ice and fell down and broke my arm all the way through my humerus right below my shoulder! Hate when Texas does this!
I put in a Generator Interlok kit at my house which allows me to plug my generator into a 30A plug on the back of the house that feeds power to my box. That would be a perfect set up for the well house. Super simple install. One day I'll have one of the automatic kick overs like yours. Those are so cool!
Another beautiful video y’all truly compliment each other Amber is breathtaking beautiful and so sweet and kind I love that y’all aren’t into the country singers fake life we see real life when watching the Smiths ❤️
I love how Mavy walks over to the radio when he wants to hear Dada! So cute!! I am so sorry about the ice storm (again)! I would love to join in on the chainsaw party!!
I'm in southern Ontario Canada and have been through so many ice storms and snowstorms so I get what you're talking about with the ice causing the power outage. Whether down there or up here trees can only handle so much ours do the same up here with that much ice. The only real difference is you guys are not as equipped because you're not used to it to the same extent as others in other areas. As for the greenhouse the area where I'm at is basically almost all greenhouses and they're with that plexiglass so that in of itself is not the thing but getting it to stay in heating like you are with radiant heat makes a huge difference. Mav asking to hear Dada on Alexa was so sweet so glad you captured that to share with us.
Oh my…this ice storm reminds me of the last one you guys had. It was the first video I saw of the Smiths. I will never forget that day. You were sitting in the field, surrounded by iced trees that were cracking, breaking, and falling all around you. You were talking about a “loss” you had suffered and I was trying to figure out what that loss was. Of course as I watched more and more of your videos, I realized your loss was sweet little River. My heart still breaks for you and for River, and for your family. You’ve come a long way and you’ve helped a lot of people through similar circumstances. And I KNOW you’ll always feel that loss. All I can say is thank God for God and for the HOPE that is within us, KNOWING you will see River again!!! God bless you and your family and all those suffering loss of any kind…it is never easy. 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
Absolutely love Mavericks pj's. I and my my 28 year old daughter would love to have adult knomes pj's one piece. Thanks for sharing Stay safe 🙏 ❤️ From NH
Amber you made my kiddos and I all jump lol we were watching the video before bed and when you told your Alexa to play moonrise for Maverick it set off my sons Alexa and it started playing it really loud lol
We’ve been in a lot of ice storms here in NW Arkansas and SW Missouri. Please, please don’t walk under trees when they are like that. It is very dangerous!!! We love our generac generator. We have one hooked up to our propane also and has been a life saver more than once. 😊🥰
It didn’t get that cold around here in Alvin texas :) it stayed above freezing and now it’s 72 again. Lol this weather has been crazy this year. Amber is so beautiful
Hey Granger sorry about the trees but it's God's way to make way for new & you know that everything must have a good foundation to stay strong that's what I got to do this spring for my deer food lot to lime down & replant clover & you are getting what we get mid March during March madness every year ice storm or snow storm that's Indiana for ya don't like the weather today stay around cause 24hrs it will change GB y'all stay safe (your lost old wolf pup friend LTC 😀)
Dang I hope your Trees don't get so tore up again 😧 . 🙏🙏🙏🙏It warms up ! Mother Nature will do as She does, you'll just have to wait it out 🤗. Smart Man your Eatin good and staying Warm ! YEE YEE 💗. JO JO IN VT 💞💨❄️☃️
Maverick wants to hear dad on Alexa!! He’s to smart lol! Sub zero weather is terrible especially with rain we have sub zero weather but with snow and freezing rain but I have never seen Icicles on our trees only in Idaho! That’s funny in Oregon my SIL called and they canceled school because the sprinklers got a little frost! Stay warm, update on chicken eggs? I told my friend what you said and she she heard about it too.
Years back I was told if your power goes out, don't open the fridge as if you let warmer air in, it fails faster, and if you shove newspaper, clothes, etc into it fast, it will warm up far slower. So it makes sense that less air in the greenhouse means the heat stays longer. Last week was interesting for my family, as my parents and I all drive for Door Dash now, and having 3 days where we couldn't work was not fun, but as always, God saw us through.
A little solar generator could run the well house, according to other UA-cam'ers off grid. Ya pretty sure you can. This ice is off the wall weird. Oregon has had its fair share of ice storm's. Thanks for sharing 👍🤗❤👋✌
Granger; just buy a trough water heater for the chicken and the goats. You can get a 55 gal plastic drum and catch the rain water off the roof of the chicken house too.
We got a backup generator last year, the best investment ever made in our last 50 years! Now if we can still get the fuel when needed it will be nice too!
It was -42 in Nova Scotia this past weekend. Record breaking temps. It was so cold the in floor heating in some of my buildings wouldn't hardly heat the floors. In another building the sprinkler system froze then started to defrost and then broke, and then exploded. Had to call the fire department. It was everywhere in the lobby streaming from above. Crazy weekend. On Sunday it heated up 45 degrees. haha One doesn't say that too often.
They have a well dug on their property. He referenced it in a video last week when he was showing them doing storm prep. That's not usual for folks who live out like they do.

@@JennDios Yes, I lost power for quite awhile; however, I was very fortunate in that my home did not substain major damage. thank you for asking.
Mavy is so cute! 🤗 Love how he wants his daddy's song on Alexa!🥰💖 So sorry about the ice storm! That's not fun at all! Stay safe and warm! 🥰💓☺️💖

From NH
In Missouri in February, our trees do not have leaves to weigh extra heavy in ice.
We lost mostly cedar this year but the live oaks and magnolias got hit also. 🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏
Oh Maverick is soooo cute!
💕
Little Maverick should be on a commercial for Alexa - that is too cute!!!!! :) -Hopefully the ice days are gone for the year now!!! :)
Nasty weather! At least you have power in the house.
Amber you made my kiddos and I all jump lol we were watching the video before bed and when you told your Alexa to play moonrise for Maverick it set off my sons Alexa and it started playing it really loud lol
Your pictures are amazing,...be safe
We’ve had barely any snow this year here in South Kansas City , Missouri! Odd !
It's crazy that you guys got so much more ice than we did in North Texas. Mostly rain and a tiny bit of snow.
Love it! YeeYee!
Haha, my Alexa went off and started playing Moonrise sound track, well played Amber, well played!
Hey Granger sorry about the trees but it's God's way to make way for new & you know that everything must have a good foundation to stay strong that's what I got to do this spring for my deer food lot to lime down & replant clover & you are getting what we get mid March during March madness every year ice storm or snow storm that's Indiana for ya don't like the weather today stay around cause 24hrs it will change GB y'all stay safe (your lost old wolf pup friend LTC 😀)

when you told Alexa to play Granger's album, my echo picked it up and started playing it. 😊
While you guys were getting the freezing rain we had - 45/46. In Atlantic Canada. Last Friday into Saturday. Brrr 🥶
Hihi, come to Nevada, we have real Winters, snow, and Ice and …. GOD!
❄️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❄️
Maverick wants to hear dad on Alexa!! He’s to smart lol! Sub zero weather is terrible especially with rain we have sub zero weather but with snow and freezing rain but I have never seen Icicles on our trees only in Idaho!
That’s funny in Oregon my SIL called and they canceled school because the sprinklers got a little frost!
Stay warm, update on chicken eggs? I told my friend what you said and she she heard about it too.
👍♥️
My Alexa heard you & started to play Granger’s Music🎶😂♥️
Look on bright side, more fire wood to stay warm.
Granger; just buy a trough water heater for the chicken and the goats. You can get a 55 gal plastic drum and catch the rain water off the roof of the chicken house too.
Thank goodness your power isn't coming from windmills, right?!
How do you get water granger?
They have a well dug on their property. He referenced it in a video last week when he was showing them doing storm prep. That's not usual for folks who live out like they do.
Last bad ice storm was February 11, 2021.
