Gotta say, I'm enjoying your bike reviews more than I expected 🙂. You're fortunate to live in such a great outdoors area! We just finished 30 or so days over 115 in Phoenix 😒

You would have noticed a large difference, for the better up and down on those trails with the bike in the neutral or maybe the steep head tube angle. I have found the slack really only comes to life when it’s pretty and steep and narly.

@@SkiEssentials picked up this bike last week thanks to your review. Nowhere near your ride level but wanted something that didn't disappoint starting out and something to grow into. Excited to get into the type of trails here.

Thanks for these. So my question is, if you have ONE bike for everything- which stumpy? I have the evo but debating selling because I don’t do really big stuff but I didn’t find it much different that the regular as far as pedaling and do like that it’s more forgiving. Problem is, it’s next to impossible to demo in your size side by side over trails with jumps etc. I have the expert and got the carbon bars. I just have this sense of not having the right bike but also can’t prove it lol. Did you try riding in the steepest setting to see if the handling improved for you? How do you think lighter carbon wheels will do for performance? I got the carbon controls for pedaling days but have yet to try them out since I’m debating selling. Want to keep it in pristine condition until I decide.
I really like the idea of the sworks stumpy ltd. Still 130/140, but fox 36 and float x. I’m wondering if that’s the sweet spot especially with about 30% off deals right now.

I’ve had my Evo Expert for about 3 weeks and love it. I swapped my carbon wheels from a Tallboy and didn’t really notice much difference except that the rear hub on my carbon wheel is much better (engagement). While the normal Stumpy should pedal a little better, I doubt you’d notice a major difference. I’ve found the Evo to be a very capable climber (I live in CO).

@@puckcoach3 thanks man. I decided to keep it! I also doubt there will be much difference. Just bought the SRAM transmission and now I’m having a ball lol

It seems like the 130/140 is a great place to be. Beyond that, the sky's the limit for build. Personally, I just don't ride enough big stuff to necessitate the 150 mm travel. That said, I had a total blast on the Turbo Levo Comp Alloy--that might be my current bike of choice!

@@SkiEssentials evo was too hard to sell! Upgraded to transmission and haven’t looked back

@@SkiEssentials If you’re in descent shape, look into the Levo SL. Much lighter and rides like a regular mountain bike. That said, it’s not for everyone. You would have to shoulder some of the load/effort 😎

Most of our trails are multi-directional--just a few specifics in our town network. Wheels on these bikes are the same size.

Your comments about your right knee hitting the frame seem strange to me. I rode my Stumpy Evo today, with knee pads, and paid attention to how close my knee was to the frame. Even with the added volume of the knee pad, I was at least 1.5-2.0 inches from the frame on that side 🤔 ...

Maybe it's as simple as foot placement on the pedals?

C'mon push that bike harder on that pump track and jump lines. It's no XC bike.
