- Opening Weekend at Bolton Valley Bike Park in Vermont. This is still one of my favorite places to ride. Being opening weekend, and after a series of rainstorms only expert and intermediate terrain was open which made for some spicy fun. Additionally a surprise thunderstorm in the area, shut the lift down and cut our day short.

If you saw this videos earlier this morning you aren't crazy. I exported the video in 1080 instead of 4K. So i had to reupload the video.
I was very confused
the old video is still up though!
I originally unlisted the original videos to keep the comments. I hoped that it wouldn't show up in peoples feeds but it was still some how getting more traction that this upload so i just made it private. But doing so that deleted any comments.
But why did you edit the lizard people out 🤔
😂
I want your “trail that I suck at”-level of riding 😂
10:48 the driest trail ever...
Most savage thing I've seen on a bike this season
average uk trail
You really do make it look easy. Bolton is terrifying.
Phil - here's a trail I suck at but proceeds to make it down. Me- sitting here stuffing my face full of jojos watching and thinking yep I would have died 11 times in the first section if I rode this trail. 😂
Love that your hoodie strings show just how steep it really is LOLOL
i was not much on youtube for some time, maybe 6 months since i last saw phil riding. broooo phil is faaaaaaaaaaaast!
Yeah Phil has the most mind bending pov of probably anybody on youtube. The way he chooses lines and links trails together is always 10000iq
I'm scared just watching! I've never ridden trails that muddy and wet. Wow 😮
Nice looking ride Phil. Great surf video.
I remember riding Bolton back 2006'ish. On my Balfa DH! It was so techy and scary. I remember a big drop too.
Every time you go over those rocks it looks like you're a pro.
Well to be fair, I raced downhill professionally.
That last ride was wild I fell like 6 times watching it lol. Your bad ass Phil
That's some crazy frikkin tech dude!
Awesome riding as always, man. This park looks like a blast, even if half of it is probably above my skill level 😂
13:12 I love how every go around on this section is just worse and worse... What a day!
Can't wait for the new bike check video!
🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲
You mean the one i uploaded a few weeks back? ua-cam.com/video/pZ7M1XGPYuc/v-deo.htmlsi=AysvXmO6T6gfcmMr
Great video but I like the regular GoPro lanes view better then 360
That's gotta bring back some of the feelings when you used to race with all that spice!!
those landings are so smooth it's like you didn't leave the ground at all.
Opening day in the rain was no joke this year- roots were greeeeeeasy
Dang Phil!!!! You never surprise me with your skills my man… what bike where you on for this venture and what tires were you running to get the traction you had??
I was there the day before you on opening day, the mud was no joke.
Saturday or Sunday? I ebiked there earlier in the week and it was so perfect. Why does it always rain on the weekend!
I've gotta get to Bolton
How do they fix up these trails after a day like this? I feel like it would just create ruts that would last all season. Do they have groomers like for the ski hills?
I wish i can do jumps and drops like you
The sheer speed you're carrying is insane.
yoooo i was there that day and saw u shredding
Bro you GOTTA come back to Brice bike park🤞🥳
Man! The first part of this video gotcha bike shaking and jerking like a seismometer near a plate boundary! Im suprised your wheels didnt come off. Or you bend a rim or crank on some of those giant rocks!
Every time you go to Bolton it’s super slippery
Aside from the sketchy traction, I always feel like my drive train is getting eaten up by mud in wet conditions. Maybe someday gearboxes will be good enough to replace gears open to the elements
Cool video, I've watched every one of your videos ever, but this new super wide angle view literally gives me a headache, I had go turn off :(
It's crazy to me how like 4 years ago we would ride to the top of bolton cause they didn't have lift service and then rode down in half shell helmets.
I know right?! First lap down Bolton was Outslaw, it was a great introduction.
you should check out stratton when you can
Loving all the bike park videos this year, Are you going to whistler this year phil?
No plans yet but not out of question.
@@SkillsWithPhil Cool, Do you think It's even worth A content creator going to whistler purely for filming anymore? It seems like everyone does it now
The part that makes Whistler interesting is that its such a universally recognized bike park. It's fun to see how different riders get along with familiar (to the audience) terrain. But otherwise yeah the novelty of it has warn off so it won't be ground breaking, riding there is still good for the soul :)
What action camera do you film with?
Holy fuck, the tech is real
Im just watching at 9:50pm 6/14… and I’m a bit nauseated with what seems like the GoPro setting.
Could this be what you uploaded again with?
Granted, I’m only 3:50 in, but I’m just not feeling this setting, or something. 🤷🏼♂️
It has a fisheye effect that’s weird.
I swear I was going crazy, commenting again for the algorithm!
Where is this ?
Damn!
Nice
phil what camera do you use?
Good old broken valley.....where lift mechanics go to die
This if that crazy ove creft lose close need next flower my follow end bake
You still running the GoPro?
Phil, I was under the impression that riding trails in those conditions damages them. What are your thoughts on that?
This is at a bike park, there's a paid trail crew maintaining the trails. Our public trails are closed in those conditions. But it also depends on the geography, some soil compositions hold up better in the wet
I understand it is a bike park that you pay to ride which helps pay crews to repair the trails. The same can be said for State and County Parks. Taxpayer revenue is earmarked for crews to maintain those parks. In my opinion that does not mean it is okay to knowingly cause damage to trails. I don’t like to see riders sliding, spraying dirt in the air or leaving skid marks. Same goes for overly wet conditions. The ruts left can cause crashes if they are not immediately repaired.
I understand your view point and appreciate the respect you have for trails. There's a big distinction between a public trails which is funding by taxes, donations and volunteers hours and a private business that charges for access and turns a profit. To be clear I'm not a huge fan of purposely doing unnecessary damage, but wear and tear is normal and bike parks will close trails that are more susceptible to damage.
To be clear, I'm also a trail builder myself. I have built public and private mountain bike trails.
@@erictrelz3519 this is a for profit bike park. They NEED people to ride it on days like this to keep the lights on.
@@SkillsWithPhil good response
Here's a trail I suck at... But let my wipe clean my camera...

I love your camera angle/zoom. Mind if I ask what camera/mods you’re using! Aside from that, I enjoy the channel and your shredding!
