Monaco is to France what the Cayman is to the UK (offshore banking). What I don't understand is that since Monaco's currency is the € it's not a member of the EU (same thing with Andorra and San Marino)
They are tiny states so they didn't have their own currency even before the euro (it would be totally useless for such a tiny state to have their own currency, it's much more efficient to have the same currency than their big neighbourg). All these states used the currency of their neighbourgs before (Monaco the French franc, San Marino the Italian lira and Andorra the French franc and the Spanish peseta). Since these big neighbourgs dropped their national currency for the euro, then the microstates de facto did the same. So it has nothing to do with the European Union, but using the money of their neighbourgs (which use the euro). Monaco uses the Euro because France uses the euro, even if it's not part of the European union (before they used the French franc yet they were not part of France, same with San Marino and Italy). In fact Monaco even had the Monegasque franc (but it was basically French franc printed in Monaco with a different design that had the same value than French franc and could also be used everywhere in France and French franc could be used everywhere in Monaco, just like today euro coins have different designs according to their country of origin but can be used everywhere in the Eurozone). Another exemple is Liechtenstein that use the Swiss franc. If Switzerland had joined the European Union and had changed its currency for the euro, then Liechstenstein would have done the same. Also there are a lot of countries using the money of a foreign country (for exemple some central American countries like Salvador and Panama use the US dollar and some Balkans countries like Montenegro and Kosovo use the Euro, but in these cases it's more to have a stable currency than for practical reason).
Then you must not understand that human existence in any meaningful form requires balance. Palaces are important parts of overall human culture, just as are hospitals.
Beyond the Grand Prix, the Palace is a fun tour and the Aquarium is quite nice also. One tip, if you are down by the water and want to get back up to the top, use the escalators and elevators of the train station. You can get a quick tour of the city on a hop on hop off bus. Also, Mentone and Mentone=Garamonde are nice to visit also.

I see no problem anytime a palace is turned into a hospital. It should happen more often.
Then you must not understand that human existence in any meaningful form requires balance. Palaces are important parts of overall human culture, just as are hospitals.
in 1972, Monaco was invaded and overrun by France. What did they do after breakfast?
Good Ol; DeGaylle raising hell as usual ! We need some of that here in the U.S. with our own Rich !
Love your videos, love the depth and the storytelling method, all of your channels are gems
I STILL can’t stand the commercials but you did make me smile a lot! Good show!
Requests: Antarctica; Kabayan fire mummy tombs in the Philippines; Nagoro, a village populated by dolls in Japan.
Uhm there is already an Antarctica episode. Enjoy!
I freaking love you.
That intro had me so excited to learn!
I like the accent you put on when describing Monaco-you sound like Robin Leach, or Alan Whicker.
And home to Charles Marc Herve Perceval Leclerc, the only Scuderia Ferrari driver that wasn't mistreated by the Italians.
Finally a comment about our lord and savior!
That chihuahua looked so much like mine when I try to take a rawhide from her 😂
Fascinating history that deserves to be remembered!
The chihuahua line was well thought out. Nice.

this channel is like back when the history channel was good. great history content
I’m glad I’m not the only one!
The Monagasque seriously just annoyed their sovereign into granting them rights and that’s hilarious
for all intents and purposes; monaco is a french protectorate
Surprised you didn’t mention the F1 Grand Prix in this?
Thanks for making a great and fair video about my favourite place! Good conclusion at the end aswell.
Wait. Monaco is smaller than NYC Central Park? Holy crap, I knew it was small but I didn't know it was THAT small.
I love your narrative style. Subscribed!
Eyy, shoutout to R.I.! 👍
I'm changing my name and moving to Monaco. There's a tent city, right? Bring Your Own Tent?
Beyond the Grand Prix, the Palace is a fun tour and the Aquarium is quite nice also. One tip, if you are down by the water and want to get back up to the top, use the escalators and elevators of the train station. You can get a quick tour of the city on a hop on hop off bus. Also, Mentone and Mentone=Garamonde are nice to visit also.
No mention of Grand Prix. That is the only thing monaco is known for.
True.
It was in April 2001 I visited Monaco with a tour group. What I remember about that experience is seeing the crypt of Princess Grace and the casino. We stayed in Monte Carlo for two hours because the cost of parking our tour bus was $90.00.
Please do Jerusalem (or just the old city if Jerusalem is too big a topic)
Got to visit Monaco when visiting France in 2017. Got some nice food and got to see the changing of the guards there.
We were lucky enough to visit Monaco in late Feb.2020 just before COVID wrecked tourism..Glad we did!
