Just watched ferraris and chiron drag racing with 1000 Hp and Hybrid engines doing 9's and 10's, slightly modified Barra with less power doing 8's, truly an amazing engine. Excellent work Scotty
Be realistic. Horses for courses. Those super cars aren’t built to go down a drag strip.
Bugatti weighs as good as 2 tonne without driver and can go 9.1 in the qtr.

On the first few episodes of carnage if you had of told me that Scotty would be bolting together 1000hp Barras in the street machine workshop a few days before racing, with it actually surviving the dyno session, I would not have believed it. Good work mate, this channel has come a long way
It's been a steep learning curve. Those first turbo taxi videos are embarrassing for me to watch now
We all have to start somewhere. We'll do e on getting it done and being able to own up to your mistakes...... Not easy to do.

You won't get more power just from a forged bottom end it does help for more boost should have put in bigger camshafts

new turbo/mani would get you to that 1xxx mark, certainly sounds different with that stock/log style manifold, you'd definitely run 8s as it is now but!

I’m not a Barra fan, despite their capabilities (I’d enjoy the v8 more, any day of the week) but for the cost v power output, they’re a formidable engine 🔥

This thing is mental well done! Yeah it might be choking on that turbo but it’s still stonking output in that chassis and it should haul! And probably more easily consistent on track on smaller turbo maybe? That would make a good vid an on track comparison,as obviously the dyno numbers will rise but will the time slip drop? More power more problems but still definitely the Best ford/Mazda yet!

It really is a budget racecar, we'll never get our money back on it but it's given pretty good bang for buck
@@STREETMACHINETV Its not really about Return On Investment though, That MX set records, still setting records and brings a type of publicity money cant buy... Infamy :-) And if you compare it to say a campaign of 15 second spots on TV or a 30 second advert buy on Radio for 5 or 10k you are miles ahead hitting the exact audience you want.

Disappointed you only got 550rwhp out of LS when holdner got 1100fhp (way more then this built barra) out of stock bottom end one 14 years ago. Still cool video be good to see it at track running 8s
We got 649rwhp out of the twin turbo LS1 but we were warned we would split a bore in that engine if we pushed it much further.
650 hp in a miata is insane but it will be interresting to see how it perform at the strip.
whats the AR of the hot side? I've got a gen 3 3584 with 1.01 dual band and thought it would be good for more than 650.
Remember we're going through a Glide and a converter. So we're going to lower rear wheel figures than most Falcons
