Seeing your finished pages is a real joy! I just subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your work. You did a video on using acrylic paint in coloring books a few years ago. That was a great tutorial as well. Have a lovely day!🙋🌅
I absolutely love both cross stitched Ukrainian ladies. They are very festive. All of your coloring work was amazing as usual, but the alien world monster was a bit scary.😱 Still, I couldn't stop looking at it. Kerby Rosanes' is extremely skilled but his illustrations are too advanced for my limited imagination. You bring his creatures to life. The Pica spreads in Ivy are very creative and cohesive. I think adding the chains and the wood display shelf were perfect additions. Your vibrant pages are always a joy to see.💙💛💙💛💙💛💙
Thank you! I'm glad that I finally started Alien World by Kerby, but I must admit that for me this book is much harder to color comparing his previous books... I think that I still prefer Mythic World as my favorite.
Stunning work, Alena. Out of all the striking vibrant pages that you showed, I think I like the cats best. And your creative effects on the Ivy page. ❤❤❤
Thank you! I don't like 'things hanging in the air' on Johanna pages, so I'm glad that I managed to add this background. Page looks more completed, and more 'adult'
Man, it’s so hard to pick a favorite. They’re all just amazing. I think the alien world monster was just fabulous beautiful I’ll keep praying that you stay safe thank you.❤
❤❤❤ Thank you! I like Kerby's monsters, they definitely inspire to think out of my regular comfort color palette and to try the craziest color combos. And I like that he created several planets, so you can imagine world of ice, world of fire etc...
Congratulations to finishing the matchstick mouse book. As always beautiful colorings, my favorites were the one with the swans and the one with the Magnolias. Those cat books are also were cute😻
I'm watching this video and you are busy uploading more to Patreon. I see the notifications coming in. You did some lovely work in April Alena. I love the little Ukrainian women in cross stitch. They look so jolly. I am always delighted with all your pages. I can't pick a favourite here. But I don't like aliens of any kind and that KR Alien Worlds book gives me the creeps! I love that you have finished Matchstick Mouse Spring. And your work in A Frog's Tale is beautiful. I have that book. I've coloured in it and now I can't find it! I've looked everywhere I can think of but I can't see it. I think if I were pushed, I would choose the Escape to Wonderland image as my favourite because that indigo background is gorgeous. Inky blue, so it's very appropriate. My husband and I had lunch out today and when we had finished the waitress asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. I chose a roulade and my husband declined pudding in favour of another beer. The waitress and I then had a conversation about how women always love cake, sweets and puddings. But men are rarely bothered and afterwards I thought about it more and realised I've never heard a group of teenaged boys or men discussing where to go to get cake and coffee. That's such a girl thing and we do it all the time 😄 We have been to a beautiful glittering Christmas dinner and party in Whitehall Palace, London. The event was in the banqueting hall, which was the room they built a scaffold outside one of the large windows so that King Charles the first could walk out from the palace, though the window and onto the scaffold to have his head removed from his body by sword. Such a beautiful room with a glorious painted ceiling and lots of red and gold decoration. But such a grizzly act.
Your work in Ivy is stunning. I just started the book after letting it sit in my shelf and pulling it out to flip through for a couple of years. I wanted it all to be consistent, since it's a story, and just couldn't settle on how I wanted to color it. I finally decided on Prisma pencils alone so there is no risk of bleed through. I'm about four pages in and doing it from front to back. I know you seldom speak when coloring, but I'd love a talk through tutorial on gems.. you do such a good job of giving them dimension and sparkle. There is so much metal and glass in this book. My metal and pearls are good but I still struggle with cut gems..not only where to put highlight and shadow, but making the white highlights look natural. I can't tell you how many times I've added pen or paint only to hate it and have to scrape it off and "rescue" a gem. I have found adding a layer of clear Sakura Glaze pen really helps make them look like glass, so that is my current approach.. pencil, then glaze pen, and perhaps a white posca dot strategically placed here and there. I get into a lot less trouble with dots than lines. If anyone wants to try that you have to put the posca on top of the glaze pen, the pen smears the paint even if it's dry.
Thank you for your praise for my works in Ivy. Honestly I don't like Johanna Basford designs, but I was asked to do pictures from Ivy and to help some of my viewers to complete this book for their children or grandchildren. So I color in this book in random order, trying to find pictures which are more inspiring for me. So far I used in my book not only Prismacolor, Polychromos, ARRTX but also Derwent Inktense, watercolor paints and gouache paint, and I didn't have any problems with bleeding through, so if you want you can add other media to your Prismacolor pencils, especially for the backgrounds. I also found gemstones difficult to color, especially when you need to mask thick black lines. I honestly more enjoy coloring metals, there I have better understanding where to put highlights and shadows. As for talking during Badford's video tutorials, some of my subscribers think that I talk too much, lol, instead of coloring quicker. I think about doing next page with various objects, hanging on the wall and collected in Ivy's house, but I haven't decided yet how to do the background on that spread...
One of the reasons I’m your Patreon is because your Ukrainian, long before the war started, 2019 I think. My grandparents were both born in the Ukraine but met in a refugee camp in Germany after they were prisoners of the Nazis in WWII. My mother was born there and they all came to America when she was 5. Through Ellis Island and everything. My mom actually grew up speaking Ukrainian. My only memory of my grandfather is his Russian Orthodox funeral when I was 8 but I still leave the Christmas tree up until January 7th to honor him. It’s something my mom always did and keeping traditions going is important. I love your Ukrainian ladies. I have a Ukrainian egg from the Ukrainian sector of Manhattan and I got my mother nesting dolls from a Ukrainian artist depicting a Ukrainian fairy tale. I had a Ukrainian egg making set just like that little lady when I was a child. I was terrible at it . This war brings back memories of what my grandparents went through. I’m so sorry you are going through this and I pray you remain safe. You should be very proud of what an amazing strong Ukrainian woman you are. And how talented. And brave. The way you are continuing on with your channel and your tutorials on Patreon is very courageous.
I'm so sad to hear that your parents like many other Ukrainians had such a terrible experience during WWII, but in the same time I'm so glad that in the end they managed to meet each other and to build a happy life and happy family. Thank you for not forgeting your Ukrainian roots! When I think about all difficult times Ukraine had in previous and in this century, 2 wars, many years of passing lands between Russia, Austro-Hungary, Poland etc, kommunist times and repressions, Chernobyl tragedy, this war.. I feel sad because of the difficult destiny of so many generations, but in the same time I' m proud that we still are alive, and we still stay against the evil. Thank you for your support and for sharing with me your family history ❤️❤️❤️

❤❤❤ Thank you! We're holding, that's all I can say. April was difficult, and we have quite bad predictions for May and June...But it's already 800 days of war, and we're still alive. It's already a big achievement.
WOW. Every month your pictures get better and better. Great job on all of them.
Wow the Tales from the Stars pic is gorgeous Elena ❤
Love your cross stitch ladies

Thank you so much ❤❤❤!

Thank you! I love both cat's books, they have all things I like in coloring: a little bit of humor, adorable subjects, many details, decent paper.
You have some beautiful works again this month Alena, the jewelry page where you added the wooden boxes is brilliant 💍 ❤

Жаль, что говорящие на русском пришли нас убивать, и жаль, что множество моих русскоговорящих зрителей бурно этому радовались у меня на канале.
