All of his lectures are online for you to listen to without music. Some people like music, some people don't. All our brains are different, we all learn in different ways, there is no right or wrong way to listen to an Alan Watts video. At least that's what I believe :)

It's not only the fantastic points he makes, but it's also how he says it and the tone of his voice that makes his speeches so amazing.

One of the Most Brilliant Minds that We once Had Access to. He in My opinion Is Closer to the God Realization than Most others. And He had a HUGE Brain. Highly Intelligent and in Enlightenment. I Wish I had gotten a chance to meet him in my lifetime. That may have changed my course very early on. I Love Him All The Same. Beautiful Bright Soul!

The music ADDS to the content. A lot of people don't want to listen to people like Alan Watts but the music gives the right kind of feeling to the whole thing, if you're not already feeling it. It can just make it easier to get into. Although some times the music is too loud and does get distracting, so my only problem is that people can easily turn the volume of the music down for the loud parts but they never do.

I have a daughter that is the same, she loves acting and I realised in time that she was going to another direction , I did tell her many times, to pursue what she really loves, she is trying and I feel so happy for her, I know its hard to break the system but if you give the first step you will never go back :)

There are so many great teachers who just get it! i have researched this for over a year now the story that keeps coming up , the story that science is only just starting to understand is that we are all connected all one, the sandskrit texts the Buddhist/zen toaist theory etc etc, infinite intelligence , comes to them who ask, who close there eyes , whom mediate , were are so closed off to to the right information as we are using our eyes too much,, life is a journey make the most of it, this information from Alan is like gold dust for our soul, step out of the matrix boys and girls we are spirit being having a human experience, and we gave been created i truly believe love is the higher understanding that will not only help your experience on this life but also whatever awaits us when the time comes that we head to wherever Alan and the likes have gone,

You're attention is focused on what important to you, the speech or the song.. further more if you listen to the speech and don't have a challenge understanding it you'll notice the song actually compensates... its like a wave to Allan's voice it slows when he is and rushers when he accelerates.... beautifully done

I can't believe all these great video by Alan Watts are muted! They are so inspiring and I am shattered not to have the ability to listen to them now and again to escape the grasp of social conforming! Does any one know where we can actually listen to them! These videos are master pieces! Its such a shame! :(

To everyone upset about the music, I am leaving the link here to the video I took this excerpt from which is the entirety of this lecture all WITHOUT music. This was just my favorite part and I thought it'd be neat to make a new video with some music added in. I like listening to Alan Watts lectures on bus rides and the music makes me feel very peaceful and the whole lecture feels like a song. Maybe I am losing the meaning, but at the end of the day they have changed the way I view my life and I'd like to think I have interpreted his words how he wanted them to be :)

People complain about things they never paid for and that can enrich them. If they want this without the music, go to Amazon and purchase it there. Otherwise, enjoy the lecture and change your life. I loved the music underneath - this very video opened up my world to Alan Watts so thank you!

I agree, there are some video clips with Alan Watts in which the added video and music have a greater impact, at least in my case, so I find these particular videos better with (not to loud)music, but not all off course, it depend on the talent of the maker. And of course there are some speech of Alan who works better(again for me) without music.Anyway,I love all Alan Watts speeches, the guy is the epitome of wisdom, great humor, nice voice, I love Alan Watts :)

Pt. 3) By the way, while Alan Watts shared loads of wisdom with humanity,NO ONE holds more wisdom than another. EVERYONE is equally wise. No one needs to grasp EVERYTHING about anyone or any subject. That's just the ego wanting to be "special" or an "expert" at something. The BIGGEST waste of time is trying to please others instead of following your own inner guidance about what is right for you - what feels good to you at a Soul level; Enlightenment is just Being who you REALLY are. Godspeed 2U

This music adds power. Music can tone and deliver something much better. Movies have had music since the beginning of time and no one's complained about that.
    If anything.... music intensifies something.
Now if this speech had death metal playing.... that would kill it.

I think if you've been listening a bit longer to his words it get's a bit easier to understand and feel him, but don't forget youtube has certain rules about using content that's been copyrighted so by adding music it becomes a standalone creative piece and can not so fast be blocked, by the owners of the copyright

I Love you, and I wish you the best:)
    P.S. (BBraich05)

I save money, spend it on necessities and the money I have saved up I am so scared of using/wasting. I never do anything fun because of that fear, I am miserable, how can I call this living?! I don't get why this comment was downvoted....at all.
    You're right on the mark.
In fact, Alan Watts himself had a whole lecture on just this point.
Seems those who downvoted you could use listening to that lecture...
Watts basically said the world indeed needs "squares"...people with egos who make up the status-quo.
Without them, there'd be nothing to evolve relative to. It takes all kinds for reality to be what it is.
We need the uptight egos just as much as we need the free-spirited artists.

Pt.2) On "MUST" simply ALLOW themselves to surrender to who they REALLY are - allowing themselves to FEEL what feels best for them in every moment and area of their life and chose THAT. That is the ONLY "must" if there IS one. I say, to be happy, if something doesn't work for you, don't choose it, don't look at it, don't listen to it. Others create videos like this one for the mere joy of sharing & expressing themselves. Isn't it great that you can change the dial on your radio - or turn it off?

For all of you saying; “yeah but money keeps you alive, you can’t just forget it”. Have already been sucked into the black hole that we call the “system”. Please, if you are reading this LISTEN! Money is all well and good, but you are forgetting the MEANING OF LIFE. It’s not just to get boring suit and tie jobs that give you pennies and watch as your dreams fall apart whilst you struggle to live. FORGET everything, humans have created this system of “you can’t do this and you can’t do that. It’s unrealistic”. F*ck the system. I hate the cliche but You Only Live Once. So don’t forget that! Humans are sheep that can talk. I stick to that statement and all ways will.
Your life is yours, do whatever you want. Wouldn’t you rather die doing what you love, than live a horrific boring life. And I hate to say it but look at your parents.
Mould your own future. It’s instinct to give up, don’t.

When he said "you do that and forget the money" he didn't mean it quite literally. What he meant was that you need to find something that you love to do rather than doing something just for the intention of making money. And as he explains, once you become a master of whatever profession you're doing, you will be able to get a good fee for it. It doesn't matter if it's your hobby or an office job as long as you work at it and become a master of that profession.

It's all based on interpretation. If you do what you love your most likely going to be good at it. When your good at anything you can make money off of it. like he said any interest you have others will have. When something consumes time you can usually make money off of it. People will pay to learn something from someone who does it better or someone who can make something for them to save time.

Well it may help you to be forgiving if you can let that possibility come forth... I don't think how another chooses to act is under my jurisdiction to judge. Who I am to tell them how to be. If it upsets me, that's how I'm perceiving the situation. Looking with a kind open heart and some compassion instead of short dude and frustration will change how I feel and much more

Here is the cycle, ions ago this was the theory of life, to enjoy & learn, to just do what was needed to live & enjoy the day by day beauty the world had to offer, during this time a select few believed they required more from life & sought control over the simple & trusting, in order to gain more for themselves (greed) by doing so created ways to get control over the simple & trusting people (power) & the cycle continues to this very day... ya see its Ying & Yang & it will never be any different bc, we need each other to survive, Mr,Allen. points out the Ying & Yang in other lectures..this doesn't mean not to try to enjoy life, it just means there will always be a balance of good & evil....be well my friends,Bundlerun.

Pt.1) NOT SO that the music is "clearly" a distraction for ALL. For many, it is not even remotely distracting, but rather, ENHANCING their ability to align with who they REALLY are.Don't buy into everything you read (including these words) or hear. There is NOTHING to "learn" about one's Self, only to re-member. Some folks re-member BETTER with music like this, which I personally hear and FEEL as BEAUTIFUL. And no one NEEDS to have an intellectual understanding of what it is to be themselves.

If his speeches are like music, doesn't that mean playing music on top of his speeches is the same as playing two different songs at the same time? Its a clash that rarely works.

I'll upload another version with quieter music. And if you don't like music, all Alan Watts' lectures can be found online in their original state. Google is your friend...

I can hear him speak too - in background, with the music in foreground. If you had something important to say to someone would you turn the music up, so that they have a chance to also develop their concentration in the process? Do you think that making it a challenge would make the message you want to convey easier to get through?

'GaminWithArmeniaKB24', I believe this speech comes from a longer clip called 'What if money was not a problem'. Which lecture? I'm not sure.. Sorry?

Nvm, at least a portion of this lecture is posted under the name "What Do You Want"
Still looking for the full one that the segment is part of.
