This is an interlude song on a story album. This is like asking someone to react to Star Wars -- but only the scenes on Yavin as they discuss plans to attack the Death Star.

    The complete album is amazing.
The School Of Instant Pain, The Deadly Dream of Freedom and The Sweetest Sound Of Liberty are really good songs.

Triumvirat has only one great album called Illusions On A Double Dimple and it's brilliant. It's a concept like album Dark Side of The Moon so both sides flow from one song into the other. I've listened to the rest of their albums, a few gem songs, but mostly planetarium sounds. Mr. 10 Percent is their best. ✨️🎶✨️

for someone who knows prog rock of the pre 90's, say, who waited til 2024 to check out modern prog-rock, if i want to explore, all of Tool, where should i begin, and where should i not begin? If you answer my question correctly you win 10 points, so think about it, all you could buy with 10 points.

@@JustinPanariello but to be honest, the beginning i was expecting something more spacey like Yes with synths, but it sounded 90's american grungy-garage-creed genre for 3 or 4 minutes then there was the great drum avalanche, after that it was good.

It's fair to say that the only reason Triumvirat were able to tour the states was because they were riding ELP's coattails, which is why an album like this could chart. It's easy to forget from 2024 that ELP used to sell out stadiums on the scale of Led Zeppelin. Still, for fans of that kind of music 'Spartacus' is a solid album. Just as long as you're willing to look past the reference points (and there are many.) The main difference between this and ELP is the use of string synthesizers. In the mid 70's Keith Emerson adopted the Yamaha GX-1 (because he could afford to) while most other keyboard players went the string synth and/or Polymoog route. And I feel there are other songs from this album that Justin might have warmed to, like "The School of Instant Pain" or the title track, which are bit more Supertramp-ish. This is a much more transitional song within the flow of the music and the narrative.

When Dr J provides my ears with someone new, I jump to the middle. If I like it, I jump around the song. And then if it meets my “standards” I give it a full respectful listen.
This is music I should love……but it feels sophomoric. Or like the worst Steely Dan song you can find.❤
Like first 3 albums RHCP as opposed to anything post 1999.

I know there's a lot of haters, but when they came out, it was fresh and alive. I don't get the ELP comparison, I think they are thier own band😅

They definitely have much better songs than this, and I mean way better. The only one I can think of right now is The burning sword of Capua. Quite a fantastic instrumental.

The Earthquake 62 AD, great song, Dance on the Volcano, very good song, Vesuvius 79 AD my favorite song they did. These are from the Pompeii album with Curt Cress on drums and he is really good. The recording quality is better on this album too.

Awww that "something else ive heard" comment you made Justin is from the song "in the flesh"-pink floyd the wall,,,same chord progression anyhow...hey Chris, not everything that's obscure is good...I found this song boring as shit 😂,,,I can see how some of these prog bands don't make it big like ELP, or king crimson

I really shouldn't say this, but...they couldn't have been a key figure of anything, otherwise I would have heard of them. Maybe that's going too far, but I think I know 1970s krautrock. The track itself sucks. Somehow it reminded me of ELP's version of "Fanfare For the Common Man". Same strive for epicness.
