I for one are very happy with what is happening at our club now. Both of these guys are very capable and are the right age. Plus the fact we are in four competitions next season so some squad rotation will be needed. Portsmouth found that out the hard way a few seasons ago, but it would be nice to have a cup run! Good that we've moved a few players on and of course we now have a genuine 20 goal striker on the books! KRO

Thank you for your comment Chris. I’m pleased with these two goalkeeping additions. Both good quality and should push each other for the number 1 jersey.
Very pleased with Alfie May as well and hopefully we will also see further reinforcements of similar quality. KRO and kind regards (Gary)

The need of good goal keeper (or two) is a fundamental requirement for any team and where he comes from matters little except Irish opportunities are far less than foreign leagues for advancement. In fact benefiting his National cap from his exposure to such leagues other than his own.

Thank you for your comment John. I think Bailey's move to Blues will benefit him as well as the club and provide some much needed healthy competition for the No.1 jersey. I think Blues have done very well to get two goalkeepers of this level in league one and both can play out from the back. So, all round they are good signings. KRO and kind regards (Gary)

Both keepers for me are almost on equal footing and will be interesting who gets the number 1 shirt. I would say that we’ve saved a lot of money in wages compared to Ruddy and Etheridge. For me Allsop is the number one. KRO

Thank you for your comment Robbie. I agree with you, they are both good keepers and it’s great to have that at the club as they will push each other to get try to get nod. I also agree that Allsop will probably start as first choice but it will be interesting to see how this plays out during the season. KRO and kind regards (Gary)

Ruddy has defo gone to NewCastle to take up some coaching role when he retires. He would have been offered a very good wage and they probably are helping him get his coaching qualifications. I presume he would be helping their younger keepers develop whilst he's still a contracted player. Grateful for his service and he had the right attitude to be a Birmingham City Keeper! Unfortunately, he just isn't compatible with Davies' ball. Really excited to see Allsop and BPF battle it out for #1! Great vid as always lads, KRO.

I think you are right in that his contract with Newcastle probably includes a coaching role and help with his badges. Good luck to him, he was a good servant for his short time at Blues. KRO and kind regards (Gary)

Davies has a particular rapport with midfielders. He seems to be taking more care to get the right ones. I suspect the club will spend more per player on them.

Thank you for your comment. Emil Hansson has just been confirmed so I think you are right about midfielders. Either way I’m pleased with the quality of players we are bringing in and I’m really pleased with both goalkeeping additions. KRO and kind regards (Gary)

Ruddy wanted 1 last pay check ( probably on 30k a week or something decent ready for a pension pot )

Thank you for your comment Richard. I think you are right and I’m sure he moved to Newcastle for that reason. I thought he might want to get one or two years playing as many games as he can, which I can’t see happening at Newcastle. KRO and kind regards (Gary)

John Ruddy could be the new Scott Carson. He’ll prob be a player on the books for years and years and have an informal coaching role. Making up the English contingent for Newcastle so they can sign decent foreigners elsewhere. Young English goalkeepers can look forward to long careers!!

Thank you for your comment Kris. Funny enough Scott Carson can to my mind as well. I'd love to be there when Scott Carson's grand kids ask him about all of his premier league and his champions league medals. A bit of a let down when you have to tell them you were third choice! KRO and kind regards (Gary)

On Ruddy come on now.. you get the golden handshake to sit on your ass and watch front row premier league games all around the league and for probably largest contract he has ever had, where do i sign!....

Haha! This really made me laugh 🙂
Fair point. I know he would have been offered some serious money. No no-brainer to take it at his age to cash in.
What surprised me was that on the Fozcast, he said he wanted to continue playing, so it seemed odd to pick a team sitting on the bench.
      Very best, KRO!

For me the stats don’t really mean anything, he might of let 30 goals in last year, but 25 of them could’ve been top bins at 80mph that the best keepers in the world would struggle to deflect. Or it might’ve been the complete opposite and he’s just hopeless. Never know unless you’ve watched all his matches lol

Thank you for your comment. I made a similar comment in the podcast in that the goalkeeper can't be accountable for every goal conceded as the whole team have defensive responsibilities. Like all goalkeepers I am sure he will prone to the odd blooper/mistake however, I'm sure he will prove to be a solid addition to the squad. KRO and kind regard (Gary)
