Yeah, I look at my shelves full of series that I've been wanting to read then I look over at something else and go "hmmm, but I could read that again for the 6th time in the past year"
Even thought ive watched and read Naruto tooo many times to count, this video makes me want to actually collect the physicals and binge read it all over again
My top 3 re-reads: 1) 20th century boys. Fantastic story! I purchased the English versions in a big book store working in Tokyo and Nagoya Japan. The first series I ever purchased. When I reread that, I just fall in love with Japan and the story all over again and again. I would also visit the places where the plot took place in Tokyo. When I read it the first time. This will always hold a special place in my heart for that. 2) Slam Dunk because I get the feels of the 1990’s Chicago Bulls when I read it. Plus, it’s nostalgic and it’s my Japanese buddies favorite manga. We like to talk about it. 3) Berserk-My favorite story. Never been blown away reading a story in my life like that. The Golden Age ark and Berserk is sacred to me 😂
I am a huge believer in rereading and rewatching! Sometimes you just need to go back to something you know you are gonna love. I'm currently rereading a book trilogy for the 5th time and it brings me nothing but joy!
Your channel is like a series for me, I watch all of your videos until Im caught up and then wait for new videos, and then sometimes forget about the series, and the a couple months later I have 8 new episodes to binge watch
I will start by saying that I didn’t read manga as a kid, so I don’t have manga-specific series that are nostalgic to me because I read them as a kid. That being said - there are series/parts of series that I find myself either going back to read or thinking about long after I finished the series. There is something special about going back to a series that impacted you in one way or another. These examples I have may be a wee bit strange/not expected, but here we go - 1. Back in 2018, I stumbled upon the anime adaptation for the Citrus manga. It was one of those series that I found at the perfect time. I have dealt with issues with my father/not having a good relationship with him for a very long time, and it was really hitting me hard back when I found the Citrus anime. Turns out…. One of the main characters, Mei, had to deal with her father leaving her for years and then suddenly showing back up in her life, unannounced. Up to that point in my life, I don’t recall ever REALLY relating to any characters on a personal level, but this one was different. Seeing a pain that I felt being portrayed so well in this series was such a source of solace for me. I ended up sticking with the series mostly to see what happens with her and her father, but soon enough, I was just invested in the series as a whole. When I graduated university and got my first post-university job, I used one of my first paychecks to buy the Citrus manga. I have gone back to read the series once or twice at this point, and it is still very special to me. I am very glad I found the series when I did. 2. A few years ago, I moved into my own place for the first time. And for some reason, I decided to tackle the Domestic Girlfriend manga. It was an absolute roller coaster of a series, with so many ups and downs. But, there are certain portions of the series that deal with issues (an example being - having someone close to you being addicted to drugs) in such a real way that it was almost hard for me to read those portions of the story. Seeing issues that I had experienced portrayed so well in this story was not something I expected to see… Since finishing the series, I have gone back to read specific chapters. I have not reread the series yet, but I may do that one day. No matter what the series is, it is a special thing when you find a story that leaves an impact on you. While it is good to go and experience new stories, I definitely see the appeal in going back to reread stories that have a special place in your heart.
Thank you for such a thoughtful comment, I haven’t heard of Citrus but it is definitely something now that I have read your connection with it, that I have added to the list to check out. It is funny how depending on where we are at in life a series might really connect with us or we might bounce off that is another interesting thing that happens when you go back and give a series a second chance and it is the right time and you do a complete 180 on it and becomes something special, I love when that happens
@@DanielPeppers You’re welcome! Yeah - the Citrus manga is not a series that I see getting recommended or talked about a lot, but being able to read a series that portrayed father issues that hit so close to home for me… yeah - Citrus will always have a special place in my heart. And I agree - sometimes you just need to give a series a chance at the right time in your life for it to really suck you in or make an impact on you :)
Jojo’s is my absolute favorite anime/manga series. I watched Part 3 years ago, and yet I still think about how good it is. I’ve rewatched and am reading the part through the manga rn, it hasn’t lost that spark that made anime something I was interested in the first place
I've only been into manga and light novels for a little over a year so my ¨nostalgic¨ series that got me into the hobby aren't stories from my childhood, but absolutely I already also re-read the ones that started it for me. Do I want to read this new story that a friend recommended? Yes of course. But do I also prioritize booking out 2 weeks to re-read all the novels of Bunny Girl Senpai every time a new volume comes out? Hell yeah I do 😂 But that's a bit different since it's still going. Re-reading completed series that you've read a while ago and remembering why you fell in love with it in the first place and having that wave of emotions come back to you... man there's nothing like it.
I remember watching the Bunny Girl Senpai anime some years ago and absolutely loving it. I have gone back to rewatch the anime a few times now, but I really need to check out the light novels! I always love seeing the extra details and inner thoughts that a book explores.
@@jz-meister5343Oh man, not only that but the novels that happen after the main series are the peak of the series (the ones the new movies that aren't out in the west yet adapt). You're in for a treat if you check em out!
I adore Yu-Gi-Oh, it might not be the best series, a solid 8 for me but I've rewatched the anime countless times when I was younger and even now and I've been rereading the manga end of last year to the beginning of this year and I'm just having so much fun revisiting this series 😊

Comfort manga is like comfort food. It may not be the classiest or have the best reputation but it sure does make you feel good.
