School festival arc is the first time Deku realized Villains could be approached in a different way and could be understood,it kinda breaks the ideal he had of heroes and sparks a change from that point of view,it's a pretty important to me considering later arcs.
The school festival arc is a great arc and a lot of people miss the message and importance of it - that while they saved Eri's body, her heart also needed to be saved, and that's what this arc was about. It was about saving the child's heart, helping the kids learn to live with the hard moments of heroing (and reminding them that good times will come after the bad), building the stage for Gentle to exist on and for the rest of the story to build off and grow from. A lot of things that are mentioned in this arc are built on to create the situations going forward. Gentle is who Deku could have been if he hadn't gotten the chance to be a hero, and shows that no matter how much of a fuck-up you are, if you keep trying and doing your best, you can find a way forward to follow your dream.
This! Also, I really love the exam part with bakugou and todoroki and others because not only do we get to see those 2 interact a lot, which is very fun, the whole group makes for a hilarious dynamic. And the way they deal with the kids tells you a lot about them. There's some great growth and unexpected insight from both bkg and endeavor. I realised how closely Bakugou was watching Shoto and his interactions with Enji in this arc. It is very interesting when you consider future arcs.
1:07:37 I understand that people have opinions but I genuinely cannot wrap my head around all the constant hate this arc gets. We have spent so much time in this series so far and more later establishing the importance of smiles and laughter in this world. We just had a guy go out echoing this sentiment. This is the last arc in which they are truly free to be happy-go-lucky as kids should be and on top of that, they spend this arc actually putting it into practice. Yeah, they rescued Eri from the yakuza but they didn't save her and that is what this arc is trying to put forward. Please someone reply with some response about this because, despite all I try, I can't see the other viewpoint here.
The “Heh Izuku, can I still catch up to you?” absolutely BROKE ME 😭 I hated in mha for 5 years, then finally decided to watch it to hate on it. It’s been a little over a month and MAN this show is SO good,,,
Bell peppers! My hero academia is my personal favourite manga. The way that Horikoshi-sensei is able to redeem and make you empathize with characters that you may typically write off as one dimensional; it’s incredible. Not to mention his art is beyond incredible especially toward the end of the series. Your video was awesome! I’m glad you gave it another chance! How are you feeling about the series now? I would love to hear about where you rank it amongst other series!
That is so awesome! Thanks for watching the video and for you know….Bell Peppers 🤣 🤣 Yeah I think what has stuck with me the most was the art just because I hadn’t heard too much about it and then to see some of those panels Ranking it right now would be tough just because I’m still pretty hyped up from the read through, but I can say it has definitely jumped from where it was sitting before I did this video.
Bell pepper, I'm glad you liked the series. I know the meme of "jus put the fries in the bag deku"/deku is washed is big right now, (probably from all the mainstream haters of mha who haven't actually read it, tuned in for the final chapter, and then started making jokes about it) But I'm glad you could see the value in the ending. Deku's true power all along wasn't one for all, it was heroic spirit. It's shoved in your face in chapter ONE. Really nice video, it was a good thing to watch while I was drawing.
Can’t believe a video that you put so much hard work into only has 29 likes. Even though it’s only been five hours, it’s amazing. I personally haven’t finished watching the anime, but I have finished the manga. It’s my favorite by far. It’s been a few years since I’ve watched any mha content, but when this video came up on my fyp, I feel like it’s kind of reawakened my love of this series. Thank you for this. Going to watch it right now, and I’ll check out the mangas from the library again next time I go.
I really appreciate it, thanks for checking out the video, I’m really glad I have the series another shot, it was a lot of work putting this together but super glad I did it
I think that the fight with Gentle was incredibly important to Dekus character, much like Stain it showed us and Deku that not all villains are the same, Stain had the right understanding of whats wrong with society and Deku and his friends (and eventually more people) realized that but they also understood that while he had the right idea the execution was wrong. When it came to Gentle it showed us that not all villain are inherently bad people, sometimes theyre just people in bad situations. Deku saying that Gentle was the hardest villain for him to fight because he understood what he was saying and understood that he couldve ended up the same was so important. While I understand the arc itself might’ve not been everyones cup of tea and it might seem fillerish (which i totally get it does feel fillery) it was crucial to the rest of the story to the way Deku truly tried to save everyone, learning that theres more than one way to save people because he knew that something had to happen to have them turn out the way they did to Gentle and La Brava being a big part of the fight, i don’t think it deserves the slander it often gets. Also personally I really enjoyed the festival arc!! It was nice to see them really enjoying themselves and truly being kids one last time! Although i may be a bit biased seeing how i love slice of life mangas lol!! Bell peppers
I think the Todoroki family arc might be one of the most realistic depictions of an abusive household in any show I've watched. Not just anime. It's not perfect or anything, like I think Endeavor might be my least favorite in the series due to how oddly-handled his atonement is, but still I admire what Horikoshi tried to do with him, and the rest of the family feels super real. That's the thing with My Hero, while it has its problems, it's become one of my favorite shows ever in recent memory.
hey dude, i just wanted to thank you for getting me into naruto, i watched your review before starting it and your words describing the it and its impact made me pick it up at an time in my life where i realy needed an reminder to never give up on my dreams!
I really appreciate that, I’m really happy it connected with you, and if you need another reminder, I’m going to say “ NEVER give up on your dreams” I think a dream is one of the most important things we can have and I am wishing you success in achieving them
this was such a wonderful review of this series. many of your thoughts are very similar to mine and it's pretty cool seeing them shared within a space like this. thank you for making this, it feels like i've read this for the first time again! bell peppers.
Bell Peppers. You did it, you went beyond PLUS ULTRA!!! A thing I love about the series is, there are so many different characters who could have been the MC Dabi, Shiggy, Bakugo, Endeavor, Shoto, Etc.. So many great Characters and Mini Stories. Stain/Ida, Todoroki Family, Twice/Toga, Red Riot, Etc.. I'm glad you gave it a 2nd chance.
Might you want to check out Vigilantes, too? It's set in the same universe as MHA, years before, focussing on a group of Vigilantes. You get to see more various heroes and different character cameos - pre-Stain-stain, for example, and teen Mirko, etc.
How do you feel about gentle and la brava after they showed back up? How do you feel about the toga and ochako arc and how it ended with ochako revamping quirk consoling? How do you feel about spinner and the heteromorph plotline?
I completely agree, honestly the Todoroki family is one of the best families written in anime (that I’ve watched so far). I didn’t like Endeavor at first, I just saw him as the abusive annoying father who just happened to become number one as a result of All Might’s retirement but Horikoshi genuinely surprised me. He is by far the most complex character in the show, because on one hand he’s done terrible things to Shoto, his wife Rei but I never would’ve thought he’d actually acknowledged he’s made mistakes and then to go actively ATONE for his mistakes and never ask forgiveness from his family. It’s like every time I have this image of a certain character that I think will stay the same for the rest of the manga Horikoshi comes and says “actually no there’s also this aspect I want you to understand about them” and it makes think again. This is also why I think Bakugou is such a popular character in both the manga and show.
Wow, I'm late! Anyways this is a wonderful video and it really has some amazing points. I think this is one of the first times I've actually seen someone point out all of the messages of MHA and how they are portrayed. You clearly poured a tremendous amount of work into this so therefore it deserves far more praise than it is getting.
Funny how a lot of fans went from hating on the school elements and arcs(school festival and joint training) to missing and asking for more when the series ends. They get what they want but still don't feel happy.
There is a Battle Shounen Manga Called MHA Vigilantes, Its a Spin off story that follows Different Characters and has only 126 chapters , I would love for you to make a Video on it Since its getting Adapted into an Anime soon and its a fantastic Journey
bell peppers! Thanks for making this, had a super enjoyable time. I also dropped mha back in season 4 and then picked it back up after I heard it was ending soon, was fun experiencing everything I was feeling a second time with you!!
(Bell Peppers) I also really liked this series, MHA got me into reading Manga and comics again after not doing it for years and I think the messages of the story are good especially for the target audience. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I also wouldn't mind a sequel series or collection of short stories in the new world or heroes. Also I'm curious if you have seen the movies and what your thoughts on those are.
When I was younger, I loved MHA. Thennnn I fell out of it. Over the last year, I bought the box set then vols. 21-31 but never read past where I stopped, which was vol. 28. I say all that to say this: this video has gotten me back into MHA and excited to pick up the remaining volumes that are released
Bell peppers~ it was great to see the opinion of someone who read the series in one go. Glad to see that you enjoyed yourself. I've been following the manga for at least 6 years, so with all the theorising and expectations found myself unsatisfied about the ending at first. Sitting on it helped me decide that I do like it, and it would've been a perfect ending to me if Toga and Kurogiri's ends werent so abrupt. In a series where people survived some insane shit, I still can't understand how they died lol. This series will never the less have a special place in my heart. When you were going through character resolutions to review, I also wished to hear your thoughts about Ochako, as she was part of the trio through which the saving villains plot was being told.
I remember starting the series, it was my very first anime and is the entire reason I started getting into manga and anime. I’ve been in and out of the fandom since 2021 and I’ve enjoyed all of it. It’s my favorite series of all time, and has my personal favorite character(All for one). It’s an amazing series from beginning to end, and has impacted manga and anime history in a massive way, and paved the way for other manga’s like JJK.
Yeah I felt bad the more I have sat with the series there is a bunch of things I wish I would of said about characters, but I’m thinking about doing dedicated vids on certain story things in the future, and Toga and Ochako story is definitely one of them
I loved the anime, got a TINY lick, A SINGLE PAGE of the manga, immediantly switched to manga and watched as the anime looked more and more bland or muted looking.
I remember just starting MHA and thinking Bakugo would be my fav character. But then, he's just so angry all the time lol. Like why so mad bro, at least Vegeta I understood and it's not like he was mad all the time. Bakugo reminds me more of Kylo Ren, another character I found disappointing because of his uncontrolled anger and like tantrums. Maybe Bakugo gets better later, but I remember being so primed to love him only not to. To be air I did drop MHA pretty quickly, not sure why I just wasn't connecting to it. I'm pretty excited to finish watching your video to see where it goes.
i’m biased because i honestly have always liked bakugou, but i think his character development is extremely worth reading/watching through. his anger is very satirical and unserious early on, which is kinda to be expected because he’s basically a teenaged vegeta LOL like vegeta (who was also my favorite lol), while he does calm down, his personality doesn’t change even after his massive character development which I appreciate a lot. if you ever have time, i’d continue mha
@ the diff is I never expected to like Vegeta to the point he would be my fav character and his backstory makes his mass murdering ways make more sense right off the bat. 😉
I assume you haven't seen season 6 and rn season 7, I suggest you see the season 6 episode 3, 9 and 11 ending song, they did it visually different. Also, I really did like season 6 and 7, they are doing it really well. The animation may not be a sakuga fest but it has good animation in many cases. I do enjoy the manga more though because of the artwork. It is incredible, especially towards the final arc
I must say - growing up, I didn’t care much for bell peppers, but… I have come around to them (kind of like how you came around to liking Bakugo during this video) 🤣 Anyway - MHA finally ending is so wild to me. I got into the series with the anime, and I watched up through season four (Overhaul/School Festival arcs) before I caved and started the manga from that point. Overall, I really enjoyed the story. I really like what Horikoshi did with Deku and Shigaraki, as well as showing us how Deku’s actions impacted society as a whole. I was so confused when a new villain was introduced in the epilogue, but I LOVE that the same woman who disregarded young Shigaraki ended up saving this new troubled person. That really hits home with the “anyone can help others and be a hero” message that the story has. I will definitely miss reading MHA each Sunday, but it was a fun ride while it lasted. :) This was such a cool video to watch, and any time you mentioned how late it was and that you were going to ruin the following day by staying up too late reading… that was so relatable 🤣 I have done that more times than I would like to admit.
Glad you enjoyed Ny Hero Academia. I’m gonna be honest. The hype for my hero academia die down for me. In the beginning it was great but somewhere it just didn’t had the hype I had before. Especially the war. It wasn’t bad it just didn’t live up as I expected but it was okay. In the beginning I give My Hero Academia an 8 but I have to go to a 6. I’m sorry to anyone offended or disagree with me but the hype just wasn’t there for me. If you like it that’s good. I still like it. It just lost the hype I had. By the way Awesome Editing for this Video! 👍
The Armored All Might arc was literally my favorite arc in the franchise, including the movies, prequel & spinoffs. All his attacks are named after his students with the final attack named after young Aoyama who was the traitor. AND HE TEAMED UP WITH STAIN! STAINNNN! & he died! How did you not think this was the highlight?!
You literally said you watched up to season 4 yet deny knowing Bakugo’s growth which was at the end of season 3. I swear, MHA critics never seem to remember the plot of the thing they are criticizing. & you DON’T REMEMBER ALL FOR ONE?!?! The man pulling the strings? The main antagonist of the franchise in both the prequel series Vigilantes & main series?!
That’s fair, my only defense on this is that it has been over 5 years since I have even really thought about MHA, I will say when I got to certain parts it unlocked memories of like “ OH Yeah that did happen” when I got to certain parts in the manga.
@@DanielPeppersalso, I feel like the Festival & Remedial Course arcs were fantastic & crucial for Bakugo, Todoroki & Eri’s development. Eri needed to get out of that horrible headspace & Bakugo & Todoroki needed to catch up to their classmates so that they could officially do hero work. It all set up for the war Arc ahead. & Gentle & Labrava represent the comedic silver age comic villains. The humorous villain & his small obedient sidekick. They are my favorite villains in the series.
Thank you! I had not really heard much about Vigilantes, but a couple of comments on this video, have mentioned it, so I definitely plan to check it out

Great video my dude.
Bell peppers, incredible video, thank you!
I really wished you talked about Ochako more. Her fight against toga is so impactful to the story 🥲

Amazing video as always❤️
I loved the anime, got a TINY lick, A SINGLE PAGE of the manga, immediantly switched to manga and watched as the anime looked more and more bland or muted looking.
I remember just starting MHA and thinking Bakugo would be my fav character. But then, he's just so angry all the time lol. His anger is part of his character development and you do find out why he's so mad at Deku later on. He's a personal favorite for me.
i’m biased because i honestly have always liked bakugou, but i think his character development is extremely worth reading/watching through. his anger is very satirical and unserious early on, which is kinda to be expected because he’s basically a teenaged vegeta LOL
like vegeta (who was also my favorite lol), while he does calm down, his personality doesn’t change even after his massive character development which I appreciate a lot. if you ever have time, i’d continue mha
Glad I’m not the only one 😂
Vegeta was literally worse lol. Bro was a mass murderer
@ the diff is I never expected to like Vegeta to the point he would be my fav character and his backstory makes his mass murdering ways make more sense right off the bat. 😉
Bell peppers 😂
I just finished the manga today, you encouraged me to read the last 30 chapters in one sitting
Bell Peppers! This was fun! Took me 3 days to find time to watch it all but now I have the desire to go read MHA. Thanks

That really hits home with the “anyone can help others and be a hero” message that the story has. I will definitely miss reading MHA each Sunday, but it was a fun ride while it lasted. :)
This was such a cool video to watch, and any time you mentioned how late it was and that you were going to ruin the following day by staying up too late reading… that was so relatable 🤣 I have done that more times than I would like to admit.
Season 5 episode 8 has a cool sakuga moment for Iida right in the beginning of the episode
You might wanna check out NinjartisticNinja, he makes MMV of the manga for many shows especially mha. He's incredible
I really hope he continues it - even if he goes the Boruto route and only writes it and has someone else do the art.
Bell peppers really connects with my hero academia
Gentle arc is really good it's sad you didn't like it
If the author makes more later and just calls it My Hero that'd be pretty cool. bell peppers
I sure do love me some BELL PEPPERS 🫑
Oh and bell peppers!!!!
Pronouncing Deku’s name like Dayku the whole video make me tweak
manga does not have filler by definition, lmao
Dep will come to you house if you don’t like
The Armored All Might arc was literally my favorite arc in the franchise, including the movies, prequel & spinoffs. All his attacks are named after his students with the final attack named after young Aoyama who was the traitor. AND HE TEAMED UP WITH STAIN! STAINNNN! & he died! How did you not think this was the highlight?!
Bell peppers
Read mob psycho next
Bell Peppers
:(
Awesome review! I basically agree with everything! Will you read vigilantes too?
🫑
Thank you! I had not really heard much about Vigilantes, but a couple of comments on this video, have mentioned it, so I definitely plan to check it out
