I love that line. “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at, change. 🙂
Come on Elizabeth. Worried about public showers but handling that pump out hose with no gloves.. The show must go on. Lol. You have some very polite dogs...I don't think I've ever heard them bark. Exciting project
Good luck with your new Landcruiser :)
I’m sure the pups 🐶 will enjoy the stay. The ship looks amazing.
20:58 Freedom is such a beauty. The no-flybridge really suits most Nordhavns.
Boat looked good coming out of the water, the in between scrubbing really works.
Amazed at how clean the hull is. Haulouts I found is where all those "Friends" that loved to go cruising with you, suddenly were to busy to help.
The friends that go cruseing with him need to duct tape a brush to their tails and remove those barnacles with tail power. He dives , I'm sure if he scrapes the barnies when they are small. Keep them from getting big. It only takes two weeks and they're growing again. Ov course you know the reason Hillary Clinton quit wearing dresses.
Because you could see the no pest strips and odor eater dangling between her knees. True story !
@@wesleymonske8103 you're a sick pup
Just watched you again!! You're so funny. YOU GAVE ME A LIFE-SAVING JOURNEY!! I have been through Four Major Surgeries in the last 18 months, and with each recovery period, I would look forward to where the four of you would take me! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your personal journey. It really matters in this crazy world, with so much anger and fear, that you all give us HOPE and a sense of family. With you, we are reminded that the world has beautiful places, wonderful people, and fuzzy friends to love and enjoy.
Your videos matter, and more importantly, you matter!!!
Love how you keep boat ownership real. The good and the maintenance.
Nice job Sean on the bow thruster! 👍👍👌👌
When your title goes from Gilligan to Skipper, the video gets an update! Congrats!
Great Vid guys. You take such good care of your home...We love watching your sunday vids.
Sleeping on the boat on the hard... we call that ghetto camping. It can be kinda fun.. Good luck with the chores!
Now that I've seen Freedom's hull, I like these boats even more. Keep up the good work! Hope the heat was bearable for you guys, but then, it gave you a chance to dust off your mid-western superpowers of heat tolerance.
You cant dump because the waters in the Pugent sound move very slowly and sometimes not at all. This allows untreated waste to sit and pollute. You meant to say "YEAH! Great job Seattle for protecting the waters of the sound, the salmon runs and our Puget Sound from lazy people who don't want to pay to treat their own waste. "
It's 5:22 a.m., and another great post from y'all. Yay!
Did you hear that a fishing boat sank just off Orcas Island with 2,600 gallons of fuel on board?
Praying for the marine wildlife and success for clean-up teams.
⚘ 🙏 ⚘
Very productive day, thanks for taking us along!
Well done, it's so refreshing to see all that funk being cleaned off the bottom, I bet you were very excited about that Shawn!
Yes, agree totally with the experience of watching a large boat hanging mid-air from some large straps. UA-cam has a good amount of clips where the boat didn't complete the trip.
Hope your haul out repairs and paint went smoothly.
Since u deemed yourself a captain Elizabeth your doggos deserve a co-captain rating at least a swabby
Watching the necessary work to maintain your beautiful boat is amazing - can appreciate the anxiety in achieving end results - so enjoy following your videos and adventures- Thanx for sharing 👍
You guys make the most tiresome part of yachting interesting. Great editing as usual! Thank you for sharing!
Good luck on getting all the work done.. Hope it all goes well and you are all back on the blue soon!! Stay safe Freedom crew!! 👍👍
I always felt uneasy when on the hard as well. Your brain says you are feeling movement but of course you are not moving...or are you?...Love your boat and the awesome way you two take care of it and your cute dogs too.
The anxious boat owners,a common sight at a boat yard.
2:00 lol I was thinking paying the bill...
The facilities look nice. However, when we are on an RV trip, I do not use pub rest.
Love it... Technical terms, "Somethin, somethin on the back..." Now I understand. :). Weird, but I enjoy the time spent watching mechanical progress on the hard almost as much as cruising time on the water. Said I was weird!
After seeing your Instagram posts on the haul out, this episode was highly anticipated. Can't wait to see more about your week on the hard!
Ours has gone through several hurricanes on blocks and stands and survived unscathed, but it is a weird feeling to be on board her when she's blocked.
Your evening news comments, among others, had me laughing out loud. Thanks!
We have had our 42 Foot Sailboat since 2000 and have done maybe 7 Haulout's all in Hawaii. We generally get about 3 years out of the new bottom paint. We bought our sailboat out of the same marina you are in and sailed her to HI
An interesting video, you 2 really don't skimp on the maintenance of Freedom. That's nice to see. A truly qualified captain (NO PUN INTENDED)
Like many, I also dislike public bathrooms, so I carry a spray bottle with 20% javel bleach to 80% water and my own paper towel, yep, it works. scary to have one's boat on the hard, well worth it once the work is done.
Awesome show thank you!
Great overview. Ty!
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! I BELIEVE YOU REALLY LET US INSIDE YOUR TRUE EMOTIONS ABOUT THINGS WHICH IS REFRESHING.
Wow! That hull really looks clean
Elisabeth, It is after all the Port of SEATTLE. they do have an image to uphold and that marina has always been a pretty nice place. I never used it but cruised by it many times and used their ramp adjacent many many times.
Thank you guys for haulout...
Nicely done great pacing and a fun story keep up the good work.
Always love the Nordhavn design
I have to laugh, three strong men to get two little dogs off the boat and they all let the Queen fend for herself..
They are the most important crew!
The Queen is quite able. Lol
Good job you two
I wish boat yards were as nice and clean as those were we are. You actually have real public restrooms instead of porta potties!!
That's a clean haulout, good maintenance Shawn
Great job folks! In 2007 we hauled out our Nordhavn 40 in the Seattle area. The yard was so proud they had just installed new, I think $2000, straps on the lift. The boat was not marked with lift points but I offered the operator side photos from a previous haulout. He said he didn't need them and proceeded to set one strap right through the stabilizer line cutters. Expensive mistake. All went well otherwise.
Some of the public facilities are maintained to a very high degree from bacteria to stopping covid and other problems.
You picked the perfect music score for this episode. It must be odd when your inner ear expects motion and there is none, but then every day on a boat is some sort of adventure ….. P.S. my Mrs. would dread using the public loo and public shower. Motel 8 anyone?
Send more video's you two are awesome to watch
15:16 a 55+ year old Corvair Greenbriar van. Rare even when new. Chevy made a truck version, too.
I really am disappointed to not see any Packers stuff need some green and yellow love GO PACK GO!
great edit and music vibes.
Nice job. Happy birthday to Mr. Sully! At 22,000 lbs, we didn't rate boarding stairs. just the ladder that I brought with me. Is that a perk that the yard offers to everyone or just those with their own UA-cam channel? indeed, it's a weird feeling being ~18 feet up in the air with no wave action. Next week- splashdown!
Ah the hard! It sure is weird. We had our boat out last November for 1.5 weeks, having all the stern gear serviced.
15:16 Corvair van. Nice.
very well done vid!
Atta boy, Shawn! You got Elizabeth on the "hard"...
Very interested in the selection process of the paint Shaun chose.
Learn a lot from watching you guys. When I lived in Seattle I never knew all the work that goes into these beautiful boats. BTW, going to Friday Harbor from Phoenix on October 1st to propose to me girlfriend!
You HAVE to take her on a Susie’s moped or scooter to the lighthouse. If you haven’t seen our recent video of that trip go watch!!! Perfect place for proposals and wine tasting afterwards.
@@mvfreedom Thank You!
“Boats are made to float”. Enough said.
Local paper said nearby airport has complained of numerous missing boarding/de boarding rolling stairs ? 🤥. 30+ tons on little mini pallets? 😳🤭🥴. Marina ENGINEER better have an escape hatch. 😂. Can empathize with your thinking; “Our home is resting on two straps that don’t look exactly fresh out of the package. 😳” .. Totally agree, a stressful week. That goodness you’re not here in SoCal, earthquakes.
interesting video thank you
If you have difficult problems with your Nordhaven James Knight who founded Yacht Tech moved permanently from Florida to Anacortes. He is a well known Nordhaven maintenance man. Those haul outs expensive in addition to the work done during haul out. Glad one of you is mechanically minded.
Alright Elizabeth I have always thought you were tougher than that. Suck it up Buttercup. All is well.
I wish you well for the week on land!
Out & Back in it’s home environment 😎⚓️😎
Your channel is really needed and hits an on trend space. You are gorgeous, he is like the Marvel Engineer. Knows his sh*&. Believable, authoritative, like Jason Segals nerdy brother )) Serious you guys nail it, good editing, B roll, VO, music choices making Seattle look positively dry and sunny-- you know like...metaphorically of course. Ok time to start cruising soon... Get a Bering 77 and nerd out for us in the Marquesas.
The Dock Crew seemed very friendly.
They were amazing, we were really happy with the team at Seaview.
I am always amazed when the crew of sailing mega yacht sits at the windward rail as if their weight will make any deference in how much the 50+ ton yacht will heal. Sort of same - how much does moving your less than 150 pounds will stress the balance of your boat. On the other hand, 70-100 mph hour wind can stress the balance. That’s why the chain the struts together.
While it kinda stinks the weather is better while your “on the hard,” Rainy weather is not conducive for painting. Best of luck!
Excellent
great video guys 👏👌
Yes First time is a trip!
Great job Sean on replacing bow thruster, not such an easy job sometimes. I can’t believe how clean the bottom looked after the haul out. The area you guys cruise in, is it all salt water or a mix of fresh? Probably a dumb question. Ps. Was your main prop new or did you guys just get it refurbished? Another great video. Thank you!
Watching the haul-out…. She’s a beauty! Very clean! All of Shawn’s meticulous maintenance shows. I agree with you that the whole dry dock experience is a little unnerving…. Boats are meant to float in water!
Future video idea…. What is it like at night out at an open anchorage? I am from Michigan, so all of my boating experience is on the Great Lakes. The wildlife, weather, etc is extremely different in the PNW. Just curious. Your videos have me intrigued about the area you live. It is beautiful.
It’s very peaceful and non eventful…lots of stars!
Love it.
I feel your anxiety about walking around the boat while on blocks. My boat weighs much less, and I weigh much more. Still what we know differs from what we feel !
Had to laugh at the wax on/wax off comment. That was a family joke for the sunglasses off and on while going through the snow sheds on the Roger's Pass!
Funny, our Seaview haulout was a mirror video of yours! Climbing out onto the bow to that deathtrap ladder...no thanks. I refused to climb on the same way.
It's probably because you used to your sea legs living on the boat. I know when I worked for a company in Sarasota in the ship division refinishing teak decks it felt strange getting off after 2 or 3 weeks on the ship.
Lekker man lekker 🇿🇦
NICE
Not a bad TAN for the PNW ! Shh don’t tell anyone 🤫 LOL
Anacortes, Wa.
Facing your phobia for public restrooms "Head On" has some inherent risks ;)
Nice one ☺️
I also was freaked out being on our boat in the hard. It was windy so the boat would move and I’d have to convince myself we were going to be fine! But we survived for another year…
Nice
Seattle only gets 2 weeks of nice sunny weather a year, so your kind of out of luck for this year. 🙃
It's not in your head... remember you feel the water up and down side to side so being still is weird for sure.... good news yall will get a ton done... oooo tell Shawn the boat in good shape really it is... 3 great boats nord.. ber.. hatter... Best 3 top boats
That was your keel cooler not a stabilizer cooler. That is what allows you to have a dry exhaust.
We have a keel cooler as well.
First time viewer. Enjoyed your video. I hope you are not ready to rock, not yet anyway.
Go to Victoria and have some tea and crumpets . It's just like going to England.
Bouchard Gardens is the best in spring or summer . A giant rose garden where you take a ride in a horse drawn carrige just like Cinderella but it won't turn into a pumpkin. Ha Ha . They also have a McDonalds that takes dollars .It has a miniature world that is the Rail Road from coast to coast in Canada 🇨🇦.
It has every town and lake ,plus people the size of raisins. They also have a wax museum. The finger prints on process di boob are from me. I did a napoleon with me and my hand in her shirt. It melted and just know that the wax melts at body temperature. I got a great picture but did I get yelled at Holly cow. I could have gone to prison or worse. Have to say aye after everything.Too much fun.
No no !
Don’t leave poop in Canadian waters !
🇨🇦 cheers guy’s, lol.
🤘🏽
I like the haul-out… from the point of view of seeing the bottom
I can‘t imagine the marina bath house is that bad. It‘s probably not shared with guys from the dry dock.
You can buy onboard treatment centers .....that allow you to pump out without pollution.
In a designated No Discharge Zone,, I don't believe you can even pump out a Type I MSD. NDZs mean just that: NO DISCHARGE. I expect Freedom has a Type III which is just a poo tank.
I’m guessing you can only have xx amount of fuel onboard when you haul out?
I FEEL YEA!!!! NOT USING A PUBLIC RESTROOM NOT NOT HAPPENING PERIOD!!! NOW FOR THE OLD NUMBER 1 easy woods lol sorry ladies it's easier for us men.. not fair
So if you pump out on the Canadian side of the international line and it floats over to the US side in Puget sound do you need a green card or passport for the poop? Does it become debris as it does from the tsunami of Japan? Do you have to file amnesty for the poop that floats over to the US side?
if you look at a larger map you'll see that the canadian gulf exits back into the pacific ocean north of vancouver island, so the tides tend to keep that area well flushed out, unlike the inland waters of western washington which are dead-ended in the south, and every major city or town in washington discharges it's treated sewage into the inland waters. if washington state had it's way it would ban overboard dumping all the way to the entrance of the straight of juan de fuca, but due to international boundaries all it can do is ban dumping in legal us waters.
It looks like you have fin stabilizers, so why do you also use the flipper stopper?
Fin stabilization doesn’t work while anchored, so the flopper stopper helps with that.
