The DDS slander is real! For those that do not know. DDS was printed in very low quantities due to the game having to be pre ordered. We are talking quantities similar to 1st ed LOB. While SDY has way more printings. It should definitely be lob>dds>sdy
Bro this is definately something we would like to keep seeing and also the hobby needs. From a casual, collector or investor prospective you explain not only the lore but the scarcity, price and community input these cards have which make it easy to know what to buy. Videos on blue eyes, red eyes and even time wizard would be amazing as each fit a good description and story to be told. As always thank you and great video
Thank you Strictly! As many others are saying, this is an amazing idea for a series. I've always looked for comprehensive lists of rarities and alt artworks for certain cards, and you've done a fantastic job here (no surprise). Keep up the hard work. You're videos keep us old school collectors interested, while introducing newer collectors to some awesome cards. We all appreciate it!
Yes absolutely do more of these! This is interesting, informative and can absolutely be a helpful guide for anyone looking to collect very specific yugioh cards.
Yes, please continue!!! Blue eyes and red eyes next please! Loved the video and it was exactly what I was looking for! Your channel is my favorite for Yugioh content and has helped get me back into collecting 🎉
I love how much detail you put into your videos when it comes to history and an experienced collector's perspective on value and collectability. It's crazy how just 1 ace monster can have so much collectability behind it. I would love to see a red eyes one because it's by far my favorite monster in ygo. Keep up the amazing videos!
As a Dark Magician collector this video speaks volume to me about my expensive collection. I only collect dark magician cards released in the tcg. I own playsets of almost every dark magician cards released in the tcg (even the expensive ones such as DDS, RP01, 1st edition SDY, both BPT, Both Jump promos, etc), and all are near mint to mint condition. Right now I’m looking for a playset of LOB 1st edition Dark Magician near mint copies
Thanks for the reply. I might consider making a video but right now I’m still looking for more dark magician related cards. I might consider doing a video once a get a good camera
I’m starting my first ever dark magician collected as an OG fan who’s been inspired by these types of videos. My only issue is whether I should only collect dark magician cards with or without a PSA grading? Would really love some input as I’m really keen on getting started!
@jafarali1766 well it really depends on your budget. If you really want look for very high end copies of dark magician such as DDS or 1st edition North American SDY prints are extremely popular in terms of collectibility. You’ll have to be very cautious of buying those prints because finding a near mint condition will be difficult to find. I don’t know what is your budget but they’re also other alternatives if you don’t want to spend too much money
Great stuff, videos on these nostalgic cards/artwork will always get a watch from me and interesting to see some I wasn't aware of as a returning collector 👍
Absolutely loved this! I'm a massive Dark Magician fan and collector and this gave me some insight as to what versions are more collectible. I would love to see vids like this for DMG, DMOC and the rest of the Dark Magician family and of course for Blue-Eyes
Saved this video to my favorites! Just made me fall in love with my Dark Magician collection again. I have a lot of the heavy hitters but I didn't realize how many reprint variants there were
My friend is a sneakerhead and got the Yugi x Adidas collab and ended up selling me the card for like 20 bucks because he knows I collect. In person, that card is absolutely gorgeous. Konami really knocked it out of the park with this one. Great video like always SS, keep up the great work
This collector’s guide series is awesome! I’d love to see more, please! Especially Blue-Eyes as I am a Blue-Eyes collector myself. Still trying I get a Pharaoh Rare Blue-Eyes. Haha.
Wow! Thanks for making this video! It's amazing. I would love to see Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Dark Magician Girl, and Red Eyes Black Dragon guides as well.
Man this is such a cool video, while watching I was going through my collection of DM to see if I have the right ones. you should do all the monster that has more then 2 art work would be cool to watch.
Definitely think this is a series to keep, I mean the next two episodes write themselves blues and red eyes then you can ark out. I just went and bought like 5 dark magicians so I thank you 😂 great vid!
The JMPS-EN003 version of Dark Magician is actually the rarer version for the Kazuki Takahashi art work despite being a reprint. They were made in a smaller set than the JUMP version. It typically goes for more $ as well. I'd stay away from the JUMP version if possible between the two. This also applies to the JMPS version of the alternate art for Blue-Eyes White Dragon, which is a lot rarer than the JUMP version. JMPS was a very limited reprint of the JUMP cards, not as many copies were made. IMO they are the grail for the Kazuki Takahashi artwork cards because of how limited they were during production. Another interesting thing about that version of Dark Magician is that it is an alternate art for the white haired Arcana Dark Magician which most people don't realize.
would love to see you expand on this series for other cards in the future. One future video could be about the cards drawn and signed by Kazuki Takahashi. I feel like there's enough cards in that category to dedicate a full episode about.
This is a great series if you can continue! Yugioh can be tough to navigate as a newer/returning collector given all the same cards being printed with different rarities over the years
Lovely video Omar, I'd love to see a similar break-down on collectable cards from OCG sets, or on promos overall in order of release year - could be a nice introduction series.
Definitely a great type of video to the channel man, something like once a month would be perfect as it's a lot of information to take in. Maybe even 1 every 2 months. I would say you should do your favourite card of all time though, MAGICIAN OF BLACK CHAOS.
This is going to be a series. I remember how daunting it was making my list and going through every rendition of the greats on the Wikis. Both EG and JPN as well as the other languages sometimes.
Bro!! This is a great idea of a series! I’d love to see you cover blue eyes and what you think is worth prioritizing or not! Especially for aspiring collectors like myself
For Arkana’s Dark Magician, the Yugi’s Legendary Decks box (YGLD-ENB02) wasn’t the only time that this variant was released. According to the Yu-Gi Neuron app, it was also released Dark Beginning 1 as an Ultra Rare (2004/10/12, DB1-EN102) and Dark Legends as a Rare (2008/11/21, DGL1-EN004). For rereleases outside of those three, this variant was included in the Speed Duel: Streets of Battle City (2023/08/24) in both a common and Secret Rare (Common is SBC1-EN10 and Secret Rare is SBC1-EN01).
I litterally started collecting all the blue eyes after watching your Blue-eyes version of this video and now I am about to start one for DM. Please make more videos like this
I bought a Vol.1 Dark Magician from Japan last year and had to settle for one with a little playwear as the minters were hundreds of pounds to import. Mine looks perfect in a binder but it does have some scratches and surface issues when viewed raw. The PCY prismatic is one of my other favourites as the foiling looks so good and the card stock is fantastic. The Duel Power art is indeed excellent. I picked up a secret rare OCG copy for pretty cheap and highly recommend it 👍
I like this video. I collect all dark magicians as well, the only ones I don't own are the DT previews and the OCG ones. After seeing that OCG ultimate rare, mabe I need to open up my horizons to collecting OCG cards, cuz that us beautiful.
I agree, why does Konami love the tablet artwork of blue eyes and dark magician so much. Even the new Starlight I mean quarter century rare on those won’t make me like them And imo this is a great series, would love to see more cards. I think it’s great for people who are just getting back into it or just starting collecting
Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I personally love the tablet artwork for both Dark Magician and the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. For me it captures the Ancient Egyptian roots of these cards in the series.
I love watching your videos man, informed and the analysis given by you are top notch. keep it up and cant wait to watch more informative video on yugioh card game!
Great series - please continue it! Do you plan to talk about other JUMP or JMPS - Promos like the God Cards and how the reprints hurt the value of some beautiful Kazuki Takahashi Artworks? That would be awesome, keep up the good work!
please do more of this series. I loved the vid my boi 🔥 and when ya get a chance maybe do a red eyes black dragon video for this series. Its my favorite card of all time 🔥
Dark Magician is at the center of my collection, my favorite card. I have all variants and support cards. No idea where you're getting that SDY is more coveted than DDS, or that DDS is overvalued. If anything, DDS is undervalued, even with the alternatives out there now.
From someone born in the 90's who played, watched, and collected Yugioh cards throughout the 2000's, I'd like to share a certain perspective (and it may be yours as well). Myself and most of my friends wanted the original Starter Decks because it had Dark Magician or Blue Eyes on the cover, plus all of those iconic monsters from the anime as well. The anime was a huge driving factor. It felt like you got a whole lot more for your money compared to the video games, because you could carry your deck with you to duel with friends anytime you wanted. Hardly anyone I knew was playing the video games much, but you heard of it here and there, so almost no one had the DDS cards. So a lot more people in my city (at schools and LGS's and whatnot) identified with the Starter deck cards, because that's literally where their Yugioh experience started. The DDS promo cards were a really niche thing in my experience. So I get why die-hard high-rarity collectors want DDS, but the overwhelming majority of people I knew wanted the 1st edition SDY/SDK cards because it resonated so hard with their childhood experience. When I see the 1st ed. SDY Dark Magician, I associate it with a whole deck of amazing experiences and memories with old friends. It's a lot more coveted for folks like me :)
@@danslife8326 Well that's nice. I mean I can understand that perspective, I ofcourse grew up with very similar experiences. However, just based on the card itself and loving the OG artwork, a mint DDS vs a mint SDY has a very big aesthetic difference. From a purely nostalgia based perspective, you're 100% right, SDY wins. In terms of looks though, DDS is just perfection. I personally own both and can say that the prismatic secret rare foiling on the dds dark magician is just gorgeous for that artwork
@@TheShortQuest Yeah that makes a lot of sense, and that prismatic foiling sure looks amazing. I don't own a DDS copy currently but from what I understand it was produced with OCG card stock, so the quality of the card itself supposedly is much better as well. Thank you for sharing👍

Actually think it's easily one of the best looking dark magicians out there...def top 3 for me

As a Poke Collector… you’re the reason I started my high end Yugi binder for all the nostalgia! Love your videos! They’re all so educational
Yes absolutely do more of these! This is interesting, informative and can absolutely be a helpful guide for anyone looking to collect very specific yugioh cards.
Really nice video man. I hope this pops off and you make more of these.
Dark Magician is why I got into Yugioh and why I stay collecting. Love this vid!
I love this type of series bro, I learn so much about collecting from you. More OCG lore!
I've a binder dedicated to every dark magician ever printed in the tcg, gon be expensive
Great video! It's awesome to have this information all In one place
I love the BPT-001 so badass. Also just picked up a Adidas DM!

I'm down to continue this series, I really liked this video

This was very interesting, would love to see this series continue

Dark magician > BEWD any day for me. It's my favourite card. I agree with BPT being stunning. The reverse variant is even more insane.
1st 10 seconds of your video sums up my cardboard addiction
I'd love to see more of this, specially a DMG one.
Yoo this vid was crazy, can you make one about Blue Eyes and Red Eyes too please? I'd 100% watch both! Love you man!! Edit: And DMG too ofc
Definitely keep doing this series! Love it!
Awesome vid. That ulti dm in the ocg looks sick
Rush Duel DM is also a awesome one to collect and dont cost so much
Great video. Definitely continue the series.

Have a playlist on the channel. Thanks for viewing the videos.
I love watching your videos man, informed and the analysis given by you are top notch. keep it up and cant wait to watch more informative video on yugioh card game!
Great video! Just to note there's an Ultra Rare Dark Magician YUCB-EN001 with same artwork to CT14-EN001 if you cant afford the Secret Rare
Thanks for the video, I was looking for the missing artworks for my collection
What an epic video man. Thank you creating this I'd love to see a Red-Eyes video on this same topic.
You should cover all the iconic monsters with this series. Blue-Eyes, Red-Eyes, DMG and others. Keep it up Omar. 👍
Please continue the series this is amazing!

please continue this series! Would love to see one on red-eyes!
Thank you for this video! I’m getting back into collecting YuGiOh cards myself, more so for the artwork, lol. This video is super informative!

Agree red eyes black dragon would be a good one. And even though this it's super popular would love to see a blue eyes white dragon version of this
What about the 1st ed Maximum Gold version? They look pretty cool with the original print, especially being gold.
Can u pls do a video about the different types of binders ideal for beginner collectors or those who just came back again to the hobby.
12:13 yeah I agree. That card does not belong in your binder >:(
I have it side by side the blue eyes in the same rarity in 2 transparent picture frames in my bookshelf, they catch the light so beautifully lol
