Years ago, I was a wife #2 and signed a prenup, no problem. He'd made his hard-working first wife sign a quit claim deed on the house. I did move into his house. The whole time we were married, it was "you pay half, I pay half" (including groceries, household bills). Drove me insane. Long story short, the marriage failed after seven years, no surprise, and I was happy to leave and had never asked this guy for a thing. We tried for kids but turns out I couldn't. I'd had a small home of my own when I met him, always worked full time, never cared about his stupid house or anything in it, yet he was always obsessed with the fear that some woman would take it all away from him. I ran into one of his nieces a few months later, who told me that he got married a third time less than six months after I left. Turns out wife #3 left him within the next year and managed to empty the house of all his furniture. He died alone in that stupid big house in 2010, at odds with his only daughter and her family.

The 50/50 thing doesn't work well, especially because incomes shift during different periods of life. My husband and I make about the same amount of money as each other. I'm currently in my third trimester of pregnancy and need to take some unpaid leave, so his income is covering all of the bills until I can go back to work.
How did you guys discuss the financial situation with becoming pregnant? Does he ever mention or say to you that he wishes he can support you (and your child) with only 1 income? Does he ever show sincere emotional recognition that he will continue to do his best to make enough money to support you one day and that you don't have to work?
When we got pregnant, I did have a lot of sick time and took FLMA, my checks still hit, but my husband took care of everything untill I got to work, marriage has all types of changes, but we talk about everything, especially finances, so we are always on the same page, with whatever comes up in the household

Regardless whether you make 50k or 50m, if there is one partner earning significantly higher then the other might feel this way. Now whether this insecurity is a natural inclination or caused by the higher earning partner, that might be the crux of the issue. The whole time we were married, it was "you pay half, I pay half" (including groceries, household bills). Drove me insane. Long story short, the marriage failed after seven years, no surprise, and I was happy to leave and had never asked this guy for a thing. We tried for kids but turns out I couldn't. I'd had a small home of my own when I met him, always worked full time, never cared about his stupid house or anything in it, yet he was always obsessed with the fear that some woman would take it all away from him. I ran into one of his nieces a few months later, who told me that he got married a third time less than six months after I left. Turns out wife #3 left him within the next year and managed to empty the house of all his furniture. He died alone in that stupid big house in 2010, at odds with his only daughter and her family.

Of course it’s hard to tell because we’ve never heard him say it so we don’t know the context but it’s not very many avenues for this type of discussion.

Now whether this insecurity is a natural inclination or caused by the higher earning partner, that might be the crux of the issue. I have been married for 30yrs and with my husband for 38( we were together for 8yrs before we married) I stayed home and took care of the kids and our home ... and my husband.... Also being "worth $1 billion" for example doesn't necessarily u can touch it immediately. U set yourself a daily/monthly/yearly allowance so u can live comfortably and still have the majority of the money working for u in the background.
They could be investment properties. You might be worth a lot, but a lot of money is tied up in stocks, investments etc.

Some retire their parents, purchase them homes, pay for their care, education etc. There is also the family members coming out of the woodwork who claim they need help. These are households outside of their own. This is a stance that she took to feel secure and confident in her relationship, just in case. There is a confidence that comes with”us” on every level, not just the relationship.
