If you want to explore the farlands, I would suggest the Single Player Commands mod for beta 1.7.3. It's fairly easy to install, and adds a lot of useful commands. It basically adds many of the commands included in the Essentials plugin used by servers to this day. One which is very helpful is /killall, which kills all entities in the world. This is useful because many mobs spawn in the farlands, but worse, gravel often generates in a weird way which causes it to fall and break, thus turning into drops. As these drops build up infinitely in the farlands, the game becomes increasingly laggy. Running /killall will fix this issue. You can also load farlands chunks in beta 1.7.3 and then change the version back to a newer version of the game, and use creative mode to explore the chunks you generated... but where's the fun in that?
Have you seen the newer video, you don’t need none of that Maybe the killing entities would be useful but if you have a good PC it’s fine, nothing a GTX 1050 can’t handle
@Kcajminer2312 not true, they collect infinitely, and a Graphics card isn't going to do you any good because Minecraft (especially in that version) is largely CPU/Memory intensive. It does not make good use of any GPU. Lag from entities is not a result of the game being unable to render the entities, it is the result of the game attempting to tick the logic related to entities. As entities increase infinitely, it follows that any computer will eventually run out of resources, and Minecraft will lag, then crash. Your hardware specs basically just determine how fast that happens.

My old PC was a laptop so it really needed Optifine.I still use Optifine on my current PC as It stops the frame rate dropping low and give me about 100 more FPS. But as the minecraft world loading is more CPU based now, my FPS still drops when loading new chunks. I get around 45-100FPS without optifine and 45-245FPS with optifine. Optifine dosn't have a beta 1.7.3 (as far a I know) and if the chunks get generated in a new version of the game, the far lands won't be there

GTX 1050 and a good CPU, there were no mods(Optifine) at all in this video.
