to me both of them won; Billie was projected to debut with 240-260k at first but now got 338k and her biggest debut thanks to that push, and Taylor got another week at No. 1.
I'll show my age now. Back in the 90s Blur decided to release their single Country House on the same day as Oasis' Roll with it. The music press loved it calling it battle of the bands. Blur got the no.1 but to be honest neither of the songs represented either of the band's best work. Both Blur and Oasis sold far more singles that they would have without the so-called battle. Beef sells!
@@imnotfine.well Billie went off in another interview once saying she doesn’t care about the chart games, and here she is caring very much about the charts. She’s very hypocritical. I mean at least Taylor admits she wants to be #1 all the time.
I've been a die-hard Taylor Swift fan pretty much throughout all of her career but in the last couple of years I have been feeling increasingly disappointed in how she chooses to handle all the criticism regarding her carbon footprint. My interpretation is that she suffers from numbness to criticism because for so long it was so unfair that she had to block it out in order to survive, and that has caused that now, when criticism is 100% justified and she really needs to check herself out, she cannot see it anymore. It's our fault as spectators I think, for idolizing pop stars.
She is also close friends with Bridget Mahomes, who protected a r*pist. And with Lena Dunham, who helped cover up the r*pe of a Black woman. And 10 years of friendship with Drake, who everyone knows preyed on underage girls. And 11 year friendship with Matty Healy, who has expressed white supremacy and also preyed on underage girls. When called out for this, Taylor doubled down on her support for Healy in a song. Taylor herself dated underage boys in her twenties, so birds of a feather flock together. She has also never condemned the doxxing, death threats, and harassment her fanbase perpetuates ... including homophobic and racist abuse, much of it aimed at women. Then there's the death of Ana Benevides and her lackluster response. And the fact that she's never acknowledged the privilege of her career being arranged by her billionaire stockbroker father, who bought major stakes in the record label that signed her weeks before it did. "Don't meet your heroes" as the saying goes.
we have the responsibility to hold her accountable with our dollars and criticism however we can, but don't blame yourself for her ignorance. she has her own responsibility stay educated and do better like all of us and by saying it's only circumstances that made her this ignorant, we are continuing the cycle of idolization by making excuses for her. i have been a fan of her work for over 15 years, but she's a billionaire now and there are no ethical billionaires.
Same.. I seem to not be able to enjoy her work anymore coz of all this! She was my favourite singer for a decade but now as I live the realities of climate change everyday & then the whole MH debacle, I just don't reach out to her work anymore
Your final arguments about how being a fan should be about enjoying the music are so good! I became BTS army thanks to the pandemic and found myself in communities online where streaming had systems, buying had guides, and everyone had this high pressure feeling to do it all. I have since stepped out of those spaces and am enjoying the music for the music’s sake. I don’t feel the need to buy everything or stream 24/7, but now get to enjoy just to enjoy. 💜
I’m sorry but the internet is so sensitive. People keep taking everything Billie is saying out of proportion and not hearing her out fully. Everything that Billie is talking about from playing a long show, selling vinyl variants, being environmentally conscious, the amount of tracks on an album, THATS ALL FROM HER EXPERIENCE. SHES…NOT…THROWING…SHADE. For the three hour show, I can see where Beyoncé and Taylor fans are getting all peeved but Billie was talking about herself. Basically she was saying she can’t pull off playing a show for that long. However, she praised Taylor and Beyoncé for pulling that off. For the vinyl variants. People were not seeing the brighter picture and the main point of her bringing it up. She’s talking about being environmentally conscious about selling products that aren’t wasteful. She was expressing how for Her vinyls. Billie’s vinyls are made of other recycled vinyls and have plastic wraps to shield them. Billie’s points of artists putting out numerous different variants was Billie trying to say that they aren’t environmentally conscious, they are just putting out stuff for fans to buy for the money and for sails and not caring about the environment. For the amount of tracks on an album. First of all, the Apple Music interview was filmed in April before “the drama”. People need to sit down and calm down. Anyway, Billie and Finneas both expressed how during the making of their sophomore album “happier than ever” they thought how every song they were making was so good, and not really giving it time to really love it but still landing it on their album. Which makes sense of why there were 16 songs on that album. Billie saying “that’s why the album has 16 songs, no one wants to hear that”. She was talking about herself. People always complain about how artists have to many songs on their album tracklist. People complain about an album with more then 12 songs is WAY to long. Every artist including Billie knows that and that’s why she probably said it. It wasn’t directed to Taylor at all. Also keep in mind, Billie is a person that doesn’t feed into drama. Many times In the past people dragged Billie into drama for no reason just because they thought she said something directing to an artist when it was just taken out of preposition. Back in May 2022, at the Met gala. People thought Billie was throwing shade at Cardi B when she was performing. Someone caught on camera of Billie mouthing the words “so weird” to Cardi’s performance. When cardi saw the video she DM’d Billie and Cardi posted to Instagram why Billie said ‘so weird’. It’s because people were trying to touch and recording Cardi’s a$$. Cardi ended the drama by saying “Billie is my baby”. SEE. So the Internet once again is taking everything Billie is saying out of proportion. These fandoms really need to chill and actually hear Billie out. I can understand why they think Billie is throwing shade, but no. look at the big picture. Actually hear what Billie is saying.
@@xrrgr yeah Beyoncé fans took it lightly because i believe they understood that every artist doesn’t have the stamina that Beyoncé and Taylor have to put on a 3 hour show. And yes absolutely, it’s very annoying, I’m glad it has calmed down recently.
This “beef” is giving back when Little Monsters and KatyCats were feuding in 2010-14, and KatyCats and Swifties were beefing in 2014-17. Like Swifties feel “threatened” and bamboozled over comments by Billie over comments that wasn’t even directed toward Taylor, yet they make it their job to think that’s happening. If a three hour show is psychotic, Billie could’ve talked about Dave Matthews Band, Dead and Company, or Bruce Springsteen, but Swifties jump the gun like they usually do because fan culture is insufferable. Like you, I’m a fan of BOTH Taylor and Billie, yet those fanbases will call me fake because being a hybrid stan means you don’t care.
Look, even if it wasn't her intention, you can't blame people for understanding things this way. If felt like a shade cause Taylor's tour (also Renaissance too) is a 3 hour show and it's happening RIGHT NOW. I love Billie and I've been a fan since "Bad guy", but we know how people see things. The same for when Taylor released 2 vinyl variants in the HMHAS release day, intentional or not, it felt like a shade and that's what most people will think.
It is just for 2 weeks to protect the vulnerable. Why do you have to be all selfish spreading TAYLOR SWIFT at a time like this? It is better not to take any chances. Listen to the experts.
Having known incredibly intense swifties I think some of the jumping the gun is because they literally might not be aware of other musicians doing the same things. Like they might just not realize other artists do the 204929 vinyl variants or the 3 hour concerts (and were doing both long before Taylor did either) so it's automatic to assume it must be Taylor because she's the Only one and she's on the brain daily. Like I'm pretty sure some swifties literally don't listen to anything except Taylor and Taylor's friends so everything industry related must come back to Taylor somehow
@@phelanii4444he’s actually someone I really want to see live, but his ticket prices are some of the most expensive I’ve seen even for regular face value.
Fanbases have become almost seperate entities from the artists they stan. Like, I feel Billie and Taylor are completely unengaged and their rabid fanbases are acting on behalf of themselves, while telling themselves it's on behalf of the artists
I think Taylor engages a lot with her fanbase and has said nothing when they sent death threats. I think she has deliberately cultivated a parasocial relationship with her fans, and as a result her internet fanbase has only become more rabid.
I love Billie's music. I really really like hit me hard and soft. I love Taylor's music. I really like the tortured poets department. Taylor drops remixes around a month after the album. This is also what she did with Anti-Hero. She didn't owe it to Billie not to keep promoting an album that's a month old. And she is *barely* promoting it. I don't think Billie is intentionally shading Taylor either. I think she's unintentionally done it a lot which I would probably attribute to her age and not thinking through her hot takes. This is a nothing burger, it'll stir up extra sales and make people act like assholes to each other on the Internet. Business as usual. Honestly the only person who I would actually consider acting in a way that is genuinely problematic is Billie's manager.
yeah this is kinda where i align myself billie's music is great which is why i think it'd do her some good to have some pr training. i think she has avoided it bc she wants to stay authentic and say things she means (which sometimes works in artists favour, like renee rapp) but i think it just means that she is unintentionally saying things she doesnt fully mean (e.g she doesnt want to do a 3 hr long show but this came out as she doesnt think people want 3 hr long shows; she doesnt want to make a long album because she'd just be doing it for the sake of it came out as she thinks albums should be shorter/dont need to be as long as happier than ever was). whilst i understand her hesitance, there are artists like olivia rodrigo who have clearly had pr training (i think being a disney kid helped with this) but still maintain their authenticity. olivia's been involved in some pretty big 'drama' - by no fault of her own imo - but because she doesnt comment on things and is careful when she does speak on things, the fire is dampened. celebrities can control their fanbases being overzealous, there are still ppl who claim to be olivia fans but just use her name to be hateful towards sabrina carpenter despite olivia never encouraging this for example, but i think itd probably fan the fire and help billie's music be the talking point of her release weeks, rather than criticism of her statements descending into fan rampages
I think the same. I don’t think either are in the wrong. Taylor has always dropped remixes around this time after an album. I don’t think Billie is in any way wrong either. I do agree that Billie’s manager is problematic, just stirring up drama for no reason.
She sort of does it every time for every album, especially recently, a month after a single comes out, the remixes come out. However, I also wouldn’t be surprised if the release meant of the remixes were in some way related to new music being released by all artists (not specifically Billie but just new artists in general) to be on the charts.
i do find it ironic how she (or at least her team) sent pr to kim kardashian of all people.. that family has more plastic in their bodies than the ocean does
I see Taylor Swift like a more controlled version of Nicki Minaj in terms of wanting to be the only alpha start of their genre, and *no one else* ... is more methodical and less explosive than Minaj who seems to enjoy being a bully.
I think kpop probably also has an influence here, because releasing several versions of the same album, and then releasing several versions of the repackaged version of the album (which is the same album but with a few new songs and a whole new promotion cycle, new physical albums, etc.) is standard practice and has been for many years. And the streaming guides and stuff like that are also very common in the community. This is bad for pretty much every one except the biggest groups/artists because sales and streams don't mean anything anymore and it makes it so much harder for songs to become popular organically, on top of the over-consumption that will, in the end, affect us all.
Billie better and her album still at #1 on Spotify so whatever it’s very known how desperate, jealous, offended and how much does Taylor cares about the attention and proving she is “the best” when clearly is not 😴
agree with most of this - i do think taylors well aware of the variant battle with billie, but i dont want 2 assume vindictiveness. i think taylors just very obsessed with the idea of legacy & knows this very well could b the peak of her commercial success/fame, so wants to milk as many records & chart statistics from TTPD as she can
I feel like I've gone through an inverse journey as a Taylor Swift fan. As someone who has liked her music ever since she has started releasing albums, I no longer feel comfortable voicing out loud that I like her music. This is in part due to Swift's actions herself, and largely in part to her psycho fans. For some context, I'm closer to Taylor's age - so I while I feel like I've grown up with her music, I have never idolized her. The toxic behavior from her fanbase is reprehensible. Like others, I don't think there is an actual feud going on between the two artists, but some crazy shit started by their fanbase. FWIW, I support Billie Eilish's efforts to be more sustainable. The rest of the music and industry should follow suit.
while i agree swifties have shown toxic behaviour, this was purely started by billie's side of the fanbase. they claimed taylor was trying to block Billie through...... 2 voice memos.
What peole should really be giving Taylor flack for is the way she handled the death of her fan in Brazil and trying to reignite the feud with Kim kardashian but I digress.
11:35 there is a third option. Eilish camp miscalculated the succes of TTPD and what the restart of the tour would do to boost the sales of it since the tour is over in Europe when selecting the release date. Then when it became clear that it wasn't an easy nr 1 spot they tried to activate their own fanbase by softshading some beef, hoping that it was large enough for their own side but not big enough for the other side to pay attention. But just like in sports you do not give the other team ammunition to use in a battle. Swift stays silent just does her own thing (or did she) while Eilish now reaps a good boost in sales but not a nr 1 spot which could cost her at the Grammy's when going up against a Cowboy Carter.
Can we please stop acting like fandom is an acceptable form of building community/spending time as opposed to the mental illness that it quite obviously is? And can we stop acting like purchasing deluxe albums are the only way to hear a popular artist's work? People need to grow up and learn how to pirate or how to get a library card. You need your money more than Taylor does full stop.
It makes me sad that some people think Taylor Swift is the greatest lyricist or songwriter of her generation. They are missing out on some really fantastic indie artists who could really benefit from the support.
I remember being told about this "beef" for the first time and being genuinely flabbergasted that anyone would care. Like, I can usually see why stans get upset, but in this particular case, it seemed like such a stupid thing? I'm glad you're talking about it.
I think it was always planned for taylor and not related, or barely related. She was projected to keep #1 over Billie even without the extra releases. It's her regular release schedule to do a slow trickle to stay on top for longer. Maybe she moved these drops up a week or two just to make extra sure she'd keep it, but I doubt it's personal
Yeah and she honestly barely promoted this album compared to her other original album releases, ignoring folklore and evermore during lockdown. She usually does huge roll outs and promotion cycles.
I joined a Swiftie group on Facebook and it's just so sad (I noticed it during release of 1989 TV) how fans desperately wanted to buy the pink vinyl and then the blue and then the yellow but they barely had any money and the variants were available for a limited time only, etc. This is manipulation by creating the idea of scarcity. If this is the only way for an artist to go #1 then, dare I say, they don't deserve that spot and it is unnaturally manufactured. This is also why today's sales cannot be compared with any sales 10 years or 30 years ago. 40 years ago no one in Soviet Union countries could really buy any albums from Western musicians, unless they somehow smuggled them in. I am a swiftie but hell no, I am not buying all the variants. I also hate how there were different variants with TTPD with different additional songs in every version and then they all ended up on Anthology (Yay for that). Maybe it's because I am old and I have made so many (stupid) purchases in my life already and seen how little use and joy they have brought in my life. In the end, you do you and I am not judging anyone for buying different variants but I rather feel sad for them, remembering how heartbroken some swifties were for not being able to afford them. Also, Taylor could have shut down this feud speculation easily: "we all got crowns". Also, Billie is 22 years old. Stop comparing her to Taylor Swift whose been in the industry for almost 20 years! Billie still has so much place to grow and it is mind-blowing the level on which she is at the moment. Personally, I like her new album.
My vote is to not be mad at anyone…their names are their multibillion dollar brands ran by some of the best [and greediest] business men/women/humans so majority of these responsibilities should go to the brands and the manufacturers who aren’t helping reduce damaging materials. However the $$ is the deciding factor so the fact we all buy the variants and extra “stuff”, they’re going to keep producing it.
Maybe it’s just me, but ppl really should learn to treat music as a product it is and artists as someone whom they are making business with, in that sense that they should restore their boundries in artist-fan relationship.
Ooh, guuuuuuuuuurl!!! This kind of beef has been around in the entertainment industry FOR AGES!!! It's like a toxic circle where the involved people and their managers feed the flames and feed themselves alike at the same time that the media and the public does... And that'd be the real phenomenon to study! (hey, what about a Deep Dive video on that topic, huh?💁♀️ You're welcome😉). PS: That Darienne Lake at the end cracked me! 😂👍👍
I tried to support both but had to send back my billie vinyl 3 times from 2 different stores because her quality control on the US vinyls vs Euro are very apparent. 😅 Usa ones arent as advertised.
I can't really comment on the "beef" because I don't know anything about since I don't closely follow both artists but the whole multiple versions to drive up sales spoke to me. As someone who likes kpop I know it was always normal for groups to release multiple versions of the same album. But I feel that recently things have gotten more insane with the multiple versions+member versions+weverse versions+randomised member versions....
I see both sides here. On one hand, the industry seems to perpetuate waste & excess consumerism & I don’t agree with it. On the other hand, they DO need to market and the consumer should consume responsibly. It’s not really up to the artist how crazed fans respond, but obviously they’re going to use their most dedication fans to make more money. And I see this type of pressure marketing technique in the author world, too. It works. “Help me get to or stay at #1” is an age old tactic and I don’t find it like “pressure” really. And I know people love T-Swift but at the end of the day, she’s still #1 because she knows how to axe the competition. Obviously she knows how to play the game and will play it for all it’s worth (and her team).
The fact Billie had something to say about people and vinyls just for sales when she literally has 8 vinyl versions of HTE is wild 😂😂😂😂 like literally some of them are the same colour just a different shade
@@ttw4s yeah it is cool she used recycle vinyl. I wonder if that’s feasible for more artists to do on large scales. I just assume there’s not enough waste/ left over to make it a more mainstream thing. Would love to see Taylor swift do that if she’s gonna realize so many different variants. Also Billie’s mom is a big environmentalist, and does a lot of the behind the scenes of the eco friendly stuff, so she definitely gets a lot of help from her.
Fantastic question as always. Yeah, I wouldn't put it past either team (the artists include) to game the system in whatever way keeps all of the relevant. I doubt it's coordinated between the camps, but like the essay said, it's a self-fulfilling or self-feeding series of events that seemingly escalates. To some degree, ego HAS to play into this, or you'd see both (or either, honestly) directly addressing the other. I think when Beyonce was doing her tour there was a similar media-encouraged "beef" that germinated for a bit (and for similar reasons, quite honestly). At the end of the day, these are uber rich camps fighting for every moment in the spotlight...and the belief that the fight, more than camaraderie sells more albums and tickets.
its so funny cause like. there is no “taylor and billie” beef. there’s just beef between taylor and billie’s fandoms who are taking comments out of context in order to suit their own personal confirmation biases. i really hate being a swiftie sometimes cause god are other swifties so damn fragile about even the tiniest potential bit of criticism being pointed in her direction. its like they tie their own personal sense of morality and self worth on their worship of her, and that if someone doesn’t like taylor/says something that could be even minutely perceived as a slight against her, they think that person hates them, too.
To me having different vinyl and cd edition is just a cash grab. I hate how celebrities and companies have turned. To get money regardless of the consumer. I love Taylor’s music, but I extra voice memo in every cd? It’s ridiculous…
To be fair,,, at least she includes extra songs and such to incentive people to buy it. Other artists like Billie and Olivia just give you the same album on 8 different vinyls, and people buy them all.
As someone who buys different cd/vinyl editions, I do not ever buy more than one. I literally just pick the one with my favourite bonus track/cover art and get that one. I can stream the rest. No ones forcing you to buy all of the cds or vinyls, it’s not like that’s the only way you can get the music.
I always found it hilarious that the narrative is 'They are making you buy all these variants'...like no...They never MADE any fan do anything. And yes, before you could say fans were manipulated but today? I think everyone is aware that the bonus tracks will eventually end up on one of the music platforms so if they buy all of the variants it's 'cause they want to. I think the media and we as consumers just LOVE putting ALL the blame on the people making these products, but who's buying them? I'm also tired of these justice warriors online...they complain about consumerism...tweeting from their iPhones... at this point, unless a celebrity did something atrocious (SA, murder etc. you know...the truly horrendous acts) I don't give a shit
I ❤️ Billie's new album but I won't be buying it on vinyl. I think it sounds better on headphones. I have purchased two copies of TTPD, the Albatross and the Target Phantom edition. I will buy the Anthology when it comes out. So I guess I am the problem...
I didn't know this was a thing and I love that for me. I know that I liked Billie's album more than Taylor's so that's the one I'll be listening to more 🤷♀ but happy pride, stream lunch
This is way out of my element but I just don’t see much beef here. The fact that either (or any) artist would keep re-releasing any album just to stay atop the charts speaks to a level of vanity and greed of which I can’t expect to ever comprehend or associate. While your average teenage fan girl might be the ultimate loser, if their parents are going to enable the mentality that it’s okay to buy as many variations of the same musical album as possible, that’s on them. As for the artists themselves, I have no idea if it’s sustainable. It’s a different medium, but this makes me think of the mid 90’s comic book crisis when they were printing 80 million variant covers per release.
For me it's just two people both doing bad things (depending on your perception of bad of course), while only one side is also being honest about it. So yeah, ultimately I don't care. My only problem is with people who *pretends* to care about serious social problems when in reality they're just participating in internet drama.
Ok before watching the video I don't think the multi vinyl print call out to artists is wrong but saying no one wants three hour concerts is wacky I do want earlier concerts though
It feels definitely like indirectly they’re coming for each other. I like Taylor but I think she’s purposefully doing that, considering the whole Olivia Rodrigo lawsuit. Sure she could have had nothing to do with it but she also could have stopped it if she wanted and she didn’t. It feels like a pattern of behavior.
Billies team and herself trying to force drama is super cringe to me. I am actually glad it didn’t work, cause it’s super annoying. Any beef between artists is annoying. Billie making remarks about Taylor and then being a complete hypocrite about it. Her team liking shady posts, so weird.
My guess is that there is a grand plan and coordination, they know exactly what they're doing, and we're buying into that 😂😂😂 But hey, they kinda both win from that. Not us, though.
@kaylasays worded that poorly, mb - not unwarranted but sorta as a non-issue. like yea billie was a bit hypocritical, but she was at least transparent abt it. the last thing taylor swift's gonna do is talk honestly about her carbon footprint lol. ofc, a youtube sponsorship isn't on the same scale of consumerism as pressing millions of records, it was just vry funny timing /nm

@@TheCinder24 Billie is number 1. Taylor is in a different industry promoting pharmaceuticals.
to me both of them won; Billie was projected to debut with 240-260k at first but now got 338k and her biggest debut thanks to that push, and Taylor got another week at No. 1.
The famous and rich wins again, who is even surprised?
But billie and her team definitely want the number one spot
I'll show my age now. Back in the 90s Blur decided to release their single Country House on the same day as Oasis' Roll with it. The music press loved it calling it battle of the bands. Blur got the no.1 but to be honest neither of the songs represented either of the band's best work. Both Blur and Oasis sold far more singles that they would have without the so-called battle. Beef sells!
@@kinolibby6580 I watched a video about the Oasis/Blur beef like a week ago! So funny to see someone bring it up in relation to this
@@imnotfine.well Billie went off in another interview once saying she doesn’t care about the chart games, and here she is caring very much about the charts. She’s very hypocritical. I mean at least Taylor admits she wants to be #1 all the time.
Wdym none wins? the record companies got all that extra money from stans outstanning each other with their dollars
the fans are the ultimate losers, because it distracts from the craft
And ultimately, both labels are under UMG. it's literally misogynists in high risers profiting off of it all.
Very true
How could they be beef if they haven't spoken about each other or done something about eachother
I agree
Saaaaame
we have the responsibility to hold her accountable with our dollars and criticism however we can, but don't blame yourself for her ignorance. she has her own responsibility stay educated and do better like all of us and by saying it's only circumstances that made her this ignorant, we are continuing the cycle of idolization by making excuses for her. i have been a fan of her work for over 15 years, but she's a billionaire now and there are no ethical billionaires.
Actually hear what Billie is saying.
lol i don't think beyonce fans were upset but i agree people keep taking billie's words out of context for ragebait and it's annoying.
I mean, if Springsteen can do 3+ hour shows at his age, all I can say is respect 🤣
I’m obsessed with Billie’s new album but I’m still not buying any vinyls or digital reverb remix extended versions 😭
Honestly the only person who I would actually consider acting in a way that is genuinely problematic is Billie's manager.
yeah this is kinda where i align myself
billie's music is great which is why i think it'd do her some good to have some pr training. i think she has avoided it bc she wants to stay authentic and say things she means (which sometimes works in artists favour, like renee rapp) but i think it just means that she is unintentionally saying things she doesnt fully mean (e.g she doesnt want to do a 3 hr long show but this came out as she doesnt think people want 3 hr long shows; she doesnt want to make a long album because she'd just be doing it for the sake of it came out as she thinks albums should be shorter/dont need to be as long as happier than ever was). whilst i understand her hesitance, there are artists like olivia rodrigo who have clearly had pr training (i think being a disney kid helped with this) but still maintain their authenticity. olivia's been involved in some pretty big 'drama' - by no fault of her own imo - but because she doesnt comment on things and is careful when she does speak on things, the fire is dampened.
celebrities can control their fanbases being overzealous, there are still ppl who claim to be olivia fans but just use her name to be hateful towards sabrina carpenter despite olivia never encouraging this for example, but i think itd probably fan the fire and help billie's music be the talking point of her release weeks, rather than criticism of her statements descending into fan rampages
Billie definitely has a point, it’s good that she’s actively making sure what her packaging contains
i do find it ironic how she (or at least her team) sent pr to kim kardashian of all people.. that family has more plastic in their bodies than the ocean does

The 3 hour performance remark is a bit silly though like obviously people do want that 😂
Billie better and her album still at #1 on Spotify so whatever it’s very known how desperate, jealous, offended and how much does Taylor cares about the attention and proving she is “the best” when clearly is not 😴
Imagine the parents of these superfans seeing that their credit card was charged 5 times for the purchase of the same 5 vinyls
More needs to be said about the upper middle class impulse to give CHILDREN acces to credit cards.
omg this is so nostalgic its like the Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne beef all over again
Yay, love when women are pinned against each other! Super original and not at all problematic
agree with most of this - i do think taylors well aware of the variant battle with billie, but i dont want 2 assume vindictiveness. i think taylors just very obsessed with the idea of legacy & knows this very well could b the peak of her commercial success/fame, so wants to milk as many records & chart statistics from TTPD as she can
Love you using Darienne Lake's pic as Billie to end everything.
I thing the only good part about these stupid "beefs" and situations is the content we get from Kayla because of it
Ok Darienne Lake as Billie for the ending screen was genius!
This is why I don’t trust most fandoms, let’s just enjoy the work in privacy. Also, this is some Kpop Stan-levels of Yikes!™ 😬

You should plug and link your second channel a lot more.I didn't even know it existed!
Personally, I like her new album.
you're asking people to stop pitting artists against each other? no way. some cannot comprehend that 💀
Darienne Lake at the end sent me. 🤣
Of all the Swiftie vs. beefs, this is my first time hearing about one with Eilish's fandom.
Great video Kayla, very insightful.
There is no beef. That’s final.
11:08 'Because she's obsessed with herself' 🤣😅💀
Here in Brazil, Taylor fans are being called "bolsominions do pop", witch would be something like "pop maga people" in the US. Is very fitting.
I tried to support both but had to send back my billie vinyl 3 times from 2 different stores because her quality control on the US vinyls vs Euro are very apparent. 😅 Usa ones arent as advertised.
thoroughly appreciated the darienne lake billie eilish outfit at the end of the video LMAOOO
I wasn’t expecting it but so glad it’s there lmao 😭
Yeah she also has many exclusive vinyls, apparently made from recycled plastic.
did she not say she was part of the problem multiple times? and she's also using recycled materials which most artists don't do
@@ttw4s yeah it is cool she used recycle vinyl.

I had no idea this was happening! Thanks for making this video. I blame the streaming culture and capitalism in general.
It’s ridiculous…
thats literally not even true but ok.
I'm also tired of these justice warriors online...they complain about consumerism...tweeting from their iPhones...
at this point, unless a celebrity did something atrocious (SA, murder etc. you know...the truly horrendous acts) I don't give a shit
not the darienne lake outro 😂 icon
I ❤️ Billie's new album but I won't be buying it on vinyl. I think it sounds better on headphones. I have purchased two copies of TTPD, the Albatross and the Target Phantom edition. I will buy the Anthology when it comes out. So I guess I am the problem...
I didn't know this was a thing and I love that for me. I know that I liked Billie's album more than Taylor's so that's the one I'll be listening to more 🤷♀ but happy pride, stream lunch
Including “ME!” By taylor swift
Connecting psychical variants to digital is insane. In terms of sustainability, they literally have nothing to do with eachother?
Yeah Billie also has many variants, though they claim to be made from recycled plastic and vinyl.
great video as always
My only problem is with people who *pretends* to care about serious social problems when in reality they're just participating in internet drama.
take a shot every time she says 'recycled plastic'
Ok before watching the video I don't think the multi vinyl print call out to artists is wrong but saying no one wants three hour concerts is wacky
I do want earlier concerts though
Being an artist getting ur music on a playlist is a hugee accomplishment, adding every song being the standard for ur audience is a draining task .
Is there anything wrong in being in second place?
It feels definitely like indirectly they’re coming for each other. I like Taylor but I think she’s purposefully doing that, considering the whole Olivia Rodrigo lawsuit. Sure she could have had nothing to do with it but she also could have stopped it if she wanted and she didn’t. It feels like a pattern of behavior.
Billies team and herself trying to force drama is super cringe to me. I am actually glad it didn’t work, cause it’s super annoying. Any beef between artists is annoying. Billie making remarks about Taylor and then being a complete hypocrite about it. Her team liking shady posts, so weird.
when i come to power, releasing more than one version of an album in each format will get you ASBO'd
I didn't know know they had beef
My guess is that there is a grand plan and coordination, they know exactly what they're doing, and we're buying into that 😂😂😂 But hey, they kinda both win from that. Not us, though.
saying billie's concerns about sustainability and hyperconsumerism are unwarranted, then IMMEDIATELY cutting to a product placement is CRAZYY 😭😭
Where did I say those concerns were unwarranted??
@kaylasays worded that poorly, mb - not unwarranted but sorta as a non-issue. like yea billie was a bit hypocritical, but she was at least transparent abt it. the last thing taylor swift's gonna do is talk honestly about her carbon footprint lol.
ofc, a youtube sponsorship isn't on the same scale of consumerism as pressing millions of records, it was just vry funny timing /nm

6:10 its known that taylor does this for every artist LOL. the swiftologist said a few words in one of his videos about it
Well, maybe this a karma for Billie Ellish for not using her power of fame to correct the mistake made by the Grammy Awards 2020.
