So after reading through these comments it looks like I did goof on the math re: the 1.5 million codes versus 2 million in sales because I forgot to take into account that you could buy up to six tickets (I literally just forgot that was an option lmao i’m dumb) so I guess the argument is more so that they shouldn’t have sent out as many codes as they did. We live and we learn but the point still stands: Ticketmaster blows.
100% it's too bad something wasn't done back in the 90's. It didn't matter one bit that they were sued. I got a tiny bit of money back from fees and 8 tickets. NONE of which I was ever able to use. Because it was only for places that all seats cost the same. As well as only very few concerts I could choose from. It was bullshit now and it's a million times worse now.
And the crazy thing is THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IVE SEEN TICKETMASTER JUST BE A COMPLETE DUMPSTERFIRE! I’ve used it several time for ppl like twice, Loona, blackpink, itzy, and the whole experience from the queue to actually getting the tickets is hellish😭it’s wild to me that Taylor is the inciting incident for ppl to look into Ticketmaster but nevertheless I’m glad it seems like SOMETHING is going to be done
yes i was gonna comment about this!! now that it’s happening to a huge american artist i’m glad people are recognizing the issue that has been going on for years. trying to get tickets for ptd la was an absolute shit show and a terrible experience and the issue should’ve been resolved then but hopefully something changes in the future
@@jareaus Taylor was like the first ever artist I got into and actually stanned before I even knew about kpop😭I really love her so this whole Ticketmaster stuff is sad
My boyfriend was able to get us two tickets for the first Nashville show...after he waited 7.5 hours not being able to eat or leave his laptop. Needless to say, I owe him big time. But it never should have been like that in the first place. He managed to get us tickets in the spot we wanted and I’m eternally grateful for that. If he hadn’t gotten presale my soul would’ve shattered. Ticketmaster is a terrible company that needs to be put in check. I’m so sorry to all swifties that weren’t able to get a ticket. You didn’t deserve that.
@@eastside0434 considering he proposed at the concert and watched me have the best time of my life, I don’t think he did. He said he’d do it all over again to see me that happy.
I'm not a Swiftie but I have gone through the hellish experience that is Ticketmaster on multiple occasions. It just gets worse and worse each time. Whether it is for BTS, Seventeen, or Paramore, buying tickets is always a stressful experience. Every other week, it feels like TM is pissing off another fandom with their terrible website and scummy tactics. All of the signs were there that this was going to be a veritable disaster. I feel so bad for the people who couldn't get tickets. The handling of the presale codes and dynamic pricing is unconscionable. I really hope that the fandoms can band together to force real change. Ticketmaster's monopoly has to be dismantled. Swiftly!
I texted my mom like three weeks before the presale, went “hey I’m gonna have a huge whole in my bank account bc of this jusy be aware” and she went “nah I wanna go too” so basically now my entire family camped out until the presale and now we’re all going😂
Just one note… the 1.5 million fans given presale codes were allowed 6 tix each. That is why 2M were sold and why so many didn’t get tickets. They only expected 600K of the 1.5M to participate in the presale and buy an average of 3 tickets each. Which was just stupidity at the highest level.
There are also people who are going to multiple shows. For example, one friend buys a group of tickets for one night, then another friend with a different presale code buys another night. So people may have only bought one ticket technically, but are going more than once because their friends bought the next set of tickets. Each presale code was for six people? It’s no wonder so many people got fleeced.
They underestimated nor did they understand how much people want to see her perform. I hope there is some sort of recourse that Taylor can claim from ticket master.
I too have been frustrated with the amount of people I saw bragging about getting tickets to multiple shows. Hopefully they can find disappointed fans to sell the tickets too at a reasonable price. Of course I would like to see Taylor multiple times but not at the expense of other fans.
my friend has been a diehard swiftie since fearless came out and i’ve been since folklore. we both waited 4 hours together and he was kicked out after getting in, eventually not getting tickets at all. i was able to snag 2, of course not floor seats or a close section because $800+ for a concert is only something the wealthy elite can enjoy. i’m so grateful i got 2 so my friend could enjoy but he was genuinely so defeated being such a big fan and being screwed over by the website
I’m not really a fan, but this sucks, I’m sorry for you, Swifties 😢 I had a very similar experience trying to buy MCR tickets in 2020. Kept putting seats in my cart only to be told at checkout that they were gone. I hope the situation gets rectified in some way, shape, or form.
This sounds like the time I spent $1500 on two machine gun Kelly tickets. Ticketmaster is fucked and the fees are unreal. The fact that they are able to make the price fluctuate should be illegal. It was less to buy two tickets individually than it was two at once. Music is so therapeutic and meaningful for us as humans and it’s legit heartbreaking when this shit happens.
I got really good tickets for myself and my husband but I was so fortunate that my boss allowed me to WFH so I could dedicate time to this. I never bought tickets to Loverfest, I have never bought any Taylor merch, but I have been a fan since her yeehaw days in 2007. I honestly feel guilty because I feel like so many more hardcore Swifties were more deserving. I genuinely do believe Taylor is just as furious as we are and is doing everything in her power to fix the situation.
Literally wtf are wrong with the 2 first commenters? You aren’t pathetic for empathizing with people who didn’t get tickets. Just remember that you got them for a reason! Enjoy your show as much as possible, you deserve to be there just as much as the next person 🤍
I had a sign posted on my office door on Tuesday morning stating "DO NOT DISTURB - TRYING TO PURCHASE THE ERAS TOUR TICKETS" LOL I made sure no one bothered me and by 1010AM, I had my tickets!I didn't have any issues but when I got into my socials, it was war.
They shouldve fired you. That was extremely irresponsible of you to flail out on your job just so you could purchase tickets for a talentless hack like her
Evermore, Folklore, and Midnights made me a full blown swiftie. And I did love Reputation and liked Lover enough, but it wasn’t until her last 3 albums that I really dove in. That being said, I was prepared to buy tickets to at least one show. The fact that she’s released 4 studio albums since her last tour and re-recorded 2 albums meant that it was going to be big. I wasn’t able to get tickets and I’m pretty disappointed.
I’m in this video! I am so happy I got to talk to you and see the completed project! Great work as always! I sure hope someone busts a trust. I didn’t even know that Live nation also owns managements for individual artists (not Taylor). It’s really bad. Hopefully the fact that Swifties are rabid and Taylor does not want this can lead to actual change. Thanks for making this!
ive been a swiftie since i was 3 in 2008 lmao and this will be my first concert of hers. im so hype but so so sooo lucky to have the opportunity to have stayed home to get tickets. idk how i scored them, probably just pure luck, but i am so excited and so angry.
Omg it literally melts my heart to see people who have been fans since they were literal toddlers now get to see her as teens/adults! I guess that’s the one silver lining. Hope you have an AMAZING time, and aren’t given any trouble from zillennial dinosaurs like me 😅
Karma is your boyfriend...girlfriend...or🙂 Congratulations! I'm just slowly morphing into a new Swiftie and wasn't planning on trying to get tickets anyway (hate stadium shows and SO many people like yourself are more deserving than me of securing a coveted ticket at this point). Have a GREAT time!!😊
@@jeffreyh271 Not sure if your reply is really meant for me but....at least you tried and it's perfectly fine if she's not your cup of tea😊 If people had told me two years ago I'd like Taylor Swift's music in the future, I would have said they were crazy! But here I am (thank you folklore for shattering my preconceptions)
thanks for this video, you are the first person I come across, to ACTUALLY explain the issue and what happen exactly, instead of just saying that “there’s been a problem”
thank you for this video! i literally have no other swifties to have discussions about this whole fiasco. i’m not from the US and they’re much more casual fans than i am :[
I just wanna say as a kpop fan who's gone to plenty of concerts..Ticket master definitely did this on purpose and could have done a better controlled way to sell tickets.
I got two floor tickets after about 30 minutes of waiting room time and then 30 minutes waiting in the queue. I joke that the stress was so intense it compromised my immune system and that's why I'm now fighting off a nasty cold. I've been a fan for over a decade and Taylor has gotten me through every stage of my life so I'm beyond excited to see her again after so long. 💕💕💕
The fact we had codes, some of us were in there and TM would error out or keep seats from being bought because of restrictions like leaving a seat alone or aisle seats. Also other artists lost out because their fans couldn't get on the sight to buy for other artists. And Taylor's team said they had no choice but to use TM
Except that TM is not a joke. They are a multi-billion dollar company who runs MONOPOLY. People need to realize that this case is way different from Spotify, AM or record labels. Those three battles that Taylor won AINT a monopoly, TM is. Taylor's power is MASSIVE but it takes everyone especially the congress and goverment to break 'em up. As a swiftie, I am afraid that if its just Taylor vs Ticketmaster, she will ended up like Pearl Jam in 1995 and CAN'T tour stadiums anymore because of their bad blood. Her career would be in jeopardy if her future tours would be reduced to arenas or even worse theaters.
Its wild that it had to happen to a big artist in 2022 to finally address how horrible Ticketmaster is, I been going to concerts since 2010 and everytime it’s the worst experience going thru the queues, getting kicked out when I’m about to checkout, the resells being over face value, scalpers still managing to get tickets to overpriced them. It’s been way long overdue to have Ticketmaster look into Edit: I just realized I started to go to concerts the year live nation merge with Ticketmaster… in the end it’s still shouldn’t been allowed to happen
The pre-sale codes were tied to your Ticketmaster account and it was not supposed to let you enter the queue if your Ticketmaster account was not selected as a Verified Fan for that specific pre-sale. Whether or not that system actually worked 100% of the time, I don't know but anecdotally, I was blocked from entering the queue for any pre-sale that was not the one I was specifically selected for (even in the same city but a different date). When my boyfriend tried on his Ticketmaster account (waitlisted for Verified Fan) because I had the same concern as you about people with no codes entering the queue, he was also blocked.
I believe that Ticketmaster is telling the truth that only those with codes were able to join the queue. The code was linked to the specific verified fan account, so they'd know when you click to join the queue whether you're verified for that particular show. My account was waitlisted, and when I went to the site the next day for the Capital One presale, it wouldn't let me join at first as the event page hadn't yet switched from the verified fan presale. It told me my account wasn't verified and booted me back to the home page. Of course, this was all still a mess and very much their fault.
The same thing happened to me for blur, thankfully my sister is a ticketmaster queen and managed to snag me some standing tickets, but there were 40k people in front of me for a 90k capacity event and i still managed to get through to tickets so there definitely wasn't enough for the general sale.
This happened with bad bunny tickets. It was chaos! I somehow managed to get 5 Taylor swift tickets lower level 15 rows back. Great seats but I was stressing the entire time. I joined the waiting room about 20 minutes before the queue opened. And it seems if you were not there early you were out of luck. I was able to get in after 2 hours in the queue but there wasn’t that many seats left. I just looked for 5 seats in a row and bought them quickly! I was in and out of the checkout in less than a minute. I learned you had to be super quick thanks to bad bunny.
I think the math does math because they said 2(mumble) million tickets sold, but 1.5 BUYERS let in, and most buyers bought more than one ticket. Otherwise Jesus Christ this is bullshit and I want Ticketmaster to BURN. Crash and BURRRRRRNNNN. I've gone through this several times this year on smaller scales, especially the PVP experience of watching your tickets disappear when you've already selected them just because you're not a robot. Thanks for covering this.
This is why I don’t go to concerts anymore and just buy the artist’s individual concert videos or watch on streaming somewhere. It’s cheaper, you don’t reward ticketmaster or scalpers, and you can watch it more than once. No, it’s not the same, but invite a few friends over first and add a few drinks (also cheaper than in an arena) and it’s still crazy fun. I’m really happy HBO is starting to show these as well.
Great video! But 14:20 I wanted to clarify that you did need to have a presale code attached to your Ticketmaster account that you were logged into. If you didn’t it would not put you in the queue. But Ticketmaster definitely gave out too many presale codes and should have portioned the number of tickets available for presale, Capital One sale, and the general sale better.
I don’t think you needed an account with the code to enter the queue. You just needed to be have registered with the verified fan program. Not sure about the bots though.
You had to put the code in after the queue. It should have been you needed to put the code in to enter the queue. It caused way too much congestion in the line and I saw some people got tickets without even having a code
Kayla, this is an excellent video- thank you for doing this. Ticketmaster needs to be broken up, and this may be the final straw. I am highly confident that Taylor will be introducing some sort of legislation, as she isn't going to let this slide- they should have had Apple music in their minds before deciding to do this. It makes me sad that some people were turning on Taylor and not working this through. Hopefully, that will stop as they get more information, such as this video. I'm really impressed with the work you put into this. Keep it up, girl!!!!
That 1.5 million codes vs 2 million tickets thing is actually really interesting to me, because just because there were 1.5 people with codes doesn't mean that those 1.5 people were all there to simply buy one single ticket each. There was a maximum of 6 tickets that people could buy at once, meaning that if every single person with a code had tried to buy out the maximum that they could, Ticketmaster would have needed to reserve *9 million* tickets for Verified Fan alone, not to mention Capital One presale or the general admission. If Ticketmaster could not do that, and they could only accommodate for a little over 2 million tickets, then they never should have given out more codes than their supply could theoretically meet. It doesn't matter if statistically, most people buy tickets in groups of 1, 2 or 4--if you are implementing a maximum of 6, then you should accommodate for the worst case scenario of every single code holder trying to buy out all 6. Absolutely feel that the 1.5 number is accurate with how many people online seemed to be getting codes, but they never should have given out that many to begin with if the theoretical maximum of tickets that could be bought by a single person far outweighed all 1.5 million code holders' ability to even get one ticket. edit: ok knowing that they only were expecting an average of 40% of code holders to use their codes and buy an average of 3 tickets each, then that meant that they only expected 600,000 people to be online buying tickets, and that they only expected to sell an average of about 1,800,000 tickets at the most. This falls in line with the statement that they sold 2 million tickets that day; they set aside an amount that they were expecting for that demand. But they also stated multiple times that they expected demand for this tour to be historical and unprecedented. I don't know, maybe that necessitates expecting more than 600,000 people to show up, huh?
Yeah they should only allow 2 tickets max for each code that's why they have to added 17 more shows to the tours and given how the situation gotten even worse and a lot of fans couldn't get the tickets i'm not surprise if Taylor ended up adding 10 shows more and I check only around 100,000+ tickets is now on resellers website so it kinda checks out Ticketmaster statement of 5% of bots getting tickets
I feel like Taylor is one of the few people we can genuinely trust. She tried to make this easier for real fans to get in with the presale codes. Ticketmaster couldn’t even make those codes work properly when the sales were active. They really are the devil, like you sad. It would be really cool to see Taylor implement a similar strategy to Ed Sheeran. Or if Ticketmaster could just simply not allow the tickets to be resold at such astronomic upsell that would easily solve the problem too. Also listening to everyone else’s story makes me feel incredibly lucky. I waited in queue for about two hours and managed to get in and then had to try to input my code for another 30 minutes while it said the code was not valid. And after all of that I was still able to get two seats in the middle area of the arena I’m going to and they were 200 apiece. I so badly wanted a VIP package but all were gone except for the thousand dollar ones by the time I got through.
honestly, there is simply no way for the artist to make ticket sales fair when it comes to ticketmaster. bts also has tried a bunch of methods for keeping things fair like low starting prices, disallowing soundcheck ticket transfers, and issuing presale codes etc. none of it ever works, or if it does anything at all then that just means it would have been even worse without it-even with all of that, bts have also sold out before general admission & faced ridiculous resale ticket prices that they of course dont see a dime of
Bruh also a bunch of people on tik tok apparently found out they were double selling tickets, people getting different ID numbers on their emails and the same tickets being owned by two different people. What the holy fuck
As a Bad Bunny fan who waited 4 hours for presale & 4 more hour for the regular sale I decided to wait till the day of the concert to buy tickets I can confirm the demand will not go down
Not to mention that some of the presale codes DIDN'T WORK!!! Which is why the queues were so long because they put all queues to a hault for a soild hour to 2 hours while they attempted to fix the issue. Because according to ticketmaster, they didn't put the codes in the system properly??? Seems a little fishy that all these presale tickets got sold so quickly, concidering the fact that maybe a quarter of the codes were "invalid." Myself included. And once I got back in, with my fix code, 5 hours later, there were barely any tickets left. Who was buying these tickets???????
I fear for the day one of her tours come to Canada. Celebs only ever go to Toronto. Getting tickets to that will be like winning the hunger games. Highly unlikely. 😅
The classic North American tour, US dates and a single Toronto date. And occasionally come to Montreal and if Canadians are really lucky they’ll stop in Vancouver lol.
I somehow managed to get through two Verified Fan queues and the Capital One queue (for friends and family, mind you), and I have NO IDEA how I got that lucky considering all this mess, other than my office having really good internet? This was my first time buying Taylor tickets and it sounds like the Rep tour was a much better system, but I hope Taylor finds a way to circumvent Ticketmaster in the future.
Them service fees ridiculous too. Ticketmaster is really taking advantage of the situation. I hope there is some accountability but doubt it. I tried getting sza tickets for la and failed. Never again. Lol
i get ur point but you did have to have a code to get in the queue, ur account had to be marked as a "verified fan" to join it. i'm guessing they sent out too many fan codes (i barely saw anyone who didn't get a code) and it fucked everyone up
600 DOLLARS?!?! for a single ticket!? This isn't normal right? I've never paid more than 100 pounds for a concert ticket before here in the UK. How does anyone afford that? How are ticketmaster charging 100 dollars for fees? I'm shocked
And from what I understand, the artists plays a pretty large role in determining the price. And fans don't like to admit that cause they just can't believe that their fave would charge so much money but . . .they do.
This is one of the instances where I’m sort of happy that metal is not so popular here in the U.S. most of the the tickets I’ve bought for concerts were less than $60 after taxes and fees. And for one, I was able to buy tickets a week before they were to perform. There is one I’m looking at that is around $115 but I’m hoping the price goes down a little more since it’s gone down from $123.
@Adri I think the price fluctuation is what baffles me the most. I am used to a system where prices are set for seats, and whether you buy months or days in advance, you pay the same amount for the same type of seat. I guess plane tickets work in the same way concert tickets work in the US, but damn, if this idea takes off in more areas, people will be quickly priced out of everything. Makes me sad Edit: and the fees. The fees are just criminal Edit edit: did more research, and ticketmaster are testing this 'dynamic' pricing out in the UK too. I don't think so, Ticketmaster, you've got more competition over here
There were very very few people who only bought 1 ticket. Lets say 1.5 million people were given codes to get tickets. Many MANY of those people are buying 2 or more seats. It was capped at 6 seats per person. They could have sold many more than 2 million tickets with those numbers alone. They didn’t lie about it, it’s just logically how many they probably sold if even half of those people got through to buy tickets.
There is a reason a lot of sports venues to sporting events have no ties to Ticketmaster and why more and more started pushing stubhub and other online ticket resale sites.
14:41 this is not true! You could not join the queue if your account was not verified for that show, TM would give you an error message and not let you in. If anyone has any examples of this failing, lmk, but I haven't seen anyone say they were able to join the queue while not verified. If you were verified but not for the event you tried to get in line for, it would give you an error message basically saying "right artist, wrong show, go join your queue". If you account was not verified, it would say "This event is for verified fans only."
the thing about the queue isn’t true. we WEREN’T allowed in without a code. i was in the queue for my friend group and i didn’t get a code but one of my other friends did. i tried to login with MY ticketmaster account and use the code THEY got, but the site recognized my account didn’t receive a code and wouldn’t let me in. no hate at all, i’ve just heard a lot of people say this and i wanted to clear it up. this vid is phenomenal overall.
This happened to my dad too when he tried to buy tickets for me and himself, but the positive side to this was that one of her tour dates (the one in Levi’s stadium) was on my older sisters birthday. So I didn’t want to go to The eras concert on her birthday. (We did try to get tickets the day before but they were gone)
i got tickets. pretty good seats for the price. but i feel so empty. maybe i feel empty because as i got my tickets, i sat and had to watch my friends get kicked out, wait for hours, and see the looks on their faces as the day dragged on, prices getting higher and higher. so many hearts got broken, so many. this whole experience is fucked. fuck ticketmaster
as a kpop stan who has fortunately been able to go to over 20 concerts ,tickets have always been kind of difficult but not new to me i underestimated Ticketmaster this time for this specific presale. i wasn’t able to get any but i was the second time around. i’m so happy
so many swifites are going through survivors guilt of sorts due to getting tickets even with the shit show and KPOP fans have been dealing with this type of shit for even longer it's so fucking stupid and there needs to be a law that makes it illegal to resell tickets for more than face value. i heard Norway has a law like that which makes ticket buying a breeze there.
I was supposed to get tickets, but my mom kept getting kicked out, there was this article or what not that came out saying if you bought TS merch, you had a lower chance of being able to get tickets, but I think I'll be getting some soon because they sent out this email that if you were fan verified but didn't get tickets, you get another chance to get them, but it makes me mad that new Swifties got tickets since I have been a fan since forever and I feel like most of the people going are little kids who shouldn't even be listening to her new music, but that's just me, I was lucky enough to go to her Rep tour, but it just makes me mad when people go out bragging about their Eras tickets when they know they were some of the very few who got tickets and have probably never been to one of her concerts
I bought tickets to the local Nutcracker ballet, I visited the venue's website MADE MY PURCHASE DIRECTLY FROM THE VENUE. Turned out that the tickets I the tickets were handled by Ticketmaster who in turn transferred my tickets to Vivid seats! Both Ticketmaster and Vivid seats required me to open accounts.
I also think a lot of people didn't read the emails telling you how to navigate the process. You were supposed to use the same device you were verified on and all this other stuff
I got presale and did not get tickets. It was so frustrating. Once I got through the queue, the site froze and then when I was able to view tickets, they were gone before I could even click them. Just really disappointing
One thing to note that seems kind of negligent for ticketmaster is that they only expected 40% of people with codes to show up and buy tickets. So it is very feesible that thay gave out over 2 million codes. Verified fan does nothing to prevent trained scalpers from scooping up thousands of tickets.
I know for a fact you didn’t need a code to buy tickets. I know someone personally who was able to buy tickets without a presale code, and saw multiple people online posting videos of themselves purchasing them without codes.
I had this experience with Britney tickets 4-5 years ago. They made us struggle for nosebleed seats for hours and in the meantime they silently made tickets available for two more shows that weekend.
I was lucky enough to get 4 tickets and it took me around 6 hours - I was so happy because I couldn't get the LoverFest tickets last time and I've been to every tours since Red Tour
I hope that this is an okay place to share these concerns, but at the risk of coming across looking like a keyboard warrior, I feel compelled to bring something up because no one is talking about it. I had thought maybe Taylor had grown as a person, and as a former Swiftie wanted to believe it, but as recently as 2021 there was a situation where she took to Twitter to say that a Netflix show, Ginny and Georgia, had made a sexist joke at her expense (re her going through lots of boyfriends). It's fine that she wanted to stand up for herself in that way, but when Swifties began attacking the actress who delivered the line with racist slurs and LITERAL THREATS OF DEATH in response to Taylor’s tweet, it’s outrageous that she didn’t say something. This was a big news headline. Taylor was “feminist” enough to defend her own name (in the name of her very self-serving brand of feminism) but disappeared when attacks turned ugly and racist. That's not real feminism. I can't be convinced she and her team didn't know about this. It was a big news story and it took place as a direct result of her tweet defending herself. It’s hypocritical to claim feminism in defense of yourself but to throw your hands up and walk away when death threats and racist comments are being hurled at another woman. That’s bullshit. I don’t think I’m being unreasonable to say that in light of the events that unfolded after Taylor’s tweet, her cries of “feminism” ring hollow. She has a long history of this type of self-serving and politically tone-deaf behavior, including when her team threatened a blogger with legal action (serving a cease-and-desist) for arguing that Taylor should denounce the white supremacist fans who insisted she shared their beliefs and called her their Aryan Goddess. She literally could have sent that cease-and-desist to the Alt-Right groups making those claims in the first place. It’s disturbing that the person she chose to threaten w legal action was the one saying she should denounce the LITERAL HATE GROUP rather than the people OF that hate group claiming she shared their beliefs. Of course, either way, that’s first amendment protected speech. People were allowed to speculate in Taylor’s silence. Ultimately the American Civil Liberties Union admonished Swift and her team. There was also the music critic who gave folklore a score of 8/10 instead of a perfect 10. Swifties doxxed and harassed her. If you don’t know (I didn’t), doxxing is when stans publish private information including, in this case, the home address of their victim. They sent the music critic death threats and published her address. Bear in mind that I am someone who at 19 went to a Speak Now concert and cried tears of happiness when she came on stage. But I will never be so blinded by love of a celebrity that I’m not able to call out wrong when I see it. The lack of willingness to hold her accountable in this fandom honestly scares me. Someone could have died in the Ginny/Georgia situation and in the music critic situation. Also by speaking hatefully of Scooter Braun, she has opened him and his family up to death threats from fans. (They threatened to kill his child.) we are waaaaay too desensitized to “stan” culture if we think this is even remotely okay. Please don’t make this about me being a “hater”. I LOVED her. But we should not dismiss these valid things. Again, it’s gotten to a point where it’s literally life threatening and there’s a scary pattern that I feel we aren’t taking seriously. If you don’t believe the things I’m saying, look it up. There are lots of articles online from reputable sources (like Time and NPR) and the public tweets that Taylor chooses to make (or not to make) are all Google-able, too. At this point, I’m honestly a bit triggered any time Taylor speaks about feminism because her feminism has proved time and again to be entirely self-serving and even frequently at the expense of others. She’s essentially using a movement that’s meant to liberate instead as a way to bolster her brand and advance her career, again, even at the expense of others.
you did need to be registered for the queue you tried to get into or else it didnt let you in (there was a lot of sneaker bots though and i’m sure the added layer of putting ur code prior could help with that) but Glendale Arlington and another couple on Seat Geek anyone could get into the queue until you entered the ticketmaster code at the end. i hope next time she can do what she did for reputation 😭
They should only allowing each Verified fan code to buy maximum 2 tickets! Because most of the fans bought more than 2 tickets and 3.5 million registered to become a Verified fan and only 1.4 million were chosen to given the verified fan code so the tickets are bound to be not enough for the General public and fans and the total tour capacity are around 2.5 million which is clearly not enough and I calculate that around 100,000+ tickets are on the resellers website so it kinda checks the box of Ticketmaster statement of 5% bots which is unavoidable unless Ticketmaster do something like cancel the tickets and sell it again which is unlikely since they also profited from it.
that wouldnt be a great idea-what if a mother wanted to take her 2+ kids? the problem with 90% of anti-scalper measures is that the main people they affect are regular people, and scalpers will get those tickets anyway :(
I was checking Ticketmaster at the time of on-sale because I had to change my email and never received any info on whether or not I was selected for pre-sale. I evidently wasn't selected because it wouldn't let me in the lobby or queue at all; so you should have needed a code to get in line. However I think some people were mistakenly let in despite not having a code.
I love Taylor Swift, and I never even THOUGHT about attempting to get tickets to the Eras Tour. I figured it was going to be much mroe money, stress, and energy than I could spend, and seeing how it all turned out... Makes me glad I saved myself at least SOME of the frustration. ? I'm hoping the film like a concert tour movie for it and put it on streaming. I'll pay for whatever service to stream it, and that won't require me to sell my soul to TicketMaster!
How did I get my Taylor Swift Tickets? I am a Niners season ticket holder at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. I did try to get my tickets at Rope Drop. I was turned down about 5 times. Before finally reserving my seats. Yes! It was our pre sale with Niner ownership and Ticketmaster. I did get the second level. I purchased two tickets for around 600 dollars. Similar seats are now on stubhub. I believe they are going for more than double the price. That is one of my perks for being a Niners season ticket holder. 😅
I have never been a fan of hers. I don’t like her music. I don’t care for anything she’s ever put out. But when I tell you I DROPPED EVERYTHING to watch Kayla speak on it…
Simple solution, either make the tickets nontransferable or cap the price of the tickets at face value. If she really "Cares about her fans" then she should want her tickets affordable and being bought only by people wanting to see her.
My presale got moved because the website crashed at 10am my time. It was so horrible. So they pushed the time back to 3pm. Then, there was different steps to get in and you had to enter your code earlier on in the process. So it seems like they were trying to fix that aspect. It took me 6 or 7 attempts to get checked out because tickets kept getting snatched from me, but I feel like I got decent seats. Ticketmaster is still bullshit though.
If Taylor really cares she would drop her booking agent and going with someone else who won't use ticketmaster. A lot if major sports venues will have there own ticket company they use. Sadly she really does not care because she already made bank on this along with Ticketmaster and Live Nation and venues that use them.
thats the big problem, and why ticketmaster is being investigated as a monopoly-when its an artist THIS big that needs this many seats, many of the biggest stadiums have exclusivity agreements with ticketmaster and wont allow a different ticketing program. there have been other artists like bts who have faced these issues even in stadiums with 90k capacity-any attempt on the artist end to try and mitigate damage is usually useless bc 1) scalpers will find a way around things like presale & disallowing ticket transfers and 2) they are at the mercy of the ticketing systems that run the stadiums, who have a major monetary incentive to let as many scalpers drive up their profits as possible
i heard what i thought was a carbon monoxide alarm during cue but my swiftie instinct kicked in and i naturally ignored it and opened a window and continued waiting it was fine, just a part in the music i was listening to
Ok as a kpop fan it is pretty hard to get tickets but GETTING SENT BACK TO THE LINE?! That is something I’ve never seen w any kpop group, they just sell out fast
I was given error codes for the 10am presale for Santa Clara over and over until they postponed it until the afternoon. Then i tried again. I was in the 2000+ queue for an hour 1/2. I got in and i must have secure 20+ sets of 2 tickets. Every single time i was told that another fan got them. Then i started getting error codes. THEN my map started expanding until i couldn’t read it and it froze. When it unfroze there were only in back of stage and that’s just not worth it. So, i waited for the Capital One sale but it never came. My account kept me in the original presale with no option to pick Capital One presale. Then i got a notification that there were no more tickets. I had hope with the Public Onsale but when they canceled it i was sick. Ticketmaster fucked up but at he end of the day , they should cancel All the sales that don’t jive with the codes. They should cancel all the resale tickets. They should also cancel fan tickets that used duplicates of codes. It’s all a lie.
While I agree with most of the video, you couldn't get in the queue without a code. The email you were using had to be attached to a code in order for you to be in line. My mom, who got waitlisted, attempted to get in line without a code and it kicked her out.
A similar situation just happened with BTS member Suga’s U.S. tour, so it seems like Ticketmaster has not been working very hard on “improving the experience.” 💀
I might be being dumb... but if there were 1.5 million pre-sale codes and people with codes could buy multiple tickets, it makes sense they sold over 2 million tickets so that isn't actually a sketchy part of it. The rest of it... completely agree.
Tyty
it's okay ticketmaster did goof on the math too
Still doesn't make up for scalpers who were selling "verified fan" presale tickets almost immediately
Taylor is a boy name.
@@lettybastien4624 and????
Pearl Jam was always right.
YES! Every artist that really cares about their fans should’ve stood with Pearl Jam in the 90s.
Woah.... Flashbacks
So was my dad when he invented karate

And the crazy thing is THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IVE SEEN TICKETMASTER JUST BE A COMPLETE DUMPSTERFIRE! I’ve used it several time for ppl like twice, Loona, blackpink, itzy, and the whole experience from the queue to actually getting the tickets is hellish😭it’s wild to me that Taylor is the inciting incident for ppl to look into Ticketmaster but nevertheless I’m glad it seems like SOMETHING is going to be done
help omg a kpop stan AND a swiftie?? you have amazing taste!
yes i was gonna comment about this!! now that it’s happening to a huge american artist i’m glad people are recognizing the issue that has been going on for years. trying to get tickets for ptd la was an absolute shit show and a terrible experience and the issue should’ve been resolved then but hopefully something changes in the future
@@jareaus Taylor was like the first ever artist I got into and actually stanned before I even knew about kpop😭I really love her so this whole Ticketmaster stuff is sad

An orbit that is not a Taylor's hater? Well, thats new.
And now your boyfriend has realized what a waste of money it was.

Swiftly!
I texted my mom like three weeks before the presale, went “hey I’m gonna have a huge whole in my bank account bc of this jusy be aware” and she went “nah I wanna go too” so basically now my entire family camped out until the presale and now we’re all going😂
that is so cool lmao enjoy
So true. Like were they forgetting that Taylor Swift owns the highest grossing tour in North America?
Whats crazy is even with those assumptions they wouldve sold 1.8 million tix. General sale people were doomed from the start
my friend has been a diehard swiftie since fearless came out and i’ve been since folklore. we both waited 4 hours together and he was kicked out after getting in, eventually not getting tickets at all. i was able to snag 2, of course not floor seats or a close section because $800+ for a concert is only something the wealthy elite can enjoy. i’m so grateful i got 2 so my friend could enjoy but he was genuinely so defeated being such a big fan and being screwed over by the website
@E H agreed! At least I got the chance to see them this year, no snags this time around ☺️
I genuinely do believe Taylor is just as furious as we are and is doing everything in her power to fix the situation.
ur boss highkey that btch, gotta love them for doing that
This is the most pathetic embarrassing comment 😂😂
Guilty..? It's literally not your fault. How do you go through life.
i get that too tbh :( it's cool u managed to get decent tickets
Literally wtf are wrong with the 2 first commenters? You aren’t pathetic for empathizing with people who didn’t get tickets. Just remember that you got them for a reason! Enjoy your show as much as possible, you deserve to be there just as much as the next person 🤍
I had a sign posted on my office door on Tuesday morning stating "DO NOT DISTURB - TRYING TO PURCHASE THE ERAS TOUR TICKETS" LOL I made sure no one bothered me and by 1010AM, I had my tickets!I didn't have any issues but when I got into my socials, it was war.
wow u *really* lucked out then!!
Man, you are the CHOSEN one then
They shouldve fired you.
Thanks for making this!
ive been a swiftie since i was 3 in 2008 lmao and this will be my first concert of hers. im so hype but so so sooo lucky to have the opportunity to have stayed home to get tickets. idk how i scored them, probably just pure luck, but i am so excited
and so angry.
I'm just slowly morphing into a new Swiftie and wasn't planning on trying to get tickets anyway (hate stadium shows and SO many people like yourself are more deserving than me of securing a coveted ticket at this point). thank you for this video! i literally have no other swifties to have discussions about this whole fiasco. i’m not from the US and they’re much more casual fans than i am :[
I think it's time for her to bring a new change in the music industry and how the industry works.
It shouldn't just be on her though. Other artists should have been speaking out about this too.
It’s been way long overdue to have Ticketmaster look into
Edit: I just realized I started to go to concerts the year live nation merge with Ticketmaster… in the end it’s still shouldn’t been allowed to happen
I think the 6 ticket limit was ridiculous, it should have been 4 max
16:50 1.5 million codes were given out but 2 million tickets sold, I mean most people bought more than one you can get up to 6 tickets
I agree! Most people were definitely buying more than 1 ticket. The math checks out so Ticketmaster shouldn’t have sent out so many codes.
I know this isn’t the topic of this video… but I will be patiently waiting for the Drag Detective & Kayla Says collaboration of the millennium 🥰😋
Yeah. I don't get blame Taylor for this disaster. She had NO control over TicketMaster. They have such a monopoly it's disgusting.
Yeah they should only allow 2 tickets max for each code that's why they have to added 17 more shows to the tours and given how the situation gotten even worse and a lot of fans couldn't get the tickets i'm not surprise if Taylor ended up adding 10 shows more and I check only around 100,000+ tickets is now on resellers website so it kinda checks out Ticketmaster statement of 5% of bots getting tickets
you put this so well 🙌
that person with the lyrics tattoo is so so cute
As a Bad Bunny fan who waited 4 hours for presale & 4 more hour for the regular sale I decided to wait till the day of the concert to buy tickets
I can confirm the demand will not go down
Resident of under a rock right here! 🙋🏻♀️ 😂 I had no clue this was going on! I’m glad YT recommended your channel. ❤
thank you! i was in the queue for 4 hours
Great video!! I'm laughing because the Greg Maffei interview was on my show and seeing the clip from the interview go viral has been nuts
Whenever I hear “Live Nation” I know somethin gon go awry…y’all know what I’m talking about
FANTASTIC video! I guess I am a "casual swifty" as well haha. Thanks for putting in the research
Makes me sad
Edit: and the fees. The fees are just criminal
Edit edit: did more research, and ticketmaster are testing this 'dynamic' pricing out in the UK too. I don't think so, Ticketmaster, you've got more competition over here
how did the government not look into ticketmaster sooner like it’s the ONLY site to get initial tickets for nearly all concerts lmao
If you account was not verified, it would say "This event is for verified fans only."
the thing about the queue isn’t true. we WEREN’T allowed in without a code. i was in the queue for my friend group and i didn’t get a code but one of my other friends did. i tried to login with MY ticketmaster account and use the code THEY got, but the site recognized my account didn’t receive a code and wouldn’t let me in. no hate at all, i’ve just heard a lot of people say this and i wanted to clear it up. this vid is phenomenal overall.
not me getting a live nation ad during this video 😭
I've been to a handful of concerts, and apparently I'm extremely lucky because none of them were through ticketmaster.
"if u still defend the corporation please let me know how those boots taste on the way out" this one killed me real good🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👢👢
as a kpop stan who has fortunately been able to go to over 20 concerts ,tickets have always been kind of difficult but not new to me i underestimated Ticketmaster this time for this specific presale. i wasn’t able to get any but i was the second time around. i’m so happy
so many swifites are going through survivors guilt of sorts due to getting tickets even with the shit show and KPOP fans have been dealing with this type of shit for even longer it's so fucking stupid and there needs to be a law that makes it illegal to resell tickets for more than face value. i heard Norway has a law like that which makes ticket buying a breeze there.
Reason why this happen she haven't tour since 2017 she release 4 new albums 2 rerelease album we were hungry for it, no way tickmaster could handle it
I bought tickets to the local Nutcracker ballet, I visited the venue's website MADE MY PURCHASE DIRECTLY FROM THE VENUE. Turned out that the tickets I the tickets were handled by Ticketmaster who in turn transferred my tickets to Vivid seats! Both Ticketmaster and Vivid seats required me to open accounts.
I also think a lot of people didn't read the emails telling you how to navigate the process. You were supposed to use the same device you were verified on and all this other stuff
they should make you pick how many tickets you are planning to buy when you sign up for presale
You're real, you're gorge, you're obsessed with taytay - loving the moment babes :)
The thing is there’s tickets for every section at every tour date on reseller sites
There should be a national holiday in the US everytime Taylor Swift tickets went on sale. And no, this is not a joke.
a day of grieving
I was lucky enough to get 4 tickets and it took me around 6 hours - I was so happy because I couldn't get the LoverFest tickets last time and I've been to every tours since Red Tour
congrats enjoy!
What’s happening with the unsold tickets? Also, I wish fans would unite to boy of the aftermarket tickets.
Truly crazy how badly they dealt with this - will be interesting to see how the antitrust lawsuits play out
I love Taylor Swift, and I never even THOUGHT about attempting to get tickets to the Eras Tour.
I had to put in my code first - it unlocked the ability to select seats.
I have never been a fan of hers. I don’t like her music. I don’t care for anything she’s ever put out. But when I tell you I DROPPED EVERYTHING to watch Kayla speak on it…
Going out of your way to make sure that _everyone_ knows that you aren’t a Taylor Swift fan isn’t the flex you think it is… 😵💫
@@markramos1216 I was going out of my way to make sure everyone knows how much I love Kayla. THATS a flex, sweetie.
Me when i was a hater of taylor swift and explain my lies :
We don’t care… you just don’t have good taste!!😜
Apparently your brain cannot handle the tier 2 words …
i literally got 2 codes for 2 different shows / locations and still couldn’t get tickets
Simple solution, either make the tickets nontransferable or cap the price of the tickets at face value. If she really "Cares about her fans" then she should want her tickets affordable and being bought only by people wanting to see her.
I was watching CNN when they talked about TS Ticketmaster drama and I was so happy I knew something that they were covering lmao.
TICKETMASTER HAS A MONOPOLY ON MOST EVERY EVENT INCLUDING MUSIC CONCERTS, SPORTING EVENTS, BALLETS, PLAYS AND EVEN COUNTY FAIRS!
Lord. I’m scared for the Renaissance tour. We will march on Washington
i heard what i thought was a carbon monoxide alarm during cue but my swiftie instinct kicked in and i naturally ignored it and opened a window and continued waiting
it was fine, just a part in the music i was listening to
Ok as a kpop fan it is pretty hard to get tickets but GETTING SENT BACK TO THE LINE?!
I see you there, Drag Detective.
I feel like an easy solution would just be that your resale ticket can not exceed the price you paid for it.
"Because this one grocery store controls the distribution of all ALL OF THE FUCKING 🍌"
🤣🤣🤣
I might be being dumb... but if there were 1.5 million pre-sale codes and people with codes could buy multiple tickets, it makes sense they sold over 2 million tickets so that isn't actually a sketchy part of it. The rest of it... completely agree.
