With news that the delayed Euphoria season 3 will likely include a five-year time jump, fans have been theorising about what that might mean for their favourite characters.
Moving away from high-school and entering their twenties, there's countless career paths and life choices the likes of Rue, Jules, Nate, Cassie, Lexi and Maddy could take. Rue could become sober, Maddy could become a stylist, Lexi could be become a theatre director, Nate could end up in jail...
As you probably know by now, Euphoria season 3 has been delayed indefinitely. The writers and actors strikes had already pushed production back, but now "script issues" are reportedly plaguing the new season as creator Sam Levinson works to finish writing before filming begins.
Now, a source has claimed that HBO had vetoed two potential storylines for Zendaya's Rue, that were pitched by Sam and Zendaya respectively. - Розваги

Genuinely, the entire Euphoria cast have proven that they can and will do much better things than Euphoria. Season 1 was actually pretty good, as were the two specials, but season 2???? Nahhhh. Cancel that shit, HBO
Season 2 has butchered Jules so bad...... Her special edition episode was so extraordinary and well written and most of all well acted..... Jules was so much more than season 2 could offer.....
And I really don’t understand how they fumbled this show so hard. They really could’ve made it something but it just seems like there was no clear direction for the story. Characters were just tossed aside for nothing. Whole arcs just trashed or swapped out last minute.
I just don’t love that adults keep sexualizing high schoolers. It’s so fucking gross, creepy, and unnecessary. Adults shouldn’t be sexualizing minors.
Literally my main gripe with shows like this. Why is it set in high school and not college? College would have an equally if not more so diverse cast, lots of freedom from parents. It would actually make sense why they're trolling around all day and not in class.

I think most programs sexualize high schoolers if you actually look at it; especially in regards to horror movies. I do think Euphoria takes it to a different level though.
For the casts sake i really dont want season 3 of euporia. season 2 was the most poorly written thing any of them have been involed with and i am aboslutley including shake it up.
I liked what they did with Maddie in season 2 until the last episode. They reverted her character back to being just some loud mouth “spicy” Latina. I liked that one episode where Rue was running around the streets while going through withdrawal. The rest of it was a dud. I especially didn’t like them putting Cassie and Nate together. In season one, Nate talked about Cassie as if she disgusted him but now they’re supposed to be in love? I don’t believe it.
Malcolm and Marie with zendaya has way way way worse writing but Sam wrote that one too lmfao

We just have to accept that season 1 was lightning in a bottle...I've rewatched that season so so many times. I only saw season 2 once when it came out lol. If season 3 ever does happen, of course I'll watch, but I've resigned myself that at least we had season 1.
I think it's a misconception to imply that HBO needs euphoria. Without euphoria last fall, HBO had one of the strongest lineups in television history with last of us, white Lotus, house of the dragon, and yes succession. Euphoria had nothing to do with that. It wasn't on. It was still on hiatus. I think HBO was gonna be just fine without euphoria, and I think that's part of the problem for the show. Also, another reason why Levinson was sent back to the drawing board was because of the utter disaster that the idol was. That show was a flop, it was disgusting, it was perverted, and it really never should've been made. So I really do think that's why HBO has balls to shelve euphoria, potentially permanently.

I tried to watch Euphoria when it got big and everyone was talking about it and I was liking it, but I couldn’t keep watching. It’s the only media I’ve ever been ‘triggered’ by, for lack of a better term.

Nah it’s pretty intense. A little too intense for my liking especially since the characters were meant to be teens. Which is a shame because it also has some absolutely stunning moments :( I wish the shoe could have gone more in the direction of a show like Barry, which was bleak and intense but not shock value trash at the same time.
I get that! I had the same experience. Was freshly sober in 2020 when I first sat down to watch it, and I think I made it about 2 episodes in. It was just too much.

I’ve been thinking so much lately about how companies like Disney that once branded themselves around being artists/creatives are now run by a boardroom of aspiring(?) billionaires who cynically defer to a spreadsheet to decide the stories they tell and what art they’re going to market. Don’t get me wrong, obviously money has always come into play, but it feels especially disconnected now.

When it comes to old disney you've heard so many stories how they were very experimental with the developments. Like they adjusted Iago's character bc they found his voice actor to be compelling. Or rewriting Hades bc James Woods was so convincing during the audition.
Now you don't get that anymore. All princesses are pretty much the same. The way they talk is the same. The characters surrounding her are all formulaic

As someone that checked out euphoria in 2022 along with its two specials, I thought that it was a toxic show that glamorized serious issues and the only reason people like it is due to the makeup, cast, and outfits. I also don’t like how they made Maddy the walking caricature of a spicy Latina and hearing how Sydney Sweeney fought to have most of her scenes with Cassie toned down doesn’t sit right with me especially hearing how the idol got cancelled with Sam writing all of it. I also personally think at this point the cast has outgrown the show because Jacob Elordi has Salt burn, Hunter Schafer had ballad of songbirds and snakes, Zendaya has dune part 2 and challengers coming up, Maude Apatow was in the west end revival of cabaret and little shop of horrors off broadway, and Sydney Sweeney is on her way to scream queen status with the horror movie immaculate.
I'm so sad about all the choices made by the writers about the characters. Literally the only thing that I liked in S2 was how Rue was basically the only person to like the play and that mended the friendship.

Well, I never got the Euphoria hype anyway. It was just shock value without an engaging plot. Promiscuous teenagers with mental illnesses and substance abuse - SKINS did that better almost two decades ago. Idk if that's because it was British and us Europeans dare to show realistic characters on TV. Whatever it was, it worked and Euphoria did not.
Yeah I feel that Euphoria was mostly to look pretty. Pretty ppl in shitty situations, sex scenes, and fights in beautiful lighting. It also feels like a career vehicle for young talents to get noticed.

I think if he cares even just a little bit about his legacy as a creator this dude should stick to production and directing. It seems that even with the Idol most people saw potential with the idea of the show rather than the execution. I have never watched any of his shows but he definitely makes ✨pretty✨ stuff
Without his cinematographer and the lighting department for euphoria Sam would be nothing. We know that he doesn’t plan a lot of his shots and just goes with “the vibe on set” (which is horrible directing btw think of all the films where every shot is hand-drawn and meticulously planned out). All the credit should go to the cast and the crew working behind the camera. At least he’s giving work to people more talented then him ig

Without angus cloud it would feel cheap to do another season. All of the characters are amazing but fez was that unique element that brought it all together imo. Also they are just getting older and I feel like anytime a show tries extend beyond high school it becomes a totally different show. I’d love another season but I think they just missed the deadline unfortunately
Personally I don’t understand this critique. I see it everywhere, with people even saying it would be disrespectful to carry on with the show but this makes no sense to me. Hundreds of shows have lost actors mid series and are able to either write them off or recast them with no issue, and those are main characters. I don’t understand the idea that because of the death of an actor who played one of the smallest roles of the main cast, it would simply be impossible to carry on. I liked Fez, but he isn’t the glue that holds the series together by any means. He was a supporting character to the main character’s storylines
There was too much time between the seasons due to scheduling plus now we lost Angus Cloud, we can't have the show without Fez.

@@DisabledDoll they were apparently supposed to have began filming in May or June of last yr, usually the majority of a season is written by the time they enter production, and they did go as far as table reads for season 2 in March 2020 with plans to filming that April when COVID happened.
I was in high school when the first season came out. I was old enough to drink when the second season wrapped up. I am currently 23 years old. If Sam Levinson wanted to make a season 3, he definitely missed his window of opportinuty. I barely cared about the lives of high-schoolers as a high-schooler; so I definitely don't care about it as an adult in my mid-twenties
I found Euphoria awesome with the Rue and Jules stories, but the plotlines for Kat and the rest of the girls was so uncomfortable honestly. And the show had so many dropped plotlines (Kat's cam journey? Hello?) I feel like the content was so adult that it should have just been about adults. Euphoria should have been set in college, not in high school and about teenagers. I say this as an older fan of Skins, too. And it's not like I was a prude in high school, either.
I agree with that so much! Either a community college (since you see their families a lot so they’d be close to home) or a large university would’ve been a good setting. College students are still young, still going to get into situations, but would still make sense. Here’s to your idea hopefully going places! 🥂

I was 22 when season 1 came out, almost 25 when season 2 dropped, and now I'll be 28 when we might get season 3?? Or another way to put it into perspective, I had a friend get engaged right before season 1 came out, got married between seasons 1 and 2, and now her child will be two years old at the earliest season 3 will premiere. I like the vague idea of a show being around for different generations (i.e., the og degrassi in the 80s, followed by next generation in the early 2000s, etc.) but this is not how you do it.

I watched Season 1 when it aired, Season 2 wasn't really on my radar but the chaos on Twitter was too damn fun so I started tuning in. However I think that was more of a community thing that happened in response to the show, not because the show was well-made LMAO. That experience reminded me why I love the weekly release schedule and I definitely agree it was in the right place at the right time. Honestly the whole cast deserves to just move on with their careers

I enjoyed the season more as a cultural thing rather than for the content of the series itself. I remember how every Sunday seemingly everybody was tuning into it, twitter would go crazy, the songs from the episodes going viral on TikTok. Like it was fun, it sorta gave a lot of people a sense of community and that was more enjoyable than the storylines. I would not rewatch it but I would love to go back to that era if that makes sense?
I grew such a strong infatuation with Euphoria season 1 and would reminisce for several years after its release just because of the impact it had on me and my life. It truly shifted a lot of my perceptions on things and life felt so different during this time. I am so disappointed that season 1 will be the only thing I can look back on and be happy about. Imo there hasn’t been a show like Euphoria and the impact it initially had since 2019 and I wish the potential was consistent throughout the second season.

This was nice. First time watching any of your videos, I really enjoyed it. You kind of summarised some of my underlying feelings on Euphoria that I hadn't really been aware of until you put them into words. My attitude towards a third season is kinda I could take it or leave it ya know... I would love it if it came out the right way, wrapped up some of the open ends, gave us closure on some of the really interesting character journeys.
But I don't feel I desperately need a season 3...
Also I don't have faith that they'd actually do a good enough job.
I think it comes down to whether the cast is contractually obliged or not... HBO I'm sure will push with all their might for season 3, but I'm sure a large percentage of the cast would rather not bother...

Season 1 was so much better than season 2 because Euphoria was already a show, it's singular season Isre*li show. So Sam was able to piggyback from the show for season 1. Since the show didn't have a second season, Sam had to create a whole show on his own and he added fuel to the fire because he doesn't like people in his writers room when he can't write
He also (A L L E G E D L Y) stole the show’s entire visual aesthetic from photographer/director Petra Collins, so while he did obviously do a lot of work for season 1, the building blocks were already there for him to work off of and season 2 and The Idol proves that Euphoria season 1 was only good because he had those building blocks to start with

Oh wow I'm here so early! I agree, although I only watched the first season.
I liked Euphoria S2 but I was coming from spending a lot of time with a friend going through addiction and tbh S2 really captured that energy and it was cathartic for me to watch. I completely understand why other people didn't like it. I'm not really sure where the show would go in S3. If Rue is sober all summer where does she go from there? I think it would be realistic to have a relapse but again, with the characters aging I think you'd be telling a different story than the first two seasons and that's not necessarily what people watching S3 would be signing up for. So I can see how that could let everyone down even if it was good.
I still want euphoria season 3 to happen. Season 1 was amazing, season 2 was flawed but not as bad as everybody makes it out to be. I hope s3 is the last and final season but a great one.
Season one was only good because levinson stole the plot from the israeli euphoria and used Petra Collins visuals. Levinson would be incapable of making a good season 3 without stealing it from somewhere else
@@dotcom3015 I still have hope. I love Assassination Nation from Sam. The Idol wasn’t as bad as everybody it was good until the non-sensical final scene. Euphoria s2 was also rly good it just .. also had its issues. I think that all the negative feedback Sam has been getting might actually make him get himself together and write a great story from start to finish.

Season 1 was extremely over the top. I feel like it wanted to shock and raise awareness by presenting a confluence of events making it too unrealistic. Yes, these things happen in real life, teenagers deal with shit, but it was WAY too dark. To be frank, I believe that most of that stuff would be more prevalent during college years and 20s in general.
On the other hand, season 2 is way more grounded in reality. I know that Maddy’s and Cassie’s drama might seem shallow compared to the more serious themes of sexuality and violence in Season 1, but it’s something that is very common in students at these ages (16-18 years old). Teenagers fight a lot for such things and from what a remember from my experience (I am Gen Z btw), yes, there were kids that were going through rough times in my school. However, not everyone’s life was that depressing and dramatic.
Just my opinion.
Sammo needed to let go of the reins in the writing department for this show to flourish honestly. He has great style and vision aesthetically but holy Mack does his writing (for anyone except Rue ie his self insert) blow.
I hope we get a season 3, though it will likely be in 2026 or later. If not I would be happy with another sperical episode to tie everything up.

I totally agree about the timing. I had not really thought about it before. Season two was so bad. It was painful.
I’d be somewhat interested in a season three if Sam Levinson was let go tbh. If I remember correctly the cast was much more involved in the development of the characters in season one and the specials, I think they could bring that element back combined with a better show runner. I honestly am kinda intrigued by a time jump, or they could do something similar to what Skins did and do a cast reboot with a new show runner but set in the same universe.
Never saw Euphoria, but the more I hear about it, the more I’m convinced it’s an R rated, hifalutin Riverdale.

A new season is supposed to be out by next year. They halted production bcuz of the strike. The strike ended at my local film box office a few months ago, so everything is slowly getting back into their projects.

My wife binge watched the show next to me while i was playin video games. I caught parts of it and started to laugh. I said " this is just a soap opera"! She got mad and kept watching. When she finished season 2, she said; "You were right, it turned into a bad soap opera in the end". 😂😂😂
Personally I enjoyed S02. Not as good as S01, but it has great moments. And Rue's cop chase episode was one of my favorite TV moments of all time. It may be just me, but I really feel that people are a bit harsh on that season. It is still much better than any high school tv shows we have right now.

Personally, I see it like this: you are making a show, not a trailer. You can jam-pack it with good moments, but in the end it all has to serve the story, and the story has to make sense. For a story to make sense, the writer needs to respect the characters - who they are, what they've been through, and how they have changed along the way. Let's take Nate, for example: he wants Jules, he keeps Maddie, he does not respect Cassie. But season 2 had him in love with Cassie, cheating on Maddie and not interacting with Jules once. And that's not character, that was because the actors didn't like each other and the story changed because of that, not because it was the choice the character would make.

Isn't too late?? I mean, the actors are supposed to play teenagers, and most of them are getting closer to 30 if they aren't there already. I wasn't the target demographic for that show, but I enjoyed it to a certain degree. Although, I remembered discussing it with a friend of mine who is in the same age group, and we started to wonder if high school was so dramatic. Maybe the show was supposed to be an internal representation of what high school felt like? Season 1, for me, was obviously the best. I like the way it presented the characters. The actors were great and give it their best. The visuals were great. But, was disappointed to learn that the visual representation of Euphoria was stolen from the wonderful Canadian artist, Petra Collins. Season 2 was... mostly good for certain episode. I hated the fact that Sam Levinson would present plot point that clearly was anxiety inducing to finally completely abandoned these plots later on. Finally, I would say that after watching several productions from Sam Levinson, he seems to get off on using women, especially young girls, suffering central point to his stories. Which seems odd in retrospect. And also passing questionable messaging such as victims of SA aren't telling the truth or are lying or that having an intimacy coordinator on set is useless.
First watching Euphoria as a 14 year old in lockdown was, and this is exaggerated but true, life-changing, to say the least. For better or for worse (definitely made me feel like a late bloomer for not being sexy or taking drugs, especially when my peers did and posted it on tt,), it was still life-changing. Relatable but unique. Fantasy yet down-to-earth. Portraying teenagers, or at least an age I was yet to be, as ethereal, tortured, beings really stood out to me at 14. Now that I'm 18 years old and can say been there done that, now doing my own thing, I'd say Euphoria got stale minute season 2 finished. Euphoria served a moment in my life when I was a bored, isolated teenager, and it honestly should've stayed at that time.
Isn't it strange that in the world of Euphoria, everyone is accepted as he or she is and no one is bullied or dissed? Even absurdly obese or trans people. This is something that has always puzzled me. Granted, my school days are long behind me, but I can't imagine that this is no longer a thing.

HBO should honestly let the world pretend S2 never happened, have S1 made physical available on blu-ray and let fans just keep the memory as they want it.
I also don't think it will actually come back. Personally, I didn't love S1. And so many people, while entertained, hated S2 so I didn't even bother continuing. All the behind the scenes stuff with the cast and them seeming to have moved on- I mean, they're not even getting asked questions as far as I can tell with press some of them have done in the past year. Of the interviews I watched for Dune Part 2, Priscilla, Saltburn, Hunger Games, Anyone But You, Immaculate, and now Challengers, no interviewer or cast member mentioned Euphoria unless it was listing things the person is known for/in their filmography. Anyway, yeah, the stuff with the cast, the whole The Idol debacle, plus Levinson stealing from Petra Collins. Too much drama and not many people favorably care anymore.
i think euphoria s3 will most probably happen sometime soon because HBO really needs that show and the actors maybe also want to go out on a high but there’s no way i can see the show ever making it past s3. i think if s3 were to ever happen it’ll probably be the last one for euphoria.

as for Euphoria...I've never watched the show, but think i saw a meme from a friend that did and was kind of confused and weirded out by it. But the clip i thought was kind of weird and funny. Seeing the overall atmosphere around the premise and topic, didn't really sit so well with me. And I didn't think this was for me. I did like that weird Oklahoma scene with how confusing it was. Thought it was funny.
not sure about wanting it back or not since this show isn't for me. but i guess i'd say cancel I suppose?

but that is kind of interesting what you mentioned at the end as far as HBO not having a big breadwinner show like Succession right now, and I think it might be a while before the next season of the Game of Thrones Spin-off comes back.
The writing and plot in season one is actually really well executed and structured, which season 2 could not replicate. I think its a little harsh calling season 1 a fluke. I think it's Sams best work because he said everything he wanted to say during season 1 and I don't think he could really offer much more after that besides "shock value" for season 2. Themes surrounding addiction and what kind of person that makes you were already thoroughly explored in the first season, so this new chapter to the story felt more like an afterthought. The themes are also not that complex; you either have empathy for addicts or you don't, and the discussion pretty much stops there.
I loved seasons 1 & and 2, but if it's anything like the finale season of Sex Education i won't be watching. The whole show shifts if poignant characters are missing and they run out of material.
"Skins/Pretty Little Liars/Degrassi" and my first thought was of "My So-Called Life." Damn, I'm old.
I really liked season 1 and I thought season 2 was just okay but I feel the only way a season 3 would work is i there was no time jump and they followed up on the fezco cliff hanger they left us on but clearly at this point that is not possible. It would be better just to end the show instead of it just getting a season 3 and it being really bad

I haven't watched Euphoria or the Idol and I'm not sure I'll ever watch something by Sam Levinson. He isngiving me major creeps. There is something about this guy that it's just.... No.

i think it's rude to blame zendaya for the delay as if she's the only person on the show and shes an actress she's gonna take other roles that's her job and she tries to give out ideas but sam keeps turning them down...
i knew this show was going downhill for 2 reasons in my personal thoughts/opinions:
(1) once barbie left and angus past something told me that they’ll delay because now they have to rewrite the script cutting both former cast members out.
(2) after rewatching the series for the first time in a while, i immediately turned it off bc of the type of trajectory it left on us in 2019-2022 and how overwhelming it feel to see graphic the content was.
i just don’t know where the show is gonna go now that rue’s been sober and look’s healthier now. i think sam should just leave the show at that

I feel like this is the show that Greg Araki should have made. He did a pilot for mtv back in the 90’s that never got picked up. He did the show Now Apocalypse back in 2019 but it was cancelled after 10 episodes

The show died to me the moment we lost Angus Cloud. Him and Zendaya were the glue that was holding together an incredibly disastrous season 2 and I couldn’t imagine a show without his presence. I think season two is a nightmare trash pile of a season but I can’t erase it from my mind, since it was the smallest taste of what Angus Cloud was capable of as an actor and we won’t get to see what he could have become as a performer so it seems almost in bad taste to continue even without all the other drama and issues with the show
I am old and uncomfy watching actors portraying teenagers in really dicey situations. I watched Gossip Girl (the first iteration) and it was stupid fun. Euphoria was clearly not for my demographic and I couldn't make it past the first 30 minutes. If I were the show runner, and I cared about this show - just do a Dawson's Creek, put them 10 years in the future and tie it all up in a nice little bow. It's better than what happened with Freaks and Geeks, sigh.
I can write season 3 of euphoria and do it better than sam without all of that money and actors

Ive never watched euphoria because everything I’ve seen is just a glorified romanticized version of what I’ve already been through. I’m 24 and already 5 years sober… watching this show would do horrible shit to my mental health. I can’t even imagine being an actor in recovery on this show

The issue about Hunter and Jacob not getting along always been dumb to me bc even if you hate a person, it's your job. They're both actors, they could've sucked it up for the good of the story (if levinson could've capped it off good enough) but they didn't. That being said, kudos for whoever was in charge to listen to their actors and provide a comfortable (ish?) atmosphere for filming, considering that an entire storyline was abandoned due to them not getting along.
