Food processing technology has gone beyond my expectation..my salute to the engineers and technologist creating these wonderful machines and ensuring they work well.
What I want to know is how these machines get cleaned and sanitized and how often that occurs; especially the ones that handle eggs, dairy and meat/poultry/fish production.
Obviously this is old but processing machines get sanitized at the end of either shift. However many plants make multiple orders/recipes so the entire line has to be santized entirely before the next order begins.
Allergen are processed separately , lines are cleaned fallowing GMPs every changeover has to be sign by sanitation technicians in charge of cleaning the line. Some companies have specific lines to run allergen products to avoid cross contamination
oh rubbish.. thousands maybe millions of jobs have been lost to machines.. why else do people end up on the streets, sleeping in low standard cages in china or in slums.. jobs are lost and i cannot feel happy for the 1 percent who use the so called operators who are mindless human machines .. so Mr engineer.. think before you give credit to machines, robots AI
Perhaps less chance of hepatitis, e-coli, or other human-related microbes from this assembly line, but still a chance from the source of vegetables if there are raw leafy veggies in the case of sandwiches. And someone else pointed out the risk of bugs or rats travelling through the system unless one periodically sterilizes the system as a preventive maintenance.
Your videos are pretty decent, but please, please stop that very annoying music. I beg of you. I could not watch the rest of the video because I was getting a headache from the music.
Cool video but whose job is it to clean all the food contact surfaces in the plant? All those cutting blades, mixing bowls, conveyors etc. I'm pretty sure most of the equipment can be disassembled to be cleaned to prevent cross contamination between production runs of different food products.
I love the precision in these machines. I work in a food plant (I wont say where) that seems to belive that quantity is more important than quality, and it makes me sad to know how much waste we produce each day. I wish that we could come close to the same level of neatness and precision as your machines.
i'm an engineer and i feel sad when people start complaining about robotic and machine automation involved in manufacturing and steal a job. People still exist in these type of manufacturing but they are not involved directly in the field, they watch this process from control room and we call them the operator, they control this process from computer and camera, and a squad of technician is ready if this machine having a trouble and need to fix. People involved in laboratory to check the quality of the food. Engineer also design and doing some modification to a machine, if there's new menu to cook. chef in there to create and test a new recipe. Machine may replace some job but create a new job and new opportunity. AI or artificial intelligent is like any other software, they only design for a very specific task and any "artificial" thing will never exceed the natural thing. Trust me, i'm an engineer.
It replaces a lot more jobs than it makes. You said you need people or a person as an operator, a squad of technicians, and people in a lab to test the food. The lab part was already a thing before the machines and i doubt that a squad of technicians and an operator would outnumber more than 200 workers working on a line. Sure it makes the food more consistent and cheap, but at the expense of our jobs. These automated machines only make the rich richer and the poor poorer, production only costs big companies a fraction of what it used to because of new automated machines.
Yes, these systems replace jobs, "reduces headcount" (I hate that term). But in making the food less expensive it makes it possible for more people to afford it. Mechanization has reduced the requirements for some manufacturing jobs (as shown dramatically in these videos), but at the same time it raises our standard of living.
it's part of industrial evolution and industrial revolution, no one can stop it, many job vanished since first industrial revolution and now, the fourth revolution is coming and more job are vanished. All we can do is flow with it, take advantage from it. Increasing our skill, learn something new and BE CREATIVE, because creativity is the only reason why human can survive. this is a good article, you can find more explanation : www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/01/the-fourth-industrial-revolution-what-it-means-and-how-to-respond/
I hope they also make such splendid machines for trash processing and recycling... To close the circle. Given that such as these make so much waste thru packaging alone... It's not that impossible anymore right? I'd enjoy such a video...
ashish javanjal . These videos are really nice but who will provide Jobs for those who are jobless after these upgrades . Many thanks for this one. Amazing! I am not a fan of "factory food". Nonetheless, isn't it wonderful to see how meals are made for humans in a factory without the presence of humans!
So you employ ONE person and he pushes the same buttons all day long. Wow, he has an exciting job. So he gets a raise once in a while for pushing the button even faster.
They probably get bagged up and sold at the factory outlet...I remember going to a cookie factory where they sold cheap cookies in huge industrial sized bags and there were times when they sold Oreo crumbs and chocolate covered marshmallows...they were great
Have installed machinery in food processing/packaging facilities. They run 3 8hr shifts a day. 1 shift is 8hr of sanitation. Factories are cleaner then hospital operation rooms. The workers do care. This video is super interesting and I love how it showcases the technology behind meal production. However, I can't help but wonder if these processed meals are really as healthy as they claim. With so many additives and preservatives, do we really know what we're putting in our bodies? Just my thoughts!

For sure a food safety officer is there to monitor

This is what I usually buy every lunch break at work. 7/11 lifestyle.
Ive never seen so many happy production workers!

Engineers will :D
