    this is pretty emotional for me. I've never seen this interview before, and I've been a Hillel student since 1989 when I first discovered the Chilli's. seeing new / old interviews with him after all this time... is pretty special. he changed my life. made me play guitar, hear music in a different way. there was noone playing like him in 1984. I would give everything I have to go back and see Alain and Hillel and Chris and Jack back then. It's a shame Jack and Hillel ditched Alain and Natasha to go back to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and even worse Hillel dying so young.
    Alain recounts how heart broken he was when he got the call about it. It destroyed him for a long time cause they were all close high school friends.

      What a stupid comment. There was nobody playing guitar the way he did then, and there's nobody doing it now. His style is his own, and you hear it in every single thing John Frusciante ever did. But he's just a knock off generic version of the real innovator, Hillel.

    • @LobotomyMeat
      @LobotomyMeat 4 роки тому +4

      @@IOooiiiooOI Don't have an aneurysm....Take your blood pressure meds before you have a stroke. If you're going to label something as stupid, you may want to avoid following that up with a statement in which you contradict yourself. First you say, "there was nobody playing guitar the way he did then, and there's nobody doing it now." Then you go on to say that, "you hear it in every single thing John Frusciante ever did." So which one is it? I never said he was a bad player. I never compared him to John Frusciante. I just think he has a limited range. There's nothing he did that wasn't done before, in terms of technique. What was unique about him was how he meshed with the rest of the RHCP. That had a freshness to it at the time, but I promise you, I could easily pick him out of a blind line up by just listening to him perform, in the same way I could hear BB King, or Buddy Guy, or Stevie Ray Vaughan, or Jimi Hendrix, and instantly know it's them, based on their style.
