    We opened for What Is This (with The Bone Daddy's and Fishbone headlining) with my band InsectAffect; plus, I went to see them at least 3 times live, (at The Music Machine on Pico Blvd, and other clubs) and Flea not only played bass, but also played trumpet on their best song, Get Off The Floor. I wish that video was still around with Flea wearing a dress and flopping about on the train tracks. Alain and the rest of the band was so wicked, and much better than the RHCP, and we were so bummed when What Is This split.
    In this song, he's saying "I still have my mind", but reversed. We would dance and jump around in a sweaty pogo mess all show. Killa band. Hillel and Jack Irons were great too. They were like punk jazz fusion. Unique.
    These are days of reflexion, My head is a drum, so many songs that still ring through the chasm of my skull.
    Thanks for posting What Is This.

      Right; it's "I Still Have My Mind" backwards, intentionally. it's amazing the video show graphics person got it so incorrect.

    Musically this anticipates the later sound of Eleven (also Alain's band, also with Jack Irons). Cool song. Good to see Hillel alive.

      Justin Brule Hillel and the drummer *Jack Irons* the last rejoined to RHCP at the 3rd album "The Uplift Mofo Party Plan". *Curious fact* : The singer Alan Johannes is the son of a 60s singer *from Chile* (South America) Danny Chilean.

    The video isn't very good. But, this song, turned up really loud? It's great. It stuck in my head for all these years. I couldn't remember the band, or the song title. Then recently, an old friend gave me a box of records. This was in there.
    This was Flea's, of Chili Peppers fame, first band. He was a horn player before this. He must have some natural talent. Cause he just started playing bass here with these guys

      1st off this music video is amazing and way ahead of its time and chalk full of creativity. 2nd off this is not even fleas band Hillel asked flea to play bass for him the first time and he had two bands, one with flea and Anthony, and WIT

    • @seaminer5894
      @seaminer5894 Рік тому

      If you don't know, this was the first video of Wayne Isham, but it never figures in his resume. Another fact, Alain Johannes taught to Flea to play bass at Hillel house for a battle of bands during 3 months. You can Alain's career is really awesome, no matter he isn't public famous.

      @Soul_Removal Рік тому

      @@TheStompboxer No they didn’t. Anthony stated in his book that he would come on stage after Anthem (What is This?) and RAO random words with Hillel, Michael & Jack.

    • @TheStompboxer
      @TheStompboxer Рік тому

      @@Soul_Removal There’s an interview with Alain and Hillel about this very video (which led me here) where Hillel talks about having left RHCP because it was tough doing both. They shared members, but Keidis was never in WIT, and they were two different bands.
      I didn’t say RHCP existed before WIT; I said they existed before “this,” meaning the video we’re commenting on.

    • @Soul_Removal
      @Soul_Removal Рік тому

      @@TheStompboxer I never stated Anthony was in WIT? either. Lol Yes, most people are aware they where 2 different bands at the time, but that doesn’t neglect the fact that Anthony would come up & jam with WIT after their setlist was over. Which is very cool. I’m just glad that Hillel came back to the Chili’s so we could get all of these awesome songs. If only he was still alive who knows what’s songs/albums would’ve been made.

    • @TheStompboxer
      @TheStompboxer Рік тому

      @@Soul_Removal “The original” lineup of a band isn’t usually a completely different band that existed at the same time. Of course I know the connection between the two; that’s the only reason anybody really remembers WIT at this point, though I’m sure there are a handful of exceptions.
