- Welcome! where are my DIYers? In today’s video, we are doing a DIY project for our spare bedroom. Beforehand, we had not purchased a bedframe for our spare bedroom. So, this was a perfect opportunity to save money, and make an affordable bed frame for our guest room. We wanted to keep this project around $150 and we stayed on budget. This was a simple and fun project, that I feel like any one can do. It does not take that many materials or tools to complete. now, this wasn’t one of those fancy complicated builds. This was made to be simple and easy as I said before. I hope you guys enjoy the video and don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe.
MEASUREMENTS & MATERIALS 👇🏾
Bottom Frame
42inches (2) width
65inches (2) length
39inches (3) inner support beams
Top Frame
80inches (2) length
60 inches (2) width
57 1/4 inches (4) (approximately for inner support beams)
make sure to triple check your measurements. These were MY measurements. Your measurements might be a little different, but they should be approximately around the same for the queen size bed frame. Also, make sure to measure your own mattress. That is very important. The mattress we have have measured 81 inches.
I did add additional support to the bed so our mattress didn’t sink between the other support beams and corners.
MATERIALS
2x6 (12) also used the scrap 2x6s for support as needed
2x4 (4) these were scrap pieces laying around from other projects
I super appreciate a diy video where the creator is keeping it super real without even a workbench. Cuz a lot of these videos are like “super easy diy!” And then turns out they have $5k worth of tools and stuff 😅 so thank you for showing how to do it in less than desirable circumstances ❤😊
Lol I know. I wish I had half the tools they have. Overtime maybe 🤷🏾♂️ but will always keep it real and simple. So, Thank you! I appreciate that. I enjoy doing diy project. Even with the little tools I have. I still need to build a workbench though haha.
Best comment for real💯💯
Good job. Reminded me of 30 years ago when water beds were all the rave. The top was covered with plywood is the only difference.
Thank you!
Haha, really. I can’t say I’ve ever come across a water bed.
Thanks for making this. Been looking through floating bed videos, and I think this is the one I'm gonna base my build off of. Also 2x6's were a good choice. Looks better than the usual 2x8's. Respect 👊🏼
Much appreciated! Yeah, the 2x8s have a larger profile than I like.
@@SirErv18 Finished last night. Nice job. Worked out great!
Cool video 😊
I like this video.
Thanks. More to come

Appreciate it. Hope it turns out great!
Looks like I got here early in your UA-cam journey. You've earned a subscriber and looking forward to seeing your growth! Great build... gave me plenty of ideas, thank you.
Thank you. I appreciate it!
Awsome vid. thanks for sharing you plans and idea. Just what I was looking for...
Thank you for your support and commenting 🙏🏾
@rrwa1234 I built this *exact* thing on the channel I maintain years ago. Nice video though.
Definitely gonna try this. Your helper is super cute too! What length led lights did you use?
Hi there, great video. But I only have one question. What did you put to support the mattress once the frame was built? I've seen some youtubers do some frames with the dividers but haven't really seen anyone place a board or boards on top of the bed frame
wouldn't it have been better to put the support boards for the smaller box, vertical? instead of horizontal. This way when the bigger box boards lay in a cross pattern when on top of the smaller box
new subbbb
appreciate it!
Love the video and the design big dawg! Just curious for the whole project how much would you say everything costed with just materials. Not including the LED lights
Sorry for the late response Holden. I would say the materials were around $100.
I have a queen size bed and was thinking about the doing the same thing what are the measurements you used for the bottom box of the bed? And wouldn’t 2x8s be better?
The bottom frame measurements are in the description. And that depends on your preference. If you want a slightly higher profile off the floor, then sure, go with 2x8s. I I had thought about 2x8s but wanted the lower profile look.
Is there no box spring
What was the spacing on the supports inside frame
good sht bro!
Much appreciated fr!
What the size for the bottom base
What are the measurements for the bottom frame support beams?
Measurements for the bottom frame is in the description.
We’re u in the marine corps ?
Why would I need to sand my wood?
you don’t have to. It’s just a step I took to remove some of the sharp corners and smooth it out.
What was the length of the initial 2x4/2x6
The 2x6s I bought were 8ft
Hey quick question. Are measurements in the description corrected for after you remeasured and bought more wood, or are they before you realized?
They are the corrected and final measurements. I did a little too much subtracting at the beginning haha.
