My kid is crying in the other room but I don't care. I'm playing on BADDAD

That was such a bad dad joke.
Didn't see dat coming

Man... That is so underrated...

QuackSpeed that is awesome and quite clever
You haven’t seen the shirts, have ye? “Gsus saves” under a chord diagramz
2:38 "that's a Gsus2"
oh boy i cant wait for gsus3: he's alive again
Underrated
Lmao
Gsus4 is definitely gonna be the last in the franchise. I can’t see a Gsus5 being made.

Almost all the Gsus chords are primarily used in Christian music. 🤦
So basically every chord makes you play Wonderwall?
Tyler Reddick MAYBEEEEE
DADGAD is a beautiful, versatile tuning, it can be used to play all styles of music, once you explore the tuning you will discover that you can play many different soundscapes.
DADGADFLOW you guys should totally follow this guy, his channel name says it all
@@dadgadflow439 that has literally nothing to see with what he said, no one asked for an opinion of this tuning
DADGADFLOW How bout reggae?
You should get a 7 string and play CABBAGE
LOL XD
This ain't Davie504
@@chrisnguyen1186 Rob Scallon already did this
But can he play it with a cabbage ? wait wrong channel
OMG
If Batman was a 7-string metal guitarist, the tuning would be DEADDAD.
If Jerry Garcia had played 7-string he would have played DEADDAD!
Holy shit that was hillarious XD
That tuning is musically stupid. Batman is not stupid.

I learned this from my dad 20 years ago because he was a huge Led Zeppelin fan. It was my standard tuning for YEARS. Over the years though I noticed that every church worship band guitarist uses DADGAD too much (with delay and reverb, and so on...) so I adopted my own tuning: FADFAC. Been using it for about 12 years now.
i just tuned to fadfac and it actually sounds amazing for blues
I wanted to display my disapproval of alternative tunings, with ultimate hipster irony, so I play in BADFAD. 😂🤣😂
I know lots of people that use that tuning
FAT FACK
i'm more of FAGDAD player myself
That high D note on all the chords is incredibly irritating after a while.
nbfdmd read my mind
Exactly. The high D was annoying after the first 5 minutes. Better off having a synth in the background playing it softer if he wants meditation music.
nbfdmd I scaled the comments to see if I was the only one who felt that. I don’t know why it’s so annoying to my ear
@@gabbishleegifted4752 cos it's in literally every single cord he played.. its almost like al those cords are just the same
YESSS ITS FUCKING KILLING ME
I want an 8-string guitar so I can play in BEEGDEEC tuning
I don't know why but I do too. : )
hahaha
You could write a song with this chord progression in strandard.
Sounds like a chinaman saying big dick

DADGAD is easily my favorite tuning at this time. I use Nashville (standard EADGBE) on my acoustic, but DADGAD on my electric and classical. My question is this: *Why don't instructors show people the chord shapes on DADGAD tuning for basic chords?* E is xx2122, or 222122 with the bass strings. A is x02242 and Am is x02232. These shapes can be used at any fret to make other chords. Playing Pachelbel's Canon, or other progressions using the circle of fifths is relatively easy, so why not demonstrate them?
That’s a VERY good point and I was watching this video to see if he would do that but ....
I tune my guitar to DDDDDD because I love the D

I replayed 4:25 over and over again. I love this kind of sound
Left a guitar sitting forever, then picked it up to discover it was basically in CGCF#GD. I have loved that tuning ever since

Thank you man, so much. I have seen so many dadgad vids that pailed in exclamatory effectiveness.
Honestly love what you do man you help inspire so many people man. Keep up the great work man!
Tyler is killing it as always. Have a good day guys.
I've been writing/playing DADGAD for 15 years, and it's always kept me on my toes. The other one that I love is DADGCD. Not sure if there's a name for it, but I think of it as the "happier" version of DADGAD. It can be heard on most Sevendust and Dark New Day songs.
Can you make a middle-eastern song using BAGDAD?
not really
its myxolydian
Badgum
It may not work well for every person's voice or every instrument, but I tune my Taylor down a full step from DADGAD to CGCFGC and get warmer tones. I use it for "Can't Find my Way Home," "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," Jack Bruce's "As You Said" among others. That CGCFGC tuning allows me to flat the number 3 string a half step and get a C-major open chord that' s great for bottleneck on "No Expectations" and others.
Love DADGAD. Such a beautiful sound and so versatile
DADGAD is my "go to" tuning when I feel stagnant & it seems like I'm playing the same old songs. I've used alternate tunings a lot over the years & it's amazing how this can really inspire you to play & jump start some creativity simply by trying out a different tuning. I love how it changes the colors of the sound-scape in a way that almost feels like you're discovering new chords. That D'Angelico sounds fantastic in that tuning! Now I'm gonna have to check those out.........GAS never sleeps! Keep doing the good stuff!!! 🤘😁🤘
Joni Mitchell has always used Crazy tunings
This has always been my favorite tuning, my guitar teacher never really understood why I liked it so much until he actually heard me play himself. It just sounds good
I’m actually using DADGAD on my baritone Jazzmaster using a set of BassVI strings. It’s great!
you are living my dream
When I was in Iraq my guitar was tuned to BAGDAD
hahaaahaha!
YOO these jokes are amazing
*Plays beautiful, soft acoustic licks for 12 minutes*
"Until next time, keep shredding \m/ "
Yes I felt that was pretty incongruous too.
Jimmy page is a damn genius that’s all I have to say. I personally really enjoy tuning my 12 strings Taylor in Open Cm with thick gauges on it, and it sounds amazing , although I do “dig” on tuning the guitar in different tones but it all comes to one think only, being creative. Good job man , like your videos
Sounds very "Fall" or "Autumn" like. I don't know how to explain it. Just what I feel.
the more u learn the more u will know how to explain it . it then it very much helps to communicate with other musicians. sounds VERY douchy what i said but its still a fact
Matthew Rhodes the lower tuning sounds a bit more ‘melancholic’ and i think most of us just naturally associate the gloominess of autumn with sadness
What a great way to describe it!
Wtf, why do you have the same name as my Dad?
@@memoXX1 brilliantly said!
Very impressive, but can you play DABDAB tuning while dabbing?

Really cool stuff...Well Done 👍🏻👍🏻Im from Ireland and we use this Tuning a lot for old Irish Songs but with Capo we love it...Keep up the great work🙏👍🏻🇮🇪👍🏻
Thanks for this lesson. It was eye opening and has helped me get out of ruts, especially on the acoustic. Very exciting.
Thank you for all the knowledge you share. You rock! 🤘
On a more serious note; halfway through I went and tuned my acoustic and made a few minor backing tracks to play some melodies along with and OH MY GOD can you play some beautiful somber melodies on top of these chords! I love that you can use a lot of accidentals to create some tension and resolution in places where I never really felt that standard tuning chords let me do. Also just have fun building chords from ear and seeing where things go. Thanks for sharing!
This is possibly the best DADGAD video I've seen, well done Tyler
This really bails me out of the hole I was stuck in for my "8 Hours Of Acoustic Guitar And Ocean Sounds To Cure Insomnia" video. Thanks!
DADGAD and DADGCC are two of my favorite alternate tunings.
DADGAD is perfect for Celtic Music.
That guitar sounds like the music you would get for the final scenes of a very emotional movie. Its so good!
Excellent video. Learned loads, thank you.
I love this tuning!!! It really makes it much easier to transition
Dadgad is probably my favorite tuning, I started making amazing progress once I finally just threw my guitar in dadgad and quit tuning back up to standard. Open tunings are a great way to understand something really complex like modes and scales without having to actually learn or know what a mode is. Truly worked wonders for my progress as a guitar player, drop d is really fun too.
My friend asked me how to make his guitar sound good. I said tune it DADGAD and throw it down the stairs. It will sound great.
Love the huge reverb on your voice for a split second after you play
Excellent video tutorial. Very easy to follow. Got me playing in DADGAD straight away. Many Thanks.
I used to be terrified of playing around with alternate tunings but I am really excited to try this one
Anybody else getting bagpipe vibes at 10:55?
i think you mean traditional folk vibes 👍
Dadgad is sometimes called celtic tuning because it’s used by trad irish and scottish guitarists a lot. It’s a drone based tuning and the bagpipes are a drone based instrument
I CLOSE MY EYES, INIS MONA!
Yes. Bagpipes inherently have a drone tone in the bass so....you see right there
me yes fat bagpipe vibes
Best, most inspirational DADGAD video on UA-cam!
I literally played for an hour straight from this lesson. I appreciate the good content.

this is so awesome! I cant wait to get home and try this out
If I ever need to relax, I'm just going to listen to MIW talk and play acoustic guitar. Thank you for calming me down
If you were a fan of Dashboard Confessional... and played guitar... you were forced to learn this tuning. It has a really cool sound! Best Deceptions by DBC was the first song I learned in this tuning.
Great clip mate :) you answered all my questions about this tuning.

Awesome stuff glad I found myself watching this video, you're one of the best channels for guitar lessons/guitar info!
Heard so much of Colin Hay in this tuning demonstration. Just beautiful!
Anything that means you don't have to do barre chords is ace in my opinion.
Always good to have loads of strings to your bow. I'm coming to think dadgad should be your first string.
It instills confidence if you can play some songs straight as soon as possible. May sound horrible to experienced guitarists but who cares about them.
You're still barring dad or you could bar with your third finger dad and first finger barring the whole step back
Is it just me or does every chord sound the same?
Enjoyed the demo, that tuning is dreamy. On Father’s Day I wrote a song for my father in DADDAD tuning.
Great video as always. That Earthworks X-Y really helps that clear tone too!
Why does your bass have 6 strings?
Brilliant video I never new so much could be done with dadgad ,I never really thought much about the chord's when I used the tuning.
Bro. That was beautiful.

This is a KILLER vid...ive been playing for 61 years and i never knew about this ....waaaaaaaat coooool
Try DADFAD. It's probably my favorite alternative tuning. John Fahey liked to use it with songs like Red Pony or Wine and Rose.
Rocky Wood Mmmm, Bentonia/Dm - Skip James used it a lot, sounds beautiful!
DADFAD for that famous Pnk Floyd, Welcome to the Machine, baroque sound.
Every time I hear ABADAD tuning, it reminds me of the old man dancing around like a queen.
