Oh Ellen when you are so generous no one should question your method let alone be rude I actually like the soap as you said it’s a masculine fragrance and I think a very masculine design. May I first thank you for inspiring me across the last few years to try new things and second to wish you and your family a safe and Happy Christmas with love from down under
The bars are definitely cool and masculine looking! I enjoy watching all of your soapy/lotion creations, but seeing this big batch was nostalgic for me! Fabulous work as always 🧼💜
Ellen I bet your soap smells heavenly. This is your recipe and your channel, you are sharing with us not forcing anyone to conform in any way. I personally love your recipes and your channel. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your family…🎄🎄🎄🎠🎁
The soap came out so pretty. My boys and I made soaps, lotions, and body butters for their teachers this year for their Christmas gifts. My 11 year old got a head in science class because after Christmas break his class is going to be having a science fair so he documented the entire process from start to finish on making his soap and lotion.
It reminds me of camouflage but better -- appropriate because winter is hunting season. My favorite happy little accident is the running greyhound in white on the side of the third loaf. I'm so glad you've continued to make videos after your retirement. I hope your husband is doing well.
Love watching you make soap, Ellen! I find your videos so relaxing and look forward to your uploads every week. I've been making soap as a hobby now for almost five years and I had always done a total weight of soap for my fragrances and essential oils. I joined a few online soaping groups, and noticed that there can be a lot of judgement when it comes to how things are done. But I totally agree with you, there's so much room for making things our own way! Thanks for sharing your soapy joy with us all! Merry Christmas!
I’ve always measured my fragrance by oil weight . I’m excited about trying it your way! 😂 I’ve been disappointed with some fragrances that I’ve used that don’t seem as strong as I thought they would.
Love these; Ms. Ellen! What am I saying? I have loved all your soaps. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. If what you do works for you keep doing it. Everyone has their own way of doing things. That is what keeps life interesting. Thanks again for sharing with us. God bless you and Merry Christmas.🎄🎁 ❤️🐝
OMG! I’m so excited! My mind is blown for sure 👍. I only started making soap a little more than a year ago and I can’t even remember how I learned to use your fragrance percentage off your oils, but that’s how I’ve always done it. I’ve been so disappointed in some fragrances that haven’t been as strong as I was hoping for, so this totally changes things for me, in a good way! Thank you so much for sharing that topic with us and I for one thinks it’s amazing! I can’t wait to try it with some of those scents I thought I wouldn’t use again because of the lack of strength of them. I like strong smelling soaps can ya tell lol 😂 thanks again! I really had no idea that was another option for how to calculate FO! Yay 🥳 and Merry Christmas! These soaps are so beautiful! 💜
Ive been making your soaps for a while and never a problem so I will always follow your advice. The pink and black bar was my best seller this yr. Thank you and Happy Holidays to you and your family.
I love it thank you so much !! It looks wonderful ❤love your presentation and love how nice you are. Such a sweet soap maker! very pretty too 😊 Im definitely picking up masculine winter vibes. Happy Holidays!
I love watching your videos. I look forward to them and they act as a stress free activity for me. I calculate fragrance based on my oil amount, but I may want to try your method to see how it works. That’s the beauty of soap making, you get to do one thing different ways to figure out what works for you, your recipe and methods. Keep up the great work. I’ve learned so much from your channel. Love the soap! 🥰
Happy Holidays Ellen to you and your family. Wishing you and hubby lots of health for coming year. This soap is beautiful love the color choice, and loved to see you using your 5lb mold. Thanks for sharing. Like I always say you are the best.
I always love your videos and the calmness of your teaching ability. Thank you for continuing to share your talent and knowledge of soap making and other projects. You are my Favorite ❤️ Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄🎄
I think the soaps look great and definitely give Christmas vibes. Thank you for your videos. I love watching, and I've learned so much from you. God bless and Merry Christmas!
Thank you Ellen gonna try calculating my fo the way you said. I am never happy with my fragrance being strong enough. Merry Christmas to you n yours.. thank you for everything you do for the soaping community, it means alot. You are my inspiration..
My great- granny (104 years old RIP 1990) taught me how to make and scent soap naturally(Roses, rosemary, pine sap) and she used the total weight of the batter to do so. I think doing so is the original way it was done since she learned from her great grandmother, grandmother and mother how to do it. I do it that way, as well. I've never had anyone say my soaps are harsh or irritated their skin. I have family and friends who'd tell me or slap me silly if the soap irritated their skin. LOL. Just kidding gang, it's a southern expression. I think each to his/her own.
I love the look of hte bars. That is interesting in including your fragrance as a part of the liquid if I am understanding that right, I have not done that yet. As for your friend who has an oat allergy, is she celiac? I am and have to get certified gluten free oats to use. This recipe sounds great! I live just an hour and a half away from Brambleberry, I love their line of products!
Thank you so much all of your videos. You explain things and I feel much more confident after learning from you. May I ask what company you purchased the Mahogany Balsam fragrance from? Thanks and have a very blessed and Merry Christmas!
@EllenRuthSoap I understand that and willing to do that. I'm asking what is a good alternative for the palm kernel oil that will still get the soap the same properties?
Wait! We can dissolve mica in water? I never knew this, Ellen so thank you for educating me. Do you subtract that water amount from the amount allocated to the lye? I hope that makes sense.
The water in you micas is that part of the water in your lye solution, or is it just a bit added? Hope I ask that right. I am not always clear on my questions.😊
I’m going to give you a tip that will revolutionize your pouring technique, turn the big water and aloe jugs on their side!!! Ask me how I know! I very much enjoyed this and all your videos, thank you. Merry Christmas 🎄
I find that mixing the mica with oil doesn't work super well for me. I am going to try water next time. I have been adding 1 oz per 3 pound batch, but I find my soap sometimes doesn't hold the fragrance as well. I don't like maksey scents they aren't strong enough. Midwest and Brambleberry are the best.
Hmmmm…..so can any of ya’ll imagine Prince and Michael Jackson insisting they both had to make music the same way? That would have been boring and uninteresting. Same thing here, let the people fragrance the way they were taught ultimately making great soap independent of how someone else does it. Love me some fragrance in my soap! Happy Holidays everyone!
Ellen thank you for your time, patience, kindness and wonderful detailed tutorials! I appreciate the fact you share recipes......you're the best!
Thank you so much! 🎄

You’re so kind, thank you for the lovely sentiment 🎄
Your channel IS pure joy. Everyone has their own thoughts on formulas - that's what makes the world go 'round!
Thanks 🎄❄️
The bars are definitely cool and masculine looking! I enjoy watching all of your soapy/lotion creations, but seeing this big batch was nostalgic for me! Fabulous work as always 🧼💜
Thanks! I love making big batches! 🎄
I think the soap is gorgeous. A winter, woodsy soap. The white reminds me of snow and the pop of red is Christmas. It looks groovy too! ❤
Thanks! I'm glad you love it! 😊🎄
Ellen I bet your soap smells heavenly. This is your recipe and your channel, you are sharing with us not forcing anyone to conform in any way. I personally love your recipes and your channel.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your family…🎄🎄🎄🎠🎁
Thank you so much! Merry Christmas 🎄
It looks Amazing. I m getting the Hunting Vibe with the design
So pretty! I love a more masculine smelling bar especially this time of the year.
It turned out so pretty! It kind of reminds me of a Yule Log! And the perfect scent for it too!!!
I think men will really like this! It’s not frilly and “dainty”! PERFECT for the men we love!❤️ ❤❤❤
Happy Holidays Ellen! I use the weight of the entire batch when calculating my fragrance oils. I also use the Brambleberry calculator at times.
👍🎄
I love watching your videos! This soap is beautifully unique and colorful. Some of them do look like wood grain. Thanks for bringing us along!
Thanks 🎄
Every single bar look as a paint mural. They are stunning. Thank you
Thank you so much! I love how the swirls turned out too. 🎄

What a great idea!
That's a great idea to do that.
Wow, I love this so much! Give him a hug from me🎄💕
Oh Ellen Ruth these are beautiful bars of soap.. I love them❤
Love it, Christmas camouflage.
It reminds me of camouflage but better -- appropriate because winter is hunting season. My favorite happy little accident is the running greyhound in white on the side of the third loaf. I'm so glad you've continued to make videos after your retirement. I hope your husband is doing well.

Those soap swirls are fabulous ! Merry Christmas!!

Happy Holidays Ellen to you and your family
I like the way they came out..very manly for the fragrance.😊
I made bath salts with this scent and it smelled so good! I think this could be a unisex scent. I loved it!
I love the design of that bar.I think its beautiful.I would love one.I might try to make me a batch.😃
Thank you 🎄

Very dark and mysterious. ❤❤
My great- granny (104 years old RIP 1990) taught me how to make and scent soap naturally(Roses, rosemary, pine sap) and she used the total weight of the batter to do so. the patterns remind me of the painting The Scream. Looks like a rich bar - how was the lather?
Love this! I was concerned when you first poured that it would be muddy, but it is beautiful ! Merry Christmas.
Thanks, Merry Christmas 🎄
That reminds me of a sorta woodland camo.
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas! 🎄
I love the look of hte bars. That is interesting in including your fragrance as a part of the liquid if I am understanding that right, I have not done that yet. As for your friend who has an oat allergy, is she celiac? I am and have to get certified gluten free oats to use. This recipe sounds great! The friend that asks for oat free isn’t celiac, but has a skin reaction..
I think they look kind of camo -y and cool 😎
Thanks🎄
Thank you so much all of your videos. You explain things and I feel much more confident after learning from you. May I ask what company you purchased the Mahogany Balsam fragrance from? Thanks and have a very blessed and Merry Christmas!
I got this scent from Morouge Canada
What is a great substitute for the palm kernel oil?
If you sub an oil in a CP recipe, you'll need to run the numbers thru soap calc to make sure your lye ratio is correct.
I use such a steep water discount, that I have extra to “play with” in the micas..
The water in you micas is that part of the water in your lye solution, or is it just a bit added? Hope I ask that right. I am not always clear on my questions.😊
I do a very steep water discount, so I have wiggle room with the water..
I’m going to give you a tip that will revolutionize your pouring technique, turn the big water and aloe jugs on their side!!!
Ask me how I know!
I very much enjoyed this and all your videos, thank you. Merry Christmas 🎄
I’ll have to try that! Merry Christmas!🎄
