As long as he gets to eat his quiche and caviar and drink his fine wine, he could care less who dies or how many.
Manpower is the one resource Russia has plenty of, If they start basic conscription, Russia could triple the number of its front line troops within 8 months. On June 22nd, 1941, (Barbarossa) the soviet union had 5 million men & women under arms. They also had reservists going back to the early 30s, numbering 15 million troops. People who talk about negotiation for peace never seem to offer a model for that. No negotiation is really possible other than complete withdrawal of hostile forces from Ukraine.
It is a grave mistake to evaluate warfare in terms of casualty rates. In Vietnam the US lost far, far fewer lives than did the Vietcong; yet were defeated. The same occurred in Afghanistan. Of course we wish nevertheless a victory for Ukraine. Don’t forget also that nowhere escapes surveillance. War has changed.
I love the idea of NATO defending the Belarus Border in Ukraine. I hate Trump. I believe he is the worst thing to happen to the US since WWII. However, if (a very big IF) he does decide to pull a 180 and go all in on Ukraine, that could work out very well for them. I would love to see the war ended and Putin put in his place, but right now that feels overly optimistic. Trump, please prove me wrong.

It's time for the little man's power trip to come to an end, who knows whether the Russian people will wake up and call an end to this craziness. Time will tell.
Same reason everyone fights wars; because they believe either the potential reward is worth the price being paid, or that the potential negative consequences of not continuing outweigh the costs of continuing.
The guest is happy to criticize the US for withholding aid for "purely political reasons" but is not critical at all that Europe also hasn't provided enough aid.
Not like Ukraine, then? Ukraine's population was 60m in 1989, 40m in 2018 and is now about 18m. Half the population, men included, have fled to the EU. Including world heavyweight champ and 'great Ukrainian patriot' Oleksandr Usyk. And don't get me started about the demographic spiral garrotting Britain and western Europe. Just walk down any urban High Street and it is there for all to see.
Other than material goods, yes. Putin has been sabre-rattling about using nukes as it is. Russia's sovereignty must be threatened only from within. If their sovereignty is threatened from without, Russia would have the excuse to risk going nuclear. It's the reason why the East and West have always resorted to proxy wars.
They've been saying that for two and a half years now. In reality, Russia is turning out more tanks and guns every month that it is losing and as many shells as it is using.
Great summation. I never thought Ukraine could win on the battlefield. They refuse to sacrifice hundreds of thousands in assaults with zero chance of survival. BUT I insist that Russia cannot continue much longer on the economics, financial and disaster fronts. The ruble is dead, inflation is probably 25%, oil sales are declining and the endless raids on refineries, pipelines, ammo & fuel dumps, factories, railroads, etc are hitting home, not to mention the crumbling infrastructure, equipment problem, declining airline industry. The social breakdown is as lethal as the physical one with acts of barbarism presented as the norm.
glad you are experiencing the highs now . ( bluffing onseself is still legit ) 3 months later i will definitely come back here and ask you , do you still feel the same way .? haha
Trump will have little to no influence on what Putin wants, Putin has never cared about that before. Only a country like China could possibly do something, but I doubt that too. Geographically, Russia is becoming increasingly dependent on countries that still want to trade with Russia. The sanctions regarding no longer trading in rubles are finally bearing fruit because reports are there that domestic inflation in Russia is rising rapidly, shortages are emerging everywhere, the economy is focused purely on war material (and they can't even keep up with that). If, as they say, the supplies of armored vehicles and tanks are running out, and the only tactic that keeps Russia in the war / makes progress is meat waves, then that must be very demoralizing if Ukraine can strike again and again. Taking back the initiative will indeed be important for Ukraine. Although I do have the feeling that they are quite busy with that in terms of destroying targets far behind the fronts. The Black Sea Fleet is almost completely disabled or no longer significant, large refineries are being hit and disrupted up to 700-1,000 km away. This will hurt Russia a lot because they do not have the manpower to be present everywhere, to throw defenses everywhere. Simply put, there are too many installations. In that respect, Ukraine can keep shifting their goals and keep misleading Russia. The development of war material by Ukraine is absolutely not standing still, partly thanks to the continued supply of technology from the West, which Russia has a great shortage of. Ukraine will not give in to the Russians. I suspect that the only thing that could really stop the war is for someone in Russia to say and think; "this far and no further" and depose Putin. Although Putin has made sure for decades that he no longer has a real opponent. Trump has the advantage that the world has been taking tough action against Russia for years now, Russia has been weakened by this, but that Trump is the one who caused this... no. What has already been said regarding the delivery of weapons and money being blocked by the Republicans, even to the contrary.
As an American, I was so impressed with Zelensky's handling of Trump. What you said at the end, I think it is possible because Trump is his ego. When he won the election (to my extreme dismay), Zelensky boosted his ego. Putin showed nudes of Melania... It really might come down to that in Trump's mind. We're in for a wild ride...
The Saudi Arabia has a stake. Trump has received $billions in bribes from the Saudi's. Trump is beholden to MBS, but MBS is also friendly with Putin. The Saudi's would be fools not to leverage their control of Trump for the benefit of themselves and client states like Russia. That would occur to the detriment of Ukraine.
Neither Ukraine nor Russia will win this clusterf, there is no winner. But Russia will be terribly depleted in both manpower and especially equipment. Ukraine will be rebuilt but at what cost to the people and country.
The money will be found to rebuild Ukraine. Europe should know that it is now the country Russia fears militarily above all others, even the USA. There can be a winner, a winner of the peace. The USSR won the war and lost the peace, Germany and Japan lost the war, but won the peace. Ukraine has paid a terrible price, but it can win the peace. Russia cannot be allowed to win the peace for the sake of the free world.
"Russia will be terribly depleted in both manpower and especially equipment."? what, not like Ukraine? .. Russia won't need to be rebuilt, there might be no winners but there will be a loser.
@leestimpson1838 The F-16s have so far AFAIK been used mainly to shoot down Russian drones and cruise missiles which seems sensible to gain experience with the aircraft. Airstrikes are usually done by Su-24, MiG-29 and Su-27 with eg Storm Shadow, JDAM and other PGM’s.

Blimey, that's the bones of half a million men in one year. A number & demographic Russia cannot afford to loose
But great sunflower fertiliser 😅
That has been the tactic of every Russian leader ever since Ivan the Terrible. Just keep push, push, pushing until your opponent is completely exhausted. Putin couldn't care less if he lost half of the people in Russia. He would just tax the remaining ones twice as hard. As long as he gets to eat his quiche and caviar and drink his fine wine, he could care less who dies or how many.
You seriously believe these people and their casualty estimates?
Manpower is the one resource Russia has plenty of, If they start basic conscription, Russia could triple the number of its front line troops within 8 months. On June 22nd, 1941, (Barbarossa) the soviet union had 5 million men & women under arms. They also had reservists going back to the early 30s, numbering 15 million troops. Manpower has never been a problem for Russia, how they used their military has.
@@incomitatus They cannot, over a million young men of military age have left russia, millions of educated have also left. They do not have the armor equipment anymore and have to use e scooters, motor bikes and golf carts, old lada car's etc to attack Ukraine lines.
Astute analysis....
A very astute and credible analysis. I'm not a Trump supporter, but if this thing goes the way as described, I'll applaud and give him credit.
I HATE Trump!!! But if he can convince Putin to drop this war under conditions, the Ukrainians can accept and, also very important, put provisions into a deal that make Putin stay with the agreement, I will applaud him loudly!! But all we have seen since 2014 is Trump‘s love for Putin and support for everything he’s done. He hast to put the pressure on Putin, not Ukraine.
Brilliant analysis and excellent questions. Thank you both 🇺🇦🇬🇧
Great discussion
Carry on!
Enjoyed the interview
People who talk about negotiation for peace never seem to offer a model for that. No negotiation is really possible other than complete withdrawal of hostile forces from Ukraine.
These interviews are always interesting. 🥇
Anthony, Terrific questions, intelligent and professional demeanor; well done young man. Definitely a growing star.!!!!!
Your examples show that casualties are more.important for the attacker than the defender.
Especially when nobody knows the real casualty rate on either side.
The US never lost a major battle in Vietnam, Washington (mostly Democrat) politicians lost us that war.
@@lesterquintrell4844This is simply not true. Every death is well documented with video or photo evidence and positive ID.
@ How did they do that?
I love the idea of NATO defending the Belarus Border in Ukraine. I hate Trump. I believe he is the worst thing to happen to the US since WWII. However, if (a very big IF) he does decide to pull a 180 and go all in on Ukraine, that could work out very well for them. I would love to see the war ended and Putin put in his place, but right now that feels overly optimistic. Trump, please prove me wrong.
😂😂😂😂 You think Americans will run from taliban but face Russia?
You watch too much Hollywood movies.
The US should get out of Ukraine. Since Europe does not care about Ukraine, why should the US carry the cost? Europe has a GDP 6 times larger than that of Russia's GDP. Why does Europe neglect its defense?
@@nonameinsouthafrica3315 I believe I stated that I do not see it happening. That was my main point. If however it did happen, I for one would be for it. You are right on the Taliban issue. They collapsed the USSR and had the US chasing its own tail for years. If not for Trump signing a treaty with the Taliban and Biden upholding that treaty, The US would likely still be chasing its own tail.
@@johnkennedy3199 Why should the US care about the world? Maybe because we live in it. Europe has already been more consistent in their support than us. they have been giving a higher %GDP than us. We do not have troops in Ukraine but we have Americans that have volunteered to fight in Ukraine. You should hear their stories. If you Ukraine falls, Russia attacks NATO nations, and your children are drafted to fight in a war that could have been prevented, who will you blame? Russia, Ukraine, the EU, or yourself?

Pooter must thoroughly enjoy incurring massive losses; why else would he keep doing it? Cheers!
Or maybe the loss counts are propaganda
He couldn't care less about the numbers of dead or injured. They're a means to an end, totally disposable. I would add that it's the Russian way, more heroes/martyrs all for the cause. Putin is power crazy, sees himself as a modern day Tsar.
@@TheToppa72putin is dead when he stops the war.

The guest is happy to criticize the US for withholding aid for "purely political reasons" but is not critical at all that Europe also hasn't provided enough aid.
Europe is skint, particularly broke and bankrupt Britain, which is still trying to masquerade as a great power.
The US gains financially exclusively from the aid. They mostly have to buy American weapons exclusively at the benefit of American companies.
Europe has a GDP six times larger than Russia's, and Europe neglects its defense and Ukraine. There is no need for the US to be involved.

Russia on a self inflicted negative demografic spiral........ on speed!!!!
and roids
Not like Ukraine, then? Ukraine's population was 60m in 1989, 40m in 2018 and is now about 18m. Half the population, men included, have fled to the EU. Including world heavyweight champ and 'great Ukrainian patriot' Oleksandr Usyk.
And don't get me started about the demographic spiral garrotting Britain and western Europe. Just walk down any urban High Street and it is there for all to see.
where is the west help do u want them to do it alone
It appears so unfortunately. The west are proving to be cowards.
pretty much.
That was an easy to understand explanation of the Ukraine War. I appreciated the objectives of the reporting. Thank you both.
Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦 🌎⚖️☮️🦅🙏🏼
Putin has gone all in expecting Trump would end support for Ukraine. Equipment wise he shortly will have nothing left.
If you really believe that you are hopeless. Any day now we keep hearing
Putin isn't relying on Trump for anything and isn't worried by him either.
@@lesterquintrell4844 He should be. He is sinking his country and has enlarged NATO and lost Syria. The Black Sea Fleet is gone.
If Trump stops the supplies, Poland and other powerful EU countries will fill the gap. Russia is gone. It just doesn’t know it yet

Regardless of what Putin wants, the US must pull out of this European conflict.
The awful news is that Ukraine is also loosing a lot of people.
More, much more, than Russia.
@@arshadali2312unlikely and no evidence of such. I don't believe the Ukrainians are using outdated meat wave tactics.

Trump is beholden to MBS, but MBS is also friendly
with Putin. The Saudi's would be fools not to leverage their control of Trump for the benefit of themselves and client states like Russia.
That would occur to the detriment of Ukraine.
Well the ride might be smoother than if Kamala had been elected.

@@cbm2156 America always fairs better by far with any Dem in office.
@@cbm2156 Harris was 100% behind supporting Ukraine. Pretty clear what your idea of a "smooth ride" would be.
Neither Ukraine nor Russia will win this clusterf, there is no winner. But Russia will be terribly depleted in both manpower and especially equipment. Ukraine will be rebuilt but at what cost to the people and country.
Remember Ukraine didn't ask for this.
Russia only fears Ukraine funding and donations.
"Russia will be terribly depleted in both manpower and especially equipment."? what, not like Ukraine? .. Russia won't need to be rebuilt, there might be no winners but there will be a loser.
The same price Europe paid in ww2. It was horrible, but resulted in the restoration of democracy, and prosperity.
Haven't heard any news on those 'gamechanging' F16's.
Could it be because they have been destroyed?
Or because Ukraine is defending and preserving their F-16's for future operations.
