App luh kay (no offense meant. I'm a teacher and have myself pronounced some words creatively until I eventually heard someone else use them orally in context.) Your pattern is exquisite and directions very clear and easy to follow. In addition, your voice is very calm and reassuring. You are an excellent teacher! I'm finally making this for my first great-grandchild Willow. She turns 2 months on Valentine's Day. I'll make your matching Mary Janes, too. I hope they work up fast.
This turned out so cute! My newborn has a tiny head so I'd stop at the 3 hdc + 1 inc and only 13 rounds including the bunching section next time. I'll definitely be back to make this in more colors. Thanks for sharing!
Very clear instructions and tutorial! I used Sugar 'n Cream cotton yarn for a lighter weight - my granddaughter-to-be will be living in Texas where it is warm year round.
So glad you like the tutorial! Congratulations on having a new addition to your family soon. I'm sure your granddaughter will look absolutely precious in the hat you make her!
Ur method and techniques are really amazing…I loved doing it and it turned out to be the same as ur’s….thank you for sharing such an amazing baby turban hat 😊
Hi, just some feedback: if this pattern is for beginners, please go slower every time you insert your hook when closing or starting. That way people can actually follow your tutorial. Thanks for sharing!
Get the free pattern. This is a basic circle increase, may go to a site that teaches basics needed prior to beginners. Once you know the basics, it's easy. Sorry you are having trouble
Your tutorials are the best on UA-cam. I've watched a lot and I especially like that you also add the verbiage on the screen plus the total stitch count
Glad you like them! I really appreciate this helpful feedback! I put a lot of work adn time into my videos to include details and am so happy that they're being noticed!! :)
Had so much fun making the baby hat with the turban for my neighbors from Morocco!! 👍🏼😁 The bow is adorable but I would be concerned about any long strings for any baby, (strangle hazard) should the wrap around yarn ever come out. I’m going to try the bow with the wrap around part being a crocheted strip, maybe using the single crochet stitch to get that more solid fabric look. Thank you! PS have you see the surgeon’s knot? It’s great for joining yarn without any ends or to tie things that you don’t want to ever come undone. Hope that helps.
Oh how wonderful, you are such a sweet neighbor! I think your idea of the surgeon's knot is really helpful, and you're right -- there couldb e a stranglation hazard. I didn't think of that, so thank you for bringing it up!! I will look into how this surgeon's knot is done!
Hello, since this is my first baby turban im making. Can you please give me an example of how many increases i would have to do for a 6-12 month baby and would i decrease the hook size? Thanks
💖It's just superb....I hv never seen such easy type of hat😍 i tried for the first time today and I succeeded 😇......i mean i don't have words to describe 🙈😘 Really loved this💖😍😍

After sum errors it worked very good and I‘m happy with the result. However it was very difficult to find the written pattern on your Website 😅 Thanks for sharing this beautiful pattern ❤
I’m a beginner, any tips that would help keep my hats from looking like a bowl? I feel like it always becomes a circle and then I give it sides like a cylinder
Glad you enjoyed thsi tutorial! I would recommend trying it with a thinner yarn (DK or weight 3 yarn) and with a smaller hook, like a 4 or 4.5mm. That will produce a smaller hat.
Thanks for supporting my small business! To make it larger, you can make a round or two more of increases at the crown, and then make the height of the hat longer with a couple more repetitions of the BLO/FLO rounds. Here is a hat sizing & reference chart that can help guide you in knowing the approximate size for the crown/height for a 9-12month child: www.sweetsofties.com/2020/06/hat-sizing-chart.html
I'm so glad you were able to find the cream hat pattern (www.sweetsofties.com/2020/02/babys-buttoned-turban.html)! I'm sorry for my late reply; I just saw your comment! I hope you had a fun time crocheting the cream hat!
That is so sweet of you to do! I'm sure she will appreciate the heartfelt gift. Here's my video tutorial on crocheting a turban in any size: ua-cam.com/video/tnlnaVAbBaA/v-deo.html You can just add the bow from this pattern on at the end!
If you'd like to follow my pattern instructions, the larger sizes are paid, yes. Or, you can take a look at this Hat Sizing & measurement chart: www.sweetsofties.com/2020/06/hat-sizing-chart.html And you can adjust the pattern to fit the size you need! :)
Thank you! I will be working on the written pattern for the white hat soon and will share that on my blog once it's done! For adult sizes, it's quite easy to adjust by adding more increases to the crown of the hat and more rows to the body of the hat.
That’s a lot smaller - I’d recommend using the Hat Sizing and Measurements chart on my blog (Sweet Softies) to get an idea of how big the crown and length of the hat should be! It’ll require more increases and rounds than what I’m demonstrating in my video here
Hi thank you for this amazing tutorial I have found it easy to follow with a great result.. I have just a couple of questions if ok... each roe increases goes from 10, 20, 30 etc does that include the 2loop Chain please? And is the hat 0-3 months old?... thank you vicky x
So I may sound dumb asking this question but I am new to crocheting. If I have a weight 3 (light) yarn, is there any way to use it for this pattern? It is a color I really love and that is why I was wondering. Thanks for the great video!
Hi! You can definitely use weight 3 yarn, and I'd recommend using a slightly smaller hook than what I recommend so that your stitches won't have significantly big gaps between them. If you use a lighter weight yarn and a smaller hook, however, it would likely make your hat a lot smaller than my finished size, so it might be more of a preemie baby fit. If you'd like to make it bigger, I do have written instructions for different sizes for this hat, and I'd recommend going a size up if you're going to use thinner yarn/smaller hook. www.etsy.com/listing/1065061741/ Hope this helps!
Hello, I used this pattern to make my youngest baby a turban, loved how it turned out, I also bought it on Etsy, but she's bigger now, is there a way to use this pattern to for bigger babies/toddlers?
Yes, you can make it larger! You can add an extra increase round (or two rounds) to the crown of the hat. This will make it wider for a wider head circumference. For example, instead of stopping at 50 hdc, go on to do 60 hdc (or 70 hdc, depending on how wide a toddler head you'd like it to fit). You can then add an extra round or two to the height of the hat by simply repeating the "hdc around" instructions, following the alternating rounds of BLO and FLO. Hope this helps!! If you'd rather get the pattern PDF for the hat in all sizes, it's available at: www.etsy.com/listing/1065061741/
Hi! What you can do is make the crown of the hat larger by adding more increase rows. Instead of stopping at R5 with 50 sts, go to R6 with (hdc 4, hdc-inc) around (60 sts). This will make the crown larger, and then you can continue with the rest of the pattern. When you get to the part with alternating hdc in BLO/FLO, you can add more rows to make the vertical part of the hat longer. You might find this hat sizing chart to be helpful for telling you measurements for average 9/12 month heads: www.sweetsofties.com/2020/06/hat-sizing-chart.html
Hi..I used Atopia Crafts velvet Lux yarn ..after completing round 1 I was unable to pull the yarn and make the magic circle smaller..the yarn just withered and got cut..How to tighten the magic ring while using velvety yarn please.Has anyone else faced this problem.
Hi! If you're using a large hook like in my tutorial you will be able to see the stitches better. However, you can also feel for the stitches! It's not easy working with velvet yarn because the stitches aren't as clear, so I usually work slower with it. I have a video on tips for crocheting with fluffy yarn, which might be helpful for velvet yarn too since it's harder to see: ua-cam.com/video/YmZo4q-ptDE/v-deo.html
Hi! Did you mean your hat is very small, doll-sized? If that's the case, I'm wondering if your tension is very tight? I recommend using a 5mm crochet hook with medium weight 4 yarn for this newborn (0-3 mo) sized hat. If that is producing a small hat for you, perhaps go up to a bigger hook size and use thicker yarn. I hope this helps!
I'd add additional increases to the crown and additional rounds to the body of the hat to make it wider and longer. This Hat Sizing & Reference Chart might help, since gauge may be different and it also depends on the hook size and yarn weight you use. The best way is to check sizing through the reference chart! www.sweetsofties.com/2020/06/hat-sizing-chart.html
Is there just a link for the pattern? Must’ve clicked a half a dozen links and none of them just give you the written pattern just brings you to another page with another link that’s not working can you post a link here. Thanks in advance
Sorry to hear that! Here's the link: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ribbed-baby-turban-hat-with-bow You can also find it on Etsy: www.etsy.com/listing/760982544/ If you want the hat in all sizes (not just newborn), here's the link: www.etsy.com/listing/1065061741/
Hi! I can't say exactly but it would probably help for you to check out this Hat Sizing Reference Chart: www.sweetsofties.com/2020/06/hat-sizing-chart.html What you would do is make enough increase rounds to fit the crown of the head of a 12-month-old on the chart, then make enough straight rows to match the vertical height of a 12-mo on the chart. Hope this helps!
This is for newborns 0-3mo but I do have a turban pattern to fit any head size here: www.sweetsofties.com/2021/04/any-size-turban.html (You can just add a crochet bow in front!)

If you'd like to follow my pattern instructions, the larger sizes are paid, yes. Or, you can take a look at this Hat Sizing & measurement chart: www.sweetsofties.com/2020/06/hat-sizing-chart.html
And you can adjust the pattern to fit the size you need! :)
I love your tutorial and patterns do you have one for white hat and also in adult size
Thank you! I will be working on the written pattern for the white hat soon and will share that on my blog once it's done! For adult sizes, it's quite easy to adjust by adding more increases to the crown of the hat and more rows to the body of the hat.
I am trying a chunky yarn. How would I adjust the counts to still fit a newborn?
Hi, how can i make this pattern for baby 0-3 using fingering wool and 2.5 hook?
That’s a lot smaller - I’d recommend using the Hat Sizing and Measurements chart on my blog (Sweet Softies) to get an idea of how big the crown and length of the hat should be! It’ll require more increases and rounds than what I’m demonstrating in my video here
What is increase mean ? I'm a beginner and trying to follow this is it 2 HDC into the same stitch ?
Yes, that's what "inc" means! Putting two sts into the same st. In the case of this pattern, that would be 2 hdc in the same st.
@@SweetSofties perfect ,thanks for the reply , I'm still learning the basics 🙈

I looked at the all sizes pattern but it calls for the same hook and yarn size as the newborn. I dont understand how to adjust to make a bigger size
I have a question for you- my seam in the back keeps going diagonal, but my stitch counts are correct. What am I doing wrong?
I'm not quite sure; the seam shouldn't be too slanted. Could you pull your piece a little bit to kind of pull the seam back in place?
on row 4 are you doiing hdc in each stitch and the increase in same as one stitch or two together then one
You will hdc in each stitch, then increase in the next stitch. When you increase, it means to insert 2 hdc in the same stitch. Hope this helps!
Hi i am using the velvet yarn, do u have any tips for working with velvet yarns, as at times i could not see the backloop easily.
Hi! If you're using a large hook like in my tutorial you will be able to see the stitches better. However, you can also feel for the stitches! It's linked in the description box but here it is for your convenience! :) www.sweetsofties.com/2020/01/ribbed-baby-turban.html
Very easy to follow but, my hat looks like is for a doll. I am a beginner, please advise.
If I were to do this hat for a 3-5 year old how many rows of the increase should I do? Thank you
I'd add additional increases to the crown and additional rounds to the body of the hat to make it wider and longer.

How to make toddler size??
Can I use cotton yarn?
Yes, if you'd like to! :) As long as it's soft for baby's head, I'm sure it'll be a wonderful hat!
@@SweetSofties thank you
Mam plz tell me how many rows n rounds for 1 year old baby cap
Hi! I can't say exactly but it would probably help for you to check out this Hat Sizing Reference Chart: www.sweetsofties.com/2020/06/hat-sizing-chart.html
What you would do is make enough increase rounds to fit the crown of the head of a 12-month-old on the chart, then make enough straight rows to match the vertical height of a 12-mo on the chart. Hope this helps!
What size hat is this. To fit what age baby
This is for newborns 0-3mo but I do have a turban pattern to fit any head size here: www.sweetsofties.com/2021/04/any-size-turban.html
(You can just add a crochet bow in front!)
