    As an American who flies to Italy, I find it best to fly into one major international airport and out of another. If my trip starts in Venice, I fly into Marco Polo and then end in Rome out of Fiumicino. People often waste a day by taking a train from where their last stop is back to their original due to a round trip ticket. Flights that leave Italy to the US leave early in the morning (trying to take a train from Venice to Rome super earlyin the morning on your returnflight morning is a big mistake), you want to enjoy your last night, set up your itinerary to fly back from the airport closest to your last stop.

    • @GregorBrown
      @GregorBrown  Рік тому +1

      Do you find that that would cost you more money than buying a round trip ticket to and from the same City?

    • @joecowan3719
      @joecowan3719 Рік тому +2

      @@GregorBrown We use American Airlines points, but I do always check the price as well. The flights tend to be $100-150 more using the two airports, but I think that is more than a fair trade off for enjoying your last night and being close to your final airport.

    • @GregorBrown
      @GregorBrown  Рік тому +1

      yeah. You definitely make a good point and travelers should weigh up that before deciding on airports and tickets.

      Great idea ! I’m planning a trip to Italy for next May and would want to fly into Rome and end my trip in Milan . Would I be able to fly out of Milan instead of going all the way back to Rome ?

    • @joecowan3719
      @joecowan3719 Рік тому +1

      @@krystlesosinavage8861 Absolutely, when you look at booking your flights on Google you select the Multi-City option at the top. Also try a search where you flight into Milan and back home from Rome, you would be surprised how much you can save depending on your arrival and departure city. May is a beautiful time of year to visit Italy!

    I lived in Rovio and Tagia de Po while working on an offshore project in Italy. To me, the very best time of year to go to Italy was in the Spring. Everything is in bloom and the eye candy is about. Some lesser-known places to visit are places like Padova. The local bars are located between the Churches, which are between the bars. You literally can go from one bar to the next and the only cost would be a donation during Mass. I seldom buy any wine by the bottle unless it's from a local bar or small cantina. They have liquor stores that sell wine by the empty water bottle and it is only a couple of Euros. On the other hand, when you buy wine (or beer) at a local place, snacks usually come with the drink. Also, a fantastic drink is called "Spritz". Some of the places will off you a small glass of Grapa. Be careful about the Grapa because it is the worst-tasting hard liquor that all of the locals drink and it will mess you up fast. Try to stay away from the tourist places to eat. Ask around and normally they will let you know of a place that doubles as a pastry shop during the day with the upstairs serving dinner. Keep in mind that dinner in Italy is a 3 to 4-hour event. Each thing that you order will come out in its own place. So let's say you ordered "Stinkoli" which is a lamb dish that is really nice, the side dishes will come out one by one until the main course.

    Hi, we met each other 2 weeks ago at Starbucks Brussels airport :) My family and I did have a very good time in Florence and to our surprise: at the end of the trip we enjoyed Siena & San Gimignano more than Cinque Terre which was supposed to be the highlight of our trip.
    Anyway, thanks for your restaurant vids. We did try Trattoria Dall'Oste, Trattoria Sabatino, All'Antico Vinaio, L’antica pizzeria da Michele, etc.
    We're considering new regions for the next visit!
