I think you'll need to brush up on some guides on how to setup a dynamic mic with your device. That distortion is you peaking. I think your gain is set too high on your audio mixer (Hardware device) that will result in peaking your audio by getting closer. It's probably set too high because your wayyyyyy too far from the dynamic mic, you should be roughly about a fist away and not having it point directly at your mouth so your less likely to blow someone's ears off with plosives. If your gain is set correctly on your mixer, you will pick up way less from the other things in your room (Your air conditioner and keyboard). You will still pick some of it up, but you fix that with with your filters in OBS. Condenser settings are for more sensitive mics. I think the audacity issues are also because of your configuration with the mixer. I'm assuming with your Blue Yeti you were using the Blue Software which has those pre-configured filters, which is why there was less issues with it. I just bought this thing (Blue Sona) with a focusright scarlett solo (gen 3) and am not having these issues with a portable air conditioner and an ice maker humming in the background. I DO however, have an Elgato stream deck +, so I route my audio through that and use VST plugins to noise gate, limiter, noise suppression, etc.. everything (Which is pretty much the same thing your doing in OBS, but it's a digital audio mixer where I can apply all the filters to use in any other app). I can literally watch youtube videos at normal sound with my soundbar in front of me and my keyboard at my desk and not have it be picked up by the mic. The reason I bought this was because my Blue Yeti X , which is a condenser mic was picking up tons more as it is more sensitive. It was way more difficult to remove other sounds. I've been researching dynamic XLR devices for a couple of weeks before I pulled the trigger and bought one. Podcastage has some great insight on how you should configure your audio and things you should be aware of. ua-cam.com/video/1l86SOlxyps/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Podcastage
Thanks for the insight. I think I need a better audio interface because I’m using the fifine sc3 with the gain set as low as I can go without fully muting the mic and I still have this issue.
Hope everyone enjoyed the Scooby-Doo Laugh!
