My 99 9-3 had a real problem opening and closing the soft top. I ordered the LiquiMoly from Scandix in Germany (took 5 weeks to get it though!). Today I followed your instruction and there was only 80 ml that I could suck out. filled it up, tested, filled it up again and also lubricated all pivoting points, It is working great again now. Thank you so much for the clear instruction..
Thank you so much for the tutorial man! I used to get about 6 soft top errors before it would eventually open/close but now it works smooth and much faster!
Erik Deutsch honestly I don’t know the schedule maintenance, I did it as I wanted to change my power steering fluid also. But I would recommend every 2 or 3 years depending how you use the car. In any case I never follow the maintenance schedule in my car so make always better as it’s the basics to keep your cars long. And it’s not a hodge expense to change oil or Dot4 or steering fluid...
psv1600 hi change mine every three years - cheaper than new rams for sure - easy job really - need to make sure to use fluid recommended by Saab Always believe fluids cheaper than comments ! Do oil and filter every 6 months - coolant three years - gearbox oil three years - Power steering fluid three years - brake fluid 18 months to two years - hopefully will keep my 2005 Aero going for a few more years 🙏
Excellent and timely video as I am in the market to buy a Saab convertible and preparing my list of maintenance. This part was always a mystery until now! I was looking to see if there were a way to drain it but I am happy to see that refilling three times works and that it self burps/bleeds. Two questions please: 1. What year is the Saab in the video? 2. What is that "T" valve in the hole showing on the pump mechanism (before and after you replace the metal box/protector ? Thank you.
Hi Constantinos, good if it's help! The fluid is simple GM steering fluid part 93160548 you can find in Opel dealer or online on ebay, amazon or at: www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/accessories/chemicals-consumables/oil/hydraulic-oil-1-l/1023290/ www.neobrothers.co.uk/power-steeringhydraulic-roof-fluid-saab-900-94-98-9-3-98-02-9-5-98-09--9-3-03-12-1-litre-4915-p.asp

My pleasure 😇 I’m happy if it’s help 😃
Would you happen to know that this is the same procedure for a 1996 900S convertible? Thanks
I guess yes, I never did on a 900 NG but knowing SAAB I think it’s similar job.
Excellent video!!! Thanks so much!! This will help me change the fluid on my 2002 9-3. How is your car doing?
I watch this video every year before topping up my saab. Nice joke too.😃
Hahaha, even me I’m laughing alone of my craziness 😜. Thanks a lot
How often would you recommend replacing this oil?

Hi and thanks for your kind comment. My 9.3 is a 2002 aero, and the “T” is the manual roof operation in case of problem. Cheers
helpful video! can you please tell me from where you found the original oil? what is the name of the product

You didn't show how to put the fluid in?
Sorry for the very late answer, you must to fill up the oil by a little screw on the top of the tank, use a small funel, cheers

Saab 900 and 9.3 I
Fantastic. I watched a video where a guy destroys his entire trunk on a 9-3 to get to the pump. 900 seems so much easier
So make a video put a link here, promote it on UA-cam. it will be more helpful than to spit your frustration here !
